- "Our first day was a bit rough as there were issues with the water filtration system, par for the course for less developed areas in the Philippines. If it were not for Kuya Greken, the property caretaker, and his quick response with jugs of purified water and buckets, I would have given less stars. However, Kuya Grekens superhero timely response and his million dollar smile made all the difference. The location was great, you just have to wait a little longer for trikes at night as there are fewer trikes available in the late night hours. Its good to make friends with tricycle drivers during the day, dont be afraid to exchange phone numbers as you can pre-schedule rides directly with drivers. Its a flat rate of P300 from where the property is. The property itself was perfect for our needs. The only request I would make is to offer a bigger rice cooker and have more big cooking pots available. However, we were able to borrow some and a cutting board from Kuya Greken. There is a market close to the property where you can get most of what you need to cook at home. The house was cleaned daily, every time we came home in the evening, it was freshly cleaned and swept! We had the best time in El Nido as a family, reunited after 17yrs, thanks Kuya Greken for making our experience memorable!"

Neighborhood overview
Corong Corong, where Karuna El Nido is located, is the next Barangay to the south of El Nido. We are line of sight 200m away from the ocean, up in the hills. Corong Corong was previously a sleepy satellite of El Nido town with mostly small native resorts.
This is changing rapidly since 3 years with new establishments, hip restaurants like Altrove, Therry’s Burger, Piggy’s bar, Stunning Republic, live music and entertainment. Dive operations like Submariner are also located right in Corong Corong for all your scuba diving needs.

Getting around
To get around in El Nido you have various options.
1. Most guests ride with the tricycle for a few Pesos wherever they want to go close by.
2. For trips a bit further like Nacpan beach you might want to rent a van.
3. We at Karuna offer you our own van rental, ask at frondesk
4. We rent on a daily basis our scooters
5. We rent out two private cars on a daily basis

If taking a mini van from Puerto Princesa airport, instruct the van driver to let you down at Corong Corong, by the Overlooking Resort road.
If taking a tricycle or van from the El Nido airport please instruct the van or tricycle driver to go to Corong Corong, and take the Overlooking Resort Road, you will need to go up the road and immediately take a straight right unto Karuna's dirt road, go all the way up to the cement road and you'll end in Karuna's front office.

You can take a tricycle from the airport (they roughly cost around Php 300-400). Tell the trike driver to go to Corong -Corong. Right after the El Nido National High School make a left to Overlooking Resort...DO NOT GO ALL THE WAY UP to the left…30 meters up the Overlooking Rd turn right into a dirt road which will lead you to our Karuna El Nido Front office. You can arrange transport if done in advance via Karuna El Nido.

Directions from Puerto Princesa to Karuna El Nido:
When taking the van from Puerto Princesa you end up at the bus Terminal in El Nido. Call us from there and we pick you up +63 945 583 5122.

Set atop the slope that gives Karuna its outstanding ocean views, Joglo is an Indonesian style villa made in Java from recycled teak, Palem and Paras stone, created in the “Joglo” design with a soaring ceiling 6 meters high, crowned with an intricately carved “tumpang sari” centerpiece. There is a 30 square meter terrace to relax on directly in front of a 7 meter wide floor to ceiling window-wall for unobstructed views over the bay. The Joglo has a 12 m2 enclosed outdoor bathroom with high pressure/hot shower, 2 meter long stone bath tub, hair dryer, and 600g/m towel assortment. In your 48 m2 bedroom, there is a 40” Smart TV, wifi, adjoining kitchenette with full size refrigerator, induction stovetop, toaster/oven, kettle & French press cafetière, and a full complement of utensils and glasses. To cradle your dreams is a king size bed dressed in 300 thread count Indian cotton sheets with an additional bed in spare that can be provided if needed. For your computer time needs there is a beautiful acacia wood desk and chair to install yourself at, or maybe just use it as a makeup table.

Neighborhood overview
Corong Corong, where Karuna El Nido is located, is the next Barangay to the south of El Nido. We are line of sight 200m away from the ocean, up in the hills. Corong Corong was previously a sleepy satellite of El Nido town with mostly small native resorts.
This is changing rapidly since 3 years with new establishments, hip restaurants like Altrove, Therry’s Burger, Piggy’s bar, Stunning Republic, live music and entertainment. Dive operations like Submariner are also located right in Corong Corong for all your scuba diving needs.

Getting around
To get around in El Nido you have various options.
1. Most guests ride with the tricycle for a few Pesos wherever they want to go close by.
2. For trips a bit further like Nacpan beach you might want to rent a van.
3. We at Karuna offer you our own van rental, ask at frondesk
4. We rent on a daily basis our scooters
5. We rent out two private cars on a daily basis

If taking a mini van from Puerto Princesa airport, instruct the van driver to let you down at Corong Corong, by the Overlooking Resort road.
If taking a tricycle or van from the El Nido airport please instruct the van or tricycle driver to go to Corong Corong, and take the Overlooking Resort Road, you will need to go up the road and immediately take a straight right unto Karuna's dirt road, go all the way up to the cement road and you'll end in Karuna's front office.

Other things to note
We are not wheelchair friendly since the units are built into the hills -You must be prepared and be able to walk one or two flights of stairs
To get to El Nido you have 2 options:
Option 1: Fly with Airswift wwwairswiftcom directly to Lio Airport and take a 25min van or tricycle ride to us.
Option 2: Fly with several other Philippine airlines to Puerto Princesa and take a 5 hour bus ride with a minivan or a taxi.

Directions from Lio El Nido Airport:
You can take a tricycle from the airport (they roughly cost around Php 300-400). Tell the trike driver to go to Corong -Corong. Right after the El Nido National High School make a left to Overlooking Resort...DO NOT GO ALL THE WAY UP to the left…30 meters up the Overlooking Rd turn right into a dirt road which will lead you to our Karuna El Nido Front office. You can arrange transport if done in advance via Karuna El Nido.

Directions from Puerto Princesa to Karuna El Nido:
When taking the van from Puerto Princesa you end up at the bus Terminal in El Nido. Call us from there and we pick you up +63 945 583 5122.

Do note that we do not arrange airport transfers at the last minute. Please e-mail us your flight details at least a week before arrival and ask for a proper quotation to be paid at the front desk upon arrival.

The Tumpang Sari Villa sets well up on the property and offers amazing panoramic views over Bacuit Bay, all the Joglos below, and the main swimming pool. It has two bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms, kingsize beds/300 thread count Indian cotton sheets, and the possibility to convert the main salon into a third bedroom with a luxurious pull out couch that becomes a real kingsize bed.
