This private two-bedroom suite in Deep Bay is a short walk from the ferry terminal on Bowen Island. Light pours into the garden-level dwelling from big windows overlooking your private covered patio with comfy lounge chairs.

Inside is a simple and clean kitchen with a glass range and large fridge and freezer. A BBQ is available for guest use, if you want to venture outside of the kitchen. We have most of the kitchen items you need to cook a meal, but for guest safety we are currently not providing any pantry basics. We do provide tea and coffee for the first night of your stay (Keurig and individually packaged tea bags). There is a French Press for those who prefer to bring your own favourite roast with you.

A table for four sits in the open layout living/kitchen space, which also has a comfy couch and two chairs. There's a smart TV in the living space where you can sign on to Netflix, Prime etc.

The bedrooms are comfortable and quiet, and keep cool during hot summer months. The bathroom is sleek and has a nice deep bathtub - ready for you to have a relaxing soak, or if you prefer a shower there are dual shower heads.

You will be minutes away from many great things to do on Bowen Island - no car required. Pebbly Beach is a rocky beach located on the north side of Mannion Bay on Bowen Island and is a semi-secluded spot for swimming - you can walk there in around 3-5 minutes. Snug Cove (where the ferry comes in) is a very pleasant 10 to 15 minute jaunt away – restaurants, shops etc. Killarney Lake, a great picnic spot with lots of trails, is also walking distance.

For those of you not familiar with the area, West Vancouver and Vancouver downtown is only a short ferry ride away and it is a pretty little trip. Day-trips to the mainland, even all via public transportation are possible- just watch the ferry schedule for the last one home- it is usually around 10pm. Ferry delays are frequent unfortunately.

Speedy wifi and a serene environment makes this a great option for anyone who works remotely, but wants a break from the city and a chance to see the stars.

This suite is set up for adults, not for children and we are officially no pets.

The LAZY B WATERFRONT SUITE is completely self-contained and separate from the LAZY BOWEN HIDEAWAY. This property is a cottage/duplex with extensive improvements providing separation and privacy. THE LAZY B WATERFRONT SUITE SLEEPS UP TO 2 GUESTS
The Suite sleeps up to 2 guests in a QUEEN PLUSH TUFT & NEEDLE bed, upgraded FULL-size sleeper sofa, and a TWIN bed. The studio suite provides a semi-separated sleeping area from the living room for the Queen bed and twin mattress. The Sofa Bed is located in the living room area.

CHILD POLICY
DO include your children in the guest count. With the exception of infants that are not yet walking, we do charge for all guests including children. Unlike simple hotel rooms, we have complete homes with full kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, living & dining rooms to spotlessly clean. Our housekeepers do an excellent job of cleaning after each turnover to provide a thoroughly clean accommodation for the next guest, and this all takes additional time with additional guests. Plus all guests use bedding, water, towels, and other amenities.

An all-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicle the size of a Ford Explorer or smaller is required to drive our Access Road / Driveway. Road. Or, you may choose to park your 2 wheel drive vehicle at the top of the road and take the 5-minute walk down to the cottage. Parking is free.

After you exit the ferry follow the signs to the bus stop, catch the 281 bus to Eagle Cliff, and the driver will drop you at the top of our driveway, Cleator Road. Be sure to tell the driver your destination. The cost is $3.50, and the ride is only 15 minutes.

SEPARATION AND PRIVACY UPGRADES
The LAZY BOWEN HIDEAWAY and the LAZY B WATERFRONT SUITE have had extensive sound abatement upgrades between the rentals. The LAZY B WATERFRONT SUITE ceiling has been refurbished with 2 layers of Roxul Safe n Sound, Z - Channels with Quiet Rock attached (equal to 8 layers of sheetrock) plus soundproof caulking around the perimeter of the Suite. SUCCESS…..Voices and normal TV noises have been removed, a 300% improvement. The footfall from the Hideaway above is muffled and greatly improved but cannot be eliminated 100%.

HEALTHY AIR CIRCULATION
We have installed a Heat Recovery Ventilation System which continuously circulates warmed fresh outside air throughout the property. Also, the storage and basement areas have been lined with Clean Space Liner sealing out all moisture created by the rock sub-floors……….no musty cabin smells…….all FRESH HEALTHY AIR INSIDE AND OUT.

The space
The Ocean Forest Retreat has peep views facing the spectacular Howe Sound Mountain. The suite is an open concept with a cozy and modern design. Covered outdoor living space allows for year-round barbecues.

The suite has a full kitchen, heated floors, a smart TV for all of your streaming and computer connectivity, Bluetooth audio for your playlists or podcasts, and lots of board games

The suite can accommodate 3 people (or 2 adults and 2 kids). One luxury queen-size bed in the bedroom and a pullout double-size sofa bed in the living room.

