Located on Active Pass, the spectacular marine passage separating Galiano and Mayne islands, InTheBluff - Galiano’s Oceanside Log House offers one of the most stunning outlooks in the Southern Gulf Islands. The area is known for its strong currents, often turbulent waters and array of wildlife - look out to eagles soaring, seals, sea lions and otters frolicking in the swirling currents and orca whales in their natural element. Even humpback whales pass by regularly. We very much appreciate and encourage land-based whale watching.

InTheBluff is a very unique and wonderful escape, an artisan log home atop an oceanfront cliff and amongst over 6 private acres characterized by Garry oaks, Arbutus, Douglas fir and Cedar trees. The beautiful log home has all the modern amenities one could desire, including Wi/Fi & HD (antenna/smart)TV. Two bedrooms (each with queen size beds) offer comfort and separation. The master is upstairs with a private balcony overlooking Active Pass. InTheBluff very comfortably accommodates up to four.

The decks are stunning and feature an infinity-edge hot tub. It is difficult to imagine a more beautiful spot to be lounging in a hot tub! (A rainwater collection system is used for replenishing the hot tub and flushing the log house's main level powder room toilet.)

InTheBluff’s kitchen is well equipped, featuring an old style Heartland country stove and oven, microwave, toaster oven, and dishwasher. Cuddle in the living room by the Tulikivi (soap stone) wood burning fireplace, lounge on one of the the decks with a good book and enjoy some evening Netflix in the comfortable TV loft.

For the avid nature explorers, reaching the gorgeous ¼ mile long beach below is particularly convenient as the Matthews Point Beach Access trail is immediately adjacent. This is just the beginning though as the Matthews Point Regional Park Reserve, essentially an extension of InTheBluff, connects directly with Bluffs Park with its array of trials and vistas. Mt. Galiano is also linked by an evolving island trail system - remember your water, good hiking shoes and camera!

InTheBluff is a non-smoking, no pet retreat. We consider ourselves an un-official sanctuary for all local wildlife, most particularly deer and a huge array of birds. The property is perfectly situated for some of the best hikes the Gulf Islands have to offer or for just sitting back, breathing the fresh island air and taking in the stunning views any time of the year.

When reviewing our availability, please keep in mind that we are a full house rental, so our minimum stay is three nights (average is five to ten nights), and we do not accept bookings with single nights left between stays.

Serendipity is located on beautiful Galiano Island...It is situated on Whaler Bay, and is nestled amongst the forest and wildlife...It is a well kept 50's pan-abode log cabin, on the water with a beautiful view...Deer, racoons, otters and eagles regularily frolick through-out the property.

Quiet, serene, and comfortable, this little beauty sleeps two in the main cabin, but also has a guest cabin which sleeps two as well.....( this is an additional 50 pr. night, but can be negotiated for long term rentals).

It is walking distance from the main ferry terminal as well as the local shops and the Madrona which is a world class spa.

Because the water is collected from rain water and has been treated, there is bottled water provided for drinking. The tap water is used for dishes and showers.
Please limit your showers to a min. in the summer as Galiano is one of the driest gulf islands and water must be brought in by truck to the its not a problem in the winter, because of the rain.

There is no garbage pickup on the island so please take your garbage back with you. There is a compost to use for food scraps to help condense the waste.

Serendipity is a wonderful quaint and peaceful cabin that I know, you will enjoy and feel relaxed by the time you check out.

Other things to note
The 58” Samsung TV offers some traditional channels through an antenna as well as a selection of streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, Crave, HBO and Prime Video (availability rotates). The cottage also has a smart Nest video speaker equipped with a premium Spotify account.

The fully stocked kitchen has all amenities, including pots and pans, many small appliances (espresso, coffee maker and microwave) and some spices, oils, condiments, complete coffee and tea station and staples like rice and pasta. Dishwasher, gas range, microwave, double sink and ample cabinet and counter space allow for quick or full on meal prep. Light airy apartment located on a terraced, treed property near Ganges. Wake up to birdsong and sip your coffee or tea on the porch, then meander down to Ganges and the Saturday market along the Ganges Trail (20min), or drive your kayaks down to the beach in under 5min. This garden level suite stays cool during the hot summer months, providing a welcome oasis to replenish after island adventures. It's also cozy warm in the winter and is the ideal spot for a remote work getaway.

