The Palisade Log Cabin is a lake front, wooded private retreat on the north shore of Lake Superior. It is located just off Highway 61, one mile northeast of Silver Bay. It is about a half mile through heavily wooded lots to the 45-year-old secluded and authentic log cabin. The cabin sits on seven acres of private land, and has more than 460 feet of high rugged Lake Superior shoreline.

There are incredible views to the north of the Palisade Head Cliffs. These cliffs reach 350 feet high and are a favorite of rock climbers. You can hear the waves of the lake crashing against the ledge rock cliffs just 70 feet from the cabin. The sunrises over the lake are spectacular; in the evening you might be able to view the northern lights.

We installed a geothermal heating/cooling system in October 2012 which should keep the cabin warm and cozy all winter long, and cool in the summer. Enjoy the peace and solitude of the whispering pines and birch while watching a bald eagle flying above. You can read a book or play cards/games near the cabin’s warm wood stove. Outside you can toast marshmallows at the fire pit or play horseshoes. Search for Thomsonites, agates, crystals, cobblestones, or driftwood at the nearby Black beach, go berry picking, or view colorful spring wild flowers and brilliant fall foliage.

-Drive the Highway 61/Superior National Forest Scenic Byway and visit the beautiful Minnesota state parks nearby (see map).
-Hike on The Superior Hiking Trail that runs from Two Harbors to the Canadian border. -Ride your bike on the Gitche Gami Bike Trail that runs along Highway 61.
-Snowmobile on the North Shore State Snowmobiling Trail or drive an ATV on designated ATV trails from Duluth to Grand Portage.
-Try cross-country skiing on the North Shore Mountain Cross Country Ski Trail.
-Visit Lutsen Mountains ski resort 36 miles from the cabin.

In the summer you can go to Black Beach less then a mile away, and nearby beautiful sandy beaches which are part of Tettegouche State Park or hike to the beautiful High Falls. Take a charter boat tour or fishing trip out of the Silver Bay Marina, that is 3.5 miles to the southwest. If you're adventurous, you can go kayaking in the cove. Golfing is available at Silver Bay golf course, and there is live music in Silver Bay July 14- September 1.

Watch for giant iron ore carriers on Lake Superior; they depart from Silver Bay and head east to Cleveland. Look for wildlife around the cabin and you may see eagle, deer, moose, bear, fox, wolf, and beaver. If you don’t feel like cooking, dine at a variety of fine nearby restaurants (Northwoods Cafe in Silver Bay, Lemon Wolf in Beaver Bay, Cove Point Lodge in Beaver Bay; Rustic Inn near Two Harbors) or check out the new Timber Coffee Company near downtown Silver Bay.

There is also a local grocery store, Zups, located just five minutes for the cabin for last minute supplies.

The Writer's Cabin is a quaint, long established residence hidden in the oldest part of town. It has been fully restored and modernized to provide all the creature comforts and yet remain historic in nature. This is an original "Tiny home" as it was originally constructed nearly 100 years ago. We did expand the bath to accommodate the jacuzzi, and we raised the ceilings and brightened the entire cabin. A sauna is available on a first come first serve basis for an additional fee. Contact us for details. The Writer's Cabin is set amidst lush landscaping for privacy, and the cabin is only steps from the harbor. All amenities are provided including an enameled cast iron gas fireplace, a therapeutic air tub for two, a queen bed, a well equipped modern kitchen with oven and stove, smart Roku TV, an antique secretary writing desk, high speed wireless internet (best in town), and various objects of interest representative of famous writers and local writers including locally written books and Ernest Hemmingway's favorite model of typewriter. A sauna is available for a fee on a first come first serve basis and all info on it can be found on our web site or inquire with us here. Attention Air BnB guests: If you paid the dog fee through Air BnB it only covers one dog, you will be responsible to contact the cabin owner to pay for any 2nd dog. Out the back door leading you through our yard is an easy loop foot path.
Your first stop would be our fire pit with Adirondack chairs and picnic table. There is a Nice grassy lawn area for yard games such as ladder ball and bocce.
On the east side of the property you can enjoy a secluded area in the pines to watch the waves crash on the rocks in the cove.
From there you can walk across a small foot bridge to a hammock in a tree or a seating area on the lake, then up a short climb to enjoy the a birds eye view from our comfy glider.
Leading back to the house you cross over another small bridge situated next to our charming 8ft seasonal waterfall.