The kitchen has a fridge, electrical stove, oven, microwave, hot water kettle, and a French Press coffee machine. There are pots, pans, utensils, plates, salts, and peppers available in the suite. Also, a BBQ on the covered patio with a side burner for our guests to cook.

There is beach access close by, (7min walk), and a lot of trails around.

The guest suite is on the ground level of the house. There are staircases going up to the suite from the parking space. The guest suite has its own entrance and private covered patio, which is facing the Howe Sound mountain and the ocean. It is self check-in and out.

We do not mean vacuuming or dusting but a general putting away, putting pillows back, removing collected rocks, sticks and shells, that kind of thing. We are proud of our team of outstanding Bowen housekeepers… showing gratitude for their good work is appreciated. Linens - no need to strip beds. Towels - damp towels and used cloths can be tossed in the shower. Kitchen: Please wash the glasses, dishes, pots and pans
and put them away. Remove any leftover food from the fridge. Please make sure all bags are tied tightly to prevent spills and leave recycling and organics separated. Thank you.

Dogs only upon request and only non-shedding dogs for an additional charge. A damage deposit for a dog is required. A penalty of $1000 will be applied if this rule is not followed.

There are two outdoor security cameras on the property. One at the main entrance, the second one pointing at the driveway.

While it is across the road from the water, it’s up high enough to enjoy the views and not have traffic sounds or fumes. Owner is kind and responsive. THE SUITE:
Totally renovated, updated, and rebranded to coincide with the launch of our new Forest Spa experience,the Blue Suite at the Ark is relaunching in the winter of 2024. The Blue Suite is the larger of two suites at the house (the other is called The Green Suite at The Ark on Bowen). One could rent both suites to accommodate up to 5 people on separate beds.
The Blue Suite is suited to a couple or max of three people if you’re comfortable using a daybed or mattress on the floor to accommodate the third guest. It has a has a private entrance accessible from ground level at the front of the house, where you will enjoy fantastic views of forested mountains, the peaceful waters of Killarney Lake, and eagles soaring.
The main, open concept room in the Blue Suite includes the kitchen, dining area nestled by large windows overlooking the front garden with lake views, and a King sized bed that can optionally be pulled apart to make two Twin XL beds (please let us know your preference when you book). The suite also includes an adjoining room that can be used as a cozy and sunny office or second bedroom. It has a daybed that is equipped with two 5" thick foam mattresses. You may use this room to sleep an additional 1 or 2 adults or children, or for a pack n' play travel cribfor an infant (we also have a travel crib available on site, upon request).Alternatively, the room can be used as a private office with a desk and daybed. In addition to access from within the suite, the room has its own separate entryway from the garden. Fresh linens, duvets, and extra down alternative pillows are provided for the beds in the main room closets. There are blackout curtains in this room for our littlest guests (you’re welcome, parents!).
The kitchen is fully equipped (bar fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, Keurig coffee and espresso machine with milk frother, dinnerware, glasses and stemware, pots & pans, etc.). We also provide fair trade, organic tea and Ethical Bean coffee (compostable pods). The room has a large bathroom equipped with a full size bath and shower combo, toilet, and an antique wood vanity with a vessel sink and fountain faucet.
We provide 100% organic cotton towels, a hairdryer, hand soap, body soap, daily shampoo and conditioner (a Montreal based, Canadian company that produces ethical, unscented products). We only use natural, unscented, ethically sourced cleaning products and laundry detergents.
There is a small TV equipped with Roku so you can enjoy Netflix and other platforms that stream shows using your personal accounts, or free offerings.
THE FOREST SPA (LAUNCHING WINTER 2024)
Our new Forest Spa sauna experience is comprised of a sauna building built into the cliff side with views from the sauna window overlooking the forest tree canopy.

Outside, guests can enjoy the same views and while forest bathing and stargazing from 2 sunken plunge baths outfitted with hot and cold water to suit individual tastes and a large private deck that traces the jagged edge of a cliff face of moss-covered stone and ferns.

The Forest Spa sauna experience has been designed for 2 people, for 90 minutes per session.

