- "Hotel Herzog Georg is a real gem hidden in rural Germany. The size of room is larger than a standard European room and we were very happy to have 2 large size doubles for my wife and 15 yr old son. Breakfast was massive European style and quality was superb. Lots of walking opportunities around town with site seeing and hiking just a short drive away. A couple notes, not much English spoken here, or in town at all. People were extremely gracious and we didnt have any issues, but just be aware. Also there are limited hours for the reception and if you think you will even be close to showing up after 7pm local time, reach out and coordinate how to get room access. We did not do this (our fault) and struggled to get ahold of the reception after hours with our US phones. Overall I would def stay here again if I was coming to the area."

There is a sauna and it’s opened till 11pm, it was refreshing after a long day of walking! If you want to have air condition in the room, make sure NOT to choose classic rooms. - "The staff was very accommodating. The first room we were in smelled so strongly of cigars and cigarettes that we asked to have a different room. The second room we got was great! Smelled much better. The beds were comfortable and when I couldn’t figure out the heating system the same staff member came to are room and showed us how the heater worked. Very obliging of her because it was very late. I would highly recommend that the hotel hire at least one more staff member for the evenings. Our family-run guest house, newly renovated in 2021, has 16 guest rooms, is located in a central, very quiet forest location at the foot of the "Wartburg" and offers a wonderful view over Eisenach from its terrace.

To Wartburg and Dragon Gorge starts a hiking trail from our house.
