The arrival was a bit disastrous. No receptionist, no bell, no one in site. I waited roughly 20 minutes rather than being in the water before sunset which was my aim. When they guy arrived he didn't apologize and the worst part is that he took a girl that arrived after me and she was already checked in and had tons of questions for her ride to Cancun the next day.. which i felt was inappropriate considering i arrived first and i had not checked in. As the check in continued, the receptionist said he liked my eyes (ok fine) and then asked my age (so strange). Then he walked me to my room that was tight (not a lot of space to walk around) and he stayed there for over ten minutes (not exaggerating !!!) showing me the fan and the bathroom and telling me no one could see in the window in the bathroom and touching my shirt to show me i can hang my clothes... i mean come on.. who doesnt know what a hanger is. He finally left me alone but it was a little uncomfortable. I don't think he meant anything bad but it wasn't professional. Now for access to the rooms, there is a large step. If you have a leg or knee problem, it's a steep step. I am not sure why they didn't just add a smaller step like they did to get to breakfast. - "Casa Baloo was a little hard to find but it was worth it. Very new room with comfortable bed and pillows. The pool is a perfect way to relax and cool off after a hot day under the Yucatan sun; the rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean; and our favorite part, the rooftop, was the perfect spot for sunrises and sunsets, having a drink and even doing yoga (which was so kindly organized for us by Lucy and served as a wonderful way to wake up and get moving). It is an easy 5 min walk to the beach and the town is super safe to go out for dinner or a walk at any time of the night. There are great restaurants in town, from sophisticated chef owned places & wine bars to authentic mexican fare. However the best food we had at the Baloo restaurant which is a small, cozy, open air place under palm trees right next to the hotel. Breakfast and lunches are crafted by Lucy who has tremendous passion for food, great technique and used fresh ingredients. My tip: chilaquiles ! And that is why beyond the spaces and amenities, the attention to detail and genuine care and effort put in by the team is what really made this stay memorable. Can't wait to be back ! "

They have a young man serving as their liaison. He did not return our calls prior to check in. Then the power in town went out in town while we were waiting for him. We weren’t able to check in until evening. Fortunately, we met the person renting the room next to ours at a restaurant. He returned to the restaurant after dark to let us know a key was left in the lock. We only received 2 bath towels for 3 nights. No hand or kitchen towels. The kitchen sponge was NASTY."
