Guest Reviews:

- "I had the chance to vacation in the Pacific Northwest and decided to spend some of my time in Kingston given it's proximity to Seattle and activities on the Olympic Peninsula. This home is lovely! Upon arriving we realized how secluded it feels though it's located within walking distance to the ferry and downtown. The house is clean, bright and clearly well cared for by the owner. The highlight of my trip was watching my daughter play on the beach and search for sea shells. Second to that would be enjoying the stunning, unobstructed view of the water both from within the house and on the deck. We found it fascinating to watch the tide change throughout the day and evening and see all the activity on the water (paddle boards, sailboats, wildlife, etc.). What's more, this unobstructed view didn't seem to give up any privacy. The amenities are wonderful in this home. I found the beds/bedding to be very nice and everything I needed to make myself comfortable was provided to me. There's a huge TV in the main living area with all the VOD and cable channels we are accustomed to having and we didn't find ourselves wishing for anything that wasn't already there. I can't wait to find myself in Kingston once again so I can stay here longer. A big thank you to the owner for providing a quality VRBO listing that is true to it's description!"

Charming Waterfront Home with Gorgeous View
House
Kingston, Washington, USA

You will think you’re in Italy! This beautiful Mediterranean-style waterfront home and guesthouse with gorgeous 180-degree water views offer you a tranquil retreat on the Kitsap Peninsula -- only one hour from Seattle but a world away from noise and stress. We are located ten minutes from the Kingston-Edmonds ferry on Gamble Bay, near Hood Canal and Port Gamble, just 20 minutes from Poulsbo.

Relax on the large front lawn and watch the eagles and osprey soaring overhead. Listen for the cry of the blue heron, admire the deer that wander through the yard, watch the fish leaping in the bay. The house sits on 1 3/4 acres and is very private and quiet - the houses on either side can't be seen. It overlooks a sheltered inlet on Puget Sound that is great for beach-combing and kayaking. A gas grill and a picnic table make outdoor dining easy. Later you can watch the sun set on the bay and use the firepit to make s’mores. At night, go outside and wonder at the stars – far more than you’ll ever see in the city. Watch a DVD on our 32' flatscreen, read a book by the fire, or listen to music from our CD collection.

Built in 1949 by a master craftsman, the house is completely modernized but retains its original charm with lovely hardwood floors, beautiful architectural lines and exquisite stone masonry. The fully-equipped kitchen includes a range, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, two waffle irons and fine culinary tools (I love to cook!) The master bedroom has a king bed, a private bath with walk-in shower, and French doors that open onto a sunny terazzo terrace. Carpeted stairs lead to a mezzanine above the living room which has a king bed and double bed with a shared closet between. This is a loft which overlooks the living room, so it’s not completely private, but there are floor-length blinds that can be pulled down for privacy. A full bath with bathtub is at the foot of the stairs. The living room features a vaulted ceiling which gives an open feeling, and has a sofa that makes into a queen bed. Two dining room tables easily seat 12. A guesthouse is across the driveway from the main house and is included in the rental. It has a queen bed and a queen sofa bed, and 1 bathroom.

Curl up with a good book in the sunny corner window. Play one of our many board games. Or just be still and appreciate the amazing silence. The charming guesthouse has a queen bed, a sofa that makes into a queen bed, and a private bath with shower, making it a perfect separate space for members of your group.

There are lovely walks and hikes right from our front door. A large grocery store is six minutes away. Twenty minutes brings you to the charming Scandinavian town of Poulsbo, forty minutes to historic Port Townsend with its antique galleries and fabulous restaurants, and seventy minutes to Port Angeles where you will find quick ferry access to Victoria, Canada, plus incredible mountain scenery at Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Forest. Nearby Bainbridge Island offers excellent golf, restaurants, galleries, and cultural events year-round. A notebook with extensive recommendations for day trips, events, local restaurants and fun excursions is on the table when you arrive.

This is a perfect place for a quiet retreat, a family gathering, or a romantic second honeymoon. Our level entry and master bedroom/bath with walk in shower on the ground floor make it very accessible. Summers are truly beautiful here and last well into October. Puget Sound winters are generally mild (although somewhat damp) but the misty days are perfect for catching up on your reading or finally writing that novel.

Come experience the most relaxing getaway you have ever had. You will feel the calm energy as soon as you arrive.

