Be tantalised by turquoise lakes flashing in and out of view on the way to this old
farmhouse. It stands alone amid wild flowers, and borders the National Park where
golden eagles soar, and olives and peppers ripen in the sun. Rikke and Michael (who
live round the back) have created a little beach by the lake and there’s magical footdangling
to be had from the pontoon. These spotless open-plan studio apartments with
their kitchenettes, shower rooms and terraces are cosy, bright and functional; three are
upstairs and three are down. Bag one of the bigger ones on the first floor for
mesmerising views over one of the three lakes. The apartments are simple but there are
some individual touches too: hand-stitched quilts, family paintings. Listen out for the
baker who brings deliciously fresh bread three times a week, and note the onsite shop
for bare essentials. Lap up the unspoilt outdoorsy flavour with fantastic walking,
kayaking, biking, swimming and fishing – or just relax.

Activities: By the lake you will find different restaurants and picnic sites as the area is a quite popular excursion spot. Here you have the option to do different water sports such as kayak or canoeing. You can even fish in the lake, we have a couple of fine fishing rods for free disposal. Do you enjoy walking or mountain biking you will find several marked walking paths across the fields. And the mountains behind our finca have some of Spain's best possibilities for mountain climbing. Paragliding and Repelling is also very popular. The beautiful lakes and the amazing mountains are just outside the door of your holiday apartment. Kayaks and water bikes are rented out at 3 different places by the lakes. Here you also find different picnic places where you can enjoy yourselves for a whole day. Paragliding points are only 1,5 km. from the finca and the mountains behind gives you some of the best climbing or rappelling challenges in Spain. Also endless kilometers of hiking and biking routes.

Nature: The nature reserve by our finca is called Desfiladero de los Gaitones and has an area of 2.016 hectares situated between the municipalities of Ardales, Antequera og Alora. The area is characterized by its many funny and fascinating stone structures which have evolved through thousands of years by water and wind. A dramatic and lovely tourist attraction is La Garganta del Chorro; a 3 kilometer long and 400 meter high gorge, which connect the three lakes; Embalse de Gaitanejo, Embalse del Conde de Guadalhorce og Embalse del Guadalteba-guadalhorce by the river Guadlahorce that runs to the coast of Málaga. The area's flora is a true pleasure for everyone. There are lots of aromatic pine, eucalyptus, olive, oak tree, cactus and cypress. Smaller vegetation as rosemary, thyme, wild roses and different flowers make small bushes up to 40 cm high. No matter the time of the year the nature is always covered in the most beautiful colors and the air is fresh and clean.

Culture: El Arpa is close to Malaga and some of the World's most appreciated cultural treasures such as the impressive Alhambre Palace in Granada, the big Moorish mosque in Cordoba with the beautiful columns, La Giralda cathedral in Seville and not to forget the bullring and the impressive bridge in Ronda. Malaga has been going through a huge development both cosmetic and cultural during the last 10 years. In 2003 the opening of the impressive Picasso Museum took place and today it exhibits more than 200 pieces of his art. Also a visit to the village museum by the Alcazaba-Gibralfaro- fortress and the roman theatre is very interesting. Picasso's native home and the magnificent cathedral. Or maybe just a walk through the city with all its life, small alleys with busy coffee bars and modern shops on the renovated main street Calle Marques de Larios. Everywhere lots of life and joy. Antequera is a very historic city and the city with the highest amount of churches per inhabitant in Spain (200).

