At night, have dinner at an outdoor restaurant, grill on the deck, relax with a glass of wine on the porch, roast marshmallows, do a puzzle, or enjoy your favorite streaming on our Roku TV with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and more. The house has one large main room with living and kitchen areas, and two small bedrooms.

The Windy Top Cottage is an old stone building constructed in 1932 by H. L. Bitter, a wealthy Hartford businessman. This area of Granby was a favorite of the Hartford elite for a place to “summer” in the early part of the 20th Century. The cottage was the place where the domestic staff stayed when the family was staying in North Granby. With an elevation of 970, the home once had views of Hartford. Today after lots of trees grew, views are still just a minute away and the cool breezes remain!

Dawn and Ken have refreshed the interior with newly sanded "pumpkin pine" floors and warm, decorator wall tones. There is over 1000 of living space. The bath fixtures are original from the 30s and the huge stone fireplace has propane fired gas logs for cozy winter nights. The large first-floor great room also has a small coffee service, there is NO KITCHEN and we are NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN.

The second-floor bedrooms are spacious and yet very cozy. The home has an English Country House feel with all furnishings provided by Dawn’s painted furniture business: A Girl With A Paintbrush. Flower boxes adorn several windows that overlook an herb and flower garden. The property is accessed by original brick walkways and lead to the private entry door.

Guests will be able to use the entire building with the exception of the garage bays for their private use. A private exterior patio is located out the back door with old patio chairs, benches, and a firepit.

Amenities include freshly laundered soft cotton bedding and towels, bathrobes, hypoallergenic or goose down pillows, cozy sofas, and chairs, comfortable carpeting, and rugs. The linen closet has an ample supply of bar soaps, shampoos, a hair dryer and a first aid box.

The spaces are accessorized with old framed artwork, mirrors, clocks and folk art. We offer a quiet, relaxing experience without TV, with old books, old magazines, and games to enjoy a special time with friends or loved ones. Excellent wireless service to keep tabs on the world if you need to.

The coffee service provides a toaster oven, a French press and a Keurig single cup coffee maker with fresh cream and organic sugar.

Our goal is to greet you and then leave you to enjoy the cottage and all the surrounding amenities and beauty at your leisure. We live in the main house so we are always available by text or cell phone.

The beds are a king sized and a standard full sized. The south bedroom offers an antique double. We provide a complete list of emergency info in the unlikely event that you would need it.

The exterior patio out the rear door is covered by an awning. The firepit makes great campfires for grilling hot dogs and making S'Mores.

Our home can comfortably sleep up to 10 guests in four separate sleeping spaces. We provide linens and plenty of extra pillows and blankets so you can ensure a good night’s sleep.

One of the best parts of a Berkshires getaway is sharing a meal with friends or family, and our contemporary kitchen has everything you’ll need to whip up a gourmet feast.

The sleek stainless steel appliances include a gas stove with a hood, oven, full-size fridge and freezer with a water and ice dispenser, microwave, and dishwasher.

Because we want your mornings to be as enjoyable as possible, we provide a coffee maker and a toaster, plus a blender in case you’re in the mood for a smoothie. We’ve also stocked the cool blue cabinets with cookware, dishes, and glassware.

When it’s time to eat, everybody can pull up a seat at the dining table, which can seat 6 to 8. If the weather’s nice, we also recommend eating outside on the back deck, where you can listen to birds chirping over breakfast.

--LIVING SPACES--
Although outdoor activities like skiing and snowshoeing might bring you to the Berkshires, the cozy times with loved ones by the fireplace will make you want to come back year after year.

In our living room, you can enjoy gorgeous natural light during the day and a relaxing atmosphere in the evening. Kick back and relax on the couch, stream your favorite shows on the smart TV, or just chat with your travel companions over a glass of wine. The gas fireplace is controlled with a switch, so you can be cozy-warm in no time!

In addition to the main living room, there’s a small sitting area in the upstairs loft.

--OUTSIDE--
One of our favorite parts of our cottage isn’t even inside, but outside. Set right off the kitchen and living room is an expansive back deck with a barbecue grill, an outdoor dining table, and adirondack chairs with a gorgeous view of the trees. In the winter, once the trees have lost their leaves, you can also admire lake views from the desk.

