- "This house was exactly as described and more! It was beautifully appointed with everything you would want or ever need. The hot tub and the fire pit where perfect for hanging outside but if you want to be inside the loft was an amazing space with a record player to enjoy music or TV on the wonderfully comfortable couches. The community around the house was a lot of fun to explore with a great restaurant and food truck not far away. This home simply had everything we could asked for. So much so that we played the lottery so that we might not ever have to leave lol We will certainly be back again!"

- "Our week-long summer extended family vacation at this home was fantastic. The house is lovely, with the size and amenities fit for our large multifamily group. The tennis court (lighted!) and pool (heated!) are spectacular. The views from within the house and throughout the property are breathtaking. The house is tucked in the mountainous woods with unending privacy. There house also supplies so many small items that prove quite useful - countless pool toys/floatables, sporting goods, etc. Lastly, Dmitry is a wonderful host and was extremely responsive ahead of and during our stay. I sent him a few knick-knack type items that needed addressing during or for after our stay, and he was on top of these. All in all, an amazing stay at an amazing home."

Guest Reviews:

- "cute, clean and small. I loved the design and local artwork throughout the cabin. Also, I finally had a place to enjoy a campfire in the firepit! There was a stack of firewood to use, along with kindling, ready to go." - "We loved everything about this house. Great location near the mountain. Tons of places to sleep. 10/10!!" - "Great little place. 15 mins from Mt. Snow, I would recommend a AWD or 4WD vehicle for winter. Steep roads to get here, but worth the drive. VACASA is difficult at best to get in touch with. I emailed and texted through the app and even got in touch with customer service, never got a response from VACASA. That being said, they did send me everything I needed in the email, we just had a question about the lock and never heard back. Still, you can see from my review that it is a great place."

Guest Reviews:

- "It was wonderful on all accounts - nature, river, decor, easy to come/go, comfy, kitchen, location, kayaks, hammock, etc." - "This little place is a sweet, home away from home gem. The owner was a pleasure to deal with. Communication was absolutely just right. We walked in the front door, kicked off our shoes, and left stress locked right out. The house had everything we needed. The updated kitchen and bathroom were spotless. We enjoyed making dinner on the propane grill on the deck. Out the back door we walked down the soft moss lawn straight to the river. There were chairs and a hammock for relaxing in the sunshine. A fire pit and plenty of wood were available. The little screen room by the water is an enchanting space. If we'd had more time and a bit of camping gear we'd have slept out there to be near the water. The river was not deep but it was very cold. We got in anyway. The current could be strong. Life jackets and a little kayak were provided! I recommend scout style talking water safety and hypothermia to older kids and adults, making smaller children wear life jackets, and keeping the life jackets to hand just in the unlikely case an adult falls or is otherwise unable to get back to shore. This place was a relaxing delight. Two adult couples could squeeze in. An intrepid 3rd couple could sleep on mats or, with a bit of camping gear, in the screen room. The 2nd bedroom would also suit kids. I cannot say enough good things about our host, this location, or our stay. I look forward to coming back. Thank you!"

- "We had such a lovely stay here! Matthew was extremely responsive and helpful throughout both the stay and booking process. We decided last minute to head to Stratton for a ski weekend and we were so happy when we came across Matthew’s place. It was absolutely perfect. We got extremely lucky with some fresh snow and enjoying our coffee looking out the window at the absolutely gorgeous surroundings was perfect. The location is private and peaceful and close distance to many bars and restaurants. Kitchen is also fully equipped and we enjoyed making some meals without needing to leave. Although we went for a ski weekend, I can easily see ourselves enjoying this spot year round as there’s a beautiful running stream, hammock and Adirondack chairs to hang out outside. The house itself was in pristine condition, updated but still very cozy. Honestly, just a great time and look forward to visiting again soon!"