When guests rent the whole house, they can adjust the guidelines to suit their group. Our whole house listing includes the Main House (sleeps 8), the Green Suite (sleeps 2), and the Blue Suite (sleeps 3) for a total of 13 guests. CLEANING/ COVID-19 RESPONSIVENESS:
Our revised cleaning and disinfecting protocol is guided by the new AirBnb guidelines, which were designed in consultation with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in the US. We commit to following these guidelines carefully in order to ensure the safety of ourselves, our guests, and our island home.
In order to maintain the 3-hour “rest” between guest check out times and cleaning/disinfecting to prepare for the next guest, we have instituted a slightly earlier checkout of 10:30am, and a slightly later checkin of 3:30pm. We will be flexible with check in and check out times when we can be (for example, when there is not another guest checking in after you leave). We appreciate your understanding in this as we are instituting these policies for everybody’s safety.
In order to minimize contact during these unprecedented times, we have instituted a self check in, and will maintain physical distance should we need to make contact with you in person. Your host will be available by phone and text at any time.
PET POLICY:
We are not opposed to four legged guests, but please inquire before booking because we need to be sure that (1) your dog will not be disruptive to other guests; (2) you are willing to bring a dog bed and not allow him/her onto the furniture; (3) that you are willing to pay a cleaning fee that is dependent on the length of your stay because we must undertake a much more thorough cleaning protocol after your stay to ensure that allergy-prone future guests are not affected.
ATTENTION FAMILIES:
We warmly welcome families with children provided parents/caregivers are diligent in maintaining the peaceful tranquility of The Ark on Bowen to respect the peaceful enjoyment of our other guests. If you need use of a travel crib for infants/toddlers, just ask!

Please be advised that the property is perched on a hill that is steep in places. There are wire fences that are meant to prevent adults and kids from falls, but it is advisable that very young children be watched closely when they are outside. The gardens are fun, but potentially dangerous for little ones who do not have sure footing.
If you are in need of babysitting, please let us know wand we may be able to help you out.
The Blue Suite has ground level access at the front of the house. You will have your own entrance and key to get in and out. You will have access to the garden at the front and side of the house. You can also access the trails of Crippen Park and the Killarney Lake loop trail from the bottom of some stairs at the front of the house, OR via the trail entrance you will pass very near the top of our driveway.
The Ark is the only house visible from the beautiful forested trail circling Killarney Lake. It is a short 8 minute drive from Snug Cove (where the ferry from Horseshoe Bay comes in), or a beautiful 45 minute walk or a 20 minute bike ride on the stunning old growth forest trails of Crippen Park, which can be accessed right off the ferry. After your arrival, you can enjoy a peaceful escape and take in gorgeous, expansive views of Killarney Lake and surrounding hills from our well-tended grounds and gardens. Our neighbourhood is low-key, quiet, and family friendly. The Ark is the last house on the secluded country road, and enjoys immediate access from the property to the Killarney Lake Trail and, from there, one of the Mount Gardner trails (where you can enjoy 360 degree views of Howe Sound and Vancouver on a clear day!).
Bowen Island is a 20 minute ferry from Horseshoe Bay to get to Bowen Island using BC Ferries or you can take the Cormorant Water Taxi. The Blue Suite at the Ark on Bowen is a 10 minute drive, 45 minute walk (3.8 km) or 20 minute bike ride from Snug Cove (Snug Cove is where the ferries arrive and where there are restaurants and grocery stores). I would highly recommend walking onto the ferry and then hiking to the property, as the hike takes through old growth forest and around Killarney Lake. I am happy to provide directions if necessary.
* The Blue Suite is the larger of two suites at the Ark on Bowen. The other is called The Green Suite at The Ark on Bowen. The Blue Suite can accommodate up to 4 people and 1 infant, and the Green Suite can accommodate up to 2 adults (King or 2x Twin XL beds) and one more adult or child/infant on a foam floor mattress or pack n' play. * If you are driving, the last stretch of road leading to the house (Fernie Road) is a bit of an adventure as it is a gravel road. Cars with especially low clearance are not recommended, though many have braved it successfully by going slowly and maneuvering around the inevitable pot holes that pop up now and again.

In order to maintain the 3-hour “rest” between guest check out times and cleaning/disinfecting to prepare for the next guest, we have instituted a slightly earlier checkout of 10:30am, and a slightly later checkin of 3:30pm. We will be flexible with check in and check out times when we can be (for example, when there is not another guest checking in after you leave). We appreciate your understanding in this as we are instituting these policies for everybody’s safety.
In order to minimize contact during these unprecedented times, we have instituted a self check in, and will maintain physical distance should we need to make contact with you in person. Your host will be available by phone and text at any time.
PET POLICY:
We are not opposed to four legged guests, but please inquire before booking because we need to be sure that (1) your dog will not be disruptive to other guests; (2) you are willing to bring a dog bed and not allow him/her onto the furniture; (3) that you are willing to pay a cleaning fee that is dependent on the length of your stay because we must undertake a much more thorough cleaning protocol after your stay to ensure that allergy-prone future guests are not affected.

