This is a charming little home in a quiet cul de sac with great access to tourist hot spots. It is a 5 minute walk to the prom and quality specialist shops, and boasts the Hazlemere Cafe and Bakery, a pleasant duck pond and park. Cartmel and its famous races (as well as sticky toffee pud!) is nearby, plus golf courses and easy access to the Lake District. It's an energetic 15 - 20 minute walk up a steep hill to the cottage, but there are lovely views of the bay whilst you stop for a breather!

The space
The bedroom is at the top of the stairs and is comfortable, simple and cool. There's an open view and the shared bathroom is adjacent.
You can use the kitchen for tea and coffee making, preparing packed lunches, snacks and microwaved light meals. Breakfast is a generous continental.
There is a delightful garden with terrace that looks out towards Morecambe Bay.
The living room has an open fire, sofa and dining area, for shared use.
This is a lovely cottage with loads of character but please do be aware that it is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues as it's got steps in and out and up and down generally.

Guest access
You can unload stuff on the terrace, but it is narrow and easily blocks access to Beech Road so if possible, just walk up for one minute from Grange Fell Road. There's no parking on the terrace as it's limited to residents use only, but there is also off-road parking at the end of the terrace.

During your stay
I'll be around most days to help you plan and make the most of your stay.

Other things to note
Grange over Sands Railway Station is 15 minutes walk, and there are buses that come to the end of the road. The walk from the station includes walking uphill, which can be a challenge, although you can stop as often as you like to take in the beautiful views across the bay. It's a really useful location for visiting nearby historic Cartmel and the wider Lake District, with Coniston Water and Lake Windermere within half an hour's drive.
It's a great alternative to staying in The Grange Hotel or The Netherwood, if you are attending a wedding or similar occasion - cheaper and more personalised!
"Must do's" are a walk along the Prom, taking in the stunning views over Morecambe Bay and a moderate hike up to Hampsfell Hospice, for it's quirky little pilgrims rest and the opportunity to climb to the top of it and have a 360 degree view of the southern lake district and beyond.

There is a lovely patio garden at the front of the property with table and chairs bordered by green shrubs and plants. There is private off road parking on the driveway at the front of the property. At the rear is a shared ally with potted plants and storage for bikes, should you wish to bring them along for a cycling trip. The village has plenty of local amenities including a well stocked shop, an artisan bakery, fish and chip shop with chinese food takeaway and a family friendly pub. Once a popular spot for travellers crossing the sands from Lancaster. Ramblers can enjoy walks along the Cumbrian Coastal Way and Coniston's mountain range. Close by is the enchanting village of Cartmel and you also have the towns of Ulveston, Windermere and Ambleside easily reached by car, with plenty to entertain the whole family. Take a boat trip on lake Windermere and take the kids to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness.

DOG OWNERS
Whilst up to two well behaved dogs are very welcome, please note that there is no enclosed outdoor space for your dogs to roam freely. There are MANY lovely dog walks in the area where you can allow your dog off the lead. Dogs must never be left unattended in the cottage ( this includes in crates) and dogs must kept off beds and furniture

We welcome up to 2 small dogs which must be kept off furniture, beds and bedding at all times. Dogs must NEVER be left unattended in the cottage and noise kept to a minimum. A dog sitting service is available (subject to availability) which can be booked in advance £15 per dog per night.

The space
Set amongst a rock face, this cosy welcoming semi-detached holiday cottage sleeps four guests in two bedrooms but can accommodate an extra two guests on a sofa bed in the sitting room.

Please note that our cleaner does not work on the weekend so we can only offer change over days during the week. We try and be accommodating with bookings but we please ask that you do not book to leave on a Bank Holiday or on a weekend date just before a Bank Holiday as you effectively block the whole weekend and bank holiday as we cannot get it cleaned. Thanks for understanding about this.

The space
The interior of the cottage is a tastefully decorated home from home. With a fully equipped modern kitchen diner and bathroom ,newly furbished. The cosy living room boasts a wood burner , with initial supply of logs in the winter, as well as being equipped with a smart tv.
A dog bed, bowls and treats are provided for your pet.
The two comfortable double bedrooms make it an ideal holiday home for both families and couples. Bedroom 1 is a double bed. Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds.

The cottage benefits from a decked area to the front with sofa ,chairs & coffee table & separate table and chairs for eating,that overlooks the picturesque River Eea.
Please be aware the yard to the rear of the cottage gives shared access to other cottages so when you bring your pet, on holiday with you, there isn’t a contained outdoor area to leave it unattended.

