This 1617 sq. ft. two-story 3 bedroom/2 bath year-round vacation home has a large loft and sleeps 10 comfortably. It is fully equipped and tastefully furnished. The Great Room has floor to ceiling windows, and the log staircase and vertical logs supporting the cathedral ceiling add to the rustic charm of this lovely mountain home. The alluring view draws your eyes outward through quaking aspens and pines, and to the rising mountains that form the Continental Divide to the North.

It was here in 1805 that the Lewis and Clark expedition looked for a passage over the Divide to link the Missouri River to the Columbia River and down to the Pacific Ocean.

Knotty pine tongue and groove walls and ceilings, custom pine plank flooring, slate tiles, and plush wall-to-wall carpet create a cozy and rustic atmosphere in the cabin. The master bedroom with its log bed and full bath is right down the hall. The master bathroom has a bath/shower combination. In the rear of the cabin is a large mudroom, that has a washer and a dryer and a door to the rear deck. The rear deck is very private and looks out over the adjoining Targhee National Forest that rises to the heights of Sawtelle Mountain. To the side of the cabin in the rear is a fire pit, where you can gather to roast marshmallows, share the day's activities and reminisce...

Up the log stairs is a large loft, with a queen size pullout couch and an over-stuffed chair with ottoman. It is a cozy place to talk, read, or watch movies on DVD or satellite TV. There are two upstairs bedrooms; one with a queen bed, and the other with a full size bunk bed and a twin trundle. The upstairs bathroom has a shower. Up a log ladder tucked under apex of the cathedral ceiling is an eagle’s nest loft. Your children will love to play there!

Out front the extensive redwood deck with its log railing looks offers views of aspens and pine trees, which creates a great sense of seclusion. Look forward to casual meals and BBQ's here, as you enjoy the view and the sound of the quaking aspens.

Depending on the season, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, white water rafting, water skiing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, golfing, sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are all available in Island Park and neighboring West Yellowstone. You can literally snowmobile from the cabin onto trails that connect with groomed trails down the road in Henry’s Lake State Park, or into West Yellowstone and further into Idaho. You could also try the groomed trails at Big Springs (drive south on Highway 20 and take a left at Mack's Inn). There are also great opportunities for cross-country skiing - drive south on Highway 20 to Harriman State Park and enjoy the peace and quiet there. Or go to the world-famous RendezVous Ski trails in West Yellowstone and visit during the yearly Ski Festival around Thanksgiving, or take part in the yearly RendezVous Ski Races in March.

Back country skiing can be had right from the house. Ski up the foothills of Sawtelle Peak from the back door!

The fishing in Henry’s Lake and surrounding streams is a trout angler's dream and this area is a world-renowned fishery. The lake is home to the 'Henry's Lake 'Lunker,' a cutthroat-rainbow hybrid that can easily weigh up to 10 pounds. The lake also offers an abundance of brook, rainbow, and native cutthroat trout. The Henry's Fork of the Snake River flows out of the lake and winds its way through Harriman State Park to Ashton. This stretch of clear mountain water is acclaimed by fly-fishing enthusiasts as the 'best trout fishing stream in the U.S.'

Henry's Lake State Park on the southeast corner of the lake encompasses three unique ecosystems including the lake, wetlands and sagebrush steppe. Moose and antelope are a common sight and wildflowers bloom throughout the season. The 3-mile Aspen Loop Nature Trail is open to hikers and bikers.

High Mountain Adventures across from the Island Park Resort off of Highway 20 rents kayaks, canoes, rafts, tubes, 4-wheelers and mountain bikes. Or rent your snowmobile there during the winter. Spend a day on Henry's Lake in kayak or canoe as you enjoy the peace and quiet amidst the mountains of the Continental Divide.

A note about your choices of vehicle and clothing: While this home is very easily accessible from 2 major two-lane highways (87 and 287), remember that you are visiting the Rocky Mountains. The driveway and short gravel access road to the house will be plowed of snow and are graded regularly, but we do recommend choosing a rental car appropriate for the season, weather and terrain in Montana. A 2WD vehicle will be fine most of the time, but 4WD and AWD vehicles are recommended during the snowy season which can begin as early as September all the way through June. Please be sure to check weather forecasts regularly. Weather in the mountains can be very dynamic and change quickly. People joke about experiencing all 4 seasons in one day once in a while. Keep various clothing layers and rain jackets handy while you are enjoying your outdoor activities, so you can always be safe and comfortable.

