We do realize last minute overnight guests may come for a variety of reasons. If this situation arises please contact me and amend your reservation for the correct number of people. This will protect both parties in regards to your insurance coverage etc.

Our large spacious kitchen includes many items need to feel at home during your stay, such as: Microwave, Keurig with coffee, creamer and sugar, utensils, pots/pans, dishes, silverware, cutting boards, baking sheets, paper towels, toaster, kettle, and so much more.

Our bathroom comes stocked with many of the items you will need for your stay, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toilet paper, towels, vanity mirror, hand soap and a hair dryer.

Guest will also find a washer and dryer available for use during their stay, along with Tide Pods, Shout, and dryer sheets.

There are also two locations in the home that contain cleaning supplies for guest use, such as dish washer tabs, trash bags, sanitizer, rags, etc. in the event that these items are needed.

The beds were very comfortable, which is huge for us. I also loved the ample sunlight. The presence of laundry facilities was great. However, don’t run the dryer at night- it’s exceptionally loud and reverberates through the house. The only real issue we had was there was no proper way to sit as a family to eat. Kids need supervision when they eat, so it’s important to sit together. We couldn’t trust the kids to eat on the sofa, but there was no other way to sit as a family. We ended up giving the kids seats at the bar and then the adults stood. If this issue were addressed we would probably stay again, as we make trips into Topeka yearly."

We charge a $60 pet fee per pet, per 30-day period, due before entry. This is not for cleaning or damages, and guests must clean up after their pets, including waste in the yard.

This comfortable 600 sq foot apartment features a very comfortable queen sized bed with soft linens, full kitchen, and bath, and direct access to the spacious covered deck. The large windows bring in wonderful natural light, but curtains and blinds allow for privacy when desired. Set up with all you need for a quick overnight stay, or a longer term need, you will find all the comforts of home. The living room features a 50" Smart TV, an assortment of games, books, magazines, lift top coffee table, sofa, and recliner. The kitchen features a range, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, and Keurig. You will also find the dishes, pans, utensils, flour, sugar, and basic spices needed to prepare food for a quiet night in. There is filtered water in the fridge, pods for the Keurig, creamer/sugar, and an assortment of snacks available as well.
A favorite feature is the fenced back yard, accessible only to tenants/guests of the building. Here you will find the beautiful paver patio and fire pit, swings, outdoor toys, and patio furniture. A great place bring your children or dog, or just relax.

Built in 1904, this grand building was originally 8 flats. It was reconfigured in the 50's and 60's and is now 18 apartments. I purchased the building in 2018 and began renovation of the fully outdated and poorly maintained building, which I renamed "Ad Astra Place Apartments" after the Kansas state motto, "Ad Astra, Per Aspera", or "To the Stars Through Difficulty."
I have 3 short term rental units, all of which are on the 2nd floor of the North hallway (the building has both a North and South hallway.)
As a dog lover and rescuer, I made my building dog friendly and have fenced in the back yard to provide a place for our furry friends to stretch their legs leash free.

All 3 short term rental units at Ad Astra are located on the 2nd floor of the building, accessible by stairs. Assistance with luggage is available upon request.
Guests have the entire rental unit to themselves. This unit has a back door which opens up onto the 35' x 18' covered deck. The deck steps take you down directly into the back yard, which is private and shared only with tenants. Guests are welcome to use the patio, firepit, swings, and any of the other amenities in the back yard.
Additionally, in the back yard guests have access to the coin operated laundry room (which can also be operated utilizing the PayRange app, no quarters needed!) Your key card provides you with access to the laundry room in addition to the front door of the building and the apartment.

*Please note that this unit is on the 2nd floor and accessible by stairs from the front and from the back. If you need assistance carrying your luggage up or down the steps, just ask and we are happy to help!

This comfortable 600 sq foot apartment features a very comfortable queen sized bed with soft linens, full kitchen, and bath, and direct access to the spacious covered deck. The large windows bring in wonderful natural light, but curtains and blinds allow for privacy when desired. Set up with all you need for a quick overnight stay, or a longer term need, you will find all the comforts of home. The living room features a 50" Smart TV, an assortment of games, books, magazines, lift top coffee table, sofa, and recliner. The kitchen features a range, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, and Keurig. You will also find the dishes, pans, utensils, flour, sugar, and basic spices needed to prepare food for a quiet night in. There is filtered water in the fridge, pods for the Keurig, creamer/sugar, and an assortment of snacks available as well.
A favorite feature is the fenced back yard, accessible only to tenants/guests of the building. Here you will find the beautiful paver patio and fire pit, swings, outdoor toys, and patio furniture. A great place bring your children or dog, or just relax.