Artist's Own Luxury Residence Newfane Vermont - Stunning Views 25 Acres
Villa
Newfane, Vermont, USA

With half a mile of river frontage at the foot of our property, Adams Hill House has some of the most beautiful foliage anywhere in the North East. I personally have traveled the entire state during foliage season, only to come home and find the best foliage right outside the window.

While you may be longing for Italy or the South of France, you can have your cake and eat it too. Adams HIll House gives you an old world feel and elegance, but you don't have to take the time to travel. Look no further than this estate in Southern Vermont. In the time it would take you to board a plane, you can be here in beautiful South Newfane!

This magical, very private luxury home is secluded, yet located close to everything Southern Vermont has to offer: hiking, swimming, skiing, kayaking, bike trails, music, art galleries and restaurants.

f you love to cook, the organic farms and well supplied grocery stores and French gourmet stove will entrance you. There are herbs growing in the kitchen garden.

Architecturally stunning Southern European style, artistically crafted using reclaimed architectural elements and wood and stone taken from the property, Adams Hill House is decorated in an eclectic, timeless style, as you can see from the photos. Furnished with custom made, modern and antique furnishings, a large contemporary art collection and oriental rugs, the interior of the house is a visual feast. Outside, several terraces and decks provide many spots to sit and read or just take in the view.

The house has exceptional light, views and privacy, suitable for a family, group of friends or colleagues who wish an exclusive retreat without crowds. The drive to the property can be gated if the guests require extra security. With long West (sunset) and sunny South views, you are surrounded by nature and can enjoy the ever-changing clouds and weather.

The first and second floors of the house comprise 5,500 square feet/five hundred square meters. The upper floor has 2 master bedroom suites with sitting areas and two smaller “family” bedrooms, each with a queen or king bed. Each bedroom has its own en-suite luxury marble bath or half bath - a 4 or 6 piece bath adjoining the two master suites, and a half bath dedicated to each family bedroom.

The entry-level main floor is comprised of a suite of flowing, open rooms - a gracious 30’ entryway full of art, a huge gourmet kitchen filled with light with table space for 10 to enjoy breakfast together or prepare a meal as a group. The cooking arrangements include a wide range of gourmet cookware, a La Canche French professional stove, two prep sinks and two dishwashers. There is a fireplace in the kitchen, which makes winter nights a joy.

In summer, dine outside on the pergola and watch the sunset, or sit in the shaded back yard off the kitchen to beat the heat.

The formal dining room is connected to the kitchen and the two large living rooms. It has a small terrace outside French doors where the hot tub invites you to watch the sunset or enjoy a starry night.

The living rooms consist of a 32’ west facing sitting room with several sofas and chairs and the large TV. The sunsets from this room are spectacular.

The adjoining interior living room has a magnificent stone fireplace, huge coffee table for playing games or putting together a puzzle and 28’ ceilings, open to the 2nd floor balcony-art gallery-hallway above.

The house is situated on twenty-five private acres with a view to the ridge 4 miles beyond. Nearby neighbors - a quarter mile away - are completely screened by trees. Many days, you feel that you are alone in the world! Birdsong and the wind in the trees are your constant companions.

The entire estate has a timeless quality that usually comes only from generations of family and many renovations. The property borders a twenty-foot wide, crystal clear river for half a mile, which you can hear from most rooms until hard-freeze in winter. There is a swimmable pool area under one of the two waterfalls, directly below the house.

As with old-world estates, a family member generally lives in a caretaker's apartment on the ground floor, providing you with property management in the style of 5-star hotels and luxury properties around the world. Your privacy and peaceful enjoyment of the estate is our paramount concern.

Charming, casually elegant, secluded and private, yet 'the world is only a short drive away - private airport, skiing, restaurants and shopping. With our practice of composting, recycling and use of careful, ecologically sound cleaning products, go back in time and enjoy a pristine environment here on the property for your family's health. You will have a wonderful, relaxing vacation, surrounded by nature.