We provide a beautiful suite in our cabin overlooking Henry's Lake off US 87 in Island Park Idaho. Our cabin is 15 minutes away from West Yellowstone by car and is located 3.5 miles from the US 87/US 20 junction. Easy access to Yellowstone National Park. Excellent fishing, boating and water activities as well as hiking etc. Views of Henry's lake and mountains from our cabin. There is access to the lake down the road from the cabin and boat rentals available nearby. Opportunities to view elk, deer, moose, bears, and other wildlife on the mountainside behind the cabin. We are renting the first floor of our three level house. We prefer Covid Vaccinations for our safety and the safety of our guests.The bedroom in the suite has a queen bed We sleep 2 in the suite. There is a microwave, toaster, coffee pot with coffee, a refrigerator and freezer with ice. There is also a dining room table and chairs, a sofa, and two recliners. We have dishes, silverware, paper plates, and most anything else you may need. There is a wrap around deck with a covered patio and barbecue which is accessible to guests. We book 7 nights only during June - August, Saturday to Saturday. You are welcome to email us if you'd like to request a shorter stay. The $370 property fee cover a refundable $300 security deposit and a $70 Accidental Rental Property Damage Coverage of $3,000.

The home is situated on a 1.24-acre property in a quiet neighborhood of half a dozen homes. It is constructed of 14-inch diameter hand-peeled logs, creating a cozy and rustic lodge atmosphere. The deck offers a 220-degree view of the lake, unobstructed by houses and framed with attractive hand-peeled log railings.

Roxane's favorite thing is sitting on the porch and listening to the water peacefully lap the shore. Gaze upon ponds frequented by wild ducks and geese, and the vast lake beyond. The beautiful mountains of the Grand Tetons are in the distance. Mountains on both sides of the lake frequently are topped with snow in May and October and for the occasional summer storm. This completes a picturesque view of Henry's Lake and the Rocky Mountains making up the continental divide. An outdoor BBQ grill and outdoor seating are provided, where you'll enjoy quality time with friends and family. A 55-inch smart TV installed. We have black-out curtains in every room, updated in 2024.

A 2017 bathroom remodel provides a bathroom for the Elk room. Each of our four bedrooms has its own bathroom and shower. Please see our photo of the floor layout at the end of the photos.

Having the lake off the backyard makes it great for a fishing vacation since it is situated on one of the finest trophy still-water fisheries in North America. Locals catch and release many trout a day using wet fly techniques from a boat or float tube. Waders are helpful for fishing from the shore in May, September, and October. Cool temperatures allow the fish to come closer to shore. Because there are 3 streams feeding into the lake on either side of the home, paddling a float tube back and forth in front of the home at sunrise and sunset can provide a great yield of fish.

Fishing is excellent because Henry's Lake has abundant populations of Cutthroat, Brook, and trophy hybrid Cutbow trout. The largest fish in Henry's Lake are the rainbow/cutthroat hybrids that tip the scales up to 16 pounds. The state record for brook trout weighs in at 7.2 pounds and was caught in Henry’s Lake.

The home has a private marina nearby with a boat launch available for your use. A boat rental company, Wild Rose Ranch, is five minutes away. You can fish the nearby blue ribbon Madison river, Henry's Fork of the Snake River, Hebgen Lake, and Quake Lake within a 30 minute drive or less. Yellowstone Lake is 1.5 hours away, inside the Park, where there are no limits on delicious Lake trout.

You'll enjoy returning to this lovely, quiet log home after a busy day exploring Yellowstone National Park. The large lawn is well maintained and the owner provides sports equipment for outside activities. The back deck has a BBQ grill and outdoor seating. You'll enjoy quality time with friends and family as you gaze upon ponds and the vast lake beyond. Gorgeous views of Henry's Lake and the mountains will encourage you to relax and unwind as you take in the peace and quiet. The lakeside firepit will make beautiful memories on a starry night.

Surrounded by Targhee National Forest, the property is visited by elk, deer, moose, and a red fox. Ducks and geese frequent the property's ponds, while local osprey and bald eagles cruise the shoreline, providing excellent bird watching opportunities. Coyotes and owls can often be heard at night outside the house. The latest hatch of goslings and ducklings are fun to watch as the eat they backyard grass and dandelions in the spring. We have resident muskrat that chases ducks around the ponds. A glimpse of a short tailed weasel can be seen in the spring, controlling the local mouse population.