Built in 1904, this grand building was originally 8 flats. It was reconfigured in the 50's and 60's and is now 18 apartments. I purchased the building in 2018 and began renovation of the fully outdated and poorly maintained building, which I renamed "Ad Astra Place Apartments" after the Kansas state motto, "Ad Astra, Per Aspera", or "To the Stars Through Difficulty."
I have 3 short term rental units, all of which are on the 2nd floor of the North hallway (the building has both a North and South hallway.)
As a dog lover and rescuer, I made my building dog friendly and have fenced in the back yard to provide a place for our furry friends to stretch their legs leash free.

All 3 short term rental units at Ad Astra are located on the 2nd floor of the building, accessible by stairs. Assistance with luggage is available upon request.
Guests have the entire rental unit to themselves. This unit has a back door which opens up onto the 35' x 18' covered deck. The deck steps take you down directly into the back yard, which is private and shared only with tenants. Guests are welcome to use the patio, firepit, swings, and any of the other amenities in the back yard.
Additionally, in the back yard guests have access to the coin operated laundry room (which can also be operated utilizing the PayRange app, no quarters needed!) Your key card provides you with access to the laundry room in addition to the front door of the building and the apartment.

We have a desk! It can be a regular desk, or also converts to a standing desk! It is located in the master bedroom nook.

The third bedroom is a “bunk room” with a queen size bed and a twin XL over it. Great for families with children! If you need access to use the loft bed, please request the ladder for your stay! Otherwise we have it stored for more space in that room.

You may use the slide and swing in the middle of the circle drive at your own risk. The garages and fenced backyard spaces are private and are off limits.

Cozy living and kitchen areas do not offer much dining space but we do have 4 counter stools around the kitchen island. When the weather cooperates, the private balcony offers extra space with a glass dining table and 4 chairs.

We have gigabit internet. There are Smart TVs with apps on which you may use your own logins.

If you or any of your guests are smokers or vapers, I highly recommend looking elsewhere, as there is a rule stating NO smoking OR vaping is allowed anywhere on the property, including outside. A minimum $250 fee will be charged if there is any smoking or vaping on the premises.

There is a flight of stairs to get to the guest quarters. Please take that into consideration before you book a stay.

Parking is limited to 2-3 cars maximum, and must be out of the circle drive. There is a dedicated asphalt parking area at the front of the main house. You will see a green and white Guest parking sign. Please do not block the garages or circle drive as we will need to come and go. NO street parking available.

If you need a portable crib (Pack n Play) for an infant/toddler under age 3, please ask as we have one available! There are blinds and/or curtains in each of the bedrooms. We have provided an iron and ironing board for your convenience located in the master.

Someone is always on the premises in the main house and have a child. Please be respectful and quiet after 9 pm on weekdays, and after 10 pm on weekends.

You are responsible for taking out your trash and recycling at the end of your stay. The Blue bin next to the main house is for recycling and the Green bin is for trash. You may recycle plastics, aluminum, glass, tin, cardboard, chipboard. See magnet on the refrigerator in the Carriage House.

The neighborhood is generally a quiet, old one. The Burroughs Creek playground and splash park is only a couple blocks away. The Burroughs Creek Trail is a quick walk (about 1-2 blocks away) and it is perfect for either biking or walking/running.

Massachusetts (Mass.) St. is close, as well as the up and coming Warehouse Arts District in East Lawrence.

Our home is an 1894 Queen Anne Revival with a renovated 3rd floor(with its own HVAC system), sun room, pocket doors, a gorgeous stair case and 4,000 sq feet of landscaping. We are blessed to be the latest care-takers of this little piece of Lawrence history. The room is on the third floor and has its own private bath.

We have parking on the premises. The driveway is on 17th Street at the end of the white fence. There is also free on-street parking as well. Each guest is given a personal code to the door when they arrive.

During your stay
We love to greet each guest, show them to their room, and get them comfortable. We are pleased to be available or to offer up as much privacy as you wish. My family and I do live in the home and any one of us is happy to make you a latte in the morning. Coffee is also available and muffins are provided for our shorter-term guests.

Whenever possible, I try to be present for check-in to show you around and welcome you to the space. After that, you're free to come and go as you please and can interact with me as much or as little as you'd like. My husband, Jeff, who is a pilot, may also be around occasionally.

You have easy access to your private area from the shared main entrance, directly up the stairs.

We are 2.5-3 miles from City Center, in a quiet neighborhood setting. There is a nearby park, and free public transport.

The space
This is a Townhome, and our private residence. You share the home with us, your hosts. The neighborhood is quiet, on a dead end street which offers extra security and low traffic.

Guests have a private room at the top of the stairs, with a full bath right next door. Quiet, clean, colorful and extremely comfortable.

Our front door takes you right up the stairs. (You share the stairs, as our private office is upstairs, around the corner from your room. )

Shared space includes the living room, TV (this is the only TV on property) patio and yard, and the kitchen/dining area, including the refrigerator. You have access (with some advance notice, please) to the laundry facilities.

