About this space
There is something wild about this place. This is where Zane Gray may have written one of his books in the unique southwest. Vincent Van Gough may have chosen to paint the starry night & the cliffs in 7 different shades here if he had lived in America. Sunrises & sunsets from this private balcony, your living room, bedroom, bathroom will take your breath away! We want to share it with those who love art & writing.

The space
It is full of indigenous arts & collections (baskets, Navajo rugs. potteries, paintings, books, wood carvings, wall hangings, beaded necklaces, Etc.) from Native America, the pacific islands, and around the world. It is a bit of an art gallery! Don't worry- it is okay to pick up and touch.

Guest access
It feels like it is in the middle of nowhere, and yet it is only a few short blocks to Downtown, Camp Verde, where you can visit the restaurants, coffee shops, antique stores, and museum Our Cliff View Home is near the Verde River and Clear Creek, which runs right through this green valley.

Montezuma Castle is only five miles away. There are hiking and mountain bike trails nearby. The red rocks of Sedona are only 27 miles away. There are ancient cliff cave dwellings just down the road less than 10 minutes from here.

You will pass an old unkempt house and an overgrown field before you get to our Cliff View Casita, but this is holistic - life is not perfect! I can not apologize for someone else's messy place or their fields. But, once you turn into our street, a stunning view will open before you!

Kids stay free. However, it may be best to book downstairs if you're concerned about many artifacts being handled by your kids or the high balcony.

Other things to note
Our home is close to Camp Verde downtown and Fort Verde State Park & the historic Hance house. You can easily walk around the town and visit this old cowboy town that dates back to 1870. Plus, we have the Yavapai Apache tribal headquarters and Cliff Castle Casino 3 miles away which periodically has cultural events.

Since Camp Verde sits right in the center of Arizona like a donut hole- you can drive to Sedona, Prescott, Jerome, Strawberry and Pine in about 30-45 minutes and the mountain town of Flagstaff or Payson in about an hour. The magnificent Grand Canyon is only about 2 hours north of us. The uniquely beautiful public library, farms and orchards are just down the hill where you can buy fresh corn, watermelons and other vegetables and fruit. This “Cliff View Casita” is the kind of place where Zane Gray would have written one of his books in the unique Southwest. We have glorious cliff views with sunsets and sunrises, which will take your breath away. There is something "wild" about this place - such beauty and serenity here!

The space
This Casita has such an amazing view (I hope you think so too), overlooking mesquite trees and cliffs that stand over the Verde River valley. The views are visible from the bedroom window and through the French doors of your own living room and there's private outdoor seating on the veranda patio area, where you can enjoy cold drinks in summer or hot tea or hot chocolate in winter. Welcome nature lovers, perhaps you'll get a visit from the javelinas, a bunny rabbit, or a roadrunner!

This unit is all downstairs; we, as hosts, live upstairs. This Casita has a bedroom with a king size bed, a private bathroom, living room, a kitchenette (not a full kitchen- has a small refriger/ freezer, a rice maker, a coffee maker, microwave oven, convection oven, electric water heater, plates, bowls, utensils Etc. & Barbeque grill out on the patio. There's no sink to wash dishes except in the bathroom (dish rack and soap under sink). We are sorry that there's no sink for the dishes, but we know some guests really appreciate at least having the option to prepare simple meals with some basic cooking items. We have many who cook almost all the meals here or barbeque every night. If you don't want to wash dishes, you'd need to bring your own disposable plates & cups just like at a motel.

You may hear some noise from upstairs once in a while as we need to live and breathe. We really try to keep our noise down as much as possible. Most of our guests say it is very quiet here. But, if you think not, let's work together to make this a win-win situation! We don't mind if you call or text me, and I will also let you know if you may have music too loud or something. It is unrealistic to think that you will hear no sound at all.

Our central heating/ cooling is difficult because everyone is different, but most people have said the temperature was just right. when it is too warm down there, then it gets too hot upstairs. Yikes- it is not easy to try to please everyone.

- "This property is nicely tucked out of the way. It is cozy and well-decorated. It is a shame I didn't have more time just to hang out at the place. I will consider it my first choice when booking my next trip back to the Verde Valley." - "This is a cozy little place with a serene yet energetic view of the nearby cliffs. It is tucked away so it feels secluded. While it is not "updated", it is decorated well and has many amenities. The bed is super comfortable! It has a little "kitchen" area which is ok for reheating food or making simple dishes. As it says in the listing, there is no stove nor kitchen sink. Probably the most challenging part of the stay is washing dishes in the bathroom sink, but it is doable. The upstairs unit is also a rental (Millie and Tom live next door) and you do hear noise from the renters, so if you are looking for complete silence, this might not work for you. It didn't bother me. The price point is really unbeatable, especially on VRBO which doesn't have as high fees as it's competitors. Millie is very sweet and I wish that I had had more time to chat with her about her life. I would stay here again."

- "Well appointed. Everything you need to be comfortable. Relaxing. Clean. Cozy. Wonderful place. Good location." - "Stayed here for a Sedona hiking trip with friends. This place is about a half hour away so the drive into town every day was not bad at all. Check in was smooth and no issues. Place was very clean and generally quiet, though the walls are very thin and you can hear your party talking from any room. Fenced yard is nice and there was tons of space inside as well. Also really loved the soaking tub. That was a nice touch and very relaxing after hiking all day. Would definitely stay here again for another trip out."