We warmly welcome families with children provided parents/caregivers are diligent in maintaining the peaceful tranquility of The Ark on Bowen to respect the peaceful enjoyment of our other guests.If you need use of a travel crib forinfants/toddlers, just ask!
Please be advised that the property is perched on a hill that is steep in places. There are wire fences that are meant to prevent adults and kids from falls, but it is advisable that very young children be watched closely when they are outside. The gardens are fun, but potentially dangerous for little ones who do not have sure footing.
If you are in need of babysitting, please let us know wand we may be able to help you out with in-house care.
The Green Suite has ground level access at the front of the house. You will have your own entrance and key to get in and out. It is the first of the two suites that you find as you walk along the front pathway. You will have access to the garden at the front and side of the house. You can also access the trails of Crippen Park and the Killarney Lake loop trail from the bottom of some stairs at the front of the house, OR via the trail entrance you will pass very near the top of our driveway.
I'm always available by phone or text message, and if I am away, you will be dealing with my co-host.
The Ark is the only house visible from the beautiful forested trail circling Killarney Lake. It is a short 8 minute drive from Snug Cove (where the ferry from Horseshoe Bay comes in), or a beautiful 45 minute walk or a 20 minute bike ride on the stunning old growth forest trails of Crippen Park, which can be accessed right off the ferry. After your arrival, you can enjoy a peaceful escape and take in gorgeous, expansive views of Killarney Lake and surrounding hills from our well-tended grounds and gardens. Our neighbourhood is low-key, quiet, and family friendly. The Ark is the last house on the secluded country road, and enjoys immediate access from the property to the Killarney Lake Trail and, from there, one of the Mount Gardner trails (where you can enjoy 360 degree views of Howe Sound and Vancouver on a clear day!).
Bowen Island is a 20 minute ferry from Horseshoe Bay to get to Bowen Island using BC Ferries or you can take the Cormorant Water Taxi. The Blue Suite at the Ark on Bowen is a 10 minute drive, 45 minute walk (3.8 km) or 20 minute bike ride from Snug Cove (Snug Cove is where the ferries arrive and where there are restaurants and grocery stores). I would highly recommend walking onto the ferry and then hiking to the property, as the hike takes through old growth forest and around Killarney Lake. I am happy to provide directions if necessary.
* The Green Suite is the smaller of two suites at the Ark on Bowen and is suitable for a couple (in the king bed), two individual travelers who want separate beds, and up to one additional guest who can sleep in a pack n' play or child sized mattress.
* Our other listing is called The Blue Suite at The Ark on Bowen. The Blue Suite can accommodate up to 3 people and 1 infant. Our listing calendars are linked and so if you need more space for your party, look into dates when BOTH are available. We can accommodate up to 5 adultson separate beds between both suites. We also have the main house above, which can accommodate up to 8 adults.
* If you are driving, the last stretch of road leading to the house (Fernie Road) is a bit of an adventure as it is a gravel road. Cars with especially low clearance are not recommended, though many have braved it successfully by going slowly and maneuvering around the inevitable pot holes that pop up now and again.

Walk to trails or the village from this stylish, centrally located suite! Our Treehouse Suite is right in Snug Cove, a short and scenic 5 min walk to BC Ferry dock, restaurants, coffee shops, marina and shops. Convenient to Deep Bay beaches and trails nearby. Snug Cove village, Artisan's Square shops, Killarney Lake trails are all within easy walking distance. This cozy suite is ideal for a couple's romantic getaway or the family break.

The space
Newly renovated 1 bedroom 1 bathroom ground level suite. The private bedroom is cozy with a queen bed, nightstands, and brand new hotel linens and plush pillows. The living room has a fold down double sofa bed for an extra guest. The fully equipped kitchenette includes a microwave, double convection cooktop, toaster oven, dishwasher, pots and pans, utensils, dishes & bowls, and a nespresso coffee maker.

Guest access
Wake up in the morning and walk down to the pier to enjoy some of the best atmosphere at the water's edge and coffee at Tell Your Friends Cafe or Snug Cafe. Or after a day of beaching and/or hiking, wander to town. We are only a 5 min walk from all of this and more in beautiful Snug Cove! Our cozy suite is located in a private home in Bowen Island’s well loved Deep Bay neighbourhood. It is a family friendly neighbourhood, very close to the cove and trails. There is also easy access to two local beaches, each within a 5 minute walk of the house.

The space
You are welcome to sit in the garden area and firepit . Please always close gate so the deer cannot access the garden. The yard is fully fenced and your dog will be safe. It is a very quiet and serene space. The bird song here is incredible. Relax read enjoy the flowers.
