Tea and coffee were good and the bathrooms were clean and tidy. We chose to take breakfast and dinner in the bar. The breakfast was lovely and set us up for our journey. The dinner the night before was a touch disappointing. The veggie sausage and mash used the same cheap vegan sausage used for the breakfast, which we're not appropriate for a hearty evening meal. This is not the fault of the chef or pub team but a poor choice by the menu development chef at head office. Other than suggesting you look a little further afield for dinner, I'd recommend the G&C for a short stay in the Derbyshire Dales. The team made us feel welcome here."

There is free parking of one car per room. This is located up a steep hill to the side of the property. The hotel front door is locked at 6pm each evening. Guests are provided with their personal entry key to enable them to come and go freely during their stay.

Art rooms sleep a total of 8 + 3 children. However at busy times or weekends, it may not be suitable for young children or those wanting a quiet stay.

Please note, you will be staying in an old historic building. The windows are stone mullion with single glazing. While the hotel Art Rooms and private corridor are warm and centrally heated, some areas, such as, the staircase and entrance lobby, due to our 2* listing, are not heated.
Please be aware of this during winter months, as some areas may feel cold.
Rest assured, that the rooms are lovely and cosy though.

Please note that the hotels rooms are located on the first floor, accessed by a grand staircase. Due to the hotel grade 2 listing we do not have lift access. The Red Lion is an old historic building with its quirks and charms, the floors are wonky which adds to the ambiance. We don’t have TVs and the Wi-Fi can be temperamental. We do however have Roberts blue tooth radios and DVD players in all rooms ( and a great library of films ).
We are located directly above The Feather Star ale house and live music venue, which often has live music on offer and is a lively venue particularly at weekends.
