Sub-training, basement apartment in Morgan, Vermont, with 3 Bedrooms, two bathrooms, living area, Kitchenette, and Gym. One bedroom has two queen beds that could sleep 4, another bedroom has a queen that can sleep 2, and a 3rd bedroom has a bunk bed with a queen on the bottom and a twin on top, sleeping up to 3. 9 Total people could sleep here, but six would be the most comfortable. The entire basement is yours. There is no access to the main house above. There is no access to the garage area as well.

This home is literally on the VAST Snowmobile Trail 2001! Currently, you can't go south to Island Pond, but you can go west towards Derby ( to access Island Pond, travel north/west on 2001, then take 2001c to trail 111.) Also, the groomer parks/lives at the house (not for guest use).

- "IT WAS GREAT. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!" - "amazing place!" - "The lake house is in a perfect location along the lake. The scenery is beautiful and the house is stocked so that you really only need to bring food and clothes. The owner is readily available if there are any problems but does not intrude. He did call the first full day we were there just to make sure that everything was perfect. Which it was! There is a bedroom downstairs with a bathroom across from it. It was perfect for my parents who are in their 70s. There was a shower with a low entry which was great for my dad. My husband and 3 sons were able to fish from the dock or go out in a kayak or canoe to fish in the deeper waters. My youngest was the luckiest at catching fish, much to the dismay of his older brothers. Mark had a separate floating dock that we were able to paddle board out to and jump into the deeper water. There were passing rain showers and one thunderstorm but there were enough board games and activities in the game room to keep the boys entertained. When they got tired of being out on the water or fishing there were plenty of yard games to play as well. There was a fire pit for making s'mores or just to sit around at night talking. There is also a pizza oven with instructions on how to make the pizza. It tasted like it was from a professional pizza oven. There was a lot of laughing throughout the week. Mark's house is a must stay location!"

While Bear Cub Cabin caters especially to natural views and experiences, we have installed a SmartTV in the loft bedroom in case you want to spend a rainy day relaxing with your favorite shows. A JVC Bluetooth speaker is onsite if you find yourself in need of some tunes. And the high-speed Starlink WIFI is robust if you need to take a Zoom call (although we hope you don't!) The brand new mini-split AC/Heating unit will keep the temperature right where you like it. For extra ambiance enjoy the gorgeous gas log heat stove.

**A full-size 4-wheel drive vehicle is a must for snow and mud seasons. The last 3 miles of the trip to Bear Cub Cabin are a gravel road. The road and the driveways are well maintained and regularly snow plowed but can get tricky at times with snow and ice conditions.

- "A wonderful property, secluded in the forests of northern Vermont. We stayed during the summer. The property is exactly as advertised. It is perfect for those seeking a quiet getaway. The kitchen is well-equipped, and there are fantastic farm-stands in the area to supply yourself with local produce, eggs, etc. There are also some great restaurants in the surrounding villages. Try The Inn at Burklyn for a fancy splurge, or The Burke Public House for seriously good pub food. We enjoyed a quiet weekend of reading on the front porch, board games, and star-gazing from the top deck. For something off-beat, we recommend a day excursion to The Museum of Everyday Life and The Bread + Puppets Museum. Parker Pie House is a great stop for lunch in the area. We also recommend Next Trick brewery, which is only a few miles down the road. If you're coming from the south, and enjoy baking, a stop at the King Arthur campus in Norwich is an absolute must. Overall a wonderful experience that will rejuvenate busy lives. Justin + Grace"

- "Very clean property - plenty of space and nice layout. We LOVED the HUGE backyard including the little river at the back property edge. Beds are comfortable. Lots of windows which we loved. Heads up - if you like to cook and are particular about things - the stove top is just ok and the knives are basic. That may not be an issue for many people so please dont let that be a reason to avoid this property. Owner/host is super nice and very responsive. We would definitely stay here again."

Relax on a the covered deck while you sip your morning coffee and watch the loons sing or watch the family of ducks swim by. If you are lucky enough you may even get a glimpse of a bald eagle. This home is just minutes away from the VAST trail or during the summer you can zip along the ATV trails as well. We are five minutes from town on the otherside of the pond just by state beach. You can attend the states beach or enjoy this properties small beach and dock. Very private property with no neighbors on either side!!

