- "What a beautiful place! The interior is spotless clean and modern with great amenities. The view is so beautiful and the setting is quiet and peaceful. We loved sitting on the porch just taking it in. Thank you for a great stay!" - "We loved this property! It was great for our annual reunion of middle school friends celebrating 40 years of friendship. The location was very convenient for visiting Monticello, and the views from the back porch were only topped by the view from the top of the mountain! We would recommend bringing vehicles with a slightly higher ground clearance due to the curvy and unpaved portion of the access road. We met the property owners when we went to enjoy a sunset at the top of the hill, and they were very friendly and welcoming!"

Antique log cabin C. 1810, recently relocated and lovingly restored. We are approximately 20 miles from Charlottesville, local to numerous wineries, and 38 miles from Massanutten Ski Resort. Here you can enjoy a rustic getaway, with all of the modern features you need to be perfectly comfortable. You will find yourself surrounded by an abundance of wildlife: Deer, Turkey, Foxes, Eagles, Osprey, Herons and more (a bird-watcher’s paradise!). Look out the window and be met with top notch country views- 110 acres of rolling pastures, pristine ponds, and marked walking trails. If you plan to use the trails or ponds, let us know and we will be happy to give you a tour upon arrival! Our trout pond was re-stocked mid-October, 2024 with approx. 800 lbs. of Rainbow trout, averaging between 2-3 lbs. Watch the video tour to see a clip of a past release! Many citation fish are caught from our ponds annually. A sportsman's delight!
For the ultimate in relaxation, try our private 3-person sauna.
While pets are generally discouraged, we are pet tolerant depending on the age, size and breed of the animal. Please inquire before booking.
- "Very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful cabin inside and out. A wonderful place to get away and relax." - "Everything you would ever want for a vacation! The restored/rebuilt cabin is nothing short of amazing, from the craftsmanship, to the fine furnishings, to the modern conveniences and amenities. We walked the beautiful property and trails, and fished and relaxed by the ponds. We traveled to nearby towns for antique shops, explored different areas of Charlottesville, visited the Monticello, and traveled Skyline Drive in Shenendoah National Park. This property is quiet, secluded, and a real treat to nature enthusiasts like our family. We spent hours rocking on the porch while watching fawns and bald eagles daily. Wic was the most gracious and thoughtful host who made us feel welcome and at home. His hospitality and special touches made us feel like family. One week was not enough. We cannot wait to return to this property, it is truly Heaven on Earth!"

Welcome to Maple Crest, its new landscaping and additional updates! If you're visiting UVA or Woodberry Forest, attending a wedding at Grelen, a local Garden Tour, the races at Montpellier; or if you simply enjoy wineries, craft beers, history, antiques, art and beautiful views and hikes at the heart of Virginia’s Piedmont... and want to bring Fido or Mittens along, then Maple Crest is perfect for you. In the Spring of 2025, Maple Crest became a flower farm and, with Grelen's Wedding Venues around the corner, Maple Crest is a perfect place to get ready and cut and arrange your own flower bouquets. Inquire ahead for flower availability. This c.1929 home has been thoroughly renovated. The eat-in kitchen is bright and spacious with quartz countertops and new appliances. A cheerful nook is a great place to catch up on emails while you enjoy the birds on the feeder just inches from your seat. There is a half bath on the first floor along with a large living room with a fireplace and a bright sunroom that has eastern and western views. A perfect room for an intimate chat or a deep dive into a good book. There are three bedrooms (one in suite) and two full baths upstairs. The hall bath has an antique clawfoot tub with a shower and the primary bath has a walk-in shower. There is a good utility basement with a washer, dryer, and sink. The house is wonderfully sunny and bright. There are lovely views of surrounding mountains and farms from every room. You'll enjoy sunsets from the front porch and sunrises from the back if you choose to rise early. The front yard is bounded by mature boxwoods offering privacy and a fabulous lawn for croquet. The backyard is fenced with plenty of room for you and your canine friends to romp and play. Behind the backyard is an acre of fenced pasture ideal for field sports and for gathering fresh veggies and flowers in season. If you enjoy the sounds of chickens, (next door), crickets, tree frogs, and the sounds of trains (surprisingly exciting!), and appreciate being surrounded by farms and farmers within scant minutes of important historic sites and some great wineries, we think you'll enjoy being our guests at Maple Crest. ARE YOU PLANNING A SMALL EVENT? We'd love to help you host/cater events, such as rehearsal dinners, birthday parties, bridal luncheons, sunset cocktail gatherings, and local "chef's-table" dinner experiences. Please, ask us about this! Happy stay!
- "House was wonderfully appointed and super clean. It was very spacious and accommodating. Hosts were wonderful and very easy to communicate with. Fenced in backyard was very much enjoyed by our dog. We even got to enjoy some fruit and vegetables for the garden by the house. 10/10 would recommend and we look forward to our next stay." - "The home was stunning - so much natural light and lovely views. As far as VRBO rentals we have had, this is by far the cleanest with everything anyone will need for their home away from home. No issues whatsoever. Enjoyed our stay and would like to come back for a longer visit one day."