Out of respect for guests and neighbours, smoking or vaping anywhere on the property is strictly prohibited. The apartment is in a quiet residential area and your hosts live and work in the upstairs apartment with their newborn daughter, tri-pawed pup, and cat. Parties will not be tolerated. Note that while your hosts are quiet, the house is wood construction so there is some minor sound transfer between floors as is typical for wood built homes. Quiet time is from 10pm to 9am and extra effort is made during these times to minimize noise, though with a newborn there will be some sounds they cannot control outside these hours. They have never had a noise complaint from guests, but recognize that some people are more sensitive to sound than others and want to ensure your comfort.

Mackey Landing is a beautiful self contained 750 square foot suite. It is ideally situated for a quiet get away. It accommodates from one to four guests, children are welcome but please no pets. This suite has its own parking for one vehicle and a private entrance. There is additional parking available at the top of the driveway. There is a king size bed upstairs and a pull out queen sized sofa bed in the living area downstairs. It has a private bathroom with a shower and claw foot tub. A far infrared sauna is available for your private use. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, large toaster oven and induction hot plate. At Mackey Landing we provide all the essentials for a delicious self catered breakfast.
A wood stove adds to the basic electric heat and a wonderful window seat adds to your comfort and reading pleasure. Enjoy our large book and games supply also we have a WiFi connection.
Mackey landing is the first home on a private driveway off of Beddis Rd. It is only a 3km drive from town and a 15 minute walk from a public ocean access . It has bus routes available for town and the ferry terminals. The suite has two small covered wooden decks, one on each level and an outside private wooded sitting area which includes a barbecue and seasonally a lovely forest hammock. A laundry facility is available for visits over three days. Theresa and I live on the property and have called Saltspring Island our home for 35 years. We are happy to meet you for a visit, give you information about the island or respect your complete privacy while you visit. This is the home of an artistic family, all the art work in the suite is for sale and Ron's studio is open for a visit by appointment.

Come stay in our beautiful farmhouse in the lovely Fulford Valley, nestled between Mount Maxwell and Mount Bruce on 5 acres of farmland and forest. Family friendly and quiet, we have a fully equipped kitchen and a huge private backyard to listen to the birds. We're located steps from the lovely Salt Spring Island Brewery and have walking trails down to Burgoyne Bay park. Our property also has a free-ranging duck, several chickens and a large friendly puppy! Our place is perfect for children – just let us know if you would like us to set up a travel cot, highchair, change table or potty, and toys (we also have safety gates installed). We're surrounded by birds, flowers and lots of trees. It's the perfect peaceful retreat in both summer and winter.

You are welcome to use the yard, wander through the fields, or explore our forest. Please don't enter the chicken area without your hosts, but if you would like to say hi to them, come knock on our door! Our family lives in the front side of the house (separate access and everything) and we're pretty friendly! If you have children, you're welcome to use the sandbox and slide with parental supervision. We don't guarantee the backyard is 100% free of nettles but we do our absolute best!

We respect your privacy so we provide all our guests with fresh chicken eggs as well as other local breakfast ingredients for you to prepare. We also bake fresh sourdough for our guests when time (and our toddler!) permits. The water from the tap is safe to drink as it comes directly from the spring at the top of the mountain and then goes through both a particle filter and UV filter. It's the best water we've ever tasted!

Our family lives in the adjoining house, so we're available to help with anything you need, but do ask you stick to quiet times to respect our peace and quiet. We also have a large, very friendly puppy. You're welcome to interact with him if you would like, but you don't have to!

Please note that the bathroom is located on the second floor, up a set of stairs, and through the master bedroom, so the space is not suitable for those that cannot use stairs.

Our property is not impacted by the new short term rental rules in BC, due to our location on Salt Spring Island. However we do meet the requirements it sets, out of respect for it, as the space shares a roof with our primary residence (and we serve an a la carte continental breakfast as we are a bed and breakfast).

Pets: We generally do not accept pets due to the livestock on our property, however if you have a very well behaved animal, please reach out to us and ask – we assess on a case-by-case basis. Please note that we do charge a pet cleaning fee as we must do an extra deep clean to ensure the space is fur-free for the next guests.

The Eagle Suite is for the budget conscious. It’s warm, comfortable & clean with simple furnishings. Only minutes from town, the 600 squ ft suite has a living room, kitchen & bedroom. There’s tv & movies but the best entertainment is the view. In the evenings you can view star galaxies & early mornings, spectacular sunrises.
The space
This property is a perfect retreat if you’re looking for a quiet escape, away from the hustle & bustle of the city. Yet only minutes from the island’s many attractions.

There’s complimentary coffee & tea and all necessary staples.