The 'Lighthouse' is a special lodging overlooking the town and harbor of Grand Marais from its center. At the Lighthouse there is covered parking that leads to a stairway that takes you up to the Lighthouse. The view of the old harbor from the balcony is stunning. There is a wrought iron table and chairs on the balcony for relaxing. Inside the Lighthouse you will find a queen bed, tile shower and bathroom, galley kitchen, custom dining table for two, LCD TV (please bring your own streaming codes, there is no cable or area broadcast content). The bed is set at an angle and faces southeast to capture the views of the harbor in the morning through large windows. Many of our guests yearn for a connection with nature, the lake, the community, a reconnection with each other, and permission to come to a full stop for deep rest. There are transom windows around the perimeter of the apartment that let in light from all points on the compass but do not compromise privacy. Eye masks are provided for those that want to sleep in :-). Notice how the light changes as the day progresses. Observe the color differences around sunset or early in the morning as the Great Lake passes through its moods. The ceiling is very high and is vaulted and timberframed with unique 'Dragon Beams' from local timberframe artisans. Topping the lighthouse is an octagonal lighthouse cupola that lets light in all day and moonlight at night and contains a genuine ships lantern that you can switch on from the bed. And on top of the cuppola is a custom copper ball, in keeping with the lighthouses of the North Shore. The antique ship's light that occupies the cuppola can guide you as you walk home after a night of festivities in the town. There is an all cedar Finnish Sauna next door to the Lighthouse for your exclusive use for an additional fee. Usage comes with robes and additional towels and complete instructions. The gally kitchen is small but thoroughly modern with all the necessities. The Lighthouse is above the 'North Shore Fisherman's Cabin', a restored historic log home. Welcome to our Lake Burntside 4 Season retreat. This newer hand scribed 1,700 square foot log cabin on 2 acres of property and 200’ of frontage on the pristine waters of Lake Burntside is only 9 miles from Ely town ctr and minutes to the boundary waters canoe area.

The open plan cabin has a master bedroom and full bathroom on the main level as well as a loft with full bath, sleeping up to 8 in beds. It has a fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, great views and large patio overlooking the lake as well as a new barrel sauna down by the water and dock.

In the summer, use our canoe or keep your boat on the dock as you enjoy fishing, watersports, canoeing and endless water activity on the +7,000 acre Lake Burntside known for its crystal clear waters as well as it’s fishery of Lake Trout, Whitefish, Walleye, Northern, perch and pan fish . For winter, the home is well insulated with heated floors so take advantage of abundant cross country and snowmobile trails (snowmobile trail passes right by property on lake) or enjoy snowshoeing, ice fishing, dogsledding, or just relaxing with hot cocoa or wine in front of the fire. Painted Rock sits perched on a quaint spit of Lake Superior ledge rock, halfway between Lutsen and Grand Marais on the edge of Cascade River State Park.

This historic log cabin has been fully restored to retain all its original charm and history of bygone days, while updated with all the modern amenities. This was My Mom and Dad’s house. We put a lot into the house and want it cared for the way we think it should.This is why we have a no dogs and kids between the ages of three and ten. Sorry about this but we have your reasons it’s not that we don’t like dogs or kids. That’s not it. We are doing no less than six night stays.

This 12 year old beautiful home is just like new with a King size bed on the main level and a big loft area that includes a Queen bed and a sleep sofa/futon as well as a full sleep sofa/futon in the main living area.