Want to bring a crowd to visit Monticello and all the Charlottesville attractions? Maybe hit some wineries, or tour UVA (or come to a game). And have a rural location with peace and quiet and no traffic hassles?
This spacious house is just 14 miles from Monticello, and there are over a dozen wineries within 30 minutes, plus UVA and Charlottesville. Plenty of restaurants, groceries, shopping and even golf only 3 miles away at the Zion Crossroads/I-64 interchange. Or zip into Charlottesville on I-64 in 15 minutes.
The house is much larger than the exterior pictures indicate. The living spaces upstairs are quite large, including a large deck overlooking the back yard. Three bedrooms, two baths on that level. Then go downstairs where there is another living room/den, full kitchen, bedroom and bath, plus a double garage that we have set up as a game room. The game room includes ping pong, foosball, air hockey and a huge smart TV where you can stream shows or plug in your game consoles.
The large front lawn of the house is flat enough for pick-up games of football, softball, soccer or whatever.
This the place to gather the extended family or a group of friends to make some memories in the beautiful and historic Charlottesville area.
- "A group of 10 moms from Richmond, VA travelled to Charlottesville for our first ever FIT4MOM Richmond Retreat. We were looking for a house big enough to sleep us all not too far out of town. This house provided a great space for all of us to unwind and have fun!" - "We picked this property because of its proximity to Charlottesville and the fact that we had 4 adult couples going and wanted 4 queen rooms with lots of bathrooms. This property was perfect with plenty of living space to enjoy together and apart. Thank you for allowing us to visit your property."

