- "We had a wonderful time staying at Paul’s place. Everything was clean and felt new. Paul was very accessible to answer any questions we had throughout our stay and was quick to solve any minor issues that we had, such as the golf cart not charging properly. We can’t wait to find an excuse to do another weekend on Copake Lake at Paul’s house." - "We had a wonderful family vacation and the owners were very gracious and excellent hosts. They thought of everything and we certainly made the most of our trip. Beautiful lake and lovely home!"

- "Nice" - "Very nice and clean room for a small business inn. The surrounding area has nothing open past 8 or 9pm usually but each room in the inn is stock with self-check out food and drinks. Would stay again! " - "We loved everything about the alander from the ease of communication to the design of the property & our room. We came to ski and will definitely return for a summer visit too!" - "At first glance, it appears to be just another old school, roadside motel. But how pleasantly surprised we were when we actually pulled in. The outside spaces were clean, updated and inviting and left us disappointed that it was too cold to take advantage of the firepit/seating areas. The rooms were equally well updated inside. Everything was clean and comfortable with a vibe that punched well above its price point. Check in and registration were all done electronically and was easy to do, although it was a bit disconcerting that there is no definite check OUT process. All in all, I could not recommend staying here highly enough."

Enjoy the amazing views of the Berkshire/Taconic hills, farms and valleys from our 3 story country home with floor-to-ceiling windows, pool, 4 BRs, and more. Set on 5 acres, we are 15 min from Great Barrington, MA, and 25 min from Hudson, NY, with great access to all the great Berkshire/Columbia County cultural attractions and outdoor activities for all seasons (skiing at Catamount is only 2 miles away). And all this just 2 1/4 hours from NYC and 2 1/2 from Boston.
While the majestic view will capture your heart, the house provides great space to enjoy family and friends, including a wrap-around outdoor deck (with dining table for 12), two-story living room with beautiful stone fireplace, screened-in porch, gorgeously designed pool, as well as exercise room with Peloton and weights, ping-pong-table, reliable wi-fi and much more. And with two primary (en suite) bedrooms as well as two other bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, a loft, a massive and wonderfully carpeted family room on the lower level, and outdoor coffee nook, it has space suited for everyone.
Of course the views from all parts of the house command attention, but the lay out of the house makes the experience particularly wonderful. You enter the house through a wonderful wooden, covered entryway with stained glass on either side and realizes (after experiencing the living room view) that this main floor has a residential wing to one side (3 bedrooms and two full baths) and the large dining room and kitchen on the other. With a separate primary bedroom and loft upstairs (including a spa tub), and the full family room (with floor-to-ceiling windows)/exercise area/laundry facilities downstairs, there is ample room to be together as a family or group or find one's own niche.
Beyond the bucolic setting of the house (which now includes both new and mature apple, pear and cherry trees), a remarkable range of places and activities beckon for each and every season:
- For outdoor enthusiasts, Catamount ski area and Taconic State Park (including Bash-Bish Falls-- Massachusetts' largest) are within 5 min, and the Appalachian trail, Copake Lake, quality golf courses (such as Copake Country Club) and hiking trails of all kinds are within a half hour, including the gorgeous alpine Guilder Pond;
- Cultural attractions within a half hour include Tanglewood, the Norman Rockwell museum, Jacob's Pillow the Art Omi outdoor sculpture garden, the W.E.B. Dubois birthplace and much more,
- Great restaurants, art galleries and small town dynamism in the heart of the Berkshires represented by Great Barrington and the Hudson Valley as felt in Hudson, NY, and other small communities.
And part of what makes it so special is that each season is distinct and worth savoring: internationally renowned summer cultural attractions, inspiring fall foliage, winter skiing (or curling up in front of fire), and spring's bucolic greenery.
In case it's not abundantly clear, we love the home and the area and know you will too. Go ahead and book now to enjoy all that both have to offer.
- "Everything about the home and hosts were beyond perfect. The kitchen is very well equipped. The views are spectacular . In short, it was amazing. Absolutely nothing could’ve been improved. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing home with us." - "Jackie is a great host, super clear and communicative and easy to get in contact with if there are any questions. Overall a great stay, amazing for groups - house had enough space for all of us, very well organized and well stocked in the kitchen and very clean."

