People have mentioned the stairs up to the apartment. They caused us no problem but if people have mobility problems I can understand they might be a problem. Enter into the main living and dining area where you'll find a sumptuous sofa set in front of a wood burning stove, above which sits the wall mounted SMART TV. The room is lit by the most interesting light fittings, which co-ordinate perfectly with the oak stair and bannister rails.

Next door, the downstairs shower room with a spacious cubicle, vanity basin, and WC is fully tiled. There's a handy door to the outside from here too and useful space for coats and boots.

Take the stairs to the first floor and the spacious, vaulted bedroom with exposed original beams and bespoke oak furnishings. The king-size bed has a superb mattress and is dressed in crisp, quality linens to ensure a good night's rest.

Outside, there's a cobbled, raised patio area with seating, ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. This area leads to an informal garden space that blends seamlessly with the natural landscape.

You're welcome to bring your dog to Windy Hall Cottage, but do be aware that much of the land isn't fully enclosed and there are sheep in the adjacent fields.

The house is located on a hill and therefore has an amazing view of the lake. However, guests with significant physical mobility difficulties might need to consider this. Bear in mind though that the lakes is a generally hilly place so hills and uneven surfaces should be expected.

The space
Laid out over three floors, there's a useful modern shower room on the ground floor and on the first floor you'll find the two bedrooms, a king size and a twin (this room can also be made up as super-king upon request). The fantastic kitchen-diner and living room are on the second floor, really making the most of the stunning views towards to the fells and Lake Windermere. The balcony up here is the perfect place to sit and admire your beautiful backdrop. As well as all this, there's a charming patio garden that's ideal for dining alfresco, two private parking spaces and an integral garage for storing bikes, all a real bonus so close to the centre of Bowness.



There's something for everyone in bustling Bowness. There is a great selection of shops, cafes and a multiscreen cinema. Visit the Windermere Jetty Museum to learn all about the history of boats and steam in the area. Head up Brant Fell or enjoy a lakeside stroll along the shores of Windermere. Why not catch the ferry across the water to Hawkshead, another charming Lakeland village, where you can visit the former home of Beatrix Potter at Hilltop, before stocking up on the village's delicious relish?



Spend a day exploring the magnificent Langdale Valley. With its rugged mountains and picturesque tarns, it's a must for any avid fell walker. Head up Lingmoor Fell for stunning, panoramic views of The Lakes or enjoy a peaceful picnic beside beautiful Blea Tarn. Stop off at one of the traditional pubs on your way back for a hearty meal and refreshing drink. Head north to Keswick, the adventure capital of The Lakes. Sign up for an activity with one of the local adventure companies; try canoeing, ghyll scrambling and raft building, or the brave can tackle the Via Ferrata at Honister Slate Mine.



Head inside and on the ground floor is a fantastic shower room. With a WC, sink and modern shower enclosure, it's perfect for reinvigorating tired muscles after a day on the fells. This room also doubles as a useful utility area housing the washing machine and tumble dryer should you need to make use of these during your stay.



On the first floor you'll find the two bedrooms and a second bathroom. The lovely master bedroom is beautifully presented in neutral, calming colours. Furnished with a king-size bed, there's also a handy wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage. The bright super-king room is lovely and has a delightful dressing table tucked in one corner. This bedroom can also be made up as a twin upon request. Also on the first floor is the family bathroom, complete with WC, washbasin and bath with shower over.



Onwards and upwards to the second floor and the fantastic living accommodation. The modern dining kitchen is well equipped with everything you'd need for a self-catering holiday. There's an electric oven and hob, handy microwave, fridge-freezer and a dishwasher. The views over the Fairfield fells are outstanding. The round dining table is perfect for sociable mealtimes and there are wonderful views to the fells too. The spacious living room up here is light, bright and airy thanks to its wall of windows. Relax on one of the two sofas, there's a TV with Freeview for entertainment or simply sit back and take in those stunning views. Sliding doors lead out to the south-facing balcony, a real treat. With outdoor seating, it's a wonderful place to sit and admire the views over the rooftops to the fells and Lake Windermere. Early risers will love sitting out here with their morning cuppa listening to the birds, but it's equally suited as a delightful place to enjoy an evening aperitif.



As well as the balcony off the living area, this property also has a delightful enclosed rear patio garden. With a table and chairs, it's a lovely spot for dining alfresco or enjoying a glass of wine.



To the front of the cottage there are two private parking spaces, a rare bonus so close to the centre of Bowness. There's also a useful integral garage with a hanging clothes airer for drying outdoor gear. The garage can also be used for bike storage - ideal if you fancy leaving the car where it is and getting out and about on two wheels instead.

We have a decibel noise monitor on the ground floor of the house that assesses sound levels and their duration but does not record audio. In all of the time we have been hosting we have never had an alert to indicate that the noise level has been too high.
There is also a CCTV camera above the front porch and one above the shed for security purposes only.

For shopping, dining and evenings out you have the choice of Bowness or Winderemere. You'll find a wealth of fantastic Lakeland pubs (where yacht owners and boat-enthusiasts recap their days!) a range of excellent restaurants and several lively bars. The Royalty Cinema provides for those quieter evenings, and the Old Laundry Theatre is well worth a check.

Head over Cartmel Fell from the eastern shores of Lake Windermere and you'll find more wonderful countryside. Walk up Gummers How for spectacular views of Lake Windermere, then descend into the serene Lyth Valley for a fabulous pub meal at one of the area's renowned Lakeland gastropubs such as the Brown Horse at Winster. This is a superb Lake District self-catering location, with the opportunity for peace and quiet, vibrant village life and exhilarating walking.

