- "My family and I loved our stay at the beach house - it’s in a central location on the island to many hikes and attractions. There were days that we just hung out and found sea shells, walked along the private beach, watched seals and went paddle boarding (we rented an inflatable paddle board for the week). The property was clean and the kitchen well stocked with everything we could need for cooking." - "Beautiful views and beach walks from this well-equipped, clean and comfortable home. Check-in and out were easy, good communication with the host. Thank you, Joan!"

KEMA Cabin is a small rustic family oriented cabin, fronted by its own private yard. The cabin has access to a virtually private beach ideal for the exploration of tidal pools or just to enjoy the tranquility of the westerly vistas (beach access destroyed by land slide - new access being worked on). A large deck at the cabin front with table and umbrella serves as the 'hang-out' after the days activities are over. The cabin is fully equipped with all generally required amenities. Come and relax!
- "Enjoyed the private beach" - "My husband and I had a fabulous time. The cottage is so cute, comfy and well equipped. Loved barbecuing and overlooking the ocean from the patio....wasn't expecting such a lovely view from the property. Owner is super nice and welcoming. We definitely will come back to Hornby and we have found our little getaway cottage when there!" - "Comfortable….." - "I had a great trip to Hornby island this year and it all centred around my home base “Kema Cabin”. About a kilometre up from Shingle Spit Ferry and it’s a perfect cabin for one or two people that has everything you need including a comfy bed, a small kitchen with all the amenities and a hot shower with good pressure. The property does have WIFI but I found when I was using it I kept having to sign in if I moved around the cabin or deck but a really small complaint in the grand scheme of things. The private beach is across the street and down some custom built stairs and is really beautiful and very private and if you don’t feel like setting out for Tribune or Whaling station this a nice alternative that’s just a few minutes walk away. The deck offers a small view of the ocean that is a great spot for your morning coffee. I would recommend Kema Cabin for a couple or even if you’re on a solo trip. This is a peaceful home base where you’ll be comfortable before and after all your Hornby adventures!"

- "We had a marvellous time in this cute little cabin by the ocean. A daily swim, coffee on the beach and walks down by the shore became an easy routine. This place was a perfect get away for my family who loved spending time together either inside the cabin, or outside on the larger deck. Will be rebooking this place again sometime in the near future." - "Relaxing Holidays directly on the Pacific Coast in a well-equipped Holiday Home." - "The place was great with excellent view"

**** Guest are required to bring their own (queen size) bedding and towels *** and to takeaway the trash&recycling off property****Hornby Island has a fragile eco system and water supply - hanse these are common practices on Hornby
Forget your worries in this serene space. Magnificent views and a quiet neighbourhood will give you the downtime you are looking for. A vehicle is required to get around Hornby Island, however we have a general store, restaurant and scenic marina within a 10 minute walk from the studio.
We are ferry dependent so keep in mind the ferry schedule (both Buckley and Hornby Ferries).
The stand-alone studio is attached to the garage building and is 200 ft away from the main house. It has a raised queen size bed so you can take in the ocean view while relaxing in bed. A kitchenette with sink, fridge, microwave, induction cooktop, toaster, French coffee press and dishes is available for you to cook simple meals. The bathroom has a stand up shower.
The studio sleeps only 2 people, however in the summer we can accommodate 1 extra persons (in your own tent and sleeping bags) pitched on the deck or in the forest. There is an extra charge per camper per night - contact host for details.
The studio is equipped with a smart TV (no channels but Netflix, Prime etc are available). Board games and Wi-Fi also included.
The large kitchen window overlooks the spacious deck which has two chaise loungers, table and chairs and barbecue. Here you can enjoy the spectacular ocean and old growth forest views.
- "We had such a comfortable stay. Lina is an incredible host and the small apartment has everything you need to enjoy a week on Hornby. The large deck and bbq has views over local farmland, and south to the strait. A nice close walk down to Ford's Cove and a lovely trail to the ferries. Great value .. Thanks Lina" - "Clean little hideaway with easy walking access to trails. Lina is a friendly and attentive host at the ready to make your stay comfortable!"

Get away to Hornby Island, arguably one of the world’s most beautiful islands. Our home is an architect designed, full featured house with magnificent westerly views and surrounded by lush gardens.
Note to past guests: The following statement currently does not apply as a small landslide destroyed our current beach access and a stable new route is still under investigation - The house has access to our more or less private beach ideal for the exploration of tidal pools or just to enjoy the tranquility of the westerly vistas. Please note that we are a high bank property and that a number of flights of stairs must be taken to the waterfront with our deck.
Hornby Island is known for its beautiful beaches, its great hiking and mountain biking trails and the relaxed, artistic culture that is prevalent everywhere.
Most visitors enjoy Hornby during the summer months and it is perhaps a well kept secret that the best time to be on Hornby is anytime during the year. Even in the darker winter months the island offers wonderful relaxation potential and a plethora of things to do.
We welcome you during any season and hope that you will also come to love Hornby Island.

- "A serene and relaxing escape. Excellent accommodation and hospitality. Highly recommended." - "We enjoyed staying at the vacation rental at the end of the road overlooking the ocean." - "Beautiful place." - "This place is awesome! The apartment is beautifully designed and was super clean. We loved the large shower, the sauna and the ocean view. We could hear the sea lions from the living room and were followed by so many while kayaking. There a two bald eagles living in a tree next to the property, if you're lucky you can see them through the skylight right when you wake up. The place is very quiet, an ideal getaway for a couple or a single person when you're tired of the city. Robin was super responsive and kind and the place came with lots of helpful instructions on where to find what and how everything works. Bonus point: Their dog is super cute and treated us to many cuddles. Will definitely recommend to friends and family!"