Furnishings are simple. & functional. The bedroom has a queen size bed and there’s a fold up bed and/ or a pull out sofa bed for a guest. Please request this when booking

There’s also a tv, dvd and movies. . Lots of games and books too. In warmer months, the deck offers nightly starry skies and a breathtaking view.
If you are a restless sleeper ( hopefully not), head out to the deck to watch the spectacular sunrise.

Unfortunately , this is not a handicap accessible suite. The driveway is steep.

We like to keep guests comfortable and happy while keeping the price as affordable as possible. It’s simple not luxurious.

Eat your meals on the deck. Have an afternoon nap in the hammock. Get the best of it all in bright natural surroundings just a few minutes drive from Ganges. It’s not surprising that birds like nesting here too.

The suite is entirely self contained and is on the lower level of the house. It is not a basement suite. The upper suite is a long term rental.
Other things to note
We regret having to charge a cleaning fee. But none of these services that are normally included in the city, are free.
We pay extra for garbage and recycling and water taxes.

Located close to town but away from it all, the suite is surrounded by one acre of landscaped gardens and features a deck space, a hot tub, and a fire pit just outside of your door.
The Suite sleeps 2 comfortably. For longer stays, 1 person would be ideal.

Private entrance, European style bathroom separated by a privacy curtain and a large shower. There is a small kitchenette with microwave, toaster oven, cook top, kettle and bar fridge. The space
The converted attached garage comfortably sleeps 2 adults and one younger kid in a queen size bed and a sleeper couch (5'5" by 3''; thus, it is not perfect for 3 adults). It features a separate private entrance, vaulted ceiling with a skylight, a small private deck overlooking the yard, internet TV and a bathroom with shower. You can enjoy a chilled or warm beverage at your wet bar equipped with a bar fridge, kettle, coffee maker, microwave. Unfortunately, legally we are not allowed to provide a food preparation area and thus can’t offer a hot plate. Outside you have the opportunity to use our big BBQ.

You can directly drive up to the house. You have private access to the accomodation thru the red door (Access pin will be provided few days before your arrival).

You are very welcome to use our yard, including the fire pit (please bring your own fire wood, also there is an open fire ban from mid April to mid October).

Water is scarce on the Gulf Islands, please help to preserve.
In summer times open fires are not allowed on Galiano Island, please keep our neighbourhood safe.

We are at the top of a winding forested drive. On this protected land it is common to see deer, eagles and other wildlife. The attached guest suite has a private entry off a covered deck.

Our charming bedroom has a queen bed, sofa, bistro table and chairs and is close to beach access at Southey Point as in our cover pic.The bathroom has a newly installed shower, washbasin and composting toilet. There is a closet and an outside deck space. Although the space doesn’t have a kitchen, there is a fridge, kettle, coffee maker and toaster for the convenience of our guests and continental breakfast items are provided. We look forward to welcoming guests to this idyllic part of the world.

The space
Our cosy room is in a tranquil and restful setting on Southey Bay and two minutes walk to the beach access at beautiful Southey Point. Our cover picture is taken from the public access. We get the most amazing sunsets from there. We have a French style pétanque court which guests are free to use. You may become addicted and we have floodlights as we have been known to continue our tournaments until well after sundown!

Guest access
Guests have use of their own private bedroom with it’s own access. It is equipped with books and games and our pétanque boules court is available for guests to play a game or two. We have good WiFi and guests are free to use it. Login details will be in the guest space. There is little or no cell phone reception on our property but usually a walk along the road is enough to get limited reception.

Other things to note
We provide items for breakfast, such as yoghurt, fruits, granola, toast and jam, for guests to serve up for themselves. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements so we can try to offer suitable replacement food items.
We are strictly a no pets property due to family allergies and we have a no smoking and no vaping policy both inside and outside the building.

This beautiful old house, built in 1896, has been lovingly restored with all the modern conveniences while retaining the style of the era. The Captain's Room has a queen sized bed set in a comfortable space featuring forest views from the bright airy sitting area and a private bath. This guest room has a two piece bathroom with a full shared bathroom just down the hall. There is a separate breakfast room. Effective September 13, vaccination status as per provincial authority will be in force.

Homemade granola, coffee and teas are provided and fresh-baked croissants are available on request. We encourage quiet, discerning travelers to visit our family home and are dedicated to making your visit as pleasant as we can.

Guest access
Enjoy the view of the harbour from the lawn or your room. It's a 2 minute walk to the beach and a marina and pub is nearby for kayak and SUP rentals. It's a 10 minute walk to a restaurant, bakery, food store, book store, and liquor outlet.