Guests are welcome to share the kitchen and other common areas as noted.

Guest access
We offer a keyless entry for "Self Check-In" convenience. Your Code and other details are provided before check-in. However, when we are home, we often try to meet you at the door at check-in. We live here, so meeting guests face to face is a good practice, when possible. If we don't answer the bell, just use your code.

Our front door takes you right up the stairs. (You will share the stairs, as our private office is upstairs. Our occasional use of the office while we are hosting is typically not a problem for our guests) Your room and bath is around the corner—to the right—at top of stairs.

There is never a "curfew" except that we like to know when you will be checking in on your first night. Once you are setted in, please come and go as you like. There is a key to the room door on the desk of your room.

Guests do 📣not have access to: the primary bedroom, main floor bathroom or our private office.

You have access to the garage for garbage containers and storage of smaller items. Upon request, you may store excess belongings (bicycles, etc) in our garage, and depending upon circumstances we may provide the garage code.

During your stay
Privacy is a top value for us, and many guests want their time to be a “silent” retreat. We respect that!

Additionally, if you'd like to chat and socialize: we are reasonably attuned to taking cues and we are available a lot. Hosting has allowed us to meet some great people, we have even made lifelong friends!

Hannah's Haven is a cozy 2nd floor apartment in my home. My youngest daughter, Hannah, lived here for 5 years. It was her haven, The separate entrance and off-street parking make it an attractive place for guests. In the historic Oakland neighborhood of Topeka, convenient to downtown Topeka, the Capitol, and our 3 hospitals. Nicely decorated, fully equipped for short- or long-term stays, plenty of space for one or two guests. Guests staying more than a month may ask for an additional discount.

The space
The apartment has been redecorated and there are lots of windows, so lots of light. I think that's my favorite feature of the whole house. The kitchen sink and counter have been upgraded to make cleaning up much easier. The bedroom has a queen size bed and there is a twin size air-bed, the height of a regular bed, which can fit in the living room. The entire space is for for my guests and the separate entrance makes it private.

This apartment has a separate entrance, so guests have private access to this completely furnished space. There is a covered patio with furniture next to the detached garage at the back of the property. That is a available for guests, as well, weather permitting.

Other things to note
It's just half a block from The Pizza Parlor, a popular eating place in Oakland, for decades. This new location is large and has lots of TVs, so it's a great place to watch whatever sporting event is a must see. On the other end of the scale is Chez Yasu, a French restaurant with a Japanese chef (who studied in France). It is about a 15-minute drive. The food is excellent and highly recommended by Hannah, who lived in France for a summer. We only go there on very special occasions, but it is worth the higher price. There are other unique places to eat and see in Topeka, which is an easy city to navigate. Just ask me for suggestions and directions. Some of my suggestions are in the house manual you will see when you arrive.

A stay here offers privacy and comfort and short walk to either the University of Kansas campus or downtown Lawrence. This room is on the third floor and has its own private attached bathroom. Perfect for a couple's weekend get-away.

The space
Our home is an 1894 Queen Anne Revival with a renovated 3rd floor(with its own HVAC system), sun room, pocket doors, a gorgeous stair case and 4,000 sq feet of landscaping. We are blessed to be the latest care-takers of this little piece of Lawrence history. The room is on the third floor and has its own private bath.

We have parking on the premises. The driveway is on 17th Street at the end of the white fence. There is also free on-street parking as well. Each guest is given a personal code to the door when they arrive.

During your stay
We love to greet each guest, show them to their room, and get them comfortable. We are pleased to be available or to offer up as much privacy as you wish. My family and I do live in the home and any one of us is happy to make you a latte in the morning. Coffee is also available and muffins are provided for our shorter-term guests.

You get the best of it all here....

In just nearly a 5-minute walk you will arrive at the first Johnny's Tavern known for their pizza and sports watching atmosphere. Just as close in other directions you can find local Mexican restaurants, furniture stores, and the most delicious local coffee with occasional live music outdoors.

A nature trail along the river is only about 5 blocks away.

A beautiful, 15-minute walk across the river lands you in the heart of Lawrence; its historical downtown.

The space
Welcome!

First please be aware that the room is upstairs. Also this home is near a train that runs during the day and evening.

The room is a nice cozy set up with a full-size bed. There is a walk-in closet that has a dresser with a mirror. You will have your own bathroom that you do not share located in the hallway. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided.

My hope is you have a comfortable place to come rest when you are done adventuring for the day with all that Lawrence has to offer.

You will be able to park on the far right of the driveway towards the back without garage access.

Other things to note
The front door of the home opens up to the downstairs open space. Please note there are stairs required to access the room. It is not an option to reach the room without walking upstairs. While a train is nearby, the room for you is the least affected by the train noise.