Guest Reviews:

- "Great location; close in, but feels far away. Well stocked home. Owner very responsive to contacts. Not a good swimming beach, but great paddle board and kayaking. Big back yard." - "We had 8 family members stay here for a local wedding. Property was as described and wonderful. Lovely view, private setting and comfortable beds. Communication with owner was excellent and she was very gracious in every way. I highly recommend." - "The view, the lawn and the patios get 5+ stars! The home was the perfect size for our family and we enjoyed our stay. We made sure the little ones stayed downstairs because the loft railing is more decorative than safe for toddlers. Also the beach is only accessible when tide is out and getting to the beach is a little challenging with the overgrowth on the 5 flights of stairs. However, overall, we had a great stay!"

Guest Reviews:

- "The stay was perfect with a peaceful and beautiful outdoor surrounding. We had a great experience and the overall the location was very convenient to the ferry station along and the picturesque town of Port Gamble. Very spacious indoor and outdoor space with great accommodations." - "The deck and gardens are gorgeous and the owners are clearly great gardeners! It was a beautiful location and close to family and friends in Kingston and Poulsbo. Hosts were very gracious, and when we crossed paths they asked if we needed anything. They are right next door but property was very private. It's great that they installed a water filter in the kitchen sink. I would say that was the only complaint was showering in the sulfer smelling water so only recommendation would be a water filter system. Everything else was perfect and pictures accurately reflect the property, bedrooms and kitchen areas."

Guest Reviews:

- "My sister and her family stayed here on their first visit to the PNW. The twilight hour outside was magic- pink hues and perfect views of the moon over the water. Our family also rented the house next door, which provided privacy, but easy access to join together across the fence. Thanks for providing a comfortable and beautiful space to showcase a special area of the world." - "We stayed at this property for a family vacation. It was perfect! The house was clean. It is a smaller house, but was perfect for our family of 4. The beds were VERY comfortable. There were plenty of quality warm blankets (which was nice for me being a cold sleeper). The water pressure in the shower was strong. The house sits next to the water and our boys had a lot of fun gathering rocks, shells, sticks, and seaweed. The location is perfect-walking distance to the ferry and restaurants. We had a wonderful time and would consider bringing friends and renting the house next door which is owned by the same person. She was easy to get a hold of and was able to provide suggestions for things not to miss in the town."

36 min drive to Bremerton and Bainbridge Ferry Terminal

☀ Let us know if you're unfamiliar with Seattle's ferry system and we'll help you map out your journey step by step.

Getting Around:
Salish Escape is located 12 minutes outside of the Kingston Ferry Terminal. There are a few ways to get to the house. The first and fastest is taking the Kingston Fast Ferry via Kitsap Transportation. The ride takes 40 minutes and service runs Mon-Fri 5:45 AM to 6:45 PM. It's a very pleasant ride. Then you would need a taxi service from Kingston Terminal to the House. We can set this service up for you.

The second option is taking the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge either with or without your vehicle. This ferry takes 35 minutes and then the home is located about 45 minutes from the Bainbridge Ferry terminal. We can also set up a car service to here. The ferry runs every day 6 AM to Midnight.

Other Things to Note:
OTHER NOTES ABOUT THE HOME
☀ Privacy... Please note that we do have one neighbor on the Northside of the property that frequents their property as well as neighbors to the South. They will respect your privacy and we also ask that you do the same for them (be mindful of using drones, playing loud music, etc...)
☀Steep Cliff Drop Off ...The property fronts the massive Puget Sound and there is a large cliff that exists on the property, beyond the 3 foot high fence in the backyard. However, the fence only encloses the backyard and there would be unobstructed access to the cliff by walking out of the front door and around the house to the back yard.

The space
Enjoy your own private Guest Suite tucked at the far end of a five acre forest/garden sanctuary, 20 minutes from Bainbridge Island or charming Poulsbo, ten minutes from historic Port Gamble & the Hood Canal Bridge. Start your travels with an relaxing ferry ride over the Puget Sound from Edmonds. Peaceful forest setting, second story deck, wood-burning stove, lush, nationally renowned gardens and full privacy await you. The Olympic National Forest, Port Townsend, Port Angeles and Sequim's lovely lavender fields are only 45-60-min away.

After a day of taking in nearby restaurants, antique shops, hiking & biking local trails, kayaking on the Hood Canal, or ferrying over from Edmonds (30 min) – come on "home" to your own private wooded retreat! A light-filled spacious, comfy deluxe Suite awaits you, with all the amenities you'd expect in a woodsy retreat.

