- "The plus side: Nice clean cottage, welcome basket with fresh bread, haribo sweets, wine. Flowers on table, tea, coffee, sugar and even treats for the dog. Sky/netflix. Bed very comfy. Nice white towels. Good communication from owner. 2 local pubs- the Nelson ...no food gd beer. Rising sun, pub grub. Both friendly pubs. negative side: Right on a very busy,noisy road. We could not work out why so many lorries etc cut through there. We did sort of get used to the noise except early mornings. Nothing owners can do about that,but if you are not used to traffic, it may affect your experience. The parking is on the busy and in places very narrow road and is 1st come 1st served. We found we had to, and was probaby best, to park up the road where wider Washing machine had sign on it saying "not working, sorry". We didnt know how long broken but no attempt to fix while we were there 7 nights. A wet week meant lots of washing. With all the lovely welcome gifts, there was zero (as in none at all) toilet paper ...fortunately we are regular boy scouts and came prepared. Maybe an oversight? But with the fact that they left a solitary dishwasher tablet in a pot....not sure was an oversight. They ask you to run the dishwasher as you leave so you will need to take some tablets with you to use during the week. No ironing board (was an iron and ironing board cover, however). No hoover, mop.....used a dustpan and brush to sweep floors each day. And no toilet brush! "

I had to go and buy some from the town centre. At night the cars whizz past really fast. The listing states that there is free parking but this isn’t true- you have to pay for it. I have asked Hotels.com to amend this as it’s false advertising. The reason we booked this hotel was for the free parking!!! Luckily we got parked ok in the train station car park but had to pay £15 per car. In the afternoon however the car park soon fills up and people drive up and down looking for a space. We’d stay here again due the location and the charm of the building. "

Cromford has plenty places to visit in the surrounding area, making it a great place to stay. Surrounded by the Derbyshire Dales/Peak District
Cromford is an historic village: industrial revolution began here. It has 2 art galleries,cafes, pubs, a few shops & a bookshop. There are 2 busy roads running through it.

The space
The cottage is my home and an old mill workers cottage (built in the 18th century) and has many original features. The original steep and narrow internal stairs - can be a challenge for anyone with mobility problems.
Outside, the garden has two terraces which are accessed by original steep stone steps. Guest are welcome to use the 1st terrace in late Spring and through the Summer too.

The spacious double room that you’ll be staying in, on the top floor, can accommodate up to 2 guests and has everything that you need to make your stay a happy one. There are cups, glasses, cutlery, kettle and toaster, wine glasses etc in the room. It also has a table and chairs to eat your breakfast at, work, write or eat a takeaway meal at.
For breakfast I’ll provide a loaf of bread, butter, jam/marmalade, tea, coffee, herbal tea. Please let me know if you don’t want the loaf/marmalade etc.
The shared bathroom - which I also use - is on the top floor too.
I’ve made the room simple, clutter free, comfortable and tidy - just the kind of room that I’d happily stay in..
Access to kitchen is only for washing up.

Guests can access the bedroom, shared bathroom, kitchen only for washing up (no meal prep or cooking), garden (bottom terrace) during late spring and through the summer.
The cottage is on one of 2 busy main roads in Cromford, you can expect an amount of traffic on Water Lane.
This should not affect your enjoyment of the cottage/private room, as secondary glazing has been fitted throughout.

During your stay
I work in the village and if I'm not at home you can find me 5 mins away at work. I'll happily provide you with any info/help you need during your stay. I'll give you as much space and privacy as you want, but I'm also happy to chat too.

Other things to note
The stairs inside the property are original: narrow, steep stairs, not suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties or children.
The cottage is surrounded by great walks and a central location in Derbyshire: with easy access to many places of interest etc: including Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Matlock Bath, Haddon Hall. I'm happy to point out some great places to visit.

The first floor has your self contained en suite bedroom with private access (your own front door). The space
You have your own en suite private room with its own entrance leading to the small lanes you can explore and walk in this quirky area, with no traffic! It includes double bed, tv, coffee making, microwave, shower. Wirksworth centre is just a short stroll where there are good pubs, food, a quirky cinema, the Star Disc, farmers' markets and the Arts Festival.

Once parked there is a short steep climb to the house. Access is via a keybox to the ground floor. Upstairs you have a private bedroom with a petite en suite shower room and your own private front door.

During your stay
Your own room is on the first floor and is private with its own access. You can share all the ground floor area, Kitchen, Dining and Lounge. As well as the keysafe you will have your own keys and can access all the house when we are out. The patio is a lovely area to relax and for al freco dining with great views.

We live in the house and have our own bedroom. You can use the Washing machine, Dryer and Kitchen that are situated on the ground floor.