You will love the custom western decor with its attractive hand-peeled log furniture, dining table, chairs, and rustic aspen beds. The living room has a beautiful new oak floor with three comfortable leather couches with seating for 9, situated around a 55" LCD flat screen TV with satellite service, Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and DVD player with surround sound. The white tail deer on the walls add to the rustic charm. The adjoining kitchen features a large stainless steel refrigerator, a microwave, a gas stove, and dishwasher. It is fully equipped with anything you might need to cook a meal, from a steak dinner to a crock pot meal. We take pride in stocking our kitchen as if it were our own home, always with your comfort in mind.

The large dining room offers magnificent views of Henry's Lake. It features an Amish wagon wheel chandelier with antique lanterns and a 10 person - 3 foot by 7 foot cedar dining room table. You'll enter the Trout Room (the master bedroom) from the dining room. It has a queen size bed and fantastic views of Henry's Lake and the distant mountains. The adjoining bathroom was remodeled in 2017.

The Elk Room has a queen size bed and a view of Saddle Mountain where elk can be seen migrating in the fall, in the early morning hours. Exquisite elk antler light sconces grace this room. A remodel in 2017 provided this bedroom its own bathroom and shower.

The Moose Room has a queen size bed and is located just off the living room under the loft. It has an adjoining full bathroom with a sink, tub and shower.

The log staircase in the living room leads to the Bear Room loft with a queen bed. This room is open to the living room. The adjoining bathroom has a sink, shower and toilet.

In West Yellowstone visit the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, where you can view grizzlies and wolves in a natural habitat. Or visit the IMAX theater with several nature-oriented films offered daily.

In Island Park you'll enjoy visiting Big Springs, which is the major head- water spring for the Henry's Fork River. The Upper and Lower Mesa Falls in Island Park are also well worth a visit. These falls can be enjoyed closer than any others in Yellowstone.

And the best part is that the house is just 14 miles from the gates of Yellowstone National Park!

We offer a spacious 5860 square ft home with four private bedrooms, an open sleeping loft as the 5th bedroom, and three bathrooms for the comfort and convenience of up to 12 guests. All linens are provided for your stay. There is a mini split in the kitchen/dining area as well as one in the primary suite, both providing heat and AC when needed. There are fans in the living room, kitchen/dining area and the two main floor bedrooms. Both the Loft and the main floor bedroom have portable AC units. The downstairs bedrooms stay much cooler in July/August and have floor fans if you need them.

Our open floor plan provides wonderful spaces for families to gather. The large living room, with floor to ceiling windows, is the perfect spot to enjoy the incredible views, watch television, or read and play games. The large kitchen is well stocked and has lots of room for all of the chefs in your group. Enjoy fixing a home cooked meal with family and friends in this well-appointed kitchen or barbecue steaks on the outside grill on the back patio. The dining room seats 8 with additional seating for 4 at the bar. Outdoor dining is encouraged on the expansive wrap around deck.

Drive through the lodge's towering log gate and then immediately soak in the 360 degree waterfront and mountain views. Next, enter the cabin on the 2nd floor which opens to the Great Room and kitchen. The wood burning fireplace towers over two dueling custom American made Bradington & Young distressed leather sofas, the finest hand made rugs, 10-person Restoration Hardware dining set + three barstools at the live edge bar- enough seating for everyone to enjoy meals together. The chef's kitchen has new Miele appliances and is fully outfitted with literally everything you will need to serve a gourmet meal to all of your party. No expense spared. The nearly 30ft tall great room is the main gathering spot and the best room for jaw dropping views. Off the great room is a wide wrap around deck with Adirondack chairs and the first of our two outdoor kitchens.

Continuing upstairs on the 3rd floor is the loft and master suite. The cozy quiet loft is above the fray and is the perfect place to read a book or watch the wildlife on the lake with a massive panoramic view, this is perhaps the most relaxing place in the lodge. Past the loft is the master bedroom suite. Perfect for the small family with child and completely redone to the 9's with all new furniture, art, fixtures, a Tempur-Pedic king size and twin size captains bed all with matching Ralph Lauren bedding , the lodge’s largest suite is it's finest. Including En suite full bath with multiple head shower plus a large desk, charging ports and the fastest speed whole house WiFi available in the area - this suite has everything the vacationing executive will need. The other half of the suite is complimented by two tweed Churchill recliners and a new 43” OLED Fire-TV w/DirectTV. The king size bed is separated with a small partition wall from the twin bed for a little extra privacy, yet still open enough to one another so that parents can hear their little one through the night.

