This home is used exclusively for vacation rentals. The basement is unfinished but has a washer and dryer that guests are welcome to use.

To ensure you get settled in and have a great start to your stay with us, we have provided an initial supply of small items around the house including toilet paper but these may not be enough for your entire stay and you may need to purchase additional supplies.

We do realize last minute overnight guests may come for a variety of reasons. If this situation arises please contact me and amend your reservation for the correct number of people. This will protect both parties in regards to your insurance coverage etc.

This home is exclusively used as a vacation rental and offers three bedrooms, one full bathroom, an open floor plan, with 2 living rooms, and a full kitchen, plus many other unique luxuries to make you feel at home.

All three bedrooms are equipped with hybrid pillow top mattresses and tv’s with streaming services.

Two spacious living rooms are available, with plenty of seating, and tv’s with streaming services.

Our large spacious kitchen includes many items need to feel at home during your stay, such as: Microwave, Keurig with coffee, creamer and sugar, utensils, pots/pans, dishes, silverware, cutting boards, baking sheets, paper towels, toaster, kettle, and so much more.

Our bathroom comes stocked with many of the items you will need for your stay, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toilet paper, towels, vanity mirror, hand soap and a hair dryer.

Guest will also find a washer and dryer available for use during their stay, along with Tide Pods, Shout, and dryer sheets.

There are also two locations in the home that contain cleaning supplies for guest use, such as dish washer tabs, trash bags, sanitizer, rags, etc. in the event that these items are needed.

Note: As you can see, we provide an initial supply of many items in the home, such as toilet paper, dish tabs, etc. because we want our guest to get settled in and have a great start to their stay in our home. With that being said, depending on the length of your stay these items may not be enough and you may need to purchase additional supplies.

However, don’t run the dryer at night- it’s exceptionally loud and reverberates through the house. The only real issue we had was there was no proper way to sit as a family to eat. Kids need supervision when they eat, so it’s important to sit together. We couldn’t trust the kids to eat on the sofa, but there was no other way to sit as a family. We ended up giving the kids seats at the bar and then the adults stood. If this issue were addressed we would probably stay again, as we make trips into Topeka yearly."

I purchased the building in 2018 and began renovation of the fully outdated and poorly maintained building, which I renamed "Ad Astra Place Apartments" after the Kansas state motto, "Ad Astra, Per Aspera", or "To the Stars Through Difficulty."
I have 3 short term rental units, all of which are on the 2nd floor of the North hallway (the building has both a North and South hallway.)
As a dog lover and rescuer, I made my building dog friendly and have fenced in the back yard to provide a place for our furry friends to stretch their legs leash free.

All 3 short term rental units at Ad Astra are located on the 2nd floor of the building, accessible by stairs. Assistance with luggage is available upon request.
Guests have the entire rental unit to themselves. This unit has a back door which opens up onto the 35' x 18' covered deck. The deck steps take you down directly into the back yard, which is private and shared only with tenants. Guests are welcome to use the patio, firepit, swings, and any of the other amenities in the back yard.
Additionally, in the back yard guests have access to the coin operated laundry room (which can also be operated utilizing the PayRange app, no quarters needed!) Your key card provides you with access to the laundry room in addition to the front door of the building and the apartment.

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. The tiny, rustic cabin in the woodland forest is tucked away amongst the cedar trees and snuggled against a ridge. Wild birds are abundant at this bird watcher's paradise. Owls call to you in the evening. Coyotes howl wildly into the night. Opossums, raccoons, deer, blue tailed skinks, toads, fireflies, groundhogs, and bobcats are a few of the critters you might see or hear. Come get back to nature. Unwind at Cedar Ridge Cabin, enjoy the peace.

The space
The tiny cabin has a tiny shower, toilet, and tiny sink in a tiny bathroom. The shower has a small 20-gallon water heater that has a 30 minute recovery time. There is a queen size bed, 2 tiny dressers, a tiny loveseat and a tiny closet in the tiny bedroom. In the tiny kitchen/dining room, there is a full size electric stove, sink, and tiny refrigerator. There is a dining table that seats 2-6.

The patio has 4 chairs and numerous small tables, 1 umbrella, and 1 charcoal barbecue.

Guest access
Parking is available on the front lawn. The entire cabin is yours, including the deck with a barbecue and a side patio. You have access to the front lawn and trails within our 3 acre woodland forest. Ticks and chiggers are abundant. Insect repellant is provided and highly recommended. Although we have never seen any copperhead or eastern rattlesnakes, this is technically their habitat. Please consider protective attire, like hats, long pants, hiking boots, etc. when going into the woods. There are walking sticks for you to use by the front door. Our home is on the property and is visible from the cabin. There are curtains in the cabin for privacy. Ken is a firefighter and trained medic. The cabin is equipped with an emergency radio for stormy weather. If there is a power outage, Fireman Ken will hook up the generator for you. Flashlights are in the cabin for emergency lighting. The root cellar next to the cabin is your tornado shelter.

Other things to note
If you are bringing small children or pets, we can enclose the patio upon request with a gate. Our property is not fenced in at the moment, and the cabin is close to the road. So, if your dog likes to chase cars, walking them on leash is smart.

Our lodge is 600sqft located 30min from NW of Lawrence and 30min NE of Topeka so close to all the events and restaurants in both cities. We are 40min SW of Atchison where you can visit Amelia Earhart Museum and eat at Paolucci's Italian restaurant which has spectacular food and is family owned for over 100yrs.
There are several great places to eat within 3 to 5 miles of us like Lago Vista in Ozawkie and the 4 restaurants in Oskaloosa. Located 20 minutes from downtown Lawrence, the Batch is a sustainable tiny house nestled in the cedar forests of Perry, KS. Decorated in a minimalist southwestern style, this tiny cabin is a serene and peaceful setting for souls seeking restoration, quiet, and the healing qualities of the woods. Or just a great place to getaway with your love or friends with an even greater view!