- "From the moment we pulled into the driveway, we knew we had chosen the right place for our getaway weekend. It was incredible to walk through the door and immediately spot the gorgeous lake view. The kids couldn't wait to explore the house and choose their rooms. It felt like we kept uncovering unique surprises around every corner. Our hosts thought of everything and supplied so many thoughtful touches, from an inviting welcome basket to travel size toiletries in the bathroom cabinets. They were so responsive to any questions or requests and seemed to genuinely care about us enjoying our stay. We all truly loved the house, the lake, and exploring the town. There are too many great things to list, from the lovely sun room to the cozy fire pit to the perfectly placed Adirondack chairs overlooking the dock. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you might need, and the living room was so peaceful and comfortable. My daughter was particularly thrilled with the jetted tub in the upstairs bathroom, and the ping pong table was a big hit with my son. There were so many great spots for reading, and the beds were beyond comfy! "Little slice of paradise" is an apt description, and we would absolutely love to return someday! "

- "Great stay. The host was great with communicating directions and details for the home and even shared local recommendations. We appreciated their quick response to our questions, too. " - "I can't speak to the other seasons, but autumn is the perfect time to stay at this property. It is secluded and surrounded by trees whose leaves seemed to change every minute. There is plenty of space, so whether you are two people or six people, you are not on top of each other. The furnishings are simple and tasteful, the kitchen is equipped with everything you need, and there are three bathrooms. Javier and Julia were attentive via VRBO message to make sure we had what we needed. We stayed here because our best friends live less than a quarter-mile away; it was perfect for our needs. - "We wanted to get away together and enjoy some peace and quiet and do a little cooking. The kitchen was well stocked! The pond was being dredged while we were there so not 100% the quiet we were looking for. The owners we great to work with, there was a problem in the house and if we didn’t bring it to their attention it probably would have resulted in a larger issue for them, They were appreciative of our attention. The house is very comfortable and anyone who chooses to stay would enjoy!"

- "I really love this house. Clean, well-maintained, the kitchen's stocked with all the cookware and utensils that myself and my guests could want. The property is secluded and peaceful, the views are absolutely gorgeous, but at the same time it doesn't really feel like it's "in the middle of nowhere." Great Barrington nearby has plenty of restaurants, shopping, and entertainment, and we checked out a few hiking trails nearby as well. Alan's a great host, friendly and communicative, and his welcome booklet and notes left around the house answered most of my questions before they even came up. My second stay won't be my last!"

- "Our group of two families -- 4 adults, a three-year old, one-year old and 2-month old -- had a wonderful week at the Copake House. 2 adults and the small baby stayed in the upstairs wing, and the 2 adults and the two toddlers stayed in the downstairs wing, which allowed for the perfect amount of privacy for a mixed-family/group stay. The living and dining room plus two porches provided great gathering areas and ample seating to enjoy the gorgeous views. We enjoyed the pool with diving board and lawn chairs, huge yard, swing set, lake access and kayaks, and fire pit and smores. The hosts were very responsive to all questions along the way to help with planning and understanding available amenities. While the house and grounds are lovely in themselves, we also ventured out to rent a boat for an afternoon to cruise on Lake Copake with lunch from Copake Lake Boat & Ski snack bar; had a lovely family dinner at The Greens; enjoyed the beach and playground at Lake Taghkanic State Park; explored Great Barrington's cute downtown; and more. Lots of family friendly activities for all ages within a 5 to 30 minute drive. Copake General Store is perfect for sundries, like firewood, ice cream, coffee, prepared meals and more. Thanks to Nikki and Neil for providing our families the opportunity to make some wonderful summer memories. "