As well as all of the above almost on the doorstep and within walking distance there are some fantastic places to eat a short car drive away:
The renowned Mason’s Arms offers fine food and ales. Drive south on A592 towards Newby Bridge taking the sharp left to Bowland Bridge after about 2 miles. Follow this road till you come to the pub. The Mortal Man in Troutbeck is also worth a visit.
A more upmarket Inn is the Drunken Duck which offers lovely evening meals and their own range of ales (near Tarn Howes before Hawkshead).
Other recommended watering holes include The Three Shires Inn at the foot of Wrynose Pass, The Kirkstone Pass Inn, The Black Bull and The Sun Inn at Coniston, The Bridge Hotel at Buttermere, The Britannia Inn at Elterwater, The White Horse at Scales, near Threlkold (by Blencathra – a very challenging walk) and The Pheasant Inn at Bassenthwaite are definitely worth investigating.

The Punch Bowl Inn at Crosthwaite in the Lyth Valley is worth a visit.

Within ten minutes drive you can find Windermere golf club and the fabulous arts and crafts house, Blackwell. Alternatively leave the car and take a walk up Moor How, the perfect short walk to watch the sunset over Langdale Pikes.

PLACES TO VISIT
The short invigorating walk to Gummer’s Howe is highly recommended offering magnificent views over Lake Windermere (20 – 30 mins to summit). Drive towards Newby Bridge but turn left at sign to Bowland Bridge, parking in car park on right.

Fell Foot Park (National Trust) is on left side of A592 before Newby Bridge and is good for children and paddling in the lake is possible.

Grizedale Woods on the far side of Windermere towards Hawkshead offer a good day out as does Brockhole Park (National Trust) between Windermere and Ambleside. The ferry service calls here too.

Honeypot Cottage is a traditional beautiful lakes property with modern luxury.
The property has steep steps to both front and rear entrances which is unsuitable for anyone with walking difficulties and both these entrances can get slippery in wet and icy conditions.

The space
Honeypot Cottage is extremely central, at the bottom of Brantfell Road and at the foot of the famous Dales Way Walk. A one minute walk to Lake Windermere and the famous white swans, where you can take the Lake Windermere cruises. It has all the attractions of the lakeside resort readily available.
The beautiful renovated accommodation is complete luxury. It makes best use of the available space and light to ensure a large, bright living area giving direct access onto a decked patio area, cleverly created onto the rock face and a great focal and talking point.

The two double bedrooms and one king size bedroom are arranged over three floors. The luxurious beds with Egyptian cotton linen and sumptuous bed toppers are what we are famous for in our reviews, making Honeypot Cottage ideal for everyone who want's to experience a wonderful weekend of luxury. The main bathroom on the ground floor has WC, sink and walk in shower and there is an additional WC and sink situated on top floor.

Younger couples holidaying together can take advantage of the excellent selection of bars, restaurants and night clubs that Bowness offers, all within easy walking distance of the property. Equally, guests of all ages can take advantage of Honeypot Cottage being so very accessible to all areas of the Lakes and amusements. We have music, dvd's, board games and a coffee machine, all to make your stay wonderful. It really is that hidden beautiful gem in the lakes and we have two parking spaces which is a rarity in Bowness. Honeypot is how you imagine your stunning home from home in the heart of the lakes district. We provide each guest with a luxurious welcome hamper and a baby cot and high chair are provided at the cottage. There is a supermarket one minute walk away and The World of Beatrix Potter is just 3 minutes walk away. Once you have parked up you will be within walking distance to all the local famous amenities and visitor centres.

The cottage is a luxury haven in the centre of the beautiful town of Bowness. A few yards away is the Windermere Steamers being on hand to transport you to many other beautiful, nearby resorts, and of course the famous lake swans.

Guest access
As you drive up Brantfell Road, the drive to the car park is the first turning on the left in front of the cottages. It is quite narrow and then you will turn up a steep ramp to the car park. Honeypot Cottage car parking spaces are clearly marked at the top end.
You can enter Honeypot from the ground floor front door, which is off Brantfell Road, down some quite steep steps (slippy when wet). We STRONGLTY recommend you use the front entrance as we cannot be held responsible for your care and wellbeing.

At the front entrance there will be a key safe on the wall by the front door if you enter from the car park entrance there is a key safe at the bottom of the steps on the banister. The code for your stay will be given to you prior to your stay and the keys will be in there for you. Please could you return them into the key safe on your departure.

Harmol Cottage offers guests both a comfortable yet spacious traditional Lakeland cottage in the heart of this popular Lakeland village and is located at the end of in a quiet terraced row providing easy access to a variety of shops, cafes and pubs. Harmol Cottage is a pet friendly. You will be spoiled for choice on the selection of restaurants and tourist attractions available locally and with the added advantage of also being only a few minutes stroll away from Lake Windermere itself.

The space
The cottage has a delightful, cosy lounge with lakeland slate open fire for those cosy evenings in along with ample supply of DVD's and Board Games. The dining room is spacious and perfect for a family meal or a board game. There is also a writing desk which can be used as a dedicated workspace. A bright kitchen is well supplied with all modern appliances to afford you the perfect self catering holiday.

Upstairs to a large front bedroom with kingsize bed, perfect for those lazy weekend lie-ins. The twin room is located next to the house bathroom and is a comfortable and bright room. The house bathroom provides guests with both a bath to soak in after a day on the fells and a shower over the bath. Across a split step landing to the main bedroom with Kingsize bed and seating area.

Outside to a private, enclosed yard and outhouse at the rear, which can be utilised to store bicycles securely. This cottage welcomes pets.

One parking permit available which allows guests to park in the marked areas on the road outside the cottage and two neighbouring streets. Additional non permit parking is available nearby.