Staying at Adams Hill House provides an experience very similar to country estate properties in the UK and Europe.

We hope to see you soon.

Guest Reviews:

- "Great spot. The house was beautiful and we made full use of the professional kitchen, hot tub and two available fireplaces. Kids loved their rooms and the spaciousness with which to spread out after skiing. Host (Nancy) was great and had really good communication. We would definitely stay there again! Thank you!" - "We absolutely loved our stay. This house is a gem and made me feel like I was in Tuscany or the south of France again. Large arched doorways, strong French doors, beautiful tile that is pleasant to walk on, soft water, amazing bathtubs with excellent water pressure, very comfortable seating areas, a stove and kitchen that makes serious moments out of family meals.. just Fabulous! The surroundings are idyllic and you can’t lose with that fresh Vermont air up in the mountains - AC is barely needed when you’re able to get so much breeze and most of the windows can be opened with a screen. My favorite times were early morning during the summer for cool breeze while in bed or lounging around the house, followed by a nice breakfast under the pergola; as well as watching the sunset while in the hot tub or under the pergola. The view, smells, and sounds are spectacular. - "This cabin is so so cozy and clean and we absolutely loved everything about it! The interior decoration is well done - adorable simply inviting! The kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked and thoughtfully appointed with every necessary amenity. You have to think of nothing but enjoying yourself. Tommy, the host, was great to work with. He is easily reachable and answered any questions we had. We would definitely be staying here again!" - "Exactly as advertised, clean and up to date cabin right on the river in a quiet neighborhood. My husband and I stayed with our dog for the weekend. Check in was easy as promised, there was firewood on the back deck for purchase (though we grabbed our own on the way up). The fireplace definitely kept us warm and almost overly toasty. (Which is not remotely a bad thing) The host had clearly thought of everything when it came to amenities down to the stocked Keurig station and ear plugs in case your partner snores. Our dog enjoyed his stay as well. There was an easy walking trail nearby, and dinner at the Fat Crow had us and the local friends we made wishing we could come by more often. The host was communicative and accommodating throughout our stay. Hopefully we'll be back soon!"

Guest Reviews:

- "We booked this last minute for a short ski weekend. The house was located about 44 minutes from Mt. Snow. It was very spacious and cozy, and the rooms were comfortable with plenty of space. We thought the internet worked well. We had a very warm weekend from a weather standpoint, but if there would have been a new snowfall, it would have been a bit tough to get to the house. I think it would be difficult to book well in advance and not know the weather. The communication between the owner was exceptional! Overall, we loved the place and would consider staying again, if the weather allowed."

- "One of my favorite places in the world. Truly is magical " - "Wow. What an escape. If you’re looking for a break away from the grind, this is it. Gene, the owner, has done an amazing job of transforming a beautiful portion of his land into a warm and tranquil refuge. It is truly a special place. The cottage had everything we could have needed for our stay. Full kitchen, laundry, toiletries, cookware, and the grill on the deck was great! Wifi was fast and reliable. The place was extremely clean and stocked with modern appliances. Beds were nice and cozy. We slept like babies to the sound of the brook right outside. Honestly, we wish we could keep this place a secret. Anytime we return to Vermont, we’ll be staying here for sure. Don’t miss the deer who frequently poke around the property. And, do yourself a favor - bring home a bottle of Gene’s well water (straight from the tap). You’ll miss it once you’re gone…"

New Lovely Vermont Retreat with a Hot Tub, Close to Rock River & Skiing.
House
Newfane, Vermont, USA

Built in 1786, this lovely Dutch Colonial home sits in the quiet hamlet of Williamsville in Newfane, and across the street from Rock River. Original flooring and a pellet stove contrast well with modern amenities: fast internet, a hot tub, pool table, and smart TVs. Five bedrooms sleep up to 8 adults, or up to 10 for groups with children.