This space offers a cozy and warm environment with many wonderful amenities. While at the farm, you can pet and feed the variety of farm animals, fish at the pond, enjoy some great farm games and catch a glimpse of nature. Explore our family garden at your leisure. Our farm has many different things to keep you busy whether it is fishing in our small pond or helping out with the family's daily farm chores. This is a working family farm with goats, geese, horses, chickens, lambs, ducks, bees, cows, ducks, quail, rabbits, guinea fowl, cats, and dogs. At any given time we have some kind of fur baby whether it is bunnies, puppies, lambs, kids, or chicks. Learn to take care of baby chicks or milk a cow. We run a full-time halal pastured-raised farm business. Wake to the sounds of the roosters crowing and eat dinner while enjoying a picturesque view of the farm animals grazing in the pasture behind the home. Cozy up to the woodstove fireplace with a book from over 100+ homesteading/farming books on the bookshelf. Enjoy farm fresh eggs for breakfast, visit and feed the animals ( farm tours available on request).
This is an ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit). It is attached to the host's home but has a separate private entrance, separate living space that includes a kitchenette, bathroom, and deck. Very similar to an in-law studio.
This is your home away from home! We're thrilled to host you and want to ensure you have a comfortable and memorable stay. This is your sanctuary for rest and relaxation, complete with all the essentials for a comfortable stay. To make your experience as seamless as possible, here's a guide to the spaces you can access during your visit:
YOUR PRIVATE SPACE
Deck: The deck leads to the entrance of the unit and overlooks the backyard and farm. There is an outdoor table (seating for 4), chairs, and umbrella.
Sleeping space: Queen size bed, outfitted with fresh linens, and ample storage for your belongings that includes 2 bedside tables, and a wardrobe closet. Iron and ironing board are included. There is a sofa, and a rollaway twin cot. This room can comfortably sleep 4 people (queen bed, sofa, and twin cot).
Living Space: A comfortable sofa, with a small coffee table facing a wardrobe that sits a large flat screen tv. Free Wifi is available. Bookshelf with plenty of homestead/farming reading material. A seasonal wood burning stove.
Kitchenette: This kitchenette has a mini refrigerator/freezer, countertop that doubles as an eating space, coffee maker, toaster-oven, 2-burner hot-plate, cutting board, cookware, dishes, utensils, 4 stools, paper towels, hand soap, and a trash basket. You will find coffee, creamer, and sugar to get you started in the morning.
Bathroom: A full bathroom that has a shower, toilet, sink, and 4 sets of clean towels are provided. Hair dryer, first-aid kit, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. There is also a hand-held bidet at the toilet.
Workspace: Large desk with drawers, lamp, chair, and waste basket.
SHARED SPACE
Backyard: Fire-pit, several grills and picnic tables. A large playground, Ninja obstacle course, trampoline, seesaw, kids picnic table, a hammock, and swinging bench.
Small Garden: Directly in back of the home is a small garden space with strawberries and herbs. We ask that you not pick any of the fruits/vegetables without prior consent, but you are welcome to hang out at your leisure.
Farm: This is the fenced-in area down the hill which includes the barn and all fenced animal areas. You are welcome to explore the large garden. If you would like to interact with the farm animals or enter an animal enclosure, it must be done in the presence of one of the farm helpers to ensure all gates are properly closed and locked.
Full disclosure: Although the farm is peaceful most of the time it is a farm complete with the sound of crowing, quacking, braying, and mooing. Sometimes there are geese honking, a dog barking and goat nays. All of the farm animals include the smell of the farm if the wind is blowing right. All of the farm animals are friendly and non-threatening, but there is one sassy goose to keep an eye out for. Bring boots for visiting the animals, especially in the winter months when the grass is dead and it is rainy. Please note that this is a farm in the country, and there is always the possibility of encountering critters like bugs, spiders, lizards, etc.
My family lives on the premises so we are here in case of an emergency.
5-8 minutes away from historic downtown Gordonsville, restaurants, and stores. 20 minutes away from beautiful hiking trails. 30 minutes away from Shenandoah National Park. 30 minutes away from Charlottesville. 1 hour away from Luray Caverns

- "Perfect place for girls trip. Hit up local wineries and Uber back safely to this house. Beds were firm, but I found them comfy!! We honestly didn’t really utilize the kitchen, so can’t speak to how well stocked the kitchen was. The house was clean and plenty of space for all 9 of us!! Was very easy to access. Close to grocery and ABC store and a few restaurants. Would definitely stay here again for a girl’s trip!!" - "We loved this as a stop for our family of 6 on the way to the Outer Banks. Easy stop off the highway, much much better than multiple hotel rooms! Even though it’s close to the highway it’s also tucked away in nature, loved the big yard and the fire pit. Kids loved the game room after a long day in the car. Clean, comfortable and well stocked kitchen and bathrooms!!"

- "The property was peaceful and quiet. " - "Arriving there, our house was double booked and since there is a house next door we were saved and able to stay in Peartree. Frightenly poor communication with host. There were bookings from Bookings.com that overbooked our already paid confirmation. I am a lover of historical homes and beautiful mountain views. Many nice upgrades in the house were done. Clearly there was an effort to bring the farm house up to date. Since the host refuses to communicate up front and on arrival I fear the next guest who doesn’t love old houses and mountains."

