Cool, spacious, beautifully furnished and conveniently located just 5 minutes’ walk from Matera’s historic Sassi districts, the accommodation included everything we needed for our stay along with a warm welcome from our host. She allowed flexibility in our arrival and departure times which made us less stressed about leaving one town and heading to another. She organized a dinner reservation at our request at a restaurant (Kappador) for our second night in town. The food was fabulous and we were seated on a terrace overlooking the Stassi. She offered secure storage of our rental car in a locked garage 350 meters from the lodging. It was only 15€ extra per day. There was fresh fruit and water awaiting us in the fridge. The place was equipped with a dishwasher, clothes washer, and two fully functioning bathrooms with typical Italian showers. We had our own private outside terrace with table and seating for six with a bamboo awning overhead. There is no central air conditioning, but the portable unit seemed to keep the place a comfortable temperature. Overhead and portable fans in the bedrooms kept the air circulating. The location was a short walk to services, restaurants, and of course - the Sassi. I would highly recommend Agapanthus to anyone considering visiting Matera. The proppery is spacious, clean and well appointed, with off road parking as well. As the property is on the outskirts of Matera it has the benifit of being in easy reach of the local main roads, if you like us want to explore more of the Basilicata area as well as the town of Matera, we also experienced no noise, from these roads. The property is as we have stated is on the outskirts of Matera and a good 20 mins walk from the historic town centre, however we found a good amount of public parking close to the sassi and town centre, mainly using an underground attended car park costing €0.50hr.