We all did yoga on the deck every morning, and the swimmers among us really enjoyed the lake. Thanks so much for a terrific vacation." - "We had a great stay at this house. To modernize, we had to say farewell to the old wood stove that was still inside. We replaced it with sleek new electric radiators that freed up space to include the kitchen we craved. Please note special provisions: there is no Wi-Fi, so count on using cel service for internet, be prepared to climb the small hill, BYO linens, and leave the house as you find it. In order to keep the cost appropriate for the space, we have only very basic sanitizing between guests and ask that guests leave no trace.
Guest access
Guests in Little Bliss have access to the woods immediately surrounding the cabin. The sliding glass doors open onto a porch for meals and leisure.
Other things to note
This is a leave-no-trace listing. Details to be provided upon booking request. Please no extra guests and no parties. The main cottage is far enough for privacy but close enough to cause disturbance if volumes are too loud.

Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley is a charming renovated cabin, brought to you with a fine modern finish in a classic upstate style. The cabin is located meters back from Copake Lake, the largest lake in the county of Columbia. We are 2 hours & 15 minutes drive North from New York City. The Taconic Parkway will lead you through a beautiful scenic drive, until you reach your perfect Upstate lakeside destination here with us. Don’t drive, no problem take a train & disembark at Hudson, NY.
The space
Set back just off the lake is our cabin, on a slightly raised elevation that provides great views of Copake Lake and the Catskills in the background. As a guest you’ll have proximity to all the amazing amenities offered by the area, as well as having a peaceful setting to enjoy the newly renovated and mid century furnished cabin.
Kick back & grill on the bbq enjoying dinner on our large deck while watching the sunset over the lake. It’s pretty ideal and very satisfying after a full day of hiking or being out on the water boating/jet skiing/kayaking/fishing or swimming in the summer months. The lake has a public access point however it is recommended to seek access via one of the two marinas. Please be aware, we do not own a dock. Something we hope to remedy in the future.
As mentioned earlier the property has just undergone a total gut renovation, so you’ll feel like you’re the first to stay here while also feeling utterly cozy and relaxed in comfortable surroundings. The wood burning stove being a feature I tend to be drawn towards at night. it is perfectly soothing and is most cathartic to sit by while the fire is crackling away and emanating a warm glow. The furniture of the house is sourced individually and all the items have history within them, being mid century.
The house has a deck, a lawn with a fire pit and firewood is included for the stove/pit. Starlink is provided for high speed internet connectivity. The cabin has a projector with an Amazon fire stick. We are one bathroom and kitchen. The living room is open plan with a lofted dormer for sleeping. This has a queen and a single bed. There is also a queen located on the ground floor for convenience if you don’t like climbing a ladder. There is a summer room, or porch/veranda depending on your vernacular. This seats 6 for eating and 4 for lounging. The kitchen is fitted out with modern appliances and the bathroom is brand new. We provide private off street parking for 3 vehicles.

The whole cabin is yours to rent. A cozy but open a space.

