These individual hotel rooms in the heart of Wirksworth offer more than just distinctive decor. Set within an 18th century coaching inn, The Red Lion is also home to the CAMRA award winning Feather Star and to Haarlem Artspace
The 3 Art rooms are styled using vintage finds, with dvd players and Roberts radios. Beds are super comfy and the en suite shower rooms have fluffy towels and eco friendly products. Dog friendly, quirky. bohemian rooms.
The space
Quirky styled art rooms with vintage finds. Environment friendly products. Range of organic fair trade teas and coffee and mini fridge with fresh milk.
Room 1 is a double with a king size bed. Sleeps 2.
Room 2 is a double with king size bed and 2 bed in a bags. Sleeps 2 + 2 children.
Room 3 is a large room with 2 double beds and space for a travel cot (supplied). Sleeps 4 + 1 infant.
PRICING SHOWN IS FOR 2 PEOPLE IN A DOUBLE ROOM.
Art rooms sleep a total of 8 + 3 children. However at busy times or weekends, it may not be suitable for young children or those wanting a quiet stay.
Please note, you will be staying in an old historic building. The windows are stone mullion with single glazing. While the hotel Art Rooms and private corridor are warm and centrally heated, some areas, such as, the staircase and entrance lobby, due to our 2* listing, are not heated.
Please be aware of this during winter months, as some areas may feel cold.
Rest assured, that the rooms are lovely and cosy though.

The Red Lion, Feather Star and the Art Rooms are styled in a quirky way. We have a taxidermy squirrel dressed as a Jedi Knight, circus memorabilia and vintage finds aplenty.
The building has a lively atmosphere and theres always something happening from live music nights, DJ's, pop up food nights and events.
We also have Haarlem Artspace gallery and event space on site with a year round programme of free contemporary art exhibitions. We also run artist residencies and retreats. Contact us for details.
We are friendly and welcoming and if you love a creative and lively space, you'll love us.
We don't have TVs (we do have dvd players in each room and a fab film collection) and we're not corporate.
We're all about enjoying the atmosphere and Wirksworth itself.

Other things to note
Please note that the hotels rooms are located on the first floor, accessed by a grand staircase. Due to the hotel grade 2 listing we do not have lift access. The Red Lion is an old historic building with its quirks and charms, the floors are wonky which adds to the ambiance. We don’t have TVs and the Wi-Fi can be temperamental. We do however have Roberts blue tooth radios and DVD players in all rooms ( and a great library of films ).
We are located directly above The Feather Star ale house and live music venue, which often has live music on offer and is a lively venue particularly at weekends.
