Nestled in the residential area of Lio, our cabin offers a peaceful retreat away from the hustle & bustle of downtown El Nido. This serene setting is perfect for travelers seeking tranquility & a deeper connection with nature.

While we are just a short distance from town, the relaxed spaciousness of our location is what our guests cherish most. Those with a preference for more fast-paced touring may benefit from selecting a more central location.

Palawan's local electric company, PALECO sometimes has scheduled power interruptions. There are also spontaneous cuts due to certain challenges in heavily forested areas. We do not have a generator, but provide a solar charging ventilator & lights. 🔦 Electricity generally returns within a few hours & the A/C can keep the space well cooled throughout an evening. We do encourage guests to keep devices & power banks charged in this event.

The Philippines only has two seasons: wet & dry. Both have their distinct perks & drawbacks, so we encourage guests to be prepared for sudden weather shifts. ⛈️🌞🌦️ Sun protection, mosquito repellent, quick-dry clothing & footwear and a degree of flexibility are essential to maximizing the local island life.

The space
Tuko Kubo is situated above the rustic fishing village of Lamoro, approximately 10 kilometres from the old town of El Nido and 4 kilometres to the conveniences of Lio Beach, airport, bars, restaurants, pharmacy, ATM.
Our location is perfect for explorers, and is exactly halfway between the two best beache in the area, Nacpan to the north and Maremegmeg to the south.

Developed in 2023 from local native materials, TukoKubo offers expertly hand-crafted eastern accommodation with all the conveniences of modern western standards.

The property sits atop a hill, beside the rainforest and set way back from the road, with a staggered floor-plan, comprising three adjoining open-plan square units of a little under 5 metres x 5 metres each, giving a total of over 70 square metres of space to relax in. The back level hosts the mountain spring-water bathroom, changing area and then fully fitted kitchen. The centre level hosts the bedroom & lounge, and the foremost front level is the magnificent all wood outside covered terrace/dining area.

If you are coming to El Nido for bar hopping, then it's highly recommend not choosing TukoKubo.
However, if you're here for island hopping, exploring and adventure, with an appreciation for the natural beauty our planet has to offer, then welcome to our home!

Guest access
Guests can utilize the entire house, which is more or less 70 square metres or almost 800 square feet.
That's all yours and only yours, but both available detached properties do share a common entrance pathway & car-park.

Other things to note
Transportation
In the short time we have been doing this, our only minor complaints have been about the distance from the town being somewhat prohibiting late at night and if travelling alone or on-foot with no scooter or car.
We have taken this on-board and can now organize tricycles and private vehicles on behalf of our guests at reasonable rates at reasonable hours. However, many of these will not pick up / drop-off guests from/to the doorstep.
The property is almost 300 metres to the main road, hence the overlooking view, and so unless fit/active, this may pose a problem for elderly folk.
Worthy of note:- If you somehow fail to read this, please understand it is not our duty nor responsibility to drive you around, nor pick you up at 3 a.m. We can arrange paid rides, subject to availability.

Towels
Another gripe we seem to get is that we do not supply towels. We have family in similar business who have a lot of their towels go missing and we didn't want to go down the road of asking for a deposit upon guests arrival. I wouldn't like that, and so as a compromise, we are in the process of getting some TukoKubo towels made. We will sell these to guests
arriving without towels to keep as souveneirs.
We will update this as soon as the stocks arrive.

Electricity
People understand that in far flung places, electricity isn't the most reliable, and here is no exception. Especially in the rainy season.
We do not believe in polluting the atmosphere with fumes from noisy generators, and thus, there will come the occasion where the local grid will go down for an hour or two. We will be installing solar in the future, but it's not cheap.
Luckily we closed in the rainy season where this issue is at its peak, and so for now, we supply emergency lights and fully charged portable electric fans for these inconveniences.

Internet
Internet was always a problem in El Nido. I remember when we first lived here in 2011 I had a USB type 'dongle' hanging out of the side of the laptop attached to electrical wire and metal coat-hangers in the hope of something more than 5 kb per week!
I am pleased to say that those days are long behind us and we now have Elon's Starlink satellite internet, sporting speeds of up to 100mbps.

TV/Cable
Cable doesn't service this area at this time, but we do have 55" smart TV's which do come equipped with Youtube, Amazon Prime and Netflix. Youtube is obviously free to use, but we ask you to log into Netflix with your own account.

We do hope that this doesn't put you off of reserving a room with us, but feel that complete transparency is of utmost importance when trying to establish a new business.
It really is a superb location and a beautiful house.

The space
The Cabin is located in Nacpan Beach which is a four-kilometer strip of cream-colored sand and coconut trees with crystal clear turquoise water. It is located 17th kilometers north of the El Nido town proper in Palawan. This powdery paradise was one of the secret getaways for some tourists until its beauty was discovered by many and eventually became one of the most popular tourist spots in El Nido.
In 2016, it was voted the world’s 10th best beach by users of travel rating website Trip Advisor.

If you are a fan of sunsets, it is best to arrive before 5 PM so you can catch the sun dip behind the horizon and paint the sky above Nacpan Beach beautiful shades of orange and pink.
