- "The cottage is immaculate and has everything you need, loved the magnifying mirror in the bedroom, was like home from home. I agree with other reviewers, bed is comfortable, shower is good, will defo stay again." - "This is a beautiful little house that is absolutely immaculate in every way. We often stay in self-catering houses and when making cups of coffee or using the cutlery feel that everything needs a good wash. Not in this case - everything was spotless including all elements of the kitchen, the bedroom, the bathroom and the external areas. We particularly loved the sparkling tiles in the bathroom. When away, we always look for a comfortable bed, a shower that works properly and good internet. 10 out of 10 in all areas. The little terrace was a super little sun trap and there was sufficient safe space for the dog around the house. We also found some amazing walks on the doorstep and the two of Delph had some lovely little pubs that were very welcoming. Our only minor concern, but that does absolutely not impact the rating, was the access road, which is quite steep. Our car is not suited to this and struggled. We would definitely return over the winter, but for this. However, we do intend to return in the spring when the weather is more predictable."

Region: The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
Town: Greenfield is one of seven villages nestling amongst the 18,000 acres of moorland hills, open fields and scenic valleys that comprise the Saddleworth area. These Pennine villages have a wool spinning and agricultural heritage dating back to the Industrial Revolution, but today Saddleworth has evolved into an attractive South Pennine and Peak District National Park area with breathtaking views and glorious stone-built buildings. Greenfield is a thriving little village with a good range of amenities, and well placed to explore the South Pennine region. Greenfield has Saddleworth’s largest park in Churchill Playing Fields, which includes a skateboard park and tennis courts. It also has the canal marina and Saddleworth’s train station, which is an extremely popular stopping off point on the ‘Real Ale Rail Trail’ and offers easy access into Manchester for a city visit. Live entertainment at local pubs includes folk, rock, jazz and classical guitar concerts, and the ‘Off the Rails’ comedy club.
Saddleworth is home to a wide range of festivals and community events, the most famous of which is the Whit Friday Band contest, which attracts the UK’s and Europe’s top brass bands and was the backdrop to the film ‘Brassed Off’. Another well loved film ‘Yanks’ was set in Saddleworth and is also commemorated by a major weekend festival.
Almost every weekend features a visitor attraction, be it a canal festival, vintage car rally, the Saddleworth Rushcart procession, real ale festival, morris dancing competition or the well regarded Farmer’s Market. Nearby attractions include Dovestones Reservoir for boating and walks, and the Castleshaw Valley with an interpretation trail for a Roman fort, the highest of a series built on the Roman military road from Chester to York.

Nell's Cottage at Diggle House Farm is a great location if you simply want to get away from the hustle and stress of daily life. Ideally placed to access all the local villages and events, with beautiful walks from the farm gate!
The space
In addition to our self-catering cottage, Diggle House Farm houses a working farm, Cattery and Livery Yard.
Nell's Cottage has two bedrooms (single and king-size) and sleeps a maximum of three guests. Sorry, we don’t accept dogs and we don't permit extra overnight guests above the maximum of three.
Offering breathtaking uninterrupted views over open fields and across the valley and with it's own south facing garden to sit out in, this cottage is a firm favourite!
Upstairs, Nell's Cottage has a Kingsize bedroom with spectacular views, a full size single bedroom and a good sized bathroom (with bath and Grohe shower over), vanity sink unit and heated towel rail.
Downstairs is open plan living and, with a fully equipped kitchen, dining table and chairs, leather recliner sofa and wall mounted TV/DVD, Nell's Cottage offers spacious and comfortable accommodation.
Underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs, with high levels of insulation make Nell's Cottage cosy and warm, and with a fully fitted kitchen with electric oven/hob, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine it really is a home from home!
A woodburning stove and fireplace offers a focal point, and comes with a starter basket of logs/wood.
There is a good selection of books/games/DVDs as well as local information on tourist attractions and places to eat etc.
There are toys, books and games for children.
There is no parking directly outside the cottage, vehicles must be left on the farm car park a short walk away at all times.
Guest access
Nell's Cottage is fully self contained: it has all the "mod cons" you would hope for including fully fitted kitchen and bathroom. In addition it has it's own South facing garden with patio area and table and chairs. The garden is a real sun trap and offers a great place to relax and take in breathtaking views and oodles and oodles of fresh country air! Parking is on a dedicated car park (not directly outside the cottage, but only a short walk away).
Other things to note
Diggle House Farm is a working farm! It is located approximately one mile from the centre of the nearest village. The road to the farm is tarmac and well maintained. Some of our foreign visitors, that are used to large freeways, consider the lanes to be narrow, but we do not have any problems getting deliveries or driving tractors and trailers to the farm.
We have animals including horses, cattle, sheep and poultry. In addition there is plenty of wildlife: pheasants, birds, rabbits, hares, owls and foxes. We have even seen deer!
In line with Airbnb policy, and to ensure no detriment to family members who live at the farm, parties and social gatherings are not permitted. Due to the proximity of vast moorland, BBQs are not permitted on the farm.