If you would like the classic tiny Vermont town experience while also only being 20 minutes to Mt Snow and Brattleboro, this home is the one for your group.

The Space

The home has five bedrooms, four on the second floor and one on the first floor, with two full bathrooms and one half bathroom. The master is en-suite with a soaking tub, and three of the bedrooms have TVs. We provide fresh clean linens and towels for every group.

On the main floor is the kitchen, which has a large central island which doubles as a food prep area as well as a breakfast table. Great appliances, fully stocked with plates, cups, silverware, cookware, pots and pans, and more, so your group’s chef will have everything they need to prepare those meals! The dining room is in a separate room off the kitchen, with a table that seats up to 6.

Next to the kitchen is an entertainment area, with a large smart TV, a piano, and comfortable seating. On the other side of the kitchen is a large sitting room with more comfortable seating, and a wood pellet stove which provides an incredible ambiance and gentle heat for the home (we provide the pellets, and have central heating as well).

Across from the sitting room is the game room, with a pool table and TV, great for watching the game while shooting a round and catching up with friends and family.

The second floor is primarily living space, with four of the five bedrooms and the two full bathrooms. Each room has plenty of windows that overlook the hamlet, back yard, or side yards, depending.

Outside on the back deck is the hot tub, professionally maintained before each stay, and a gas BBQ, we provide the propane. Next to the deck is a goldfish pond, complete with a waterfall to aerate the water, and provides a gentle noise to melt the stress away. A covered wrap-around deck has a wood swing and plenty of seating so you can sit and watch the town go about its day.

The back and side yards are professionally landscaped, providing a nature oasis to help you decompress while on vacation. An old barn, where we keep the firewood and wood pellets, and a firepit in the back yard completes the scene.

The history of the home is also quite interesting, we are currently doing research to see if it can be added to the historical register. We do know that the home was built in 1786 and originally manufactured carriages, one of which is in the Smithsonian today!

The Perfect Day
Whether you are booking for cold weather or warm weather, this home is well situated for your group. Wake up with a warm cup of coffee or tea, and step onto the front porch to watch as the rest of the town starts their day, the river on the other side of the street providing an additional accompaniment.

For winter guests, after a nice breakfast, it is time to head to the slopes of Mount Snow for a day of fun. When the crew gets hungry for lunch, there are places in Dover to eat and shop, or you could take a little drive to Wilmington, another great Vermont town that has restaurants and shopping as well. Then it is time for part two on the slopes before heading back to the house for dinner, a soak in the hot tub, and if you are fortunate, there may be some snow showers for you to watch as the hot water relaxes the muscles. Wind down the rest of the day with a glass of your favorite beverage as you catch up with some friends and family, shooting pool or sitting in front of the wood pellet stove, the musician in the group playing a tune on the piano.

For warm weather and autumn guests you will have access to the river across the street, a great place to explore. Vermont is incredible in the warm weather, there is golfing, fishing, hiking, agrotourism, art festivals, and more, all of which can be found on Vermont’s tourism websites, or please ask and we can help as well. The yards on the property have plenty of grass for games, and the firepit is especially nice in the cooler Vermont evenings.

Of course, no matter the season, if you want to have a nice vacation in at the home, there are plenty of cozy places to curl up and read a book, or catch up on that TV show that you have been missing.

The Neighborhood

Located in one of the most beautiful small towns of Vermont with population of less than 1000 people this Dutch Colonial home is located just 20 minutes from Mount Snow. The property is 30 minutes from Grafton Village that offers cross-country skiing and tubing. For kids, Adams Family Farm, 20 minutes away, would offer feeding farm animals, goat milking, sleigh rides, and yarn spinning. Several golf clubs are minutes away, as are wineries and breweries to tour, lakes for fishing, rivers for trout and rafting, and a glass blowing studio. Each season has festivals and fairs, and nearby farms offer the freshest produce and eggs. If you are in a mood for cooking inside on a BBQ grill or dining outside in the nearby Tavern or glamorous Four Columns French restaurant in Newfane—the choice is yours.

