OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE
Lazy Days Cabin is located on the edge of a small cabin community one half mile north of Kanopolis Lake. Opened in 1948, the 3,500-acre reservoir offers fishing, boating, and swimming. Refer to ksoutdoors.com for all the rules and regulations around the lake. Beginning in 2022 Hart Marina now has a pontoon boat, Sea-Doo personal watercraft, kayaks and a golf cart available for rent. For more details and reservations visit hartmarina.com. (The marina is closed from November - mid-March.)

Surrounding the lake is a 12,500-acre wildlife area with opportunities for hunting and more than 30 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and ATV’s. Explore sandstone bluffs and the caves and crevices of Horsethief Canyon, and you will be rewarded with stunning views of the Smoky Hills’ rugged beauty. Kanopolis State Park was the first state park in Kansas, and the Army Corps of Engineers operates two federal parks at the lake. North of the lake is Mushroom State Park, a picnic area with unusual geological formations. The Kansas Motorcycle Museum in Marquette, the Fort Harker Guard House Museum in Kanopolis, and shopping and art showcasing Lindsborg’s Swedish heritage are all within a half hour’s drive.

Our backyard neighbors are totally off-grid...how cool is that! They use small wind-powered generators for electricity, so do know that this system is next-door and is doing its part to create Earth friendly electricity for them.

We love our dogs and know you love yours too. Please let us know if you have a furry traveler with you so we can accommodate. There will be a $25 pet fee added.

During the winter months, we understand that weather plays an important part in vacation travel plans. If inclement weather hits and you are unable to get to the cabin or need to leave early because of weather, we will work with you on your reservation fees. We have provided a snow shovel and ice melt for guests to use as needed. Before your arrival, we will strive to have cleared walkways for you. If large amounts of snow would fall during your stay, a local neighbor is willing to come open up the driveway for guests. In the past few years, Kansas hasn't gotten much snow during the winter, but we have plans in place for our guests just in case we do get accumulated amounts.

We hope you book a stay and enjoy a getaway in our cabin!

Guest Reviews:

- "Really nice place. You could tell the owner had really put alot of thought into the needs of visitors. Quite a cozy little spot. The bathroom was spotless as was the rest of the home. Nice restaurant 20 yards away with breakfast, lunch, and dinner—we became regulars. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks for the hospitality." - "Harker House was small but clean and comfortable. The pros are the updated large bathroom, comfortable beds, heat and AC. The kitchen was okay for us because we ate out but the lack of stove and seating might be a problem for others. The location is on main in a small town so there is a busy restaurant across the street (very good mexican food) and a bar two doors down. But it is also within walking distance to the Fort Harker Museum which my husband enjoyed. The host was very responsive to our questions. We recommend the Harker House and will stay there again if we are back that way."

- "Clean, comfortable home. We were driving back from the mountains and stayed the night. Very relaxing home." - "The house was an older updated little house. That offered all the things you would have at home. The property was clean and the owners were very responsive to messages. My only suggestion would be to have extra blankets available for use in case you need them on the cool nights and you don’t need the heater just yet. Would definitely rent again when we come back to the area."

Tradhuset: Swedish "IKEA" Treehouse w/Shaded Deck
Apartment
Lindsborg, Kansas, USA

This luxury studio apartment, shaded by large trees, rests above a carriage house that fits the bill with high-quality comfortable furnishings, and peaceful, welcoming vibe. Tradhuset (Swedish for "the treehouse") provides the perfect, centrally-located home base while exploring everything Lindsborg has to offer.

Tradhuset is a studio apartment that lives big! Designed by Victoria Freeman, the vaulted ceilings with wood beams and warm colors create an airy and inviting space.

The living room creates a tranquil sanctuary, with a sofa that can open to a double bed and two ergonomic chairs. Lamps and side tables create a lovely conversation area and the side desk locks for storing your electronics. Two triangular dormer windows in the living area welcome the robin's-egg blue Kansas skies. For guests on a workcation, Tradhuset (treehouse) has a desk too!