- "Myself and my partner had a wonderfully peaceful 9 days at El Arpa finca. Situated in the mountains just outside Malaga with private access to a lake, it is the ideal location for a quiet getaway. We felt well looked after both before and during our visit - the hosts were always easily contactable and went as far as to suggest activities and local restaurants that we may like to book before our holiday. The apartment itself was neat and tidy. It was clean and had everything we would need, and included a welcome bottle of wine and tostadas (thank you!). We were impressed with the effort the hosts are making to offer environmentally friendly accommodation, and think the store room is a great idea as it is not easy to quickly nip to the local shops. The room was homely and in keeping with Spanish tradition. It is not a “new build” type of accommodation, which is perfect for us as we like to stay places that have a bit of character. For those seeking a 5* luxury hotel this probably isn’t the right place to stay, but be assured it was certainly beautiful, charming and kept very clean. The location of El Arpa is very tranquil. The other people staying in the apartments were respectful of each other and as the apartments are for 2 people maximum the atmosphere during our stay was calm and relaxing. The apartment had a fan, which was much needed in the Spanish summer heat! And mosquito repellent. But no air conditioning, which was ok as the evenings were quite cool. There was a book filled with lots of information and suggestions on places to go during our stay and we did visit several places based on these suggestions. The surrounding area is perfect for people who like exploring; although having a hire car is a must. We were busy most days and would still come back to explore more. There are several national parks within an hour or so driving. We also went rock climbing, visited the local wolf sanctuary, went quad biking and of course visited the caminito del ray - so there is plenty to do! But El Arpa is also a perfect place to stay and relax during the day for those wanting to wind down. All in all, we can't speak highly enough of El Arpa, we had an amazing holiday and would happily come back in the future. We also felt the price was very reasonable, hence why we were able to stay for 9 days instead of a week. Thank you to Rikke and Michael for being so accommodating and kind and providing such a lovely place for people like us to enjoy :). "

- "Wonderful place to stay in old part of Antequera. Great property - extremely clean. Lots of room with all the amenities you come to expect these days with air conditioning and good wifi. Great communication with Rupert our host. I would highly recommend." - "We were very happy with the property overall. It is very spacious and generally very peaceful with free on-street parking within a few minutes’ walk. There is a little house shop in the next street for essentials and a great bar (La Socorrilla) up the hill for tasty and very reasonably priced food and drinks. (We heartily recommend the mixed tapas at €12 for an enormous pot-luck assortment.) The kitchen is great for home cooking but you have to provide your own oil, vinegar, pepper, spices, etc. Unfortunately we did find the bed in the front bedroom a little uncomfortable and rather short so it might not suit a six-footer. Also, on several days we were disturbed by the neighbours’s radio on a very high volume, which particularly affected the front bedroom during the day. Nevertheless we would happily recommend this property to friends and family - especially those with a reasonable level of fitness for tackling the layout of Antequera."

Housing inscribed in the Tourist Registry of Andalusia, with number VFT / MA / 10439. This house is located in the historic center of Antequera, just 10 meters from the zero kilometer of Andalusia, in the Plaza de S. Sebastian. This house, with 4 balconies overlooking the main street, makes it a privileged site to see Antequerana Holy Week. My accommodation is good for couples, adventurers, business travelers, and families.

The accommodation is well equipped, with a large TV in the living room and two small ones in each room. And as a colophon, you can enjoy a panoramic terrace overlooking the Alcazaba and the Tower of the Church of S. Sebastian. The area is surrounded by restaurants and a Maskom supermarket on the same street. In addition, there are small shops in the surroundings.

- "The apartment was great. Well appointed with everything we needed for our 3 night stay. Our arrival was a bit of a mix-up as the owner communicates mainly through What's App and we did not have access to that. But with the help of some lovely neighbors we were able to get in touch with Marga and she was there to help us almost immediately. - "This apartment is located near to the central shopping and restaurant areas but allowing an easy exit from town towards the amazing El Torcal NP. The apartment building is #35 but note that there are other buildings numbered 35A...G which is confusing - #35 is the lowest down the street just below the police station (on the other side). Parking on the streets might be possible if you are prepared to search and walk - otherwise its 10 Euros a day to use the private garage underneath the apartment building (cash to the owner - you have to say how many days, in advance). The apartment is on the third floor (there's an elevator). It is spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished in classic style (antique furniture) and well equipped. There are two bathrooms (one with a shower) off the central hall along with three good sized bedrooms. The living room is spacious, elegant and comfortable. There are small terraces off the kitchen and bedroom with a bigger terrace off the master bedroom. The terraces have different orientations so catch the sun at different times of day. We didn't have any problem with noise from the apartments below. We enjoyed our stay, thank you."