We may rent it again, but the king bed being hard may be a deal breaker. My husband and I were very uncomfortable in that bed. Other than that all was great. "

Discover the beauty of Island Pond from this brilliant 2 story, 4-bedroom 3 full bath Log Cabin located in the mountains on 34 acres, This area is considered the Snow Mobile Capitol of the North East Kingdom. Sit on the patio and enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains. You might get lucky and catch a glimpse of some white tail deer, black bears or turkeys. Construction was completed in December of 2024.

For snowmobiling enthusiasts and ATV riders the VAST and VASA trails are accessible by dirt road less than a mile away. You can ride your machines right into town to have dinner or do a little shopping. In the winter months enjoy a wide array of snowmobile trails that can lead into Canada and New Hampshire. In the spring, summer and fall, bring your mountain bike and hiking boots and explore the miles and miles of the Kingdom Trails.

Burke Mountain is just 20 minutes away where you can ski, snowboard and mountain bike. Burke offers many midweek discounts for riders, Jay Peak is about 60 minutes away and seems to get the majority of snowfall the last few years. This mountain is much bigger with many more trails and lifts. There is also an indoor water park with swimming pools and hot tubs. Great restaurants are there with entertainment and many different activities for the all ages.

In the Spring and Summer months you can access the VASA trails for ATV riding. There are 2 main access points direct from the cabin by dirt roads. You can even ride your ATV right into town. There you can also access many more ATV trails. The Kingdom Trails at Burke mountain is a main attraction for mountain biking and hiking.

THE CABIN

With a king size bed, 2 full beds, a full size bunk bed with twin bed offers plenty of space for up to 9 guests. Plenty of room for extra blowup mattress in downstairs bedroom. Enjoy the cozy atmosphere and modern amenities including: fully equipped kitchen with island seating, pantry, dining room, family room with 70 inch tv , washer dryer, charcoal grill and outdoor fire pit.

The game room has a ping pong table, foos-ball, darts and ring toss games. Game room also has a cozy sitting room area with another large flat screen tv, dvd and VHS player. There are a large variety of both DVDs and VHS tapes. Some board games are there as well. An electric fireplace is located in the game room to add a little warmth on the cold chilly nights.

The walkout basement leads right to front yard sledding fun for big and little kids with a few sleds available for your use. Covered parking for your snow machines and ATV vehicles is located under the deck. Heating is provided by a nice pellet stove located in the main family room, and radiant heated floors throughout the cabin. WIFI is included. via Starlink.

- "The location is great if you want to go snowmobiling; its very easy to get onto the VAST trail system from apartment. Unfortunately you need to leave your sled down in the back of the property, but its not very far. The interior of the apartment is very nice as was communicating with the rental agency. The only downside is that you can hear everything that is happening in the upstairs apartment. Every step that someone takes upstairs you can hear and can easily hear people talking as well. "

Here's the very best that Vermont has to offer. This 1890's farmhouse has an open floor plan with the K/DR/LR inviting memories to be made. There are five BR and 2.5 bathrooms. . Enjoy the snowmobiling capital of New England of Island Pond, with the VAST trail just across the road. Lovely open porch and 4.6 acres of land

This rustic cabin is the perfect place for a get-away for family or friends. Off-grid cabin only 10 minutes from town, 20 min from the wildlife sanctuary and is the only cabin on the pond.

Sleeps 6 in main cabin (plus two couches) plus adirondack shelter sleeps 12.

The space
The cabin is off-grid, but power for LED lights, boom box and water pump is furnished by solar-charged batteries. Hot and cold running water from mid-May through mid-Oct (outhouse and drinking water only off-season), wood stove, propane heater and propane refrigerator and stove plus a weber barbecue grill. 4 cigarette lighter outlets and USB ports in bedrooms and living room to charge the cell phones or to run the portable DVD player.

Lots to do: cabin comes with radio/CD player, library of books, lots of board games, three boats, and a swim raft and is adjacent to a hiking and hunting trail that runs 3 miles into the woods. A glass-front wood stove provides warmth and great ambiance at night. There is a swim raft and dock for boat launching and fishing. Restaurants, gas stations, the town beach and a small supermarket are 10 minutes away in town.

We're just fine with large groups using the facility. Youth groups, "weekends with the guys/girls" and families have often used it over the years. Dogs are more than welcome.
Parking for 3-4 cars plus room for tents. Indoor bathroom plus outhouse for additional use.