The space
The Batch is 186sqft, a true tiny house built on an old hay wagon by local carpenter Cody Moore @ KeeneConstructs LLC. Set on 40 acres of beautiful wild woods and fields, cedar forests and ponds, the Batch sits on the edge of an old rock quarry meadow, lending extraordinary views to the West and an abundance of walking trails through varied terrain.
The immediate area surrounding the Batch is completely private, however as the larger 40 acres on which it sits is our family land, we (the Moore family) do enjoy taking advantage of the walking trails every now and again.

NOTE: This is rustic living. NO RUNNING WATER. (Drinking water provided in abundance). Fully outfitted kitchen with porcelain basin for dishes, with outgoing plumbing, but no incoming.

*We do have a minimum age requirement of 25 years of age to book, for liability purposes. This space is for adults only, 18 or older (lap babies welcome); no minors allowed in the booking. The Batch sits on a cliff and as such is not suitable for children for liability reasons - similarly the space is designed specifically with adults only in mind.*

The air conditioner is a window unit powered by a gas generator outside. If you are booking during the Kansas hot season (June-September), depending on the temps and length of stay, you will likely need to be comfortable refilling the generator with gas provided.

The loft is outfitted with a queen bed, and appropriate layers of bedding given the season. *Space is ideal for 1-2 guests, however up to 4 are welcome if you have a love of tents and are open to providing and pitching one in any of the multiple spots in the cedar canopy woods.*

IMPORTANT: It is an “off-grid” experience and the tiny house is on our back 40 acres. Which means that the road to access the Batch is still just a good old country road. however We recently (February 2024) put down millings to enable a closer driving access! Guests are now able to drive all the way up to our designated parking space in front of the tiny house.

*Also Important* Firewood: Please plan to bring your own. We are no longer able to keep up with the high demand of firewood typically used during most bookings* Under NO circumstances do we allow guests to cut down tree limbs or branches (even those which appear dead) from the immediate forest in which the Batch sits. We have had multiple guests disregard this simple request and it has been incredibly discouraging and has given us pause to consider removing our listing from Airbnb. So that we may continue to host, please respect our very simple rules.

Set on 60 acres of pristine wooded forests, ponds, fields, bluffs and and old rock quarry, the Batch allows access to 40 acres of hiking and general nature submersion. Tucked back into a cedar forest on a bluff, the views offered up from the tiny house itself and the surrounding outdoor spaces are excuse enough to batch it up and escape into the peace and quiet awaiting all who seek rejuvenation. A fire-pit with chairs and an assortment of outdoor lights allows for the option of utilizing more than just the 186sqft of the tiny house in good weather, as well as a small grill. Another spot on the bluff with a wooden bench offers up a beautiful view to the West for a good morning coffee lookout as you greet the day!
We do have two dogs of our own (Kemp German Shepard and Mingo Boarder Collie Lab Mix) who are the best natured pups, both free-range country dogs who act as our "Meet&Greet Committee". You may experience one or both of them happily leading you out as you make your way toward the tiny house. They get along with literally everyone under the sun!

Other things to note
The road out to the tiny house cuts across our acreage and is a rough country road filled in with millings. May be muddy in wet weather, but totally passable.

First, we don't charge a cleaning fee...we don't believe in that. You can enjoy a night here for less than you'd spend at Motel 6, ah but they don't have a foosball table, massage chair, decks among huge trees, a walking trail, a fire pit, or a two acre pond full of fish.

The space
Though there are many other bnb's around here, there are none that are like ours. Here, we do the dishes for you. Doesn't seem like it can be true...oh but it is true. Just don't try this at home...it will not work.

During your stay
Basically, you have the entire south end of the home, (almost 600 sq. ft.) decks, private entrance with a keypad, four rooms, a living room, bathroom, study, and master. The study is small but it has a massage chair, a foosball table, and lots of books. The place is decorated as a lake cabin. You have your own thermostat, wifi, AT&TNow for news, sports, and movies, plus a DVD player. We do not have a full kitchen, but we have a Keurig for that most needed drug, a convection microwave, mini-fridge, hot plate, snacks, and all the dishes and utensils you would need to cook with…we’ll take care of the dishes.

The space
This spacious and quiet retreat is perfect for outdoorsmen and sports fans alike. Whether dropping a line in the peaceful lake stocked with catfish and crappie or hitting the links on the nearby 18-hole Village Greens Golf Course, visitors are sure to find their little piece of heaven on a warm, sunny, day. Start your day over a cup of coffee before heading out to fish, hunt, hike, and swim to your heart’s content. This house does have a small porch with 3 steps that you will have to walk up to enter the house.

There are a number of local restaurants to enjoy, including Hightide 21, Mulligans Bar and Grill; Crooked Post Winery; Lago Vista; ;and the American Legion, Post 225 all within minutes of the house. Note, this house does have three steps to enter the front door

Other things to note
There are four smart tv's with twenty five local hd channels and two DVD players. Additionally, a 50 dollar per animal staying pet fee will be added to the cleaning fee if a pet is staying indoors. Pets should not be left unattended while owner is away. Pets should be left in a kennel while guest are away from the property. The number of pets that will be staying should be communicated to host prior to booking for pre approval . No cats, ferrets, birds, snakes or exotic animals are allowed .

House does not have direct lake access but sits only .8 miles away from old town park Ozawkie boat ramp and campground .(3-4 min drive) Additionally, there are three steps to you will have to go up to enter the house.
