Williamstown - A Jewel in the West
A 5 minute walk to some great restaurants, local shopping strip, picturesque marina, historical landmarks, the Esplanade and back beach with train station around the corner.

My place is ideal for all types of visits: Business stays, holidays, or just taking time out. To use as a base to start and end your days. Just walking distance from most tourist musts.

Primarily my home, the apartment is situated on the first floor and has all the features of a home stay with host living on the premises. It is private and has a separate entrance.

The apartment that you are booking consists of a kitchenette, sitting room, full bathroom and either 1 or 2 bedrooms for guests to book, depending on their requirements. NO visitors permitted to enter the property for safety, security and Insurances reasons.

The space is peaceful and quiet, spacious with contemporary style rooms and comfortable accommodation.
The train station is a 2 minute walk, so you may hear it occasionally.
Possibly not suitable for persons with walking disabilities, as there is a full flight of stairs to enter and not suitable for entertaining as no visitors are permitted.

Our apartment can accommodate 5 people with a large en-suited master bedroom with a queen bed and a second bedroom with two king singles and a separate bathroom. There is a king single wall bed in the lounge room, that can be unlocked on request, and a separate laundry with washer and drier and separate toilet. A covered balcony faces Douglas Parade with BBQ and a separate outdoor courtyard with electric vergola roof gives masses of outdoor seating. This apartment is one of the largest you will find in Williamstown and furnished to a high level. We have free WiFi and a large screen TV. Enjoy your stay!

- "Overall property acceptable but with issues. when these issues were raised with the property manager by three separate communication method no replies were received. The property is advertised with WIFI which did not connect to the internet at all for the whole booking. As I was working from the property while my family was on vacation I needed to use large amounts of data on my personal devices that cost me money. A tap in the main bedroom ensuite was running ( and I mean running not dripping) the whole time from when we arrived. Both of these things were reported to the manager within an hour of us arriving and the only comment I got was to try the password and check the name of the WIFI on the base of the modem. A message with our check out email said they hoped the problem had been fixed. I rang the manager, emailed them and spoke on their online portal and nothing was done. I am reasonable and understand that getting things fixed over the Christmas new year period may not be possible but do expect to be contacted and the issues followed up with. I would not stay here again as I would be concerned what else may go wrong and not be dealt with. Not worth the money we paid."

We need responsible people to water the garden and feed 3 cats (very light work) in exchange for almost 3 weeks (20 days) at a third of the going AirBnB rate in Williamstown, Victoria. Cats can be left for two days at a time if you want to travel. Cats can come and go.
We are on a quiet street within walking distance of the historic Williamstown waterfront, the beach, shops and the botanical gardens.
Enjoy snorkelling in the Bay, fine dining, or swimming at the beach on a hot day.
Only a five minute walk to Williamstown North station, from where a train journey to Flinders Street Station takes approximately 21 minutes.  Trains on this route typically run every 20 minutes during peak times and every 20–30 minutes during off-peak hours.
You will be comfortable in our home with streaming services (Netflix and Prime), Apple TV and Arcade games, fast internet, reverse cycle air conditioning in all bed and living rooms and plenty of free parking. Nespresso machine.
There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Sleeps 5 in total: 2 in main bedroom on a king bed; 3 in a bunk bed (2 on queen bed on bottom; 1 on single bed on top).
We have a natural swimming pond and an outdoor dining area with BBQ.
No need to clean the house or change the beds — all we need is for the cats and the garden to remain alive until we get back!

TL;DR You stay in a furnished family home for 20 days from 12 pm Friday 20 December 2024 til 12 pm Thursday 09 January 2025 at a third of the cost of AirBnB ($1500). In return you feed 3 cats and water the garden. Everything included except food!

The Neighborhood:
Williamstown is located at the mouth of the Yarra River where it enters Hobsons Bay and Port Phillip, south-west of the Melbourne city centre.

Originally Melbourne's first sea port, Williamstown has developed from what was a neglected industrialised centre into a popular and fashionable maritime village.

Williamstown's attractive main commercial precinct is located along Ferguson Street and Douglas Parade. Around the corner in Nelson Place is what was originally the town centre, lined with historic buildings which are now restaurants, hotels and galleries.

Williamstown is surrounded on three sides by water. The eastern shoreline consists of foreshore reserves dotted with piers, gardens and remnants of Williamstown's maritime history. Scenic views of Melbourne's city skyline can be enjoyed from Gem Pier where cruises on the Yarra River and the bay depart regularly. The rocky south-eastern coastline consists of open parkland which includes the Point Gellibrand Coastal Heritage Park. This park preserves the cultural heritage of the area with items of significance such as the old Fort Gellibrand military site which was first developed in 1860, and the Timeball Tower which was used by ships for timekeeping and navigation. Along the south-western coastline is Williamstown Beach which consists of a sweeping expanse of sand fronting sheltered swimming waters. Further west is Jawbone Reserve, a coastal wetland conservation area.

Getting Around:
Williamstown is well-served by public transport, with both trains and buses operating regularly to and from the suburb.

The Williamstown train line runs from the city center to Williamstown, with trains departing from Flinders Street Station and stopping at North Williamstown, Williamstown Beach, and Williamstown stations. The journey from the city center to Williamstown takes around 30 minutes by train.

There are also several bus routes that operate in Williamstown, including the 472, 473, and 474 buses, which run from the city center to Williamstown, and the 479 and 489 buses, which run within the suburb.

In addition to trains and buses, there is also a ferry service that operates from the city center to Williamstown, providing a scenic way to travel to the suburb. The ferry departs from Docklands and stops at Southbank, Port Melbourne, and Williamstown, before returning to the city.

Overall, Williamstown has a good public transport network that makes it easy for visitors to get around the suburb and explore its attractions.