Welcome to Raylia Sleeping Cabin, a sweet little romantic spot on a 12 acre organic farm on beautiful Mayne Island. My little cabin is rustic and warm, nestled in the woods. It is totally private , off grid, and uses solar fairy lights. There is a outhouse.
It is glamping at its finest. Right at the base of a beautiful mountain with amazing hikes. 5 minute walk to all amenities .

The space
The little cabin with a loft is set in a private little oasis down a forested pathway. Lots of fairy lights to give it a soft glow. Wake up to the birds singing and the smell of the fresh forest air. There is no water or electricity. Outhouse . Totally off grid. Bring your own camping supplies or use the great restaurants/ stores 5 minutes away. Drinking water provided.

The cabin is located 5 minutes away from a restaurant, coffee truck, and a great organic store.

A unique and spacious guest suite that combines the best of rustic outdoor living with essential indoor comforts.

Located in the desirable neighborhood of Vesuvius on our forested 3/4 acre property.

The space
Located on the lower level of our family home, the suite has a separate entrance to a private bedroom, a private cedar enclosed outdoor & unheated bathroom (with hot water and a clean and odour free compostable toilet), a private additional cabin/living area, an almost exclusively private large fully equipped kitchen with BBQ, a private outdoor dining area, and access to a private cedar sauna (we also use the sauna from time to time but grant full private use to our guests at any time they like).

Though physically located close together, the rooms are not attached and you need to walk outside to move between the different living spaces (the bathroom is just a few steps from the bedroom and has a covered walkway). As it gets very dark at night on the island, we have ensured that all spaces are well lit with nightlights and motion sensor lights. The terrain of our yard is uneven in some places, as such, our suite is NOT suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

We are incredibly respectful of our guest's privacy, but we want to ensure that all guests know and appreciate that our family lives upstairs and that guests will hear us moving around and conversing on the patio that is located above the suite. You may also see us working in the garden which is located near the suite, but not in front of it.

Guest access
Guests have completely private access to a spacious bedroom with a king sized bed, desk and sitting area, an extremely quaint and bright small cabin with a couch, desk and loft, a cedar enclosed outdoor bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet, and a beautiful cedar sauna!

Guests will also have private use of a large and fully equipped commercial kitchen, except on days when Dave needs to bake granola (typically twice per week and almost never on the weekends). On baking days, guests will be asked to grant Dave full access to the kitchen from approximately 9 am to 2 pm.

Guests are also welcome to use our laundry facilities which are located within our home.

Other things to note
All guests receive a free bag of Dave's Artisan Maple Pecan Granola, as well as complementary coffee, tea, cream and yogurt.

Guests visiting us in the winter months need to be aware that, on the rare chance that we have temperatures below -5 degrees celcius, there is a chance that the plumbing to the outdoor shower and sink may not work. If this occurs then you will still have access to the sink in the kitchen and we will give you access to a nice private shower with a private entrance in our main home (just upstairs). We also want you to know that, though winters on Salt Spring are generally mild, when storms occur we do sometimes experience power outages, road closures, and/or ferry cancellations. Should a power outage occur when you are staying with us, we will provide a generator for your electricity and heat and anything else you need. Though we will ensure you are well taken care of, we cannot offer refunds for your stay if any of the above conditions occur.

Private, tranquil room with ensuite is located in the lower level of my home on a quiet 5 acre property with lawn and gardens.

Decorated with unique artwork that reflects a love of travel, the open concept guest room features a queen bed, a double sofa-bed, dining set and attached bathroom with a clawfoot tub and shower, plus breakfast station (mini fridge, kettle, French press, coffee, tea, dishes, cutlery, cutting board, knife). My homemade granola and milk are provided on your first morning.

The space
Situated in my home on a peaceful and private rural property, your room with private entrance and ensuite offers amenities for a cozy, inviting and affordable stay on one of the most amazing islands of the Pacific Northwest.

The guest room has forest views and overlooks a fishpond surrounded by rhododendrons that bloom in the spring. Birdsong and frogs croaking can be heard throughout the day, and you may even see some of the resident deer wandering by.

Guests have access to the meadow lawn where one can relax while taking in the big sky and surrounding forest views. Chairs, a small table and picnic blanket are provided.

The home is just a short drive from local beaches, hiking trails, St. Mary Lake, the golf course, resaurant, farm stands and a winery. Salt Spring Island’s main town, Ganges, is a ten minute drive away - here you will find unique shops, art and craft galleries, restaurants, and the famous Saturday Market. Ruckle Provincial Park, the Fulford Valley and the Salt Spring Cheese Shop are all approximately thirty minutes away by car.

