In the back are hiking and biking trails extending for miles into the unpopulated California and Oregon forests. The beach is accessible by a 5 minute drive below the property. There are opportunities for beachcombing where we actually find agates. you can collect mussels or crabs and cook them for dinner. You can venture to Redwood National Park located 18 miles to the south, and the famous Rouge River with jet boat rides in Gold Beach 40 minutes away.

We are 9 miles to Brookings, Oregon where there are great restaurants, shopping, The Port, and hundreds of hiking trails viewing the ocean and the redwoods. We have 4 rivers locally, they are the Rogue, WinChuck, Smith River and the Chetco.

This location is perfect for a person who needs to be able to work. They internet speed is great, there is a large desk, monitor and chair.

This is a fascinating beach house that is just now becoming a perfect vacation spot. 2 bedrooms, 1 bath on the first floor with the living area, dining and kitchen on level two. - "The cabins are cute and quaint. The view is beautiful. Perfect hiking nearby and brookings has a very Maine feel to it." - "We love staying at these cabins and especially appreciate that we can bring our dog. The beach is long and perfect for walks or runs. The ocean is shallow and sandy in huge stretches by the cabins so it is nice for swimming. The cabin was clean and had what we needed. This particular cabin was well furnished even with nice patio furniture. The hot tub was clean and worked well. The tv worked well when we wanted to use it. Wi-Fi was good for streaming. The cabins are super small but this one was configured in a way that it seems a little less cramped, which was really nice. On the flip side: The queen bed was SO noisy I didn’t want to move all night. It was almost comical how noisy it was. The oven only kind of worked. We cooked a pizza in it that usually takes 12 minutes and it took 35. It DID cook eventually though. We couldn’t get a hold of the cabin manager before we left to confirm our reservation. We have had issues this year with booking agencies and wanted confirmation. When we got out there, however, we had to contact them twice, about the door code and coffee supply, and both times they got back to us right away. Over all we LOVE staying in these cabins and highly recommend them."

Private room in a new house I purchased 2 yrs ago. Right between Crescent City and Brookings. Perfect for traveling professionals being 15 minutes away from Sutter Hospital. 13 minutes from the prison. Perfect for fisherman, 10 minutes from 3 major rivers and 30 from a few more. Brookings is only 10 minutes away with convenient shopping, good restaurants, and no sales tax. This is a safe, clean, and quiet alternative to motels.

The space
I just bought a new house in Smith River and i occupy one of the rooms. There are 2 other rooms i rent to travelling professionals and they share a bathroom. I just bought a Dozier chair that folds out into a single bed. This room can accommodate people who need a separate sleeping space from their travel partner.The house is situated near the 101 highway between Brookings oregon and Crescent city California. 13 miles from the prison and excellently located for traveling professionals. The whole house. Kitchen, laundry, yard, bathroom. I am in the master with my chihuahuas. The other rooms are across the living room from me along with the shared bathroom. I have a semi circular driveway so we can all be out of each other's way with our cars.

During your stay
I am a retired veterinary technician. I just bought this brand new house 3 yrs ago.I am renting out two of the rooms in the house. I will be coming and going doing my usual day to day stuff but available if needed .

Other things to note
I am a first time host. Be gentle! I have spare blankets and new clean towels in each closet. In the kitchen, feel free to make coffee and cook yourself something. I have plates,bowls, cutlery, and a pot and frying pan. I ask that you not cook anything in grease as it gets in the air and settles in the carpet as a permanent smell. The beds and mattresses are brand new. If your pet sleeps with you .please use a blanket under them. All pet guests must be approved by me prior to booking. I have a 6 lb dog with an autoimmune disorder that cannot be around fleas or happy puppies pawing at him. So its a case by case basis but i can work with everyone and see to their pets needs as well in most cases. Each room has a lock and a key. There is a $50 charge for lost keys.
My cancelation policy is strict because I just bought this house and have a mortgage. When I get a long term booking I tend to make a house payment. That makes refunding difficult for me. Three months during the summer is when I tend to get bookings.
I know great beaches and where to get the best fish and chips in the area. Ask if you would like recommendations.

The property is on the CA/OR state line and is 10 minutes to Brookings/ Harbor OR.

The space
Outside the private entrance is the jacuzzi where you can enjoy the sunsets over the Pacific. From a comfily chair you can think, read and listen to the ocean below. There is total privacy on this property but close to everything you might enjoy. Restaurants, 3 state parks within 18 miles, beachcombing, antiquing, fresh seafood, giant redwoods, movie theaters, fishing, kayaking in our three local rivers.

The path to the beach is at the Northwest corner of the backyard. Please use caution

A basket in the entry contains striped beach towels and a beach mat. Please only use
the striped towels when you go to the beach. When returning from the beach, please store
sandy towels and mat in the basket.
Inside:
Please wipe your feet on the mats inside and outside of each door. Sand tracks all over
the house if you don’t.
Extra blankets are in the closet.
There is a first aid kit in the medicine cabinet.