Your Guest Suite/Apt is completely private, fully self-contained. It is situated in a separate building some 500 feet from the main house, connected by wooded trails. You’ll have your own patio, and the use of the studio + full bathroom, situated on the second story above a separate garage outbuilding. Your hosts will be in the main house at the entrance to the property, available but completely separate from your experience. Guests are welcome to wander the grounds and enjoy the gardens, including the use of a covered, outdoor seating area. Plenty of parking on the grounds.

The main sleeping area/bedroom features a plush, unique, hand-built queen bed with soft down bedding, a sofa (we can supply added linens if a guest wishes to sleep on it), an electric “wood stove” to use if you choose and a small kitchenette. You’ll have use of an electric skillet, kettle, microwave, toaster oven, refrigerator and coffee maker (no stovetop at this time). Step out to your deck and enjoy lush forest views.

We have reliable DSL wifi in the studio and though the television is not cable-ready there is a digital antenna that picks up some local channels, and a blu-ray DVD player with a moderate movie library. As well, the smart tv will pick up Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc).

You will find a GUEST HANDBOOK when you arrive with all the specifics you may need to know during your stay. You will also find plenty of local travel guides/maps and a THINGS TO DO binder with recommendations for the immediate area and larger region.
We’ll have contact information for you in case you need us at any time.

You'll enjoy little Poulsbo, a Scandinavian fishing village in the late 1800's and today is known as "Little Norway." Poulsbo's historic district features lots of yummy restaurants (don't miss Sluys Danish bakery or the organic ice cream treats at Mora) shops, antique stores and galleries.

Just over Agate Pass Bridge you'll find the popular destination of Bainbridge Island (20 min). Shop and eat there, or tour the local galleries and fabulous new art museum. Kid's museum too! Or let the Bainbridge Ferry whisk you across the Puget Sound to downtown Seattle (25 min) and wander through Pike Place Market, historic Pioneer Square, the museums and more.

For the outdoors-inclined - there are countless nature walks, hiking trails, creeks, beaches and waterways to enjoy in the region on Puget Sound and Hood Canal - a favorite for kayakers. Gig Harbor, Bremerton, Port Gamble are also favorite local destinations.
The region is expansive - and you will definitely need your own car. Please anticipate approximately 60-90 min of travel time from Seattle Airport, including a 20-min drive from airport to ferry, 35-min ferry ride via either the downtown Seattle-Bainbridge route, or Edmonds Ferry to Kingston and then 10-min to the house. *Note travel time during "rush hour" may be longer. You can also take the slightly longer land route, heading south from the airport, forking left from Interstate Hwy 5 near Tacoma, heading north on Hwy 16 to the Kitsap Peninsula (1.5 hours). I can provide more specific driving/ferry directions. GPS is very helpful, though the turnoff to our drive can be easy to miss.

Just a few things...
- We are a "pet friendly" place (See caveats below): While we clean thoroughly between guests, if you have allergies to dogs and/or cats, this might not be the best space for you.
~ We appreciate knowing in advance your approximate arrival time.
~ As mentioned, there is a sink/skillet/microwave/toaster oven/refrigerator/coffee maker etc, perfect for light cooking, deli and takeout, etc - but please do note there is not a full kitchen. Plenty of great local restaurants and nearby take-out for your major meals!
~ Traveling via car by ferry? Do allow yourself enough time to catch your selected ferry. Check the Washington State Ferry website the day before or day of travel to be sure about departure/arrival times. NOTE: From May to September ferry wait times on Friday evening can be quite long! Double check with the WSF site to be certain.

Thank you!

Guest access
Guests may explore the gardens on the property, though we ask that you check with us if you wish to explore the garden very close to the main house. For the most part it’s no problem at all if we know ahead of time!

Other things to note
We love dogs, and we love dog lovers! That being said, we do ask a few things if they are tagging along with you:

Dogs must please remain on leash unless there are special circumstances (usually if they are only up at the site it's okay to let them move around if they are compliant. But if exploring the wider property, please leash them) .

We ask that guests don't leave dogs free in the space if they are headed out and about (either bring them with you or crate them--We've had unexpectedly anxious pooches make their stress known = costly repairs).

If we know that you are bringing a pooch, we will leave an additional sheet in the space. We'd ask that you cover the sofa if your dog happens to be a couch surfer to help us maintain the life of our furniture!