Beautiful Bowser, B.C
Our luxurious one-bedroom suite is beautifully detailed with high-end finishes (i.e. full kitchen with stainless appliances, a large kitchen island with bar stools, a wrap around bench seat in the kitchen nook and a tea/hot chocolate/coffee centre for that perfect cup of java in the morning). The crisp white ship lap walls provide a coastal vibe that goes way beyond the usual seashells and sailboats. A seaside escape you are shore to luv, just steps to the beach!
- "The property is absolutely fabulous. Spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped and furnished with the added bonus of having a great outdoor space. The neighborhood was very quiet and tranquil in a short walking distance to the beach with stunning views. Cannot praise this stay more highly. Thank you Micky" - "These owners have put much effort into their VRBO property ! The inside is spotless! Beautiful, clean and decorated with peace and tranquility in mind ! We were welcomed with a bottle of wine, glasses and a hand written note. With lots of windows, it’s always bright and cheery ! Cozy couch with Netflix options beside a pellet stove (we didn’t use the stove, but this is a great option as sometimes, with the ocean breeze, evenings can be a little chilly!). The outside is beautifully landscaped ! Chairs and places to sit outside too. The kitchen was fully equipped with a travellers needs in mind ! (Tea towels, paper towel, cleaning supplies, spices, cooking utensils, even Saran Wrap/tin foil). I highly recommend this property ! Oh, the owners were easy to communicate with and replied promptly if we had questions !"

SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Is the suite private?
Yes. The Outlook is a large home with two separate suites, both have their own entrances. Each has access to separate sides of the expansive deck.
* The North Suite is currently rented long-term.
Is the Outlook on the water?
The ocean is right across the lane. Public beach access is a short stroll away.
Is the beach rocky or sandy?
Both! The area is known for its shellfish, some spots are very rocky, some parts sandy. Either way, you’ll love walking, exploring or if you’re up to it, running along the shore.
Is there a restaurant or grocery store nearby?
Ship N Shore pub and restaurant is at the marina, a 3-5 minute stroll away. Other eateries, grocery & liquor stores and a post-office are about a 5 to 10 minute drive away.
*Note the pub may shut down during some slower fall/winter months.
*You will need a car to stay in Deep Bay.
Are there neighbours? Or is the Outlook secluded?
Yes, we have very nice neighbours. Deep Bay is a small village on the water.
Is there free parking?
Yes! Open the gate and park in front of the garage. The garage itself is used as an artist studio and is closed.
- "This was our second time staying at this location. The first time was during a particularly rainy spring, so coming in the summer was a different experience. This time we could really make use if the beautiful deck and enjoy the view (the view is still great from inside when it was rainy). We could also enjoy swimming at the beach instead of just beach combing! The location is quiet and located far enough from larger centers to really slow down and relax, while still having the attractions of Coombs/Parksville close enough to enjoy. The hosts are communicative and thoughtful, they even had a fantastic dropped off because they thought we might be too warm (we didn't end up needing it, but it was thoughtful nonetheless). We had a wonderful family get away, and with two young kids we appreciate having no downstairs neighbours (especially when the 7 year old hurt her ankle the day before we arrived!)."

When you enter the cabin, you first see the dining room, lounge area with fireplace and stunning fully equipped kitchen (it has everything and more than you need and lots of cabinets for your groceries etc.). Very thoughtful that there is coffee, tea, spices and general items in one of the cupboards in the kitchen. There is a bedroom and full bathroom on the first floor, as well as washer and dryer, cleverly tucked away to look like another cupboard. It is all very spacious. There is also a seating area just off the kitchen by the stairs. This opens up to the huge deck overlooking the back garden. Upstairs you have a work area with a desk and another tv room, the huge master bedroom with amazing windows and an awesome bathroom - the shower is spacious and has a rain shower head with handheld. Again everything you could imagine you'd need (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) - hair dryer, cotton wool, ear buds etc. all neatly stored. The main bedroom leads out to the rooftop. I can honestly say that we loved every bit of the log cabin - beautiful flooring, lots of light (including natural), light switches all marked clearly, very stylish and comfortable décor, extremely well equipped and very clean! We feel very fortunate that we could be the first visitors to this stunning cabin. We will definitely stay there again when we visit Vancouver Island. Thanks so much for the very enjoyable stay."

- "We spent a week and had a wonderful time. The barn has been tastefully and thoughtfully renovated with everything we needed. The location was suitably remote for us (three ferry rides from Vancouver, but they were an enjoyable part of the trip) and we loved being right next to the beach and a short walk from 'four corners', which had everything we needed. The only slight issue was that the island's water is volcanic so it smells a bit although it is perfectly safe. However, the owners provided a 5-gallon bottle of water more was available about a 10-minute walk away. (We used two bottles in a week.) We are not golfers, so we did not take advantage of the golf course next door although we could have. But it provided a nice grassy area with two ponds, which just added to the charm. The interior was spacious and we took advantage of the outdoor patio, as well as long walks on the beach (at high or low tide). You can walk to the next big beach and the owners also told us about several hikes elsewhere on the island that we took advantage of. In summary, the place is lovely, the owners are delightful and we definitely recommend this property to others. Thanks for giving us such a wonderful break!"

- "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grassy Point Getaway. The house is within walking distance to Grassy Point for watching beautiful sunsets and central to everything else on Hornby. We enjoyed the beautiful artwork and artefacts throughout this lovely family home. Hope to be back!" - "Great accomodations. Our group of six had a great time on the property. " - "This was a great place to stay for having multiple bedrooms and enough space for our family plus grandparents. It was also less expensive than a number of other listings I looked at. The location is good, it was quiet at night (minus a few roosters early in the morning), and the kitchen was well stocked. However, the house is stuffed full of art, knickknacks, and furniture and is not suitable for children under 5."
