An idyllic lakeside log cottage with modern conveniences and a tasteful contemporary Scandinavian interior. A large one-hectare wooded plot with 300 metres of private shoreline and no immediate neighbours guarantees peace and quiet. 3 double bedrooms sleeping up to 6 (or 7, if at least one child), perfect for families or as a relaxing getaway. There are 2 saunas, one indoors and another just steps away from Lake Kivijärvi, which offers great swimming, rowing and fishing opportunities.
The space
Living room: Generous corner sofa, rocking chair, TV, DVD player, Apple TV, radio, WiFi (throughout the house), fireplace (firewood provided in the shed next to sauna), toys and books for children, board games.
Kitchen/diner: Spacious modern design with fridge/freezer, induction hob, eye-level oven, microwave, coffeemaker, electric kettle, toaster, and crockery/cutlery for 8 - 10. Dining table fits 7 - 8, plus another 6 - 8 on the terrace. Highchair for toddlers. Air source heat pump, which acts as a heater during cooler weather and an air-conditioner when hotter.
NB. NO DISHWASHER. Dish washing by hand in the double sink with a drying cupboard above the sink.
Also: The tap water is SAFE to drink; however, it has a slightly earthy taste to it, which some may find unpleasant. Local supermarkets and the Lemi fire station offer bottle-filling with their tap water free of charge.
Shower room/toilet/indoor sauna: flushing toilet, sink, mirror cabinet, rain shower, hand shower, top-loading washing machine, sauna for 2 - 4 people with a programmable electric stove. Underfloor heating.
Bedroom 1 (downstairs): Double bed (140 x 200 cm), built-in wardrobe for hanging clothes.
Bedroom 2 (master bedroom, upstairs): King-size double bed (160 x 200 cm), bedside tables, chest of drawers, full- length mirror, glass door to the balcony overlooking entrance and the lake.
Bedroom 3 (upstairs): 2 single beds (80 x 190 cm), extendable toddler bed with sides, a cot bed for babies, a small desk, children's toys.
All bedrooms have black-out blinds, but for very sensitive sleepers we recommend an eye mask, as Finnish summer nights are very light! Bedroom windows also have mosquito nets, allowing them to be left open overnight. Bedrooms and the living room also have small electric heaters for cooler days.
AMENITIES
Lakeside sauna: Wood-burning stove with a water-heater, seating space for up to 6, electric pump piping water from the lake onto a waterbutt (no shower). Approx. 30 steps from the swimming platform. Good swimming facility - water depth ca. 150 cm from the end of the platform (no diving head first!). Gently sloping shore making it safer for children.

New gas barbecue and a small electric barbecue on the terrace of the main house (please clean after using)
Barbecue hut: wood-burning open fire pit with a fire guard, tools and benches

2 outdoor sleeping cabins: 'Iltarusko' ('Dusk') sleeping 2 on a sofa bed, and 'Käenpesä' ('Cuckoo's Nest') sleeping 2 on a bunk bed and a 3rd on a single bed. The cabins have electricity but no other amenities.

Other things to note
Tap water is not recommended as drinking water for small children or pregnant women. We shall leave some drinking water to you on arrival, and you can fill water butts for free at Lemi fire station.
There is no dishwasher.
If you want to fish, please find out for yourselves whether you need a fishing permit for Lake Kivijärvi.
Please note that if you bring your own bedlinen (bedsheets, single duvet covers and pillow cases) and towels, we can give you a 20€ discount of the cleaning fee. Please ask by messaging us when booking (as there isn’t an Airbnb automated tool for it).