- The Cottage and Cabin were completely renovated in 2022 and 2023 respectively and feel brand new; however, both are set in a rural landscape. Guests may encounter bits of nature seeking shelter indoors and will find comfort using the handheld vacuum to dispose of any insect intruders.
- "Perfect size and location for our extended weekend. No one bothering you and felt like it was your own home" - "We had a wonderful stay at the Stonemont farm for my friend’s bachelorette weekend. The cottage and cabin were decorated beautifully and very clean. Checking in and out was smooth and simple. We loved that the location was near wineries and also hiking because those were our main reasons for visiting. Overall I would recommend this rental to any large group! We had a wonderful time and the property was beautiful! "

Visit Monticello, UVA and your choice of over a dozen wineries within 30 minutes' drive. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the rural location, with the convenience of being just a few miles from Zion Crossroads, where you have many restaurants, grocery store, and other shopping options (including a week-end farmer's market). Just 15 minutes into Charlottesville.
- "The property was perfect for our stay for UVA graduation weekend. It is a quick drive to grounds and comfortably fit four people. We had a slight problem upon arrival, where the adjoining rental had gained access to our property through a door left unlocked. The owner was immediately available to resolve, but it was unnerving to find someone in our space. Recommend a deadbolt lockout between the areas for the future, as even when locked, we would have controlled access to their area- which isn't safe for the other renters."

The cottage:
A quaint getaway set back in Virginia wine country, this lovely cottage makes a perfect Vineyard getaway. Our design concept focused on a bright, airy contemporary cottage with an old fashioned feel. Clean, modern lines and high ceilings mix with graceful arches, re-sawn heart pine rafters and hardwood floors.
The ground level offers a lovely common room with TV and sofa bed that can sleep 2. There are 2 sunny and inviting bedrooms -- a king bedroom and a queen with adjoining bathroom.
Head downstairs to find a spacious dining space, as well as an additional full bathroom and washer/dryer. The downstairs kitchen takes its inspiration from the French farm kitchen that provides access to the private backyard patio.

- "Property is tucked in back a gravel road. It was a great get away for my girlfriend and I and our dogs. Highly recommend!" - "This property is not well suited for guests. The second (ground floor) bathroom does not have an inside door, nor does it have window coverings blocking view from the outside, so there is zero privacy from the inside or outside. The house has no clothes closets, clothes hanging space or even towel rods. We were in town for a wedding, so this was an issue. Some effort should be made to provide basic amenities, i.e. a shower curtain for the upstairs shower. Also, there was a lack of hot water in the upstairs shower, although plenty in other areas of the house. A clear, empty throw-away hand soap dispenser was set up on the master bathroom sink, which was not helpful at all. The house also needs minimal basic conveniences like a mirror in the bedrooms, a dresser or set of drawers of some sort, a towel bar in the bathroom, and some space to hang minimal clothing items, even if just a rolling closet rack. Simply put, it appears no effort has been made to provide any comfort or convenience for the people staying in the house. Anyone planning to use this home as a staging point for getting ready for a nice dressy affair, requiring hot showers, mirrors to get ready, or clothes on hangers will be challenged. On the plus side, the a/c worked very well, and the kitchen appliances appear new."

- "The cottage is really superb. It appears to be a recent refinish, and the build quality is excellent. All the appliances are great, fixtures, bathroom seems new and very high end. The entire place and grounds are maintained to a great standard. The owners clearly put a lot of thought and effort into having a five star hotel experience for guests. But with a much more peaceful and calm environment; the location is wonderful. "

- "Ben Coolyn Farm offered our three generation family an ideal place to retreat for nearly a week. Because we had three under 4, we chose to eat all our meals in the beautiful, light filled, well equipped kitchen with its long table with a wall of windows looking out over the expansive lawn, over the pond, the vineyard to the mountains. A family of musicians, we played the grand piano and the instruments we brought; we put together myriad puzzles, and explored the extensive paths through beautiful gardens and played games on all the shady lawns. The heated swimming pool drew us to the house. We hired a superb teacher to give three littles swimming lessons every morning. The area is wonderful - we know because we live on the other side of Charlottesville - so this was about a retreat and being together after the separation of the Pandemic. It was magical setting. We are so grateful!"