This Pike River/Pike bay inlet property has a nice private dock with a sitting/fishing bench where you are able to sit, fish or relax. Fishing is closed on the Pike River during the month of May for spawning, but access to the lake is open. You are welcome to park your boat at the dock. We do not recommend that Fiberglass boats /or any other boats over 19' navigate up the river due to the current and fluctuation of depth caused by rain, evaporation and wind. By boat it takes around 7-10 minutes to navigate out to Pike Bay and that is the same amount of it Takes to get to a couple of good concrete launch ramps that can put you in different bays on the East side of Lake Vermilion for Fishing or just cruising around.

The fire pit area has plenty of seating and is only a stones throw away from the dock. The large deck has a patio table, new gas grill and plenty of seating if you like to sit out at night and enjoy the fresh air. The inside of the house has a full kitchen that includes a( Keurig coffeemaker, 2 slice bagel toaster, rice cooker, hand mixer and a large slow cooker). Also a full bathroom with tub/ shower and a laundry room for your use. The house has central A/C with 3 separate units. The large propane fireplace has a safety screen on it to keep hands from touching the glass. You will find two nice Samsung 43" High Definition LCD TV's in the main living area and one in the master bedroom, both with dish satellite TV for you to enjoy.

Location is key for this vacation rental. You are less than a half mile from a large gas station, convenient store with drive thru bait service that includes a new Liquor store.

Lake Vermilion is the 5th largest inland lake in Minnesota at 40,000 plus acres with over 350 islands and 1,200 miles of shoreline that makes it one of Minnesota's Top Multi-Species lakes. In the lake you will find the following Species-Walleye, Northern Pike, Bass, Crappies and of course Muskies. Fall Crappie fishing is good right off the dock.

Snowmobiling- The house is 2 tenths of a mile from groomed trails that give you direct access to the Arrowhead, Taconite and the State Marked Lake Trails. You can ride on some of the best trail systems in the state.

Golfing- within 45 minutes you can golf 12 different courses ranging from 9 hole courses to 3 of Minnesota's top public course: The Quarry and The Legend at Giants Ridge in Biwabik and The Wilderness at Fortune Bay.

- "Once again, we very much enjoyed the accommodations at Tofte Cove. This is our third time staying here as a family. Grounds and property are lovely, the view of the lake is awesome, and the house is clean, comfortable and well-appointed with many amenities. The one thing I would suggest is to upkeep the lawn mowing on the path down to the cove- it was very overgrown and hard to navigate. The cove is a special spot and highlight of this property!"

Nestled along the bank of Lake Superior's rugged coastline, right at the very end of Cascade Beach Road, WoodSong is situated at the edge of Cascade River State Park and almost exactly between Lutsen and Grand Marais — easy 10-minute drives in either direction. Completely rebuilt, this artisan-crafted cabin was spared no expense in its attention to detail. From the overall design to the hand-forged forged ironwork, painstaking care was given to every square inch. The result is something more akin to a crafted wood sculpture than a mere dwelling. A spacious main room is built around the granite-faced wood-burning fireplace with French doors that open directly out to the Big Lake. Each of its 2 bedrooms has its own, private spa-like bath, complete with deep soaking tub.

Outside, the charm is in full force … Not only is WoodSong's patio a stone's throw from Lake Superior's lapping waves, but it also has a lake-side covered porch. Repurposed from an original, historic North Shore fish house — one of the few that remain standing from that bygone era — time with coffee, wine, and friends is about as close to North Shore ecstasy as it gets! As idyllic as WoodSong is, the cabin itself is only the beginning …