A quiet haven in the popular South Lakes. Set in a small cul-de-sac, at the back of Grade II listed Cark House, is this stunning fully refurbished cottage.
Cartmel 2 miles; Bowness on Windermere 16 miles. Cark is well served by the Furness line railway, and features pretty streamside strolls, lovely walks to the local coastline overlooking Morecambe Bay, two fine traditional old pubs and a scattering of small shops. This 18th Century Weavers Cottage is on the banks of the River Eea in the quaint and pretty village of Cark-in-Cartmel. Lavender Cottage is just 25 minutes from Lake Windermere and Coniston Water, only 2 miles from the priory village of Cartmel, Cartmel Race Course and Michelin starred L'Enclume and Heft. With a kingsize bed, dressing room, and large shower room with walk in shower, a comfortable lounge and kitchen diner, everything is here for a perfectly relaxing home from home holiday.

The space
This cosy former weaver's cottage is light and airy, and the sitting room has a charming window seat to enjoy the lovely view across the river to the fields beyond.

The modern fitted kitchen has a dining area, including a fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The adjoining sun room, which provides access to the self contained patio, offers a lovely relaxing place for an evening glass of wine when the weather is not so good, and is just as beautifully cosy in Winter with a radiator to keep you warm!

Upstairs, the romantic light double bedroom has lovely views to the River Eea, with a comfortable king size bed, and leads through to the Dressing Room. Here there is a wardrobe, dressing table and room for all your extras! The modern fitted shower-room has a good sized walk in shower with electric shower.

Running along the front of this pretty Cumbrian cottage is the River Eea which provides a peaceful and tranquil place so you an sit to enjoy the local wildlife and the relaxing tinkling of the water.

Outside through the kitchen and into the Sun Room, you can access a peaceful enclosed patio with an outside dining table and chairs, and is a great place to sit and relax and enjoy a bit of sunshine. Here you will also find a traditional outbuilding with space for any sports equipment, bikes, and where you will also find a tumble dryer and freezer.

There are so many wonderful walks and bike rides available right from the front door, with Cartmel just a short walk away. You can easily get to the coast, and perhaps you may find some of the local potted shrimp to enjoy in one of the many local shops found in Grange-over-Sands.

Nearby Cartmel offers quaint cobbled streets littered with antique shops, charming gift shops, welcoming traditional pubs serving real ale. It is also known for Simon Rogans' 5 AA Rosettes, two Michelin Star L'Enclume, and one Michelin Star Rogan & Co have made it a destination for keen foodies. At the centre of Cartmel Village is the Medieval Cartmel Priory, and with antique shops and boutique shops, not forgetting Cartmel Cheese Shop and Unsworth Yard Brewery, there really is something for everyone.

The quiet seaside retreat of Grange-over-Sands, with its Edwardian buildings, mountain backdrop, fabulous sea views, promenade and two golf courses is four miles away. Windermere, with its panoramic views over England's longest lake, is within a fifteen minute drive.

The Lakeland villages of Coniston, Hawkshead and Grasmere are all within 45 minutes' drive and the tip of Lake Windermere is just 8 miles away and is home to Fell Foot Park where you can hire rowing boats to explore this beautiful area.

Some of the local attractions include Eggerslack Wood (4 miles), Hampsfell (3 miles), Holker Hall and Gardens (3 miles) and Sizergh Castle (12 miles). The space
Fernleigh is in the town of Grange-Over-Sands, somewhere which has been a place to escape to throughout its history. Grange has plenty of amenities to make your stay comfortable. There are three small grocery stores within 5 minutes of the cottage as well as 2 local pubs, an award winning butchers (great pork pies!) and plenty of independent shops to browse in.

Grange is perfectly positioned for easy access to the many attractions the North West has to offer. If you head north, you'll find Lake Windermere only a ten minute drive away with Bowness-on-Windermere another 15 minutes up the road. The Grizedale Forest Visitors Centre is only 45 minutes away, where activities range from gentle walks with coffee and cake pit stops, to high wire Go-Ape action and exhilarating mountain bike trails!

Head east, and within 40 minutes you could also find yourself exploring the Yorkshire Dales by walking the stunning Ingleton Waterfalls trail. You can also easily reach Arnside and Silverdale, and the Forest of Bowland, both Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

However, if you'd prefer to stay a little closer to home there is plenty to do without leaving Grange itself. Why not enjoy a gentle stroll along the Promenade whilst taking in the views across Morecambe Bay or entertain the kids at the Recreation Area with some crazy golf or tennis. Park Road Gardens is the perfect place to read a book and feed the ducks. Then, on your way home, why not pick some apples from the community orchard to make a crumble for later!
