- "I spent a Winter break at the Aparthotel Wooden Villa, so I can't speak for what it's like in Summer. But for my needs, it was perfect. Located in a leafy, mostly residential area but within easy access to touristy Jomas Street and the famous beach. The building is a lovingly restored 19th century beauty. English and Russian instructions and communication is readily available, which I greatly appreciated. I stayed in the one-bedroom apartment. Room was large, clean and spacious, with lots of work space. Couldn't work the coffee maker, and the mattress was so soft it threw me out of bed twice, but those are my only complaints. It is an apartment-style motel. For meals, one must cook for oneself, arrange to have meals delivered, or venture out to the many restaurant choices of Dzintari and Majori. There is also not a 24/7 attendant. Neither of these are problems. I would happily have stayed a full week at the Wooden Villa, and I hope to return."

- "Overall, we liked this hotel and would stay again. We picked this place for the washing machine in the apartment. But it took almost 3 hours to wash one small load, so be prepared if you are going to do laundry. It is just as pictured. Very nicely decorated and clean. The stairs up to the room though were incredibly steep and narrow and not suitable for people who are not fit and steady on their feet. The owner was very friendly and happy to help with details. There is a very clear video showing you how to find the door to the place, and the area is very quiet. When we stayed there was some construction in the next lot but they stayed quiet the two days we stayed there. Parking is safe and in a closed lot for a small fee. This would be a good place to share if you need to get to the Riga airport (we had to drop someone with a very early flight) - it is only about a five minute drive. It is in a residential neighborhood but only a very short drive to the city and Old Town. Also very very easy to drive to Jurmala from this place. "

Cozy room in a shared flat with to other people. It's part of an old building located in the urban centre /but not in the touristsy old town) of beautiful Riga. Many Cafés, Restaurants, shops and Clubs in the same street, a nice 15 minute walk to old town or central station, or 5 minutes by public transport.

Very nice cozy room in a shared flat in a safe Riga downtown neighbourhood. Gertrudes is in the hub of urban cultural life- but off the beaten track of crowded old town. The best Theatre, concert halls, nice bohemian bars and cafes- you'll find them here. Our flat consists of 3 Bedrooms. One with a doublebed, one with a single bed and one with a (very good) sleeping sofa. In the huge living room you can use the cozy chimney. WLAN is provided. You'll have French, Turkish, Georgian or Italian and Latvian Street cafés, one nice cafe is down in the building.
It's a 10-15 minutes walk to old town and the train station.
It is a non-smoking-flat. The price above is for one room and the use of the shared facilities.