WoodSong is situated in the heart of the most legendary and spectacular section of the entire North Shore. Hundreds of miles of Sawtooth Mountains trails (hiking in the summer, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter) are accessible right out the front door of the cabin. Cascade Lodge Restaurant & Pub is an easy 1/2-mile walk and features great food, drinks, and frequent live music. A trail leading to Cascade Falls is only 1 mile from WoodSong's door. And within a 30-minute drive, everything the North Shore is known for is accessible: world-class hiking, fishing, kayaking, biking trails, skiing, galleries, restaurants, NorthHouse Folk School, and a vibrant live music scene. By design, the Sky House provides for all the needs of a vacationing party of up to 6 people in a 1264 Sq. Ft. home but 4 people are ideal. We are a dog friendly stay with the payment of the appropriate fee and understanding of the rules. The Sky House provides an inspiring, modern space that allows for privacy among those sharing the lodging, and also provides a breathtaking great room area on the top floor with fantastic views of the Grand Marais harbor, the neighborhood, and the town. Everything is in short walking distance from our micro community right in the heart of Grand Marais. Every restaurant, bar, coffee shop, gallery, and Grand Marais' famous beach are all a very short stroll from this private residence. The home is designed in modern Nordic fashion. The design is contextual architecture that completes a timeline of Scandinavian and Nordic design that the owners began on the property next door that also honored northern buildings in the roots of their designs. There is off street parking under a sod roofed carport. There is also an electric car charging station in the car port. Walk up to the entry area and pass under the arch to the first of 3 decks where there is room to store bikes in summer, and once inside, there is plenty of room to shake off the snow, hang the coats and set down the skis or snowshoes. Each bedroom is very private is separated from the other by a soundproofed floor and ceiling for maximum privacy. Each bedroom also has its own restroom with shower, work station, free standing closet, queen bed, and balcony or patio with great views for getting away from the group. Continuing up the inspiring staircase leads you to the primary gathering area on the top floor. This area is breathtaking with its expansive windows, view of the town and harbor, Lake Superior and the grounds. It is simply the best view from a lodging in Grand Marais. There is a fully modern and capable kitchen, an architect designed built in sofa for single sleepers, and a contemporary gas fireplace. The sofa can sleep one adult or two children as is, or it can be modified to sleep one adult above and one adult on floor cushions. Note the unique skylight with natural light filtering treatments and the push button electronic pop up television that you can leave hidden if you wish. There is also a wrap around deck on this top level with fantastic view of the rooftops and harbor and the town and of course Lake Superior. There is a utility room with full size washer and dryer. Everything about the Sky House is designed with environmental sustainability in mind. These homes have an incredibly small footprint both structurally and environmentally. The foundations were designed to take up as little of the yard as possible- by being small at the start and increasing as you go up just like the old Stabur upon which this design is based. No cost has been spared to make the Sky House the highest quality, most significant architectural addition to Grand Marais' beautiful landscape. Our very spacious lodging was originally built as an artists studio. We kept the open concept with amazing sky lights and lighting in the kitchen and shower room. Windows in the front of the studio face Lake Superior. Sleeping space is separated from dining and living space. In addition, the shower room is separated from the toilet room to accommodate better usage of facilities. Deck on the Lake is available to guests.

Recently added is an electric fireplace for that comfy feeling after a long day hiking or other outside activities.

I am pet friendly. Pets must be kenneled if left alone at all. You must provide your own kennel. Please relieve your dogs often to avoid accidents on my carpets. I charge $100 for damage fee for any and all urine accidents.

We have a kitchen with stove and oven. We also have provided a Keurig coffee maker, a hot water pot, an electric fry pan, microwave, instant pot, and refrigerator.

WiFi is available but no tv service.

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Boat access fishing cabin The Walleye Factory. Has a separate out building with wood fired sauna. Large deck and updated outhouse. No electricity but I have installed newer LP fridge and lights. Rustic LP stove/oven and centrally located barrel wood fired heat. Cabin is furnished with sink, table, chairs, two sets of bunk beds, and bedding sheets. Has basic cooking supplies, seasonings, and cast iron pans. Available summer 2022. Att cell cov.