Renovated, art-filled cottage just 500 ft from Copake Lake. This 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house is also close to hiking trails, waterfalls, apple picking, & a winery in the fall, and in winter, there’s skiing at Catamount, and a distillery nearby. A house for all seasons!
Please note the house is 5 houses back and across a quiet road from the lake, and the dock is in the lake from the beginning of May to mid-September.
The space
The house is cozy (883 square feet) and is an original cottage with updated style. It was recently renovated with new floors, fresh paint, and a mini split air duct system for air-conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter. There’s an outdoor fire pit, a sunporch gallery filled with paintings and plants for your morning coffee or cocktail hour. It’s an ideal place to be all year round; in the winter, you’re just 8 miles from Catamount Mountain Resort, and there are several breweries and a distillery close by. The house is decorated with paintings that were made by the owner (oh hey that’s me, Eileen), who happens to be a professional painter. This is my actual house, my only house, and I just love it so so much. I take so much pleasure in hosting and making sure my guests enjoy the house, the proximity to the lake, and the area in general.
Once you’ve settled in at the house you can take the easy 500ft walk to the lake for a stroll around. The water is clear and shallow near the dock in the summer and the views from the shore are beautiful year-round. It is an absolutely wonderful place to be. There are two marinas that are a five minute walk in each direction. One has a window that sells food and drinks on summer weekends, and bands play there on summer Saturday nights. The other marina is currently just added a restaurant as well.
I have a dock on the lake with two kayaks that that are available for guests to use, and there are two more in my shed if you want to use those as well. Please note that the dock is located at the bottom of a set of stairs, so keep that a in mind if anyone in your party has mobility issues.
When you book the house, I’ll send you a list of my recommendations for things to do in the area right away so that you can start planning your trip. Then three days before you arrive I’ll send you a link to a guide to the house that will tell you more than you probably even want to know. I’m a planner and I like to know everything about a place before I stay there, so I designed the guide to answer every question that I would personally have before arriving at an Airbnb. Also, check-in and check-out times are pretty firm in the summer but flexible for the rest of the year, so let me know your travel plans and I'll do my best to accomodate you.
Here’s an quick overview of the vital stats of the house:
*Onsite Washer-Dryer
*44” HDTV with streaming and cable
*Wifi
*Air conditioning- a new mini split unit and a window unit in the bunk bedroom
*heat from both a mini duct system and a brand new propane furnace
*Echo dots all over!
*parking in my small driveway
*so many plants
*outdoor firepit
*private dock with kayaks on Copake lake from mid May-late September.
The dock is generally in the lake from early May to mid September. As I mentioned, I also have four kayaks that guests are free to use. I keep two kayaks down at my dock and two in the shed behind the house; there are also a couple of different sizes of life jackets in the shed.
Throughout the summer there will be a handful of weekdays when the lake gets a weed control treatment and swimming is prohibited for 24 hours. There are only a couple of those days but they aren’t announced in advance so I can’t let guests know beforehand, which is why I like to mention it here.
There’s plenty to do in the fall; the house is near Love Apple Farm and Fix Bros Fruit Farm for fruit picking and Sir William Farm for local meats. It’s also very close to High Falls, Bash Bish Falls, and other conservation areas for hiking and leaf peeping. The fire pit in the backyard will keep you cozy on the cooler nights!
For winter guests, the house is a 10-15 minute drive from Catamount and 35 minutes from Butternut. For those who are less athletically inclined (like me!) the house is 20 minutes from the Hudson -Chatham Winery and 13 minutes from Cooper’s Daughter’s Spirits at Olde York Farm.
A note about winter: there are heat registers in the floor, and I’ve been told that that may not be an ideal situation for crawling children, so I wanted to be sure to mention it here. Also the house has a driveway but no garage and that’s something to keep in mind for winter bookings. The house is on a small, private road, so while the main streets are generally well plowed, the 500 ft between my house and the main road can be rutted, icy, or snowy if there’s been a storm. I’ll definitely be in touch if winter weather is in the forecast.
One more note: my driveway is small and there is no garage, so it’s best if you only bring one car. Also, dogs are very welcome but I’m allergic to cats so unless yours is hyperallergenic, I can’t host them.
Speaking of allergies-- I don't recommend this house if you have severe allergies. It's always clean and well kept, but it's on the edge of the woods and has an unfinished crawl space underneath. Those things are triggers for some people with bad asthma/allergies, so please be advised.
I’m a pretty relaxed host and I appreciate guests who are the same. I have no weird rules! This is very loved house that has been the site of countless good times. It is also not particularly fancy! My cleaner Chrystal is absolutely wonderful and supports her daughters with her business. We welcome people who want to relax and enjoy the house, the lake, and the area, with the understanding that this is a sweet little cottage and not a five star resort. It’s perfect for me and I’m so happy that so many guests have been able to enjoy it as well. I’ll send a message three days in advance with the check-in details but beyond that, I won’t bother you unless something comes up that I think it would be useful for guests to know about, like a local event or a winter storm.
Guest access
There is a private driveway and the house has a digital lock for easy access and you'll have the run of the house. My driveway is small so it’s best if you only bring one car.
Other things to note
The house is about 35 minutes from the Hudson Amtrak train station. It’s easiest to get around by car. Once you are here you are in the heart of Hudson Valley and the west Berkshires. You can park in the driveway or parking area in front of the house.
If you‘re coming up on the train any don’t have a car, I have a few local Uber drivers who I recommend. Their phone numbers are included in my house guide; I’ll send you a link in your confirmation email and it’s also printed out in the house.
The are located:
- 15 mins to Catamount
- 30 mins to Butternut
- 10 mins to Bash Bish Falls
- 15 mins to the Berkshires
- 20-25 mins to Hudson
- 25 mins to Great Barrington
-55 mins to Jacob’s Pillow
-40 minutes to Tanglewood
Please note that this is not a secluded cabin in the woods; it’s a friendly lakeside community and the houses are quite close together, as you can see from the drone photos in the listing. My neighbor across the street has a small engine repair business so you might see him working outside his house.