Caveats: Water for toilet, shower and washing is pumped into the tank from a spring-fed pond. The tank lasts about 3 days and we leave instructions for refilling it. Cell service: 1-2 bars for AT&T, TMobile and US Cellular. No Verizon or Sprint service. No WIFI.

Drinking water comes from a private well and is brought in before you arrive. Note: Sheets and towels provided for six people. There are lots of pillows and comforters.

IMPORTANT: Running water is available from Mid May through Mid-October, before we shut it off for the winter.

The space
The exterior of the house is unfinished, the new siding is up, and we are working on the trim this summer so there is scaffolding on the building,, but will respect the peace and quiet of our guests. The house is big and grand. Parts of it built in 1870 and part of it built in 1890. All of the rooms are spacious and open, the interior has been completely renovated from the studs out, floor to ceiling. The master suite is upstairs. It is a large comfortable space.

Trails leave the back of the property and meander for miles until reaching the VAST snowmobile network. Guests can take full advantage of this unique part of the property. EASY DRIVEWAY ACCESS for parking trailers in both summer and winter.

The house has 5 beds and can accommodate up to 8 guests. There are 2 full bathrooms as well as a washer and dryer. Modern amenities include high speed internet and smart TV.

The kitchen is stocked with plates, utensils, and cookware so you can cook right from home throughout your stay.

An outdoor firepit is available for relaxing at the property after a day of adventure. Five Adirondack chairs are provided. Firewood included. Guests can also use the propane grill provided for outdoor BBQs. A screened-in pergola is set up in the backyard for bug free outdoor enjoyment.

A peloton bike is set up in the basement for home workouts.

ATV's can be ridden on Brighton town roads when trails are open. Please check town website for updates on VASA trail closures and additional details. All vehicles must be properly registered in their home state and all riders must have a valid VASA trail pass. Trails connect all the way to Derby, Morgan and Wheelock.

Take advantage of the endless outdoor recreation possibilities close by. Kingdom Trails, a premier destination for mountain biking is located just 17 miles down the road in East Burke. Lake Willoughby State Park is located just 20 minutes from the house for a refreshing dip during summer months.

The renowned Silvio O. Conte Wildlife Refuge is a birding paradise located just 20 minutes from our location.

Hiking is endless with both Vermont and New Hampshire destinations close by. Bluff Mountain trail is a great local trail in Island Pond. Trailheads to Percy Peaks and Mt Cabot in New Hampshire are within 45 minutes drive.

In the winter skiing is close by at Burke Mountain (35 Minutes) and Jay Peak (1 hour).

While the cabin is a one level building, there is a series of stairs from the parking area to the front door. There is another set of stairs down to the water.

Please note that due to the natural surroundings of our property, it is possible that bugs and insects will be present. The space
Located on 34 acres in a quiet secluded area in the outskirts of Island Pond Vt. Island Pond is the snowmobile capital of the North East Kingdom as well as prime area to access the VASA trail system for ATV riding. Multiple trail access is available right from the property.

Ride your snowmobiles into town and enjoy riding on the lake. There you can access many of the VAST trails that Vermont has to offer. Only 20 minutes from Burke Mountain where you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the winter months, and mountain biking and hiking in the spring and summer.

Jay Peak is about 45 minutes away, another great mountain for skiing, snowboarding and also has an indoor water park.

Sit on the Patio deck and enjoy a cup of coffee or hot chocolate while enjoying the spectacular views. You might even catch a glimpse of the white tail deer, black bear and turkeys that roam the property.

There is a trail that goes to the top of the mountain that overlooks the entire town of Island Pond. Great for Hiking,

There is a walkout basement that leads to the rear of the house where you can park your snowmobiles under the patio deck.

You can even enjoy sledding right in the front yard.

Plenty of room for entire family that sleeps nine with 5 beds. There is ample space to fit a blowup mattress should you need extra sleeping space for your family members.

The downstairs has a private bedroom and full bathroom along with a game room.

The town of Island Pond is home to a 600 acre lake, great for fishing,and boating. There is a beautiful beach area with pavilions grills, and restrooms. Enjoy swimming , paddle boarding and kayaking. There is also a 22 acre island in the middle of the lake that you can go exploring on.

It is stocked with a variety of pots & pans, cooking utensils, a coffeemaker with filters, a microwave, an electric griddle for pancakes, a pop-up type toaster and, a toaster oven.

The kitchen is stocked with sugar, salt & pepper, basic spices, & olive oil.
We supply cleaning products, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, 1.5" barrel curling iron, and first aid items.

