- "This was the perfect spot for me. Less than a 10 minute drive to Chichen Itzá. The very personable owner made a wonderful breakfast before I departed to see the ruins. He gave fantastic recommendations and sincerely wanted me to enjoy my stay. I spent two nights at the bungalow because I wanted to enjoy an authentic rural experience. I visited several towns in the area and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I actually could’ve spent a third night. If you are traveling with a pet, the bungalow is pet friendly. I brought a 10 pound female dachshund and she thoroughly enjoyed the yard and walking through town. I would definitely return and would recommend. There is a very friendly restaurant within a five minute walk. Several small local shops to buy essentials. "

The breakfast is delicious and during our stay there was fresh pound cake available for us to snack on during the day if we were ever hungry. Lupita, the house staff, was incredible. - "This is a wonderful place to stay in Mérida. We were taking a chance on the location as Casa del Maya didn't appear to be in one of the more central areas of town (at least from what we could see on the map) but it's close to everything. There were shops and restaurants right around the corner and some of the major plazas were just a short walk away. Everyone out on the streets was respectful and polite and we felt very safe as 3 women traveling together. As for the hotel itself, it is small and incredibly quiet and intimate. The owners stop by regularly and the manager and some staff are around all day for anything you might need. A HUGE thank you to Aarón, who helped us with everything from minor details to arranging transport and excursions. He and his colleagues are a wealth of knowledge, and incredibly kind and patient. Our room was clean and very comfortable, and the property is beautiful and a nice reprieve from the busy streets. We really felt we were at home during our stay and were sad to leave. The breakfast is also quite good! Highly recommend."