Awake rested, refreshed, and ready for another day of exploring in the comfortable queen size Casper bed. A smart TV swivels between the sleeping and living areas, making it easy to enjoy your favorite shows either from the bed or the sofa. We provide Hulu+Live TV with no ads and gigabyte speed WiFi.

A fully-equipped U-shaped kitchen with full size stainless-steel appliances is an unexpected and welcome surprise at Tradhuset. The cabinets are full with whatever you might need to create a full meal, simple snack, or anything in between. Enjoy your culinary creations at the raised dining bar for four.

The luxe bathroom offers a spa-like experience with plenty of fluffy towels and robes, an oversized tiled walk-in shower and dual vanities. A beautiful glass-tiled backsplash offers a special and colorful touch.

Pack light! A full-size front-loading washer and dryer are right next to the bathroom, with eco-friendly laundry detergent provided.

After a long day of shopping, exploring, or antiquing, it will be a pleasure to return to Tradhuset (treehouse), pour a glass of your favorite beverage and retire to the large, furnished balcony under the trees to discuss your day and plan for the next, all while making new and happy memories.

We also offer a grill area, but we ask that you check with us before using.

Sustainability is literally built into Tradhuset (treehouse). Built from engineered structural insulation panels, Tradhuset keeps the outside temperatures where they belong - outside! The interior is heated and cooled as needed by high-efficiency heat pumps, often called minisplits. Solar panels on the roof offset power consumption. Appliances are Energy Star certified and plumbing fixtures minimize water consumption. The recycling bin is located outside on the deck.

Prior to arrival, guests are provided with an entry code that will unlock the entry door. Be sure to lock the doors each time you leave Tradhuset (treehouse).

Contact information is provided near the telephone. Our intent is to leave guests alone to enjoy Lindsborg and central Kansas, unless you really need us.

Lindsborg, Kansas is an artist community that embraces its unique spin on all things Swedish. Guests visit Lindsborg for its festivals, shopping along Main Street and art museums, including the Sandzen Gallery (America's Van Gogh). Coronado Heights (a "castle" built by the Works Progress Administration during the Depression) is a popular destination for picnics and to soak in views of the countryside. Larger cities of Salina and McPherson are a short drive away. Another destination is Hutchinson's Cosmosphere, the largest collection of Russian and American space memorabilia outside of the Smithsonian - including the Apollo 13 capsule Odyssey.

Guests drive to this destination. Lindsborg is located about 4 miles west of I-135. The closest airport is Salina Municipal Airport (SLN), approximately 20 miles away. The Eisenhower National Airport in Wichita (ICT) is approximately 80 miles away.

Parking is available at carport at Tradhuset (treehouse), but only for small vehicles. Simply park it in front of the carport. Do not park in front of the double-car garage door, as it belongs to another tenant on the property. If you block the garage door, you may be towed. And we don't want that! Alternately guests may park their vehicle in the adjacent bank parking lot.

The property manager can meet the guests for a tour of the property.

Most maintenance and repair work is completed when properties are unoccupied. Certain tasks, such as mowing or servicing heating and cooling equipment, may be conducted outside the property's four walls during a stay.

If maintenance, repair, or cleaning is necessary while guests are present, the property manager will notify guests of the required work, estimated time of arrival, and, if available, the staff member(s) assigned. Guests are required to respond to these messages to facilitate proper scheduling of the work.

The view from the balcony was a little boring but I loved being within walking distance of so much." - "We love getting to stay at the tree house this weekend! It’s perfectly located on Main Street in Lindsborg and the space was nicely kept. The sitting area , bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom were distinctly separate and functional. Garden View Lodge is located in Lucas, Kansas, directly across the street from the Garden of Eden art site.
Story has it that it was built for a son of the Garden's creator, Samuel Perry Dinsmoor, in the 1920s. It may have been a kit house that was delivered on the railroad.
It's a neat, clean, and cozy house that has been well preserved, with a small town feel. It reminds us of visiting our grandparents’ farmhouse.

It is a fully equipped house located in Lucas, Kansas, Grassroots Art Capital of Kansas and one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas. We have a kitchen for your use, but please be advised that we do not have a dishwasher.