Enjoy Island Pond LAKE LIFE at our Antique Victorian on Birch Point. Water views, & private waterfront make for a memorable stay. Nice grassy lawn for croquet, badminton, corn hole. Fully equipped kitchen, large dining table, This quirky old estate has plenty of space no matter the weather. TV den, Games, Darts, and a mint julep ready front porch. Short walk to town for food, playground or entertainment.

The space
Our house is filled with antique charm - high ceilings, decorative glass windows and creaky floor boards. Front porch is glassed in and has ample water views, the waterfront has a beautiful elevated grass terrace and stone stairs down to the docks. Private personal waterfront is located directly across our quiet dead-end street. In most months there are numerous chairs and tables for outdoor living. There is a gas grill on the back porch outside the kitchen door undercover from the rain.
-Please note: the lake waterfront access is down a dirt walking path. Although there is a fence/handrail and it is short it likely would be difficult for those with mobility issues.
-Docks on the water are seasonal and dependent on lake water levels.
-In non-winter months the lawn has ample outdoor seating and a large table for outdoor dining.
-In non-snowy months the waterfront has plenty of seating as well.
-Our home does not have A/C, each room has a window fan available for your use.

The space
Upon arrival to this house, you will be captivated by its beauty… rustic yet modern, the perfect lakefront retreat. As you enter the home through the front door, the wide foyer with cathedral ceilings will wow you. Sit at one of the 2 benches to take your shoes off, or later, come back to relax and read a book. As you enter the hall, the first floor offers 2 bedrooms (2 fulls in one bedroom, with a couch and a king and a full bed in the other). There is a bathroom with enclosed glass shower, a laundry room with a full size, stackable washer and dryer, bins to put dirty clothes in and a slop sink. At the end of the hall is a large mudroom with more bench seating, shelving, and lots of cubbies for shoes and accessories plus plenty of coat hooks. The 2nd floor will take your breath away as you enter into a large, cathedral open space with panoramic views of the lake. This floor has 2 more bedrooms (1 with a queen bed and the other with a full size Murphy bed. The Murphy bed room can be used as a private gym while the bed is tucked away. It is equipped with a recumbent bike and hand weights. The loft has a pull out full size couch. That’s where all the games and puzzles are stored for a rainy afternoon in). There is another full bathroom with walk in tile shower, a sunken living room with large sectional couch, gas fireplace and mounted 50” TV. For those who love to cook, enjoy the large gourmet kitchen with gas cooktop and oven, wine fridge, dishwasher, island seating and a dining table for 7. There is a pellet stove for use on colder nights. Sit in the adjacent room on a leather couch, chair or 2 more upholstered swivel chairs. There is a mini split in this room for warmer days where you need to cool off the space. All rooms have either ceiling fans or portable fans. Step outside off the main living area and take in the beauty of the Lake. Here you will enjoy a 2 level deck with all the amenities to make you feel right at home. Sit and enjoy the views on the first level on our sectional couch, or 2 wooden rockers. A service bar is directly outside the slider to bring out all your food and drinks, plus a gas fireplace for ambiance or cold nights. Step down two steps and you have a high top bar with four chairs, a dining table with six chairs, two lounge chairs and grills. We offer a gas grill, a Blackstone and a Traeger smoker. From here a full set of stairs leads you to an expansive yard. Walk down the bluestone walkway to your sanded fire pit with Adirondack chairs or from there, head down the grassy, lit pathway to stairs that will take you down to the lake. Your private dock awaits you where you can fish, swim, kayak, paddle board or simply sit on the dock on a lounge chair. You’re on vacation, so relax!
A pontoon boat is available to rent for your stay (inquire about pricing) or bring your own. Boats and jet skis are allowed on the lake. At the end of the day, come back and take a nice hot shower in your enclosed outdoor shower. Under the deck there is more seating with a swinging chair, couch and a picnic bench. For your use, there are 2 kayaks, a paddle board, volley ball net, plus 2 mountain bikes. You can bike, walk or take your car to town, only 2.5 miles away. Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at one of the 5 local restaurants/cafes. A grocery store is right in town to grab food and beverages. They also sell wine, beer and spirits. There are a couple shops to browse, an Ace Hardware Store, a Dollar General, several churches, a park and playground, tennis/pickleball courts, town beach, State Park and of course hiking trails galore. Go Explore the Beauty of the Northeast Kingdom.
