My little cottage is 200 years old and would have once been the gardeners cottage, although sadly no garden but there is a south facing sunny terrace in the front to sit out. It is therefore full of character but quite SMALL with low doors and oak beamed ceilings. It is one of the original '2 up, 2 downs' from around 1800 and in recent years was modernised and a small toilet/shower room added. It has been decorated and furnished in keeping with the period complete with some antique furniture so not really suitable for small children. You do actually sense the history in the ambiance. The kitchen is just big enough for 4 to eat round the table and the living room cosy,. but please note, we do not have big loungy sofas - we have period seating that may not be compliant with 21st century expectations. Please be aware of this if you are thinking of booking. Situated in a no-thru road, literally just off the main centre and market square of Bingham, it is quiet but with easy access to Nottingham. Fine for 4 people (max )if not to tall!
YOUNG CHILDREN: Children of a responsible age (over around 5 years) are welcome . The antique style of furnishing means low items like fire tongues, small pictures, decorative lights etc. could easily be damaged and at the same time be dangerous to a small child. We do not have room for cot facilities, high chairs or any other baby bits and pieces.
MEDIUM TERM LETS: We take bookings of no more than 28 days..
FIBRE WIFI Super Fast : Available in the cottage!! , however Computers with internet/printers can also be found free of charge just 5 minutes away in the local library on an hourly basis.
- "Our only regret was not being able to stay longer - the circumstance of our stay being a brief family get together over Christmas. The cottage is cosy. The kitchen is beautifully equipped and (thankfully) has a brilliant gas hob and cooker. Located just a stone's throw from the town centre, yet with on street parking just outside, it is an ideal place to stay. There are plenty of cosy pubs and several really good restaurants/take-aways. Our host was really welcoming and the details of access very clear. We look forward to coming again."

Fabulous, unusual property full of character in the heart of the historic Minster town of Southwell in Nottinghamshire, The Stables dates from the 1800's and is packed full of original and quirky features. - "This may well be the best holiday rental we have ever had. The property was spacious and well equipped and perfectly clean. It was in a perfect position and the owner could not have been more helpful. The only pity is that we were staying only two nights. Would like to go back for a longer stay sometime." - "From start to finish everything was spot on. Communication was always on point with the property owner and made sure we was ok. Everything we were informed of having available, was available, and more. Area was very good with a variety of village shops available. The handbook on arrival helped us with any queries we had. Generally a comfortable place to stay in and was a good way to wind down. Thank you"

- "If you like comfy, cozy and convenient then don’t miss out on staying at the Cozy Cottage. It’s like staying in a modern version of your grandmother’s cottage. It’s charming and the owner Katie is a lovely person. We were surprised by the breakfast goodies and cookies waiting for us. It’s an easy walk into town and over to Sherwood Forest." - "It is a tiny, but wonderful, cottage. It is so homely and ‘liveable’ and the owner, Katie, has obviously tried to provide everything you might need to enjoy a comfortable stay. Even the beds are comfy! It is beautifully clean and well presented; my adult daughter said she would like to live there herself. The main street with a Co-op store, a good selection of eateries and a friendly pub is just a short walk from the door, with the Sherwood Forest craft and visitor centres just a couple of minutes beyond the pub. The whole property
Located in a small village with beautiful countryside views, this spacious, 150 year old character cottage is self-contained with a garden to the front and a courtyard to the rear. It has two bedrooms, a newly refurbished bathroom, beamed living room and spacious kitchen diner.
The cottage is 7 miles north of Melton Mowbray on the Notts / Leics border. Originally converted from a barn in the 1850s, it has been recently refurbished to a high standard but still retains many original features.
The space
This spacious stone and brick built two storey semi detached cottage was for many years a barn for the neighbouring farm before being converted to a cottage around 1850. The attached house is our family home further up the slope. The cottage has its own private garden to the front and private courtyard to the rear both with entrances from the road side parking available directly outside the property.
The large beamed kitchen dinner has windows facing both the front garden and rear courtyard garden. It is fully equipped with integrated fridge, 3 draw freezer, electric oven, electric hob, dishwasher, micro wave, toaster and kettle. The kitchen is fully equipped with crockery, saucepans, steamer, baking equipment to make your stay a home from home.
The beamed lounge is again full of original character. It has two built in cupboards along side a beamed hearth on which sits an electric log burner effect fire. A smart 43 inch TV means you are able to sign into your Netflix or Amazon Prime account. There are also a selection of family games stored in the pouffe.
There is a sliding door off the hall way which leads to a downstairs toilet, sink and washing machine with a drying rail . A few complimentary laundry tablets are also supplied.
The back door leads to enclosed west facing court yard with a patio seating area for four people and table (Cushions for this area are stored in the built in cupboards in the lounge if you wish to use them)
The front cottage garden comprises of a small lawn area, the beds are planted with seasonal bedding for all year colour and to attract the wildlife.
Leading off the hallway a steep but wide set of stairs leads you to the landing. As the cottage is 150years old the doors are a little smaller than perhaps you're used to.
The main bedroom is light spacious and airy. Two small bedside tables with lamps sit either side of the double bed. There is plenty of storage space too, with a chest of draws and wardrobe containing hangers, iron board, iron and portable electric fan.
Due to size of this room we have furnished it with a two seater sofa, which is ideally positioned to take in the views of the front garden.
The second bedroom offers two single beds with a set of draws and reading lamp.
The old panelled door off the landing opens to an area of additional storage for bedroom 2 with a clothes rail and shelves unit.
The family bathroom is located off second bedroom and has recently been refurbished but still has the character given by the sloping ceiling and a low window. There is an shower above the bath, plenty of storage space and extra towels available should you need them. The bathroom heater is dual fuel and runs off the main heating supply or can be turned on separately. Complimentary shampoo, conditioner and shower gels are available.