In the summer enjoy, numerous hiking and cycling opportunities nearby. Bromley Sun Mountain Summer Park offers family adventures for a whole day of fun including New England’s longest zipline, Vermont’s longest waterslide raft ride, America’s longest triple-track Alpine Slide, climbing walls, mini-golf and much more.

Guest Reviews:

- "My family and I stayed for 4 days in this lovely sprawling country VT home. A short drive to Brattleboro was part of the fun. The house is well appointed with a nice hot tub or soaking bath if you prefer. The baby room was a huge hit. The kitchen living space is well appointed. We enjoyed the piano and pool table. Will definitely be back." - "I stayed at this house for a work function in Brattleboro. It was a very charming home, a nice fusion of historical backdrop and modern amenities. The home is in a town, but the area is so quiet and the river is a lot closer than I expected. The back yard does have privacy, hot tub was amazing. Communication with the host was great! Definitely a home I recommend."

The cabin has most modern amenities (wifi, Netflix, even an electric standing desk), but this is a former 3-season hunter's cabin. It's a more rustic stay than a newly built space. We provide coffee, cream, and kitchen staples in the fridge and cabinets. Feel free to ask what's there if you're planning a meal. We can sometimes provide eggs from our hens.

Well-behaved, not-smelly pets are welcome! The backyard is fenced for pups.
The cabin is best for 1-2 adults, but a child is welcome if they can sleep in a travel crib (we can often provide one - please ask) or on the floor in a sleeping bag, as my son loves to do. (You provide bedding and pillow). We could also provide a queen air mattress for a $40 fee but it will take up most of the living room.

We'll provide flexible check-in/out whenever possible.

Guest access
Whole cabin, gardens, porch and hammock are yours to enjoy.

Other things to note
We have a new propane heater and a large wood stove that heats the cabin very well. But this is still an uninsulated space. Cozy slippers make for the most comfortable stay. Firewood is NOT included - please pick up local wood (available at all local groceries) if you would like to use the woodstove. I can usually pick it up for you for a fee.

Riverside Farmhouse
House
Brookline

The Riverside Farmhouse is a 20 minute drive from Brattleboro with its charming shops and hip bars and restaurants. Whether its summer swimming/fishing/kayaking/tubing from our private West River "beach" -- or heading to the glorious music of Marlboro or Manchester or Yellow Barn; or winter skiing at Stratton or Mt. Snow, sledding in our back yard, or just cozying up with board games; or playing the upright piano; or glorious fall bicycling or leaf peeping--Riverside has it all!!

The space
Guests have exclusive use of the entire home, about 2,700 square feet, with 3 bedrooms and two full bathrooms. There is also a "playroom" with a "keurig station" (and lots of granola bars), HD/SMART TV with Firestick, and DVD player (with lots of DVDS), and lots of board games. Guests have exclusive use of the kitchen, living room, dining room, library, lovely screened porch with Adirondack rockers and entire back yard with Croquet or Cornhole or Badminton!

Guest access
Note re owner's wing: I have created a completely separate owners' apartment for my own exclusive use (which is actually a wing of the house created when the barn was converted to a garage and joined to the main house -- I believe in the 1940s). It is above and in back of the garage and I have my own entrance through the garage. I may or may not be in residence when you are here. If I am in my apartment, you will only see me coming and going in my car, or to walk my little dog!

If I am not here, or in case of an emergency, I can open up the utility room for your use. It has my little kitchen, but also the washer and dryer, and is one of the "connector spaces" between you and me.

Plowed driveway has room to park 4 cars.

Other things to note
3 night minimum stay on holiday weekends.

Wally, my 9 lb. rescue "Morkie", lives in my apartment with me when I am here. I take him out for walks several times a day -- through my entrance. Or will let him out in the back yard if my guests don't mind!
