Very beautiful cabin located in the Laurel Mountains just down the road from Seven Springs and Hidden Valley ski resorts. This is a unique opportunity to experience the Laurel Mountains with the privacy of your own rental home. You will find this home to be a beautiful rental at an exceptionally reasonable rate.

The home has two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed, a full bed. and a single bed. The second is a loft that has 3 twin beds. This bedroom overlooks the great room accessible by a pull down ladder.

The great room is very large with cathedral ceilings and plenty of space for the guests to spread out. There are many skylights and windows to let in the natural light and the beautiful wooded scenery. There is a stone fireplace in the great room and a wood burning stove. All of the firewood is included. There is a full kitchen including all major appliances, cooking utensils, and a dining table.

There are one and a half bathrooms. The master bath has a shower with unlimited hot water. The second is a powder room.

Extra fridge for drinks was great too. I recommend some mixing bowls if needed in your meal plans or you need to use one of the pots there. The pool was chilly but the owners were quick to help us make it warmer. The field was great for silly games and sports. We might bring a cart to take down some heavier things next time. The Sweetheart Cabin is tucked away off Route 31 so year-round access is possible even in the snowy months.

Please note this cabin sits at approximately 2700 feet elevation. Guests MUST have AWD/4WD to stay here from Nov 1-March 31st. Guests that fail to abide by this advice will get stuck and be disappointed.

See below for all the things to do and places to see within minutes of this owner-operated mountain getaway. Middle Mountain Cottage was fully renovated in 2022 and is a 1 ½ story house located within minutes to many year-round outdoor activities! Ten (included in the nightly rate - no extra person fees!) will sleep comfortably in beds. Nobody has to sleep on a futon or pull-out couch.
The main floor includes two private bedrooms, one with a full-size bed and one with a queen-size bed.
PLEASE NOTE: The upstairs is considered one bedroom, but there are 3 separate sleeping areas, each area having 2 single beds. Please see the photos for clarification. Kids love the upstairs!
Our guests love the huge fire pit and our 7-seat hot tub! Our cozy mountain house comes with a well-stocked kitchen and a propane grill on the back deck, if you choose to stay in for meals(although there are many restaurants within a few miles). There are 2 full bathrooms on the main floor, one with a bath/shower combo and the other with a large shower. Sheets, blankets, bath towels, hot tub towels and kitchen linens are provided. Some K-cups, creamer packets, tea bags, dish soap, dishwasher soap, shampoo, body wash, conditioner, hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, bath tissues and laundry soap are provided to get you started.
This home is centrally located to countless things to do. Hiking trails and acres of hunting are right out the back door, where Forbes State Forest borders the back yard! A stocked trout stream is across the street with easy access just up the road.
Let Middle Mountain Cottage be your “home-base” after all your many adventures, where you can relax in the hot tub, warm up by the gas fireplace, have a foosball or darts tournament, play corn hole, or enjoy S’more making at the fire pit. If you want to stay for a week to fit in all the adventures, there is a washer and dryer for your use - No need to over-pack! The house is also equipped with a whole-house water softener and purifier for your comfort and convenience.

1. No Parties or Events: Parties and events are strictly prohibited.
We have a zero-tolerance policy.
2. Check-In/Check-Out: Check-in is at 3 PM and check-out is at 11 AM. Early check-ins and late check-outs are subject to
availability and may incur a fee due to enhanced cleaning
measures and third-party cleaning schedules. Guests overstaying or delaying housekeeping will be liable for
associated costs.
3. Local Reservations: Reservations from guests within their city of
residence are not allowed. Please contact us if you are booking
within your city.
4. No Smoking or Drugs: Smoking, illegal drugs, parties, and
excessive noise are prohibited, including on porches and in
shared spaces. Violations of the smoking policy incur a $250 fine
plus cleaning and repair costs. Marijuana use is strictly
prohibited.
5. No Commercial Use: Commercial photography and videography
without written consent are strictly prohibited.
6. Illegal Activities Prohibited: Illegal activity, prostitution, and
possession of firearms are strictly prohibited.
7. Guest Limits: The number of overnight guests must not exceed the number stated in the reservation. Exterior cameras are in use. Violations will be enforced.
8. Guest Responsibility: Guests are responsible for damages, injury,
or loss that occur on the premises. Any property damage must
be reported to customer service. Unreported damages will be
deducted from the security deposit or reported to the booking
platform.
9. Pet Policy: Dogs only allowed. The pet
fee is $30 per night, with a $200 monthly cap, and is charged on the day of check-in. Unauthorized pets will incur
additional fees. Cats and other pets are not allowed. Pets are not allowed on provided linens; an additional $50 fee applies for excess pet hair on linens.
10. Consumable Amenities: Initial supplies of amenities like toilet
paper and paper towels are provided. 1 bag of complimentary firewood provided. Guests are responsible for
replenishing these items as needed.
11. Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are from 9 PM to 9 AM daily.
12. Amenities: We strive to ensure all advertised amenities are in working order. If an amenity fails mechanically and cannot be used during your stay, we will refund $15 for every 24 hours the
amenity is unusable, provided we are properly notified. No refunds are issued for improper use by guests.
13. Internet Service: Wireless internet is provided as a courtesy. Service can sometimes be erratic. We are not responsible for internet issues or provide technical support, and no refunds are
issued for internet service problems.
14. Pet Linens: Pets are not allowed on our provided linens. Please bring your own if your pet will be on the bed. Excess pet hair on our linens will incur a $50 fee. Pet covers for both chairs and the couch are provided.
15. Guests who make reservations for over 28 days must sign our standard lease agreement and agree to a background check before check-in (it will be provided before check-in).
16. Agreement to House Rules: Booking a reservation constitutes

