- "Mariella was a superb host that went above and beyond our expectations. She made amazing breakfasts and adapted skillfully for our dairy allergy so we didn’t even notice that a huge component of the normal breakfast menu was off limits. The breakfasts were a beautiful taste of the foods of the area and Puglia, and varied daily. She even had vegan croissants available for us every morning!! The food was so fresh, local, and tasty and lovingly prepared for us. It was actually some of the best food we had during our whole stay in Italy, and the fact it was included in our stay was an amazing value! The room and facilities were extremely clean and the bed comfortable. She gave recommendations on the best dining and destinations in the area. We HIGHLY recommend this property as long as you have a car, because it is outside town. It is a quick 5-10 minute drive to Polignano and within 30-60 minutes of numerous destinations, we couldn’t have picked a better base for exploring Puglia. It was nice that it’s outside the hustle and bustle of the town, it was quiet and peaceful, surrounded by countryside and ancient olive trees. We really can’t wait to go back to stay at the Casale Porta Contessa! It was one of the best experiences of our whole trip!"

A little hard to communicate with property owners father who didnt speak any English but what do you expect, we were visiting his country. The place was slightly smaller than expected for 2 adults and 2 older teenagers but we made it work. Mapping on the VBRO site did not take us to the correct location but owner eventually got us there. A few suggestions for the owner since we travel extensively and use VBRO exclusively: a hot water electric Kettle would be nice, a drying rack would help, if you wash your cloths in their washer you have nowhere to dry them, since you are staying in a beach town, beach towels would be nice to have, a small supply of coffee to start us off also would be helpful and also shampoo and shower gel. These are just suggestions, we loved the place and neighborhood. We would consider staying there again!"
