We booked a Safari and city tour with the lodges expedition department. Both were excellent. The tour guides had excellent English (as do most of the staff), exciting and informative. The city tour really had lots packed in and getting to it all was a testament to our driver! Traffic in Mombasa is really an experience to Canadians. It really must be experienced from a back seat to keep us from having panic attacks every block. But there were no accidents any where we traveled!! I leave the dining experience to the end because it was a daily gastronomic delight. The food and staff both excellent, entertaining and delightful. Lecious and Eunice and Ruth, to name a few, made our daily trips through the buffet memorable. We thank everyone of the staff at the Severin Sea Lodge for a wonderful holiday experience."

Cons: The shower water pressure was close to none, very low. Parts of shower and bathroom wall was dirty. There was a curio/shops next to hotel with overly aggressive sales people. If you are not a local or from Kenya, beware of them and the prices. If you get the all inclusive, be ready to get bottom of the line drinks. Anything else you pay extra which is pretty much standard in most all inclusive hotels around the world. "

We had to order extra baskets of fries as the ate them too quickly. Another big hit was the homemade icecream milkshakes. The beach was very nice in this area. Unlike closer to the Diani airport there was not a lot of rocks or coral pieces underfoot. The sand was incredibly soft. So was very comfortable getting in and out. *There are some beach boys in this area, but they was not very pushy or annoying. I never felt bad for saying no. I think since Galu is at the end of the strip it made for a calmer experience this time. One last note, it was easy to get Glovo deliveries for anything not at the hotel. Enjoy your stay. She did not put the customer needs first but just her financial gains first. According to the actual property managers she has done this several times to several customers that’s why she was banned from entrance into the premises. My advice to Expedia please do not use her as your agent for any properties or hotels under her contact. Upon arrival, we were informed that because we hadn’t pre-booked breakfast, no meals would be available the following day—even if we wished to pay for them—due to an event taking place. The rooms were Great; lots of room and air-con, a bathroom with hot water, a big bed with mosquito net, a large balcony and everything was very clean! Including the rest of the resort, there was nothing to put a finger on The pool was Nice, and the soroundings/decorations with all the plants, made you feel like you were in the jungle. The breakfast had all you needed; fresh made omelets, local foods, coffee, bread, fruit and more (and it was also good). We also had some food from the menu during the Day, which did not disapoint either! All the staff was very friendly, aware and serviceminded. We Will definately recomend Ziwa Beach resort to everyone, and come back again the next time we are in Mombasa."

- "Reef Hotel is a fantastic place to stay—truly a super hotel in a stunning location. It’s set right on the ocean, with its own deck chairs in the resort with a small path down to the public beach, making it perfect for relaxing by the water. Our room was excellent—spacious, well-equipped, and everything worked perfectly. We had constant hot water, a working fridge and safe, excellent air conditioning, and a lovely balcony to enjoy the view. The hotel also felt very sustainable and blended beautifully into the local surroundings.