Mews Cottage is a spacious cottage to stay in a charming Derbyshire village on the edge of the Peak District. Our cute cottage is a cosy space with lovely views. It sits next to our house with a shared driveway and garden which you a very welcome to enjoy. There is a smart TV. It has a combi boiler for instant continuous hot water and gas central heating
In addition there is an electric log burner in the lounge.
The kitchen has been refurbished recently and now includes a dishwasher along with electric cooker, microwave, fridge,freezer,toaster,kettle

The spacious bedroom has great views towards Lumsdale. The twin beds can be made up as either singles or pushed together and made up as a king size bed

You'll have the use of the whole cottage, front garden with seating area and there is space to park a car on the drive unless you have a very large car or van when we’d ask you to park on the road where there is plenty of parking available. Please park parallel and close to our two cars to make it easy for everyone to get in and out

Wifi - Is available. Vodaphone is good but other networks vary Our landline can always be used for emergencies or ordering takeaways when we are at home if your mobile reception is poor

We particularly recommend the Gate inn and suggest you pre book if you’d like to eat there as it can get quite busy especially Sunday lunchtimes . Tavern is good too especially pie night on a Friday we’re told by other guests

Tring-on-Tor is perfectly located on the hillside overlooking the town of Matlock and towards the hills beyond. The traditional stone cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms and has all the amenities required for a comfortable self-catering stay.

The south-facing patio at the front of the cottage has a table and chairs and is a lovely place from which to soak up the sun and enjoy the views in the warm summer months.



Walking in through the front door guests will find the living room with characterful open fire which can be lit in the cooler Autumn and Winter months along with enough seating for four people and a television. Through the door can be found the kitchen with its traditional stove cooker positioned under the fireplace and the dining table. With the traditional cottage layout, guests will find the bathroom located at the rear of the property on the ground floor which comes with a shower over bath, WC and basin.



Both bedrooms can be found upstairs with the master bedroom coming with plenty of drawer storage. Guests will absolutely love waking up here, opening the curtains of a morning and looking out at the incredible countryside views. The second bedroom is arranged as a twin.



At the rear of the property, through a door leading off the kitchen is the rear garden.



There is free, on-street parking for Tring-on-Tor. While the cottage itself is located down a narrow cul-de-sac with not much room for turning, we recommend parking on Cavendish Road near to the entrance to Rockside Steps. For those approaching the cottage by foot, it is worth considering that the hill from the town centre is approximately 600m long at an average of 14% gradient.



Tring-on-Tor is ideally positioned for guests to access the town of Matlock as well as explore the Peak District National Park. Matlock grew up around the ancient stone bridge that crosses the Derwent. Its lovely riverside setting in a steep wooded gorge, is always spectacular, whatever the weather. The town has many interesting shops to browse, with a range of independent outlets. There are also plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants, offering a wide range of refreshments from coffee and snacks to full meals. Matlock outdoor market is held on each Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. A farmers market is also held on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Many events and festivals are held in the town throughout the year, including a Victorian Christmas weekend on the first week of December.

Come and spend a relaxing time in our no frills cottage in the Peak District away from the stresses of modern life.
Ideal base for walking cycling or exploring the area. Public footpaths almost from the door and nearby Tissington, Monsal and Manifold cycling trails.
Matlock is 3 miles away with all amenities, trains and buses. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within close proximity as is the market town of Bakewell and quaint village of Winster.

Former stables for the neighbouring tollhouse, dating back to 1757. Now a delightful cottage with lovely views over the rolling countryside

Guests have full use of the cottage and garden and private off-road parking opposite. (Please note that the parking area serves 2 cottages - Park on the downhill side, end to end if there is more than one vehicle) Do not park in the private space 50 yards uphill on the same side as the cottage.
Street parking outside the cottage is permitted. EV charging is not allowed from the house. An EV charging point is 10 minutes drive away at Edgefold Road in Matlock or 15 minutes away at New Street in Bakewell.
There is a sofa bed in the living room - please ask for bedding if needed - there is an extra £20 charge to cover laundry fees.
The bathroom has a working shower over the bath, but it is not possible at this time to take a bath.

Other things to note
Three Stags Heads is a local pub 1/2 mile down the hill serving fresh cooked food. The Square and Compass 0.7 miles down the hill and over the bridge also serves food. They are both within walking distance but of course there is an uphill walk home.
There is a well stocked community shop, post office and 2 pubs in Winster, The Bowling Green and The Miners Standard both serve food -2 miles away).
A Co-op beyond Darley Bridge on the A6 and a pub opposite (Barringtons 1 1/2 miles away) and another pub in Churchtown The Church Inn 1 1/2 miles away) All the above pubs serve food.
Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both a short drive away.

Our house in North Street is a beautifully presented grade two listed terraced cottage set in a peaceful location in the historic village of Cromford.

This charming cottage has 2 bedrooms, a modern bathroom, lounge with log burner and a dining kitchen.

The space
North Street is a sympathetically restored 240 year-old terraced, former millworkers' cottage situated in the village of Cromford on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park .

The cottage combines simple Georgian style with modern comforts and is perfect for those wishing to explore the picturesque Peak District. The sitting room is tastefully furnished with an impressive stone fireplace and wood burning stove for a chilly evening.

The modern kitchen provides all the cooking essentials as well as a table for dining.

Original steep stairs lead to the first floor where there is a beautiful double bedroom with a spiral wooden staircase leading to the second floor, charming bedroom and bathroom with generous walk-in shower.

Our outside bench is at the side of the cottage where you can relax to the sound of the spring filling the stone well.