Apartamento Buena Vista is in a small block of eleven apartments, ideally situated on the edge of the village with magnificent views of the surrounding hills and mountain scenery, and with views of the Costa Del Sol in the distance. Within a short walking distance there are bars, restaurants, supermarkets, shops and the other facilities to be found in the village.
This review, to some extent, typifies the type of holiday one might expect to enjoy, while staying for a fortnight in July in Apartamento Buena Vista:- "We had a lovely holiday staying in Apartamento Buena Vista. We were at the pool every day, and eating out in the village in the evening. We enjoyed breakfasting al fresco on the balcony, and some of us enjoyed a siesta in a cool darkened room. Our guests, who have stayed in the Autumn, Winter, and Spring, spend time on the terrace in mild, sunny weather; they appreciate being within five minutes on foot from shops and restaurants in a lovely, friendly village; they use the apartment as a convenient base to visit the many cultural attractions etc. of Andalucia, such as Alhambra Palace and the Mezquita. UK tv channels through the internet are available, using guests own tablet/laptop, if it can be connected to the tv; an Amazon Fire Stick is available. The lounge/dining room and has sofas and an armchair, dining furniture. table lamps, coffee tables, original paintings, ornaments, satellite TV, a hi-fi system, and air-conditioning/heating. There is an adjoining terrace with chairs and a table. The master bedroom is complete with double wardrobe, bedside cabinets, table lamps, original paintings, and with patio doors opening onto an adjoining circular terrace. There are two twin bedrooms with built in double wardrobes, bedside tables and table lamps; these bedrooms are wonderfully light and airy: one has patio doors and the other a full length picture window. The master bedroom and one of the twin-bedded rooms have air-conditioning/heating. There is an inner terrace with a garden: a delightful area in which to relax and enjoy the plants. The paintings in the lounge, dining area, hall and bedrooms are Nalini Cook's original works. From the master bedroom patio doors open onto a curved terrace with excellent panoramic views across to the Torcal and the surrounding hills and mountains and there is a larger terrace with access from the lounge with similar views. The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped with gas hob and electric fan oven.The inner terrace is a secluded outdoor area, a lovely place to enjoy the plants and flowers all the year round in the small garden. The bathroom has a full sized bath with shower, vanity unit, toilet and bidet.
There are three terraces: the main terrace, facing East and entered through sliding patio doors from the living room, offers wonderful views of mountains and the surrounding countryside, To the South the sea can be seen in the distance, and further round, because of its elevated position, there are views over the roof tops of the houses in the village, The circular terrace, facing North East and entered through patio doors from the master bedroom, affords magnificent views of the buttresses of El Torcal, the mountain, which overlooks Villanueva De La Concepcion. The inner terrace, entered from the dining area, is another place to enjoy an alfresco drink, especially when it is lit up at night. Parking is nearby: downstairs outside the apartment building. We charge guests for the electricity they use during their stay at the rate of £0.18/€0,21 per kwh unit.

- "Barry, the owner , couldn't have been more helpful and helped us find transport from the airport ,to El Torcal and El Chorro as we had no car. The scenery and rock-formation at El Torcal is stunning. We got a lift to the visitors' centre as it's up-hill all the way but enjoyed a lovely walk at the top and easily managed the walk back to the apartment. El Chorro is spectacular but make sure you reserve your tickets before you go on holiday as we only just managed to scrape in on our last day there.You can google both of these places.Have a look at El Chorro on youtube but don't be put off by it looking scary.I'm afraid of heights and was quite prepared to have to steel myself to do it but the path is wide and it' s no where near as scary as it looks - I wasn't scared at all. If you google it look at the old as well as the new path! There are lovely walks right on the doorstep so although a car isn't essential if you want to get the full benefit of this beautiful part of Spain it would be a bonus. There are a lot of bars in the town within easy reach and the food and drinks are lovely at VERY reasonable prices. Most don't speak English but you'll find menus in English and everyone was very helpful. The balcony gets the sun all day and the apartment is excellent value for money - especially with Barry as a bonus!! We went late Sept/early Oct and the weather was fantastic but not humid and there was usually a gentle breeze.You might need a cardi/fleece for the evenings."
