- "This property is simply an old fashion motel. It is clean with no frills. The room was clean; it is on the other side of the street from the train noise which is constant in Gila Bend. I would recommend asking for a room facing away from the road to minimize the train noise. Most the motels are on the train side of the road. There is no frill breakfast offered. TV has over 100 channels to watch if that is your thing. We were there to hunt and didn't use the room much other to sleep and shower."

Had to unplug TV to turn it off. Office had damaged stairs. No disabled accessibility or smoke free spaces. Manager chain smoked to and from rooms. Owner was nice though."

- "Fun time for the SILs to get away, do some challenging hiking and have good reading time!" - "The property sits among the saguaros of the Sonoran Desert. There is even an amazing, mature saguaro that abuts the walk-out deck. A small gate allows you to leave the property and access state land that is covered with trails suitable for hiking, horseback riding, and driving ORV's. Skies are dark. The property sits about a mile or so off the freeway, so there is road noise when the doors are open, but it's not super loud. The home is located about a 20-minute drive from downtown Maricopa, so you have a way to go if you need something from town. For us, the remoteness worked as it was the scenery and easy access to trails that attracted us. Due to its rural location, we had a few hiccups regarding electricity and connectivity, but they were short interruptions and only on one occasion. The unit is one half of a duplex with the owner, Leona, living on the opposite side. Leona was a gracious host and worked hard to make sure all was running smoothly and that we had what we needed. The kitchen is fully furnished, but you had to kind of "dig" through a lot of extras to find what you needed sometimes. If you are only staying for a night or two, the very small, camper-sized refrigerator should be sufficient. It was too small for our longer stay. The 2 bedrooms have sliding door openings to the deck and great views of the desert. It's the west side of the building, so you get the afternoon sun and sunsets! Great stay!"

This one room cottage is a gallery filled with eclectic art. Spending time with any of the Charleen’s pieces (and we did) is time well spent. It is a solitary place, set with a view of the mountains, where sunrise and sunset were appreciated; where moments of each night were reserved for viewing the night sky filled with stars. Our short residence at the cottage…this wonderful art gallery was truly a unique experience that will be remembered.
