Peckerwood Cottage is a charming two bedroom stone built cottage with garden set in the Peak District nr Bakewell and Chatsworth House. We are surrounded by walking and cycling routes including the Monsal Trail. Climbing and fly fishing activities nearby.

The property occupies a peaceful, picturesque, backwater of Ashford-in-the-Water within easy reach of local shops and bars. We often see wildlife around the property including rabbits, pheasants, sheep, horses and sometimes woodpeckers!

The space
Our cottage is surrounded by stunning Derbyshire countryside with easy access to local walks and cycle trails. The property is seconds away from the river Wye with exquisite views nearby.

The Monsal Pass cycle/walking trail is close by. Bakewell is a 5 minute drive away. Feeling more adventurous? you can go climbing at Curber Edge. Or try fly fishing at Monsal Head. You can visit the stately home of Chatsworth, or visit its luxurious farm shop to get your own provisions. Try Haddon Hall where Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice have been filmed.

If nature is not enough for you we provide modern comforts such as internet, Netflix and Amazon Prime.

There are great local pubs to try.

We have a garden for BBQ's and provided a small dining set.

The accommodation comprises sitting room with log burning stove, fitted dining kitchen, at first floor two bedrooms and bathroom. Logs are not provided!

There is a sofa bed but we do not provide any bedding or pillows for this - you must provide your own if you wish to use it.

Stanton Cottage is a stone built cottage situated at the very heart of the delightful village of Youlgrave, overlooking the historic church of All Saints. Centrally located in a beautiful part of the Peak District National Park. The cottage is full of character and includes a log burning stove for those cosy nights in! The space
A Grade 2 listed building with oodles of character and charm.Set in a quiet position close to a pretty mill stream that when followed, leads you on a short, level walk to the centre of the picturesque market town of Bakewell. With plenty of independent shops, cafes and pubs to enjoy, plus a fabulous park with children's play area, Bakewell is a quintessential Peak District town. Being in the heart of the Peak District you are not short of walks from the door, head out in any direction to enjoy this stunning location.

Rivermeade has plenty of space from the front door it leads you immediately to a cosy lounge, with comfy sofas, inviting fabrics and a central log burner this room will be ultra cosy in those cooler months. The room features a Smart TV and free Wi-Fi. The galley kitchen is at the back of the cottage and one of the bedrooms lead off from here, there are two tiled steps down to the ground floor bedroom - please note the head height of the doorway is limited (at the top of the steps is 5ft 4) and the doorway is 5ft 7, the compact fixed double room has a striking exposed stone wall and small storage cupboard. The bed is a fixed double (4ft 6) with side lights and built in shelves for books or drinks. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped, with quarry tiled floor and granite worktops providing plenty of storage space . You have all your main amenities such as a built in combi oven / microwave, separate electric oven, 4 induction plate hob, full size dishwasher, under counter fridge, under counter 3 drawer freezer, Magimix Nespresso coffee machine and plenty of cutlery, crockery, glassware and cooking utensils.

The separate characterful dining room leads from the kitchen and features a grand solid wooden table that seats 6 comfortably a sideboard for storage and perfectly placed in the property for serving up lovely meals whilst you stay. A narrow glass roofed walkway from the kitchen leads you to the handy boot room, (please note in one part the head height reduces at a beam to 5ft 10). Neatly stored away is the washer/dryer, ironing board and iron. There is a built in wooden bench seat and places to hang coats, leads etc . A stable door opens to a small courtyard that has dog wash facilities consisting off an outside tap and hose plus a Mud Daddy. The area also houses the bins and there is a wall rack which is prefect for draping wet clothes on after being out and about.

The original stairs are tucked away in the corner of the kitchen these are steep and narrow so may not suit guests that are less agile or have mobility issues, there is a handrail. Before reaching the top of the stairs you step up another step into the shared bathroom. Newly refurbished with marble effect flooring, stunning wallpaper and modern facilities. A bath dominates the room with hand held shower attachment, toilet, basin and mirror. Due to the age of the building head height is reduced near the toilet and basin - this reduces to 5ft 3 at its lowest.

Bedroom 1 can be made as a twin or double, looking out to the quiet square to the front of the cottage, the room features a large wardrobe, bedside tables and a space for a travel cot. There is a sliding door to the en suite wet room. A large room with shower, basin and toilet, again due to the age of the building the ceiling does slope the entire length and it reduces to 5ft 5 at its lowest - the shower cubicle head height is 6ft.

Bedroom 2 again looks out to the front of the cottage and has a fixed king-size double, there is space for a cot and has a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables.

The outside space is small but very pretty, immediately from the front door is a gated courtyard with seasonal planting, a bench seat and a further table and chairs. It is paved so please watch your step as some could be uneven. There is a separate smaller courtyard where the dog washing facilities can be found alongside the bins storage. Due to the small outdoor space, the cottage does not supply a BBQ.

Parking is within a controlled residential parking zone, with no designated parking spot for the cottage. You will be issued with a pass that needs to be displayed on your dashboard when you are parked outside the cottage at all times. There is one pass for the guests to use while staying at the cottage. This is an annual pass that comes with the cottage so MUST NOT be taken away or there will be a charge to replace it if lost or removed. You are also able to park across the road on Bagshaw Hill or on Castle Street using the pass. For Castle Street parking this is at the end of the mill race pathway but you have to drive through town to be able to park in this area then a short walk to the cottage. There is additional car parking (pay and display) in town or some free street parking on the edge of the town should you have more than one car.

Please do not park a second car in front of the cottage as the area is monitored by a traffic warden and you may get a parking ticket.

For reasons of both Safety and Property Insurance, under no circumstances should you use the domestic plug sockets in the property to charge an electric vehicle. Our domestic supply in the property does not have the capacity or set up to support EV charging. There are charging stations on New Street and Bakewell Bridge Car Park

Public buses run from the centre of town but around the corner there is a bus stop that goes to Manchester and Derby

Rivermeade Cottage sleeps a maximum of 6 people

Noise Policy - due to the quiet village location, late night noise must be confined to inside the building by 10pm. Neighbours are in close proximity - not suitable for rowdy groups due to the quiet residential area.

Mobile reception - as this is a lovely rural location mobile reception can be limited depending on your network.

WiFi – we provide free WiFi however as the Peak District is in a beautiful rural location sometimes there can be intermittent WiFi signal that is beyond our control, we also hope you appreciate that we cannot guarantee WiFi if there are technical issues out of our control.

Strictly NO fireworks or Chinese Lanterns due to the residential location

Rivermeade Cottage is dog friendly and we can comfortably accept 1 dog here.
