Situated on a clifftop with 10 acres of beautifully forested land with unparalleled views of the Salish Sea, Mt. Denman & Desolation Sound. Surrounded by The Williams Beach Trail System which provides many kilometres of woodland hiking. There is no beach access from the property but we're just a short walk to the Alders Beach which offers long stretches of sand for walking, swimming and exploring tidal pools. Your hosts are happy to assist you in any way they can to make your stay memorable.
The space
A completely separate and private 2 bedroom apartment (plus living room pull-out) unit that is spacious, open concept and newly renovated. The kitchen is a cook's joy with brand-new appliances, an induction range, is fully stocked to make dining special and makes vacation cooking feel like home away from home. Every window looks out onto classic west coast views. Walk out on to your private patio, with gas fire-bowl, to enjoy ever-changing panoramas of the Georgia Strait and the West Coast Mountains. Relax and enjoy unparalleled activities in the area that is world famous for wildlife, whale watching, alpine climbing, skiing, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, fishing and a host of other activities the area has to offer.
Guest access
Feel free to access the orchard, seating around the pond, and your private patio with a fire-bowl. Please note we have horses and alpacas that use the front field so access to that area is not permitted. we are situated atop a steep cliff, approximately 150 meters above the Sea, so there is no beach access from the property. The Alders Beach, however, is a short 10-15 minute walk from the premises.

Barbecue available year-round. Cozy wood fire for apres-ski and a patio fire bowl for your enjoyment.

Welcome to our ocean view home! We are eager to share a beautiful piece of paradise with you. Our small resort community offers an embarrassment of riches with easy access to alpine activities, nautical adventure and seaside fun at one of the most beautiful sandy beaches on Vancouver Island. Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay, just steps from the water at Saratoga Beach. Lay your head and relax your heart and mind at Selkies' Rest.
The space
A nautical-themed ground floor 2 bedroom apartment in our home. You will enter via a very practical porch area where you can leave shoes, toys, sandy beach towels, fishing rods, skis, snowboards, small bicycles, coats... or anything else you need to facilitate your Island Adventure!
Inside you will find an open concept dining and living space, flanked by a beautiful live edge pass through counter into the kitchenette. Past the 3 piece bathroom you will find one Queen bedroom, and one with a Single over Double bunk bed. Both bedrooms are carpeted and spacious, boasting plenty of closet storage. And did we mention that both rooms offer ocean and mountain views?!
The whole suite is completely separate and private from our living quarters. It's quiet, though we will sometimes hear each other going about our days. The yard is a serene park-like setting defined by large open spaces surrounded by grand douglas fir trees. You will find that you have very easy access to fishing, beach, river and many other exciting local activities.
In summertime parking in the area can be a challenge, so we welcome you to leave your vehicle while you easily walk or bike to most of the local fun!
Guest access
While we prefer to keep our yard and vegetable gardens private we encourage you to enjoy the sprawling concrete dining patio and small green lawn space adjacent to the suite! The outdoor space is complete with table, umbrella, chairs, benches and a large Natural Gas BBQ.
During your stay
We have known and loved Central Vancouver Island for decades. If we are home you will likely see us puttering in our yard, or otherwise generally enjoying life in and around our home. We are happy to leave you with plenty of privacy, and equally happy to say hello and offer suggestions for things to see and do!