The room is then accessed through a hallway that I do not use when I have guests.

Parking is available right beside the entryway.

The space
This quiet and serene house on three private tree-covered acres is perched at the end of a steep and winding gravel driveway high above Ganges, but is only a quick 4-minute drive into town.

You will have your own private and almost completely self-contained garden-level suite (500 sq ft), which comes with a self-serve breakfast, and includes:

- a spacious and comfortable bedroom with a large picture window looking out on the garden, with glimpses beyond of Galiano Island, Howe Sound and the North Shore mountains
- your own separate entrance, a private patio overlooking the fenced-in back yard, and parking
- a "breakfast bar" and dining area (with microwave, toaster-oven, toaster, hot plate, kettle and small fridge) which will be stocked with healthy local ingredients and equipment for making your own breakfast in the morning, or to warm up/prepare your delicious purchases from the island's markets and farm stands -- and we'll handle the washing up for you!
- a cozy private lounge area with a sofa-bed, smart TV (with built-in Netflix), and a collection of books and games
- a powder room (toilet and sink)
- your own large private *outdoor* shower with a view of the garden, and glimpses of distant ocean and mountains!
- brochures, maps and information about Salt Spring's many attractions and dining options

Guests are also welcome to use the hot tub on the deck upstairs with its serene views, surrounded by greenery -- bath robes and towels provided.

Guest access
You'll have access to your own private suite, and to the outside areas around the house (garden, patio, private outdoor shower), as well as to the hot tub on the upstairs deck.

Other things to note
LIMITED KITCHEN FACILITIES: While Hillside Hideaway offers you lots of privacy and space with your own separate entrance, it is more a bed & breakfast than a self-catering vacation rental -- the "breakfast bar" (kitchenette) has no sink for washing dishes (we will do your dishes for you), and only a small bar fridge for storing any additional food items/drinks brought by guests. Please refer to the House Manual (available once you book) for more information about the breakfast ingredients provided. A list of restaurant recommendations on the island is also provided upon arrival.

QUIET HOURS are from 11pm-7 am. Please bear this in mind if you are thinking of staying at Hillside Hideaway with small children, or if you're night owls -- your hosts live (and sleep) directly upstairs, and we encourage you to respect the peace and serenity of this secluded location.

CHECK-IN is from 3pm-10pm. Requests to check in outside these times can sometimes be accommodated, but should be made well in advance so your hosts can plan accordingly.

Please note that the suite only has an OUTDOOR SHOWER (very private with abundant hot water from a "rainfall" shower head and views out onto the garden).

Guests contemplating arriving by bicycle or on foot should be aware that it is a VERY LONG AND STEEP climb (260 m elevation) up to Hillside Hideaway!

FERRY RESERVATIONS made well in advance are highly recommended if you're bringing your car from the mainland (Tsawwassen), especially in summer and on long weekends.

There is a guest parking spot right beside the carport, as well as room for an additional car if necessary.

We have a sweet little playhouse in the side yard for your children to enjoy.
We are close to many forest walks, the free disc golf course, (we have discs in the suite for your use), and many ocean access points a few minutes drive away. There is a park and playground at Shingle Bay, a few minutes drive away.

The space
There is a private entrance to the lower level of our home. You will have a separate bedroom with a queen bed, a kitchenette with everything you need, except the kitchen sink! We will do your dishes for you while you relax or enjoy the island!

The common area contains a comfortable seating area with a TV with Netflix, a DVD player, and an HDMI cable. There is a murphy queen bed to use in the common space if needed, as well as an eating area. A private patio, barbecue and hot tub awaits.

We provide coffee made with an in-suite kuerig-style coffee maker, tea, cream, sugar, fruit, and some snacks.

Our Cleaning Protocol
Besides our routine cleaning, we are cleaning and disinfecting all high-touch areas, such as light switches, door handles, kitchen appliances, blinds cords. All linens, including duvet covers, are freshly laundered beween guests. Hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and disinfectant spray is provided in the suite.

We have a book containing all the information you need about the suite and lots of information about amenities and places of interest on the island. We sanitize this book before our guests’ arrival.

After we have finished cleaning and disinfecting, we will not enter the suite again. However, we do enjoy greeting you outside on your arrival.

The cottage is located at 66 Burrill Road, on Galiano 's South end. It is a 10 to 15 minutes walking distance from the ferry terminal, shops, galleries, eateries and spa, and forest trails begin around the corner. Visit the charming Bellhouse park at the foot of the narrow Active Pass, where Orca whales are often sighted, on their passage to their destination.
