It was clear in our room that the door lock slider had been completely ripped out at some point. There was a dirty towel on the back of our door. The toiletry bottles were clearly left by other guests as they were all different brands and none of them were shampoo. The bed frame was super loud and made sounds like banging sheet metal every time you moved an inch. This place is a nightmare. I didn’t complain to the front desk because there were signs saying we had to “complain in the first 15 minutes” or they wouldn’t do anything, and I am in town for a family funeral and didn’t have time to waste, I was already late for the wake. The photos of the rooms on the listing were not the same rooms at all, not in layout or anything. They were clearly taken from stock images online, or taken a decade ago before this place became a horror movie set."

This year-round home sits on 6.5 acres in southwest Minnesota with over 400' of elevated shoreline. The cabin is a two-story structure with loft. As for local attractions, guests can enjoy golfing, walking / riding bike trails, swimming, fishing, hunting nearby public lands, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and so on. For especially large groups (i.e exceeding the cabin's capacity), friends and family are encouraged to utilize the neighboring Jackson County campgrounds (Anderson, Brown, and Robertson all within one mile). These campgrounds offer campsites with electricity (20, 30, and 50 amp service), rustic campsites, restrooms, hot showers, and playground equipment.

If guests wish to explore a larger area, there are two breweries, two wineries, a drive-in theater, movie theater, boutiques, antique shops, spas, flea markets, waterpark, amusement park, concerts and nightlife all within 15 miles or less. This property definitely gives you the space needed to spread out and relax in a quiet family atmosphere. Yet it is close enough to take in the Okoboji experience when the time is right.

Loon Lake is located in Jackson County, Minnesota. This lake covers 679 acres. It is approximately 7 feet deep at its deepest point. Anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Bigmouth Buffalo, Black Bullhead, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Lake Sturgeon, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, White Sucker, Yellow Bullhead and Yellow Perch.

Langseth Lodge is a great place to relax and unwind. Lake Ocheda is a rather shallow lake and is therefore great for swimming, kayaking, canoeing and floating on an inner tube. Lake Okabena, just several miles away, is perfect for boating, waterskiing, jet skiing, and windsurfing. Lake Okabena also offers great opportunities for fishing and ice fishing.

Prepare to relax in this lovely farmhouse on a 5 acre acreage. On the main floor is large living room area that opens up from a very usable kitchen that has full cooking capabilities. Downstairs is another area to hang out with another large room that has a sitting area, TV, and card table. The real charm of this listing though is it’s very private location on a 5 acre lot that extends even further given the surrounding farmland. If you are looking to ‘getaway,’ this is the place to be. A wonderful location to self-reflect, spend quality time with your significant, or bring your family small or large, it doesn’t matter because we have the room to spend together or drift off into different locations depending on you desire. Begin and end your days in the communal kitchen/living room/outdoor patio with good food, eats, and drink. If you wish to venture off the acreage, there is of course easy driving to mountain lake township and larger city Windom. There are some award winning restaurants within 20 minutes drive. There are nearby biking, hiking and walking trails. There is fishing at the nearby mountain lake. Of you like to golf, there is a nine hole course adjacent to the lake.
We are approximately 134 miles from the Twin Cities, 54 miles from Mankato, and 156 miles from Sioux Falls SD. You can get into Mountain Lake in about 5 minutes, Windom about 15 minutes, and Lakefield is about 20 minutes. We have basic amenities of cookware, dishes, linens, Refrigerator, Wi-Fi, TV with DVD player (no cable), basic bathroom soaps/towels. There is a outdoor Jacuzzi within a brick patio. There is garage to park your vehicles. Please remember this is an older farmhouse within a strong farming community. It does draw water from a well. There is hot water heater, water filter, AC and heat.

There are also three sets of stairs that were not an issue for us, but might be for others. We used the kitchen, everything was clean & well stocked. Sweet Retreat is located right outside of city limits but only one mile from the quant town of Luverne's main street and Take 16 Brewery/Event Center.

- "Overall was extremely dirty with rust, mold on the bathroom ceilings, chipping paint, tiles falling off the shower walls, carpets that felt oily. Hallways smell damp. The staff was very kind, though. Beds were okay. Smelled clean. Unfortunately the pictures did not match the state of the rooms. I do not think there is much that could be fixed here without major repairs. "

- "Pool is out of order for construction. Hallways stunk of stale air and cigarette smoke. Poor selection of breakfast options." - "We booked online. No indication in the advertising that the building had totally deteriorated. Some effort was being done for remodel, but, the outside of the building, looked like it was abandoned. I'm talking, large strips of siding peeling off the exterior. Grass growing in the cracks of the sidewalks. The restaurant had red signs posted on the door that it was uninhabitable. The pool/sauna was in a similar state. We had no hot water in the morning. One washcloth for 2 people. The mattress was hard, the pillows were very thin, but, they did provide us with additional pillows when I requested them. We had enough food with us that we didn't even venture to see if they had a breakfast. At that point, we couldn't get out fast enough!"
