WELCOME to the completely renovated holiday chalet "De Wijze Uil" in 2023
The chalet is located on the Recreation Park "De Ossenberg" in Overberg (near Amerongen and Veenendaal).
The quiet location of the chalet in the middle of "De Utrechtse Heuvelrug" offers many opportunities to relax and recreate in and around the woods.
For the children there is a lot to do in the park and in the area, such as: football, tennis, swimming and the playground. You can enjoy shopping and going out in Veenendaal and Ede. Walking, cycling, MTB, tennis and swimming are possible on and from the park.

There are many nice tourist attractions and points of interest nearby. The chalet has a spacious living area of 60 m2 and is suitable for 4 persons. You must bring your own towels and kitchen linen. The chalet is equipped with a modern complete kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, kettle, filter coffee machine, large fridge with freezer compartment and an extra large 6-burner stove with oven. The bathroom has underfloor heating. You park your car on the lot in front of the chalet. In the high season it cannot be booked for a weekend or midweek, but in consultation from Friday to Friday or Saturday to Saturday, please send an email if you have any questions.

Tip: Ideal for dog owners, our chalet can also be rented if you have 1 (max. 2) pet(s). The cottage is ideally located against the DOG RUN AREA at the foot of the Amerongseberg in the National Park De Utrechtse Heuvelrug. You walk from the chalet directly into the woods where your dog (s) can run / walk freely. A pleasant stay for you, especially for your dog(s).

Tip: Ideal for MTB enthusiasts The chalet is ideally located near the MTB route at the foot of the Amerongseberg in the National Park De Utrechtse Heuvelrug. You cycle directly from the chalet onto the MTB route. These are one of the most beautiful (and sportiest) mountain bike routes in the Netherlands with a total length of approx. 40 km. There are currently 4 MTB routes connected to each other.

Tip: Ideal for (E-bike) cyclists, directly from the park you can choose to make several beautiful cycling routes. You can make good use of the many cycling routes in the area. In the vicinity of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug you can cycle nicely through the woods and, for example, along the lakes in Leersum. Every day there is a nice different tour to cycle.

- "A very attractive chalet, inside was modern and nicely done. Had everything you needed. We went out on bikes every day, a very varied and attractive area." - "My wife and I stayed in The Wise Owl from July 8 to 15 2017. Mr Klass met us at the park reception and took us to the chalet and showed us around. We found it very spacious and clean and everything we needed was provided. There was also English speaking channels on the tv and there were many dvds to watch and cds to listen to. There is a large deck outside with tables and benches. This is covered which has it's advantages and disadvantages. It's nice to sit out there even when it's raining because you don't get wet but if you would like a lazy day chilling out and resting after a hard day the day before you wont get any sunbathing done out there. Wifi is provided but you can only have 1 item at a time but that isn't a problem because the holday park provides wifi and if you need to use more than item you can logon to that. The park is very quiet and has a 10 km/h speed limit which is enforsed by hundreds of speed humps so it's safe for children and just opposite the chalet is a small childrens play area. Entrance to the park is by a key pass that Mr Klass provides so no one that shouldn't be there can get in. There is parking space for one "Smallish" car at the chalet. I don't think an estate car will fit. But there are parking spaces along the road a little way. Next to the park is a forest that is very nice for walks. There are many shops and supermarkets in Veenendaal, which is 5 km from the holiday park. The exit to the A12 motorway is also in Veenendaal and from there the Dolfinarium is 45 minutes. Royal Flora in Aalsmeer is less than an hour. Rotterdam zoo, Delft pottery, The Hague, Madurodam and the beach are about an hour and Amsterdam is a little over an hour. Overall it's a lovely chalet and a very friendly and very quiet holiday park and I highly recommend it. It's very large with plenty of room for a couple or a family with 3 children."

This beautiful vacation home is located in Park de Ossenberg, which offers many facilities and activities for the whole family. The central space of the house is the open living area with nice sitting area and dining area where you can eat together with family or friends and enjoy the view outside.

Drink the first cup of coffee in the morning on the covered terrace with garden furniture in nice weather, while the children play in the garden with trampoline, swing and playhouse. In the evening you can end the day with a delicious dinner from the grill.

In the park, visit the playground, play petanque, swim in the communal outdoor pool or have a meal in the restaurant or café. Active vacationers can enjoy the many mountain bike trails in the area. For excursions, the charming towns of Leersum, Amerongen and Rhenen are recommended. For children, the Ouwehands Zoo is a highlight. These beautiful, architect-designed Family Eco-Lodges are very luxurious and fully equipped for 12 people. You book a total of two lodges, which are located next to each other on our park.

Our lodges are perfect for a weekend getaway or holiday with ultimate comfort. Each Lodge is equipped with 3 bedrooms, including 1 master bedroom with a double bed and a washbasin, 1 double bedroom with a double bed and 1 bedroom with bunk beds. Each Lodge has a spacious bathroom with toilet and a separate toilet. The spacious living area has a modern open-plan kitchen with nice views outside. The kitchen is equipped with: Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, combi oven, fridge freezer, induction hob, extractor hood incorporated in the cooking island with various kitchen utensils and pan set.

The garden, where you can enjoy the sun all day, has a covered terrace with lounge set. Also, each lodge has a lawn and a terrace with a picnic table. Each lodge has a spacious storage room.

Soof Heuvelrug is a pet-free park. No pets are allowed in the Eco-Lodges.

Nature and environment

The small-scale holiday park is located in the heart of the Netherlands right across from nature reserve Kwintelooijen, part of national park the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. It is also located between Veenendaal and Rhenen, both worth a visit. Various cultural and historical attractions can also be found in the immediate vicinity. Feel free to drop in at our reception for ideas. Of course, we know the area best ourselves so we will be happy to give you the real inside information.