As well, we ask guests to clean up after their furry friends and deposit baggies in the garbage can beneath the deck.

Nestle Inn on Gamble Bay!
House
Puget Sound

Unique, cozy studio suite located at the south end of Gamble Bay. Private entrance: follow the mosaic path to the exterior stairway.
This is a 1963 mid century home located on the water in Washington.
The suite has new windows and doors and a dehumidifier. If you are uncomfortable with any hint of musty-ness, please do not book with me. I have only had one client of many who mentioned it.
If there is anything I can do to make you more comfortable - ask! If I can accommodate you - I will!

The space
The south end of Gamble Bay
is very rural and our driveway off the main road brings you through a wooded forest, to the open space at the base of the drive. You will see the water as you get into the clearing there.
The tide changes from low to high about every 12 hours. Some tides are at extremes of low - or high depending on the time of year.
It is very quiet here. Most activity going by is from wildlife or Kayakers!
(If you have your own boat and gear bring it!)

The room is very comfortable and has a bit of a Hemingway or even “out of Africa” feeling. Warm colors, layered quilts and a charming oriental rug.
The bed has a very cushy pillow topper on it, which lets you sink in.
Prepare to breathe deep and unwind.
It will be a very sweet experience.

Guest access
This is private property with beach access. There is a permanent tenant in the cabin which you will drive by coming to the house at the bottom of the driveway. Park to the far right in the parking area in front of the carved bear plaque on a post.
You will see the mosaic path on the far side of the house. (North)
If you come at night be sure to bring a flash light!

Just to add - arriving before dark is a good idea! It is very rural and not much light at night. The stairs to your room are illuminated and on a timer!

We can text about where the key is when you are on your way!

Please text me with any questions on my private cell phone number during your stay. Texting is best - a call to me from an unknown source will just go through to voicemail. I am extremely responsive to texts!

Other things to note
Please do NOT use the boat ramp to the north of the lawn. It belongs to a neighbor. Use the step to the beach on the south side of the lawn. There are two posts that mark that spot!
At some times of the year the lawn is saturated with water and can be muddy. Best to exit your room and go to the left. Then you can wrap back around to the the chairs at the fire pit. (Also, those chairs can always be moved)

While there is an outdoor fire place please ask permission to use it. We have lots of trees here and quite often a burn ban!
While there is a wood stove in the room it should only be used for power outages - emergency use. Smoke travels into my dwelling upstairs and is very off putting for me. Burn bans include use of wood stoves.

The space

The sun room is lightly insulated and colder during the winter months when there is not as much sun to heat it. Two portable heaters are provided for you to heat the sun room while you are there.

Unfortunately due to the cleaning schedule, early check in is not typically available when previous guests have checked out on the same day.

Other things to note
The sun room relies on the sunlight of longer, warmer days for maintaining a comfortable temperature. During the winter, there are portable heater available for you to use to heat that area. Please use caution with the space heaters and always unplug the heaters when you leave the cottage or are not using them.

harvesting outside of sizing perimeters.

• Health Advisories: Always check for biotoxin advisories and beach closures before
harvesting (website provided after booking)

Equipment & Preparation
What to Bring:
• Harvesting Tools: Clam shovel, oyster knife, or hand rake.
• Cleaning Tools: A seafood cleaning tool like the Toadfish Shrimp Cleaning Tool can be

How to get to Kingston:

The Seattle to Kingston walk-on fast ferry, through Kitsap Transit, is available from the downtown Seattle ferry terminal and goes directly to Kingston, about 35-40 minute sailing. On Saturdays during the summer (through September 27, 2025), the Saturday fast ferry runs all day, and the last sailing from Seattle is 11:20 pm. The other days of the week besides Sunday are commuter hours, with last sailing departing Seattle at 6:45 pm. The fast ferry does not run on Sundays. You can find the current schedule the Kitsap Transit website, selecting the Fast Ferry information.

If you are bringing your car, there are 3 options to get to Kingston from the Seattle side:

1. Edmonds-Kingston ferry

2. Seattle-Bainbridge ferry and drive up to Kingston, about 25-30 minutes.

3. Drive from Seattle around through Tacoma, about 1 hr 45 minutes.

We recommend downloading the Ferry Friend app, which makes it easy to see when the sailings are in either direction, and usually has an up-to-date status on spots available and if there is a wait.

Please message us if you have any questions about the best route options for your trip!
