There is also a third firepit on the screened in porch where you can relax and take in the nature around you, especially soothing while listeing to the rain, allowing you to enjoy a delicious meal at the spacious teak dining table.

Take a walk through the woods and commune with nature, where wildlife abounds, including red foxes, red-tailed hawks, groundhogs, white tailed deer, an occasional bald eagle and many other varieties of beautiful and interesting songbirds and woodpeckers.

The Lodge is perfect for more intimate events for up to 50 guests: a family reunion, a murder mystery party, birthday or holiday event. (please inquire for any events as addition fees may apply). If you have an event with more than 50 guests, we are excited to partner with a Michelin star chef (former executive chef at the Waldorf Astoira Hotel) to accommodate your needs. Chef Paul is able to host large events including weddings of up to 100 plus guests, at his beautiful barn in Chester County (please inquire). Chef is also available to design a bespoke menu for you and your guests, and will be your personal chef at the Lodge for smaller occasions of up to 50 guests. Please inquire about any events at the Barn or the Lodge, additional fees will apply. Also upon request we are partnered with an interior designer who will craft beautiful custom floral arrangements, per your desires, at an additional charge.

There is ample parking for up to 10 cars in the driveway near the house. Any additional parking needs during an event will be discussed.

Last, but not least, Newlin Grist Mill Park provided a great little hike (not that Longwood and Winterthur don't require plenty of walking!) My husband said it was his best "Thanksgiving" great family time and lots of good food (and lots of wine with no one needing to drive home at night!)"

The space
Parking at bottom of driveway for guests. Safe and private access to property. Our main house is across the driveway and we are happy to make suggestions for local eats and activities.

There is a smart speaker hooked up to a paid Pandora account so you can listen to ad-free music!

Small pantry has microwave, dishes, mugs, glasses, etc. for convenience when eating leftovers, pre-made, take-out or microwave meals. There is also a small mini fridge and hot water kettle for tea and pour over coffee. NO: oven, stovetop, toaster, or freezer.

We have a strict no-pets policy.

About 30-50 minutes into Center City Philadelphia, depending on traffic, our safe and private neighborhood was developed in the early 1960s and is made up of single family homes situated on lots of an acre or more. The area is partially wooded and adjacent to a 2,600 acre state park, which offers some great hiking trails—maps are available for your leisure.

Car is recommended, Uber/Lyft are usually always available, even in the wee hours of the morning when you need to get back from the bar!

Other things to note
We also have 2 friendly indoor/outdoor cats that roam the property. They are not allowed in the guest house so fear not if you’re allergic! Breezy is the grey one who you may see lounging about; Guppy is a black + brown swirly pattern, but he's generally hiding from guests.
