The Smithy is the old blacksmiths cottage which offers space and tranquillity within a stone's throw of the popular Derbyshire village of Ashford in the Water. It also includes a peaceful riverside location with meadow views.

From the property, guests can enjoy a short stroll to the old marble quarrying village of Ashford in the Water. Here, you'll find plenty of places to shop, eat and relax beside the babbling River Wye.

The space
Nestled in the heart of the national park, walkers will enjoy exploring the contrasting scenery of the higher and wilder Dark Pak in the north and the gently rolling limestone dales of White Peak in the south.

Inside, you will enter the character cottage through the kitchen, which is open to the lounge area. This is a warm and cosy room with a Cornish Slate floor, comfortable chairs, a leather settee, chair and occasional rugs. It features an attractive oak fireplace with a log effect electric stove. Dove Cottage is a lovely terraced cottage situated in the village of Tideswell in the Peak District National Park. The cottage can sleep two people, either together in the double bedroom or separately in the double bedroom and the second single bedroom. This cottage is full of character and includes a log burning stove for those cosy nights in! Pets are welcome – please note that this cottage does not have any outdoor space – but there are numerous short and long walks available from the door.

Spinney Farm cottage is set in an idyllic rural location on a quiet country lane overlooking the village of Bonsall. Footpaths on your doorstep lead you into the beautiful countryside. Spinney Farm is the home to a herd of alpacas which you are welcome to visit and you may also see the cows from Puddle Hill farm in the nearby fields. Spinney Farm cottage is set in a dry stone wall enclosure therefore a safe and secure place for children to play and for you to sit and relax.

If you want peace and quiet or you worry about your kids making too much noise then Spinney Farm Cottage is the place for you. Set on a country lane with no neighbours there's no need to worry about anything except having a good time.

The space
Set in the heart of the Peak District National Park, just a stone’s throw from the spa town of Buxton and the popular village of Tideswell, The Cow Shed offers the perfect place to relax and unwind and enjoy the amazing British countryside.

As the name suggests, the stone building was originally a cow shed and has been carefully converted to create a light, open-plan living space which is warm and cosy in the winter months and cool and airy in summer. Close to Bakewell and places of interest including the spectacular Chatsworth House and Eyam, the famous plague village, the Cow Shed is also within easy striking distance of the jewels of the Peak District including Castleton, renowned for its dramatic caves one of which, The Devil’s Arse, is owned by the Queen.

The Cow Shed sleeps five, plus a cot on request, and is the idea base for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and people who want to escape the hustle bustle of daily life. Just 200 yards from the Pennine Bridleway, there are scores of paths and trails to suit everyone from those who enjoy a short amble to the pub, to those who want to tackle hiking challenges such as Kinder Scout in nearby Edale.

There’s a secure garage to store your bike. The nearest shop is three miles away and the nearest pub, the Angler’s Rest is just 1.5 miles away in Miller’s Dale – it’s downhill there but uphill home!

The Cow Shed is a two storey building with 2 steps up to the ground floor from the entrance door. There are two bathrooms with showers and two double beds and one single in the open plan upstairs. It has oil-fired central heating and that and the electricity, bed linen and towels are all included in the hire of the property. It is equipped with a smart TV, electric cooker, microwave, Netflix and WiFi.

There is a lawned area with seating as well as seating outside of the front of the building to catch the last of the evening sun. Please note, the grounds are extensive but not enclosed. There’s unlimited parking and the building is strictly non-smoking.

You have complete access to the Cow Shed accommodation which is over two floors and is a completely detached building.

Other things to note
The Cow Shed is a standalone building with plenty of space around it and a garden to the rear and open space to the front. The key will be in the door on your arrival. It’s quiet area so the walks and places aren’t very busy, and everyone is happy to share the space.

You can expect a very warm welcome in Peak District. Everything is now open.

Chatsworth House is open and also has an amazing farm shop in Pilsley and there’s a fabulous garden centre which is open and sells lots of lovely things aside from plants. https://www.chatsworth.org/

There are scores of wonderful garden centres in the area. There is a great one in Darley Dale – Forest Garden Centre https://www.forestgardencentre.co.uk/ the one at Chatsworth https://www.bluediamond.gg/garden-centre/chatsworth-garden-centre , an amazing nursery at Kettleshulme (only open at the weekends) for the plantsperson only – there are no frills and it’s on a steep incline. https://david-g-ross.business.site/

Caslleton is a lovely local village and the ruined castle and pubs are well worth a visit.

There are walks a plenty. Edale is an excellent starting point and favourite walks are Mam Tor and Jacob’s Ladder. For the hardcore walker there is Kinder Scout. This should only be done in good weather with proper equipment. Maps are in the Cow Shed.

There are lots of lovely walks straight from The Cow Shed, from 20-minute strolls to all day treks.

The towns of Buxton, Bakewell, Ashbourne, Matlock and Matlock Bath are all open with lovely shops and places to eat and drink.

The village of Eyam where the black plague famously ended, is great for a walk round and a bite to eat and a hike up to Solomon’s Temple in Buxton will blow any cobwebs. The views up there are incredible.

Both the Tissington trail and Monsal trail are lovely walking and bike riding trails and you can also hire a bike if you fancy from https://www.hassopstation.co.uk/ to ride the Monsal trail. There’s also a café there doing takeaway drinks and food.

There are lots of supermarkets as you would expect and plenty of takeaways. We even have a couple who will deliver to Wormhill. All the details are in the online guestbook.

Ruby Cottage is a cosy, comfortable cottage located in a quiet but central spot in the historic village of Longnor in the Peak District National Park. The cottage has been carefully renovated to retain much of its original character with exposed stonework, stripped pine doors and a wood burning stove.

Bookings are welcome for a minimum of 3 nights, occasionally 2.

The space
Ruby Cottage has one bedroom with a double bed and sleeps two people. A cot and high chair are available on request. There is full central heating and radiators in each room, plus a basket of sticks and logs for your arrival. Towels (bathroom and kitchen), bedding and background heating are all included.

The property is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with very limited mobility as there are steps to access the property and steps to the upstairs.

The cosy lounge has a wood burning stove, leather sofa and chair and a flat screen TV with DVD player, and a selection of DVDs. WiFi reception and speed are very good. Games, books, walking guides and maps are provided, as is wood for the fire (small extra charge). The room has a dining table and four chairs.

The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge with ice box. Tea, coffee & sugar, tea towels and tablets for the dishwasher and washer/dryer are provided.

The airy bedroom has a brass double bed with king size duvet and two bedside tables with lamps. The wardrobe has plenty of coat hangers, three drawers and spare blankets.