Beneath the desk is our spacious, grassy backyard that contains ample space for the kids to run around and play. In the evening, you’ll love winding down by the fire pit, which is perfect for roasting s’mores. Stay out after the sun sets for spectacular views of the starry sky.

--ESSENTIALS--
The entire home is equipped with heat and WiFi, so you’ll always be comfortable and connected. Please note there is AC in the main living space and nearly every room (including both bedrooms) has a ceiling fan, which keeps the house cool during the summer.

We’ve taken care to furnish our cottage with luxurious vinyl floors, stylish barn doors, and thoughtful decor, so we thank you in advance for treating it with respect.

Traveling with little ones? We can provide a portable crib, inflatable toddler bed, baby seat with tray, and a changing pad upon request.

Parking is available in the driveway, which can accommodate a couple of cars.

We used the kitchen a lot and the bar height table works well for meals as well as several great spaces outside. The beds were comfortable and the next morning we made coffee for breakfast in the coffee maker with the coffee grounds provided. Even though the place is historical, the appliances were updated, including having heat pump. The shower area was small, but functional and we quickly got used to it. The kid had fun exploring all the nooks and crannies in the house because the layout is so special. One thing to note for people with mobiity issues. The bedrooms are not on the same floor as the bathroom, so you either have to go down a ladder or up a few steps in the middle of the night. It was not an issue for us though. We loved the place and would recommend it. "

2-bedroom, sun-filled, open floor plan that was recently renovated inside and out. Sits on lovely property with multiple gardens, clearings, and tranquil setting. Read and enjoy the sun on the deck or entertain on the screened-in porch. Enjoy the warmth of large fireplace if cool or have an outdoor shower to refresh. 5 minute walk to West Lake and trails. 5 minute drive to Gedney Farm. 20 minute drive to Great Barrington and a bit longer to Jacobs Pillow and Tanglewood.

- "This lovely house has everything you could possibly need for a cozy Berkshires getaway, and the hosts are amazing. Our second time staying here, and we will be back." - "The most amazing thing happened during our 10-day stay at Doug's cottage: we relaxed. There were no lists and no schedules; we even managed to completely forget a performance at Jacob's Pillow. That never happens with us; friends have said we "take trips, not vacations". I attribute it all to the almost magical nature of Doug's home. The property is immaculately clean and well-maintained, as well as beautifully appointed. Comfortable places inside and outside the house invite you to sit and enjoy the expansive views. We relished the peacefulness of the area, compared to Great Barrington, Lenox, et al. Though Sandisfield is a little farther south and east of where we usually stay, it is still convenient to all attractions. Swimming and kayaking are just a short stroll down the road at gorgeous (and virtually deserted) West Lake. Although the house is not air-conditioned, the cross-ventilation is excellent and there was almost always a breeze. We were there during a heatwave, daytime temps well into the 90's, yet evenings were cool and comfortable. Doug is a kind, thoughtful and generous host. If he ever considers selling his property (and he shouldn't!) I hope he contacts us first."

My husband and I took out the kayaks and went for a beautiful ride on the lake. So peaceful. We ended up driving into Springfield for dinner and the casino which was only 30 min away. Thank you for sharing your home!!" - "Our family enjoyed our time at this rental. We stayed here for two nights. It's a very quaint, clean and nicely decorated cabin. I missed the road entrance initially so know it is the dirt road :) There are 70 steps to walk down to the cabin (and back up to your car) but the view makes up for it. There is a railing to hold on to and a bench about halfway if you need to take a break. It is well stocked with pots/pans/plates/etc. to cook there. There are two air conditioners (master bedroom, living room) and a box fan we used in the 2nd bedroom. The towels are in the master bedroom closet. There are a variety of board games (1st floor) and a wii in the basement/lower level with a nice size TV. There is one bathroom so coordination is important if you have four guests. Check-in and check-out was easy. They sent us an email prior with all the information we needed to check-in/out. They also have a book on the table explaining where to eat, reminder of the wi-fi, restaurants they recommend and other important information which I truly appreciate! We didn't get a chance to check out the kayaks. This is a great location if you plan to attend the Big E--only 25 minutes away. My favorite was enjoying breakfast while overlooking the lake. They have a balcony with a table and chairs too. This truly is a great getaway. Thank you!"