Back down to the main floor are two additional king bed suites with bathroom and additional laundry facilities: the Lodgepole and the Madison.

The Madison Suite has views of both the lake and Continental Divide mountain range, American made Woolrich and Ralph Lauren bedding, king size Tempur-Pedic Cloud, all new furniture and fixtures, bedside charging ports and 42" Streaming TV & DirecTV - easily the lodge's most masculine suite. This suite comes complete with walk in closet, built in vanity, black velvet lounge chair, and New Zealand Shearling rug.

Next, the Lodgepole Suite with views of the Continental Divide. Very much living up to the name, this larger suite is the lodge’s most rustic. Complete with American made Woolrich bedding, wide shearling rug, king size log bed w/Tempur-Pedic Cloud, sitting bench, lounge chair w/blanket, walk in closet with built in vanity and a 42" Streaming TV with DirecTV. This is the room to pick for a 100% authentic Yellowstone experience.

Down the stairs and located on the first floor is the Theater, 6-bed Bunk Room, 3rd bathroom, mud/locker room & extra laundry. The theater has a gas fireplace surrounded by a massive 250 yr old timber mantle, new Karastan carpet, and new furnishings. Decorated with a nod to adventure, science, exploration, and archaeology, the theater has a new immersive 75” OLED smart TV hung above the fireplace, Atmos surround sound system, DirecTV DVR with nearly every channel, and a new wireless retro arcade console with all your favorite games from the 80’s, 90's, 00's. Perhaps on those bad weather days the kids will not be the only ones playing video games!

Located behind the theater on the ground floor is the Yellowstone Bunk Room with a meadow view and 6 custom heavy and safe private bunks with built in individual charging ports/lighting - the perfect place to sleep the kids or extra adults. Featuring premium mattresses and custom lighting, no expense was spared on any detail. Warm Pendleton Woolen Mills Yellowstone Camp Blankets, fleece layers, & themed pillows adorn each bed, vintage metal and wood Yellowstone signs, and a giant Yellowstone Junior Ranger Fire Brigade themed locker room/dressing room-you won't feel like you ever even left the park. For our favorite part of the lodge though, look outside under the four giant shade sails and find the main attraction - the lakefront promenade. With a massive fire pit/bbq/lounge area and boardwalk/bonus deck, it's the largest outdoor area on Henrys Lake with steps that go right down to the water and a private beach. Kayaks, canoes, fishing gear, chopped firewood, and outdoor blankets/pillows/towels provided! 2nd outdoor kitchen with 2 XL grill beds, 2 stovetop burners, extra searing grill, lighting, mini fridge and prep table, Kamado Egg charcoal smoker/grill, duel 2-person hammocks & duel 150lb cast iron fire-pit pagodas surrounded by tons of adirondack chairs framed against 360 postcard views...you start to understand why the property is categorically superior to all others.

The fenced property bordered by mature trees is professionally manicured with lighting and is complimented by a long completely paved driveway to the highway (rare - no miles long gravel roads to get to OUR property), plus a sports court with new basketball goal. The entire view behind the cabin is the slopes and granite ridges of our section of the Continental Divide shelf. To the front of the cabin is the Centennial range and visible east are the Yellowstone and Teton National Park ranges. No other homes in the Yellowstone area have a view of all these mountain ranges except a small handful on our rare section of the north shore. As they say, location-location-location. Our families decided to plan a trip out West but were a bit late in finding lodging inside the park, and with multiple families traveling together we decided it would be more fun to stay in a home verse separate hotel rooms. When we came across LOR on VRBO, we were sold flipping through the photos of the lake views and outdoor equipment galore. As soon as we booked the home, Sarah offered to have video calls with us and made suggestions for various excursions while were were in the area. We spent 4 nights at LOR. We found the home very clean and comfortable. Sarah keeps the kitchen stocked with all of the spices, oils so we had gourmet meals cooked on the outside grill each night. When we arrived the kids ran down to the water and we immediately took off on the kayaks and canoes. The boys enjoyed fishing - but were unlucky finding any fish, but still had fun. The house faces a gorgeous mountain range and you can spot the Tetons off to the left. We spent the next 2 days in Yellowstone. It is a breathtaking easy 20 minute drive to the entrance. With her recommendation we got in early to beat the crowds and spotted lots of wildlife. We left the park each day around 3/4pm and then looked forward to lounging at LOR. The only down side was the swarms of bugs, but I think that we just hit a bad week mid June as they got better the last day. The kids loved the bunk room too!"