Our light-filled, family-friendly farmhouse offers plenty of charm, a few quirks, and amazing views. With a mix of antiques + modern amenities, guests can gather for locally sourced meals at our big country table; enjoy books, board games, toys, and puzzles; take in the views and grill on the outside deck; visit local lakes, hiking/biking trails, farmers' markets and gardens; explore the area's rich cultural offerings -- Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, The Clark Institute, Mass MOCA and more.
The space
We fell in love with the Hudson Valley and this 1945 farmhouse. We are the 4th owners in its history and although our project list continues to grow (!) we are investing our Airbnb rental income back into the house over time. Upgrades include: lighting, new kitchen flooring, new washer, dryer, fridge, stove and a Bosch dishwasher; restored deck railing and landscaping, new bedding and linens and a newly renovated ensuite bath with radiant floor heating. This is not a cookie-cutter boutique hotel. If you are drawn to family-friendly homes with lots of character, potential, and beautiful views, then you will love this space!
The main floor includes LR with cozy wood-burning stove, DR, kitchen, half bath and the light-filled sunporch (with curtains) with a twin-sized daybed which becomes the 4th bedroom. Listed only in warmer months (April-October).
The porch also contains chess and dining tables -- perfect for views of the surrounding countryside. Kids (and early risers) love spotting deer, squirrels, cardinals, blue jays -- and the occasional turkey or ground hog. Croquet and badminton sets are located in the oversized planter on the sunporch.
The deck is just off the kitchen and is equipped with a grill and a smoker. Early morning coffee and happy hours are enhanced by birdsong. Fireflies at dusk delight kids and adults alike. Bistro lights (along with an overhead light -- switch inside kitchen) make for magical nights dining al fresco. The control for the lights is on the right back side of the solar panel.
Further down the hill is our play/relaxation area with zipline, ribbon gate, hammock, hanging chair, birdhouse tree and a fire pit.
There are two full baths and three bedrooms upstairs:
- the Green bedroom has a queen bed, a reading nook, and a newly renovated ensuite bathroom with radiant floor heating
- the Blue bedroom sleeps 3 with a double bed and a twin bed and also has a child-sized table and chairs
- the Red Bedroom has a queen sized bed, a comfy oversized chair and ottoman and a work space for extended stays (excellent wifi)
Air conditioners are provided in all bedrooms. There are also floor fans for each room and the downstairs living space. For sweltering days, there is an attic fan that helps circulate and remove hot air. The timer is on the wall of the Red bedroom.
Our kids love this house -- and so will yours. There is a full library for children (and adults), plus plenty of toys, puzzles and games. A rocking horse, plasma car and bouncing donkey. Bikes for the whole family. Marble run and ball pit. (A toy kitchen may be provided with advance notice.)
The house is perfectly situated to explore local sites. Summer/year-round attractions include: Lake Taghanic, Taconic State Park, Bash Bish Falls, Copake Iron Works, Catamount Aerial Park, Harlem Valley Rail Trail, Art Omi, MASS MoCA, Clark Institute, Norman Rockwell Museum, Olana, Berkshire Botanical Garden. Local antiques/gallery/fine dining destinations: Hillsdale, Hudson, Great Barrington, Lenox, Lee, Pittsfield, Sheffield, Rhinebeck and more.
Winter sports options abound: skiing/boarding/tubing at Catamount (15mins), Butternut (30mins), Bosquet (45mins), Jiminy Peak (50mins), & Berkshire East (1.5hrs).
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire home and grounds (with the exception of the basement and attic), plus use of the well-stocked kitchen and pantry.
We ask that guests use the grill, smoker, firepit and woodburning stove (in winter months) responsibly.
Before building a bonfire, please check to ensure local burn bans are not in effect.
We also use the space on occasion so there may be a few items in the closets but there is ample space for guests' items.
Other things to note
If you are drawn to relaxed homes with lots of character, potential, and amazing views, then you will love this space as much as we do! We fell in love with this 1945 farmhouse and are investing our Airbnb rental income back into the house over time.
The sunporch is the 4th bedroom with a twin-sized daybed and is only available during warmer months (April-October).
We welcome all members of your family -- including your pets! There is a pet fee to ensure a deeper cleaning after pets have stayed as we strive for an allergy-free space for those who are sensitive to pet fur/dander. Please note the yard is not fenced in.
This is a non-smoking property. If guests wish to smoke outside, we ask that you do not litter the grounds but safely dispose of remains in the trash. Fees may be assessed if additional grounds cleaning is required.
There are two security cameras on the property. One monitors the front door and the other is inside the basement (guest access to the basement is restricted) monitoring the exterior door.