It far surpasses the pictures, which are fine, but they don't fully capture how warm and comfortable the home is. There are interesting decorative touches throughout too. Two of our sons and families came for a weekend, and the grandchildren kept pointing out more of those touches as they noticed them! The home is spacious too, with a wonderful kitchen, a large dining table, and two relaxing seating areas...and the hot tub under the stars is a bonus! All in all, a wonderful place and location! The cabin includes an open living room and kitchen on the first floor, as well as a full bathroom with shower and bath. The entryway has a futon and can provide an additional private sleeping area if desired. The large loft on the second floor includes a king size bed, a single bed, and a queen size sofa bed.

- "We stayed for 5 days. We found plenty to do and see. The cabin is small and quaint. Quite a lovely place to stay. All sleep accommodations are in one room in the upstairs loft, though I suppose someone could sleep on the downstairs couch. This was fine for us as we are a married couple traveling on our own. For anyone wanting to travel with others there would be limited privacy. There are stairs down to the cabin, stairs to get into the cabin, steep stairs up to the loft. We are in our sixties and my husband has bilateral hip replacement and we were able to handle the stairs just fine----but if stairs are challenging for you....this is good to know. Also, to take a shower you must step into a tallish tub. For most folks, none of this is a problem, but for some it's good to know. The host was very good about communicating the check in and check out process---both of which are very easy. I have never had an easier check out process. Basically, all you need to do is pack up your stuff and take it with you when you go. The area around the cabin is scenic and beautiful. This is a great place to stay. "

The space
The cabin includes an open living room and kitchen on the first floor, as well as a full bathroom with shower and bath. The loft stairs are very steep.

Guest access
Guests have access to the cabin and over 5 acres of land with a creek going through the center. There is a large patio with a smokeless fire pit as well as an outdoor stone wood fired oven. There is also a large open yard beside the cabin with another more primitive fire pit, a swingset and plenty of space for outdoor activities, including tents and any other yard games you’d like to bring.

Powdermill Nature Reserve trails can be accessed via the gravel access road that starts at the end of Powder Mill Rd and continues into the Nature Reserve. It is about a .3 mile walk from the Cabin to Powdermill’s Porcupine Ridge Trail, which can either take you to an overlook vista of the Laurel Mountain or to the Powdermill Nature Center and their other trails. You can also access the trails through the woods from the property, but will need to make your own trail.

Other things to note
The property is surrounded by nature, including the nature reserve which means over 2,200 acres of preserved wildlife. While on the property we have seen everything from squirrels, deer, birds, mice, snakes and bears. The animals are happy to leave you alone if you leave them alone, but open food can attract them. We recommend not leaving any unoccupied food outside, we also provide sealed storage containers for any food that is not stored within the refrigerator.

The creek can provide hours of fun for children and adults alike, but it can also be dangerous without precaution. Young children should never be left unattended. The rocks in and around the creek can be very slippery and there are also ledges and dropoffs, as well as some swimming holes that can be up to 4 feet deep. Periods of heavy rain or snow melt can cause high waters, strong currents and flooding, please take extreme caution before entering the creek during any of these conditions and at all times enjoy the creek at your own risk.

We purposely did not put a TV in the cabin as when we come to the cabin we love to disconnect, enjoy nature and have a more analog experience. For rainy days we love playing board games by the fire and listening to the record player. You are welcome to bring your own device and stream video on the wifi.