Our middle son graduated this weekend so we cooked , ate , took the boats out and hung out on the deck and played board games. Pure heaven. An escape from reality. The cottage is beautiful. It is quiet here, charming, and laid back. Drift off to sleep with the sound of the waterfall. Venture out to the vegetable and herb garden and forage for tonight's dinner. - "Lovely property, great house. Such a beautiful place to spend a few days. Parts of the house are very old, which give it some charm and quirks. For example, the staircase is very steep and the landings of the steps are shallow. My elderly, but still otherwise mobile, father in law had a. Wry difficult time with them. This was mostly fine because there is a bedroom on the ground floor, but the only shower is upstairs. This wouldn’t stop me from returning to this lovely property, just something to consider depending on the make up of your group. We’ll be back!"

The cabin features an indoor large shower and a private outdoor shower ( especially wonderful at night under the stars and the moon ) and a front-yard fire pit, grill, and a peaceful eating area for al fresco dining under the trees.

The Studio (separate from the cabin):
This airy space has a queen bed, high ceilings, white pine paneling and a flexible open layout, perfect as a private bedroom, living space, or creative gathering area. Outside, enjoy a private deck with patio furniture and solar-powered fairy lights for magical evenings.

5 North Lake is a seasonal cottage situated yards from the shore. The property has panoramic views of the largest recreational body of water in Massachusetts: Otis Reservoir. Great for outdoor activities such as kayaking, fishing, swimming, tubing, boating or just relaxing and watching the sunset from the dock or deck.

The fully equipped kitchen is open to the dining and living room area which has two sliders leading to a spacious deck where you'll find a private hot tub, seating and a grill for cooking. There's also a propane fire pit with Adirondack chairs to enjoy during the cooler evenings. The basement has a family/game room complete with 50" smart T.V., DVD player, an assortment of movies, board games, air hockey, basketball, foosball and darts.

Welcome to Wildwood, a private lake community nestled in the Berkshire woods. Newly renovated two bedroom + bunk room home - Otter Pond just steps away is a spring fed 15 acre pond that is perfect for a swim, fishing, canoeing and paddle boarding. House is fully stocked with everything you need for the perfect lake vacation. Just a short walk down the road leads you to Cranberry Pond with four beaches, all with parking, bathrooms and swim out docks. Explore all that the Berkshires has to offer.

The space
The master bedroom has a queen bed with luxury hotel collection mattress by Serta, WiFi TV and adjacent bathroom with deep soaking tub. The loft has a West Elm queen sleeper sofa. The main floor bedroom has two Pottery Barn Kids twin beds and an adjacent bathroom with shower and full laundry. The lower level bunk room has five twin beds and one queen bed with half bath adjacent. The bunk room also comes equipped with a sectional, recliner, a 60” curved smart TV, a Wii gaming system and a brand new air hockey table.

The home has two decks both with water views. The main sun deck has an extended dining table, Blackstone griddle and five Adirondack chairs, as well as two outdoor umbrellas for shade.

The home comes equipped with three paddle boards and a canoe for use on Otter Pond. On Cranberry Pond, we have a canoe and a peddle boat for your enjoyment.

Wildwood offers tennis, pickle ball, basketball, volleyball, as well as a ball field and a shuffleboard court. Sporting equipment is included with this rental. There are also hiking trails throughout the community and great local hiking close by. Shops, museums, music venues and restaurants are plentiful a short ride away to the Berkshires!

Watercraft may not be brought into Wildwood.
This includes but is not limited to: boats, paddle boards, kayaks & inflatables.

Fishing and / or boating is not allowed from the beach or in swimming areas.

Pets are not allowed.

Smoking is not allowed in our home or on any common property in Wildwood, this includes, but is not limited to: beaches, paths, recreational courts, and clubhouse.

Quiet Time Hours: Sunday – Thursday: 10:00pm - 7:00am
Friday – Saturday: 11:00pm - 9:00am

The speed limit in Wildwood is 15 MPH, and only properly registered and insured vehicles are allowed on our roads and common property.

Parking is allowed in designated parking lots only, and is not allowed along roadsides. All parked vehicles shall have a valid guest pass on the dashboard.