A 5 min walk to Taconic State park, our home is set on a tree lined acre in Copake Falls NY. Taconic is home to a swimming hole & children’s pool, Bash bish waterfalls & countless hikes. There is also a stunning stunning bike trail that will take you through forests, farm fields and nearby towns. All this is within walking distance of us. Surrounded by rolling hills & towns such as Hillsdale, Hudson and Millerton, we love our home and its location in equal parts.
The space
- Having lived in NY, we understand that space and room to breath within a home can be a luxury. We have furnished our 1865 home so that it’s uncluttered and clean with a mix of MCM/ contemporary & vintage furnishings.
- The primary living space has a natural flow between the living and dining room as well as the kitchen.
- There are two additional sitting rooms upstairs where one can steal away to watch a movie, or read a book while the rest of your party hangs out in the main space.
- We renovated our kitchen in 2021, complete with a beautiful new stove and hand painted wood floor. It's so pretty and fully stocked with all you need to cook.
- And if you prefer to eat out, there are delicious restaurants and wonderful specialty grocers that make prepared foods nearby.
- Though both kitchen & bathrooms have been renovated, we have managed to maintain the original farmhouse feel though old plank hardwood floors, and original windows.
Guest access
You have the whole house and one acre front and backyards are yours.
Other things to note
- We have a nest just to the right of the dining room in the hallway. Feel free to adjust to a temperature that feels comfortable to you. If you are going out for a long stretch we'd appreciate it if you could turn the heat down to 60 as it doesn't take very long to heat back up once you get home.
- You can also connect to our stereo system through bluetooth
- Feel free to play our collection of vintage records on our record player.
- It maybe tempting but do not move our furniture around. We have a lot of fine pieces and several have been damaged by guests doing photo shoots etc. - Our home is a location for your gathering, NOT commercial or social media shoots. Don't stand on dining room or living room chairs as several have been broken. We appreciate you caring for our place as if it were your own.