For those of you traveling on I-70, Lucas is 18 miles North of the Wilson exit. You will have full access to the house and plenty of privacy.

Just 8 miles from Wilson Lake, it's a great location for swimming, boating, fishing and hunting trips.

You can see the Garden of Eden art site across the street, as well as the Miller's Park sculptures, and you can walk downtown in three short blocks. It's a quiet setting.

Besides being the Grassroots Art Capital of Kansas, Lucas is also one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas. There is a lot to see in this small town of 400 residents. You could spend a full day touring all of the sites.

Garden View Lodge is close to the Garden of Eden, Miller's Park sculptures, the World's Largest Collection of the World's Smallest Things, Grassroots Art Center, the Florence Deeble House and Rock Garden, Bowl Plaza, Fork Art Park, Switchgrass Art CoOp, the Dada Museum, Post Office, liquor store, hardware store, library with an internet hotspot, convenience store/gas station with bait shop, restaurant, and a first-run movie theatre. This is a small town and most everything is closed by 10 pm, so please keep this in mind if arriving late (like for meals or gas).

A recently added attraction is Bowl Plaza, a very original and highly decorated take on public restrooms! You can walk to all of these locations.

For those of you who are general aviation pilots, the Lucas airport, 38K, is 1485 MSL. Its asphalt 17-35 runway is 2940 x 50 feet with constant overnight lighting. You can taxi to the adjacent gas station for unleaded gas. (No av fuel available.) It is a walkable distance to our house.

We have DIRECTV , 2 TVs, and 2 DVD players. Feel free to bring your own video DVDs, or the library has videos for checkout. There's a free wireless hotspot at the library, at the intersection of Second and Main Street, and most smartphones receive good service in the area.

Many guests rely on bringing their laptops or tablets for entertainment.
For Wi-Fi, you can use the Garden of Eden’s service, which does not require a password.

We have lawn chairs, a picnic table, and a Weber grill available if you'd like to use the yard.
Best of all, this is a quiet setting where you can enjoy a night's rest.

Pets are allowed but we do ask that you tell us ahead of time you are bringing them, they are not left unattended, and you clean up any messes inside and outside.

Please note that Lucas is 16 miles north of Interstate 70 in central Kansas. The route from I-70 to Lucas is a scenic 20 minute drive which passes by the east side of Lake Wilson and across its dam.
Traveling this Post Rock Scenic Byway is a pleasant way to wind down from the intensity of Interstate travel.
Exit the Interstate at exit 206 (Wilson/Lucas exit), and drive north on Kansas Rt. 232. At the intersection of Kansas Highway 18, turn left. Lucas is less than a mile away.
You can also arrive and depart via Highway 18 from the east or west.
Gas and supplies are available on K-18 Highway on the east side of town at Home Oil Service, which is adjacent to K-18 Cafe. The cafe is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is a classic cafe with great biscuits and gravy. Their fried chicken is amazing as well.
If you plan to cook at our house, please plan ahead and bring the groceries you need. Lucas doesn't have a large grocery store, but Wilson and Russell have grocery stores.
Home Oil Service, on highway 18, stocks basic groceries, sells pizzas, sub sandwiches, beer, fishing tackle, and hunting ammunition. They also have a mechanic on duty.

Guest Reviews:

- "If you are fishing lake Wilson this is a great location with several beds. Plenty of room " - "Great location for us. Only complaint i had is there is no wifi at the house, but there is satellite TV. Owners would be able to reduce monthly cost, but also make guests happier with wifi and a smart TV instead." - "We just stayed here a night as a mid way point on our road trip. It was what we needed." - "There is no wifi or cell service at this place. We felt unsafe because the door could have easily been broken into. The museum across the street is very strange and unsettling. All 5 of my family members felt discernment not to stay the night. I contacted the host about it and she didn't get back to me for over 14 hours. There is only one place to eat in town and it was OK. This home and the weird museum are over 15 miles out of the way and very isolated. The beds looked fine but there is also no living space for 5 people to comfortably hang out together. If we had service or wifi or a secure door we may have stayed. The combination of feeling unsafe and the unsettling statues across the street were enough for us to move along. "
