Our 3-day visit enabled us to explore Catania, Syracusa and Taormina. It's a good base for a city break which feels like it offers a more real life experience than just a tourist spot. A wide range of shopping experience possible from many quality individual shops to market stalls. People were friendly and we weren't hustled more than in any other city. We didn't try any bars or clubs. "

Comfortable bed (but it may not suit very tall people or very large people as there are narrow stairs leading to the bedroom that has an arching low ceiling but very nice and quirky. My only criticism (and it is very minor) is that the shower door is a bit tricky to open and close. The area felt very safe, and you can walk to the cathedral square in 10 mins. Easy to catch the bus to Palermo/Syracusa etc from Piazza Paolo Borsellino near the fish market, a 5 min walk away (which saves a longer walk to the bus station). Good idea to book buses in advance online (especially for Palermo) as they get booked up. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay here again if we return. Highly recommend!"

We were in the superior apartment which had plenty of room for the 4 of us, the apartment can accommodate up to 6. We were left some coffee and teabags which was nice. We hired a car but would not recommend this if you are staying locally as the driving is erratic and dangerous and people just come from nowhere, also parking is difficult to find, It is was useful for us as we made day trips to Syracuse and other places. Beware at the tolls, as there are gypsies pretending to be working there, as we approached the tolls a young woman handed us the ticket which she took out of the machine and demanded 5 euros for this which we handed and only realised afterwards it was a con woman, you take your ticket yourself and pay at the other end 1 euro 20! This scam has been going on for over 10 years and aimed at tourists! Also there is a supermarket directly opposite the apartment which sells everything. We enjoyed our stay and the apartment made it for us as we also cooked, the kitchen has everything you need. There is a lift in the building for anyone who cannot manage stairs. "

- "The owners of this property, Maria & Lorenzo were very accommodating and beautiful people and helped us with our wonderful Sicilian vacation. First, they met us at the airport and drove us to to property. They even accommodated one of our family members with parking a rental car, since parking is a bit difficult in this area. The apartment was very clean and upgraded, however, according to US interpretation, this is really only a 2 bedroom with a fold out couch in the living room. One of the bathrooms is located outside of the apartment which is a bit slippery to access when it rains. The washing machine worked perfectly but no clothes dryer is available so we did it the Italian way and hung our clothes on a clothes line. The appliances are new and all worked very well but no microwave or toaster oven is available. The apartment is about a minute walk across the parking lot from a really nice grocery store and not that far from many beautiful sights Catania is known for. I rated the location a bit harsh because the location could be considered a bit sketchy because it is pretty dark at night and activity and view from the balcony is questionable. Daytime felt very safe and evening strolls felt safe in a group. Even though we did not have all the creatures of comfort we are so accustom to, we were able to find ways to adapt to the very normal Italian way of life. Overall, it was a very lovely stay and our family would definitely stay again."