The space
Open one room with a separation wall to sleeping area, a futon couch out front. Has sink, no running water, but with outside drain for dishes. Rain barrel for sauna, also has LP fridge freezer, LP lights, wall heater, and cooktop stove. You will need to turn the valve on the LP tank. Minimum bedding and towels, so please bring your own pillow, sleeping bag and towels. The cabin is quite and remote and off grid. I have wood cut and stacked for the sauna and fire pit and there's wood in the cabin for the barrel stove.

Second story garage apt near Lake Vermilion. 35 miles from Ely; 14 miles from Cook; 14 miles from Tower and 5 miles from Fortune Bay Casino. Nestled in the woods, but not on the lake; within a few miles of 5 public boat launches providing access to Lake Vermilion. Local bar/restaurants close by. Private and serene, located on the second story of the home's garage. Private entrance with a deck. Room for boat and snowmobile trailers. Small dogs welcomed meeting some general criteria.

There is one king bed, and a couch that can be converted into a queen bed for an additional guest or 2 children comfortably.

Escape to the woods while staying close to town. Located just 10 minutes from Grand Marais, and nestled in 5 wooded acres down a long winding driveway is your own private slice of the North Woods. Enjoy easy access to Devil Track Lake, the Superior Hiking Trail, and all the fun of the Gunflint Trail, or just listen to the wind blow through the leaves and watch wildlife wander through the meadow. Our cozy guest apartment has a large living room, a bedroom, and a private bathroom.

The space
We are located at the end of a long gravel driveway - some guests have said "It's so quiet here it hurts my ears." It's also a fantastic space for nature lovers - with bears, wolves, and deer all seen in the yard. The guest apartment includes a spacious living room with a large stone fireplace, table and chairs, and two couches, as well as a mini-fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. There is a TV and high speed WiFi for rainy days. The inviting bedroom is cozy and will help you to rejuvenate while you’re on vacation.

A new, wood-fired sauna is also available for your use while you are up north. There are few things as wonderful as stepping out of the sauna at the end of a day filled with hiking or paddling and looking up at the stars.

There is a private entrance to the space, and the guest apartment shares no walls with the main house.

Guest access
Guests have access to all of the guest apartment and can arrange to make use of the sauna. Laundry can be done in the main house in line with our schedules. There is also a secluded fire pit outside that can be used (wood provided). We have a charcoal grill that may also be used as requested.

Bears Den is a beautiful studio suite in our main lodge. In the studio style it is one large room with a separately attached full bathroom. The living area is spacious with a love seat, recliner and a fireplace. The kitchen comes with a range, dishwasher, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, and all of the dishware, silverware, pots, pans and utensils you'll need to make this your home during your stay. Linens and towels are also provided.

The space
About The Resort - 83 years of history. Established in 1930 on 1,700 acre Elbow Lake in northern Minnesota. Elbow Lake Lodge has solidified its presence within the serenity of the Minnesota wilderness. Situated in Kabetogama State Park, the lodge has always been a destination for travelers and families looking to escape the lights and congestion of the metro area. Perfect for fishing, snowmobiling, kayaking and hiking, visitors come to be part of the outdoors.

Enjoy 800ft of sandy beachfront, pedal boats, paddle boards, kayaks, on-site mini-golf, playground, camp fire-pits, and a marina with fishing boat and pontoon rentals. Outdoor family fun abounds at Elbow Lake Lodge. **INTERNET & WORKSPACE**: We proudly offer Starlink internet for our guests to use during their stay. For those needing to get some work done while enjoying the North, we provide a foldable desk and chair. While not a fancy setup, it is practical for our small space and can be folded up and put away when not in use.

One bedroom cabin w/ living and kitchen area with trees separating the highway. Fire pit in yard with deck out the front door. {1 1/2 miles north of Orr}. No pets allowed. If you have a bigger group check out my other rental. It’s a short 5 minute walk from the cabin.