Pots & Pans Cottage is a charming dog-friendly 18th-century weavers cottage located in a small hamlet 10 minutes walk from the centre of Uppermill village in Saddleworth, and 35 minutes away from Manchester.
The location of the cottage is quiet and peaceful, so it is not a suitable place to hold a party. It is, however, a fabulous spot for a relaxing retreat into the countryside, with the open Peak District right on the doorstep.
The space
The cottage is full of character and modernised to a high standard. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms (one with bath, one ensuite), a cosy lounge, and a well-equipped kitchen and dining area. The cottage can comfortably accommodate four adults. The decked garden and gazebo for outdoor dining are perfect for enjoying the tranquillity of Saddleworth.
Pots & Pans Cottage is part of one of the oldest hamlets in Saddleworth, within Uppermill village, well known for its cafes, restaurants, bars, and shops. There is a designated parking spot available for one car close to the cottage, less than a one-minute walk away. The road between the parking place and the cottage is unadopted and not sealed; it is thus uneven, and in places there are potholes. Due to the quirky nature of the cottage (typical Saddleworth), the house is tucked away, and although there is a garden, there is no space to park a car directly outside; this also means that there is no passing traffic or people wandering past. The cottage is perfectly silent, wonderfully peaceful and very private. Several free street-parking opportunities are available close by for parking a second car if needed.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire property.
Due to the nature of the environment around the cottage and the layout of the cottage disabled access is not available. THE COTTAGE: Dove Cottage itself is a beautiful semi-detached converted farm building and has a modern fresh feel throughout with light tones of grey setting off the original dark timber beams.
ACCESS: We are located within the small village of Denshaw, in the rural parish of Saddleworth at the foothills of the Pennines, on the edge of the Peak District National Park. The private hamlet is accessed via a rural lane from the main road past farm fields.
PARKING: Dove Cottage itself has a set of timber farm gates at its entrance with own driveway and private parking for a maximum of 4 cars.
THE GROUNDS OF DOVE COTTAGE INCLUDE:
PRIVATE GARDEN: The outside of Dove Cottage consists of a private south facing patio with luxury dining set with integrated central gas fire, free standing BBQ, and a private lawn and decking area for relaxing.
‘KIDS PLAY’ LAWN AND FARM ANIMALS: Through a set of gates is a larger lawn with football nets and basketball net for kids to play. You will quite often find our chickens roaming free on the lawn, and our other farm animals are just in the next field so stop by at their gate and feed them a handful of pellets. They are quite tame but very greedy! We also have two lovely farm cats.
THE SMALL LAKE & WOODLAND AREA WITH HOT TUB & FIRE PIT: From the cottages you will see the tranquil pond with mature beech trees to its banks nearby (approx 50 metres away). Located beneath its branches rests the natural fresh water wood fired 6/7 person Kirami hot tub and cooking fire pit area. Put on your swim wear, grab your towel and head on down for some relaxing bathing time under the festoon lighting creating a truly magical atmosphere and experience. Enjoy time in the tub on dewy mornings, lazy afternoons, or under starry skies in the evening. Luxury towelling robes are provided for your stay. The 'Plain Jane' fire pit with swing arm grill is perfect for a woodland breakfast in the misty morning or an evening of toasted marshmallows.
* HOT TUB & FIRE PIT: The wood fired hot tub can be used each day from 8.00am - 9.00pm. The outdoor fire pit is available for use when weather conditions are calm to light breeze only. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult when in the woodland area and when using the hot tub and fire pit. * The Kirami wood fired hot tub is family sized and all the water is fresh so it takes three nets of logs (heating time approx. 3-4 hrs) to heat up. Once the tub has been brought to temperature, an electric thermostat maintains the heat sufficiently over the duration of your stay. I will always ask you the day before your stay if you would like us to pre-heat the hot tub so it is ready for your arrival.
