There are three formal bedrooms as well as sleeper sofas on the enclosed porch and in the library. There is a 65" TV in the living room and a 55" TV in the library, with Bose surround sound. There are many special sites within driving distance to include Seven Springs, Hidden Valley, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob, Flight 93 Memorial, and Ohiopyle State Park (with whitewater rafting) as well as Bedford Springs Resort and Spa.
- "We stayed as a family of 4 for a ski weekend and had an incredible time! The house is absolutely lovely, with charming touches and the historical elements intact but modernized throughout. The kitchen has everything you could need (who has actual non-stick pans that are still non-stick in a VRBO?!?!?), the beds were very comfortable, and the living room with fireplaces and library were great places to watch a movie together or grab a quiet place to read. The hosts were excellent at communication, and it was very easy to check in. All in all, we will definitely stay here again next time we go skiing at Seven Springs."

Recently renovated to add a master bath, laundry room, and create a kid friendly indoor treehouse out of attic storage space in the bedrooms, Mountain Grove is relaxing and fun during the fall, winter, spring or summer. Located in the heart of Laurel Highlands in a little neighborhood of Conservation Civilian Corps cabins less than one mile from Kooser State Park and nestled between Hidden Valley, Seven Springs and Laurel Mountain ski resorts, this family and pet friendly cabin in the woods has everything you need to enjoy an outdoor getaway. Travelers have enjoyed this cozy home in the mountains as a solo rejuvenating escape for 1, getaway for 2, a family vacation, or a get together with friends/extended family.
Nearby attractions include hiking, biking, skiing, fishing, golfing, star gazing, bird watching, restaurants, spas and more. Enjoy the many trails and ponds nearby at Kooser (2 minute drive), Laurel Hill (7 minute drive) or Forbes (12 minute drive) State Parks. Bike the GAP trail at Rockwood just 15 minutes away. Check out the local resorts for food, golf, spas, ziplines, mountain biking, special events, skiing and more at Hidden Valley (5 minute drive), Seven Springs (17 minute drive), or Laurel Mountain (30 minute drive). Peruse the local towns of Somerset (15 minute drive), Ligonier (30 minute drive) or Ohiopyle (34 minute drive) for restaurants, shopping, white water rafting and trails. Local attractions also include Idlewild, Caddyshack, Living Treasures Animal Park, Laurel Caverns, Jennerstown Speedway, Fort Ligonier and more! Glade Pike Winery tasting room is just up the road with live music on Saturday nights as well. Check out laurelhighlands.com for more ideas.
Even though you will feel like you are in the middle of the woods in a peaceful setting, if you forget anything a gas station/convenience store is only a 2 minute drive away and a grocery store is only a 20 minute drive away. Once you settle in, you will enjoy a cozy, traditional cabin in the woods with spacious front deck, outdoor combo bonfire/grill (Charcoal or wood for cooking or simply relaxing. One bundle of wood is provided to start your vacation, but there are places nearby to purchase charcoal or more wood.), gas fireplace, and indoor treehouse for kids ideally ages 6 - 12.
Kids love climbing the stairs next to the tree mural because it feels like they are climbing into an indoor treehouse with repurposed wood accents on the walls. As you walk in, you will see a mini window above the kitchen area, so adults in the kitchen or living room downstairs can hear the kiddos playing upstairs or opt to close the window so the kids can sleep while parents still hang out downstairs. The creates a fun, spacious cabin for families.
Excellent WiFi service will help you stay connected to friends, family, and work (Gasp! Only if necessary...you should be relaxing!) or allow you to finally binge watch that series you always wanted to see.
A variety of games, cornhole on the front deck or in the yard, and the bonfire pit that can be used as a grill with wood or charcoal will help you stay entertained and unplug from screens too!
3 bedrooms and 2 baths accommodates a maximum of 8 people and 2 well behaved, house trained dogs. There is an additional $30 per night pet fee when fur family joins you at the cabin. Please be sure to check the pet box when booking to pay during your reservation, or you will need to pay it before your arrival.
If you have additional people or pets in your party, please message to inquire about also renting Blue Mountain Retreat (with terraced backyard including hot tub, bonfire circle, picnic table and gas grill also accommodating up to 8 people. See vrbo.com/3579454 ) adjacent to Mountain Grove. Multiple families have enjoyed renting both cabins for relaxing family reunions or birthday celebrations.
The location off of 31 makes it easily accessible year round, but far enough off the road to be peacefully tucked in the woods. A limit of 3 cars per cabin has to be maintained because there is no overflow parking available nearby (AWD or 4WD vehicles during the winter months of snow are required for ease of access). Visitors should be accounted for in your reservation.
We cannot wait to host you! Feel free to reach out with any questions about additional attractions or inquiries.
- "I decided to get out of the NC heat and decided to spend 3 weeks in PA’s Laurel Highlands. The decision was a good one given the access to a wide variety of outdoor activities. As a base of operation I wanted a place that was quaint, rustic, and slightly off the beaten path with modern conveniences and connectivity. Mountain Grove checked all the boxes. The kitchen was well equipped and the internet was excellent. It would be a great place to work remotely Then there is Lisa, the owner/host. I have stayed at VRBOs all over the country and have never had a host as conscientious, responsive or as pleasant. She’s a gem. Obviously I highly recommend the Highlands and I couldn’t be more superlative about Mountain Grove"

- "We stayed here last year and loved it so came back for another great weekend! It is a large house, very clean and nice, had everything we needed. The kids enjoyed the basement game room. We loved the hot tub after a day of skiing. The owners are nearby and made sure we got situated. Highly recommend this home" - "Our extended family stayed at this property over the holidays and had a wonderful vacation! The house is beautiful and the owners were very kind and helpful during our stay. The property is incredibly well maintained with everything you could need. We spent our days skiing at Seven Springs, which was very convenient, and hiking in the state park. I would highly recommend this for a family vacation. The only negative was the lack of internet and cell phone service, which the owners clearly state in their description."

- "Great cabin for a ski weekend at Seven Springs" - "We all felt really comfortable at this house. All the beds were great! We used the wood burning stove in the basement. We also used the smart TV’s. The location was perfect to Seven Springs for a weekend of skiing. We were even able to spent an extra night." - "We stayed for a holiday weekend ski trip at Seven Springs, conveniently under 10 minutes away. The cabin is basic, nothing fancy, but perfect as a crash pad after a day on the slopes. The downstairs bedroom is open into the communal area and not really a bedroom. There is a fold out table with stools in the kitchen, but no dining area. I’m glad my teen boys thought the basement was cool and didn’t mind sleeping there, because personally the downstairs was not inviting for me as it had a dungeon-like vibe and there was a large container of wood for the wood stove by the bed, and I am not fond of spiders. Maybe a lid on the wood box would have made me feel more comfortable."

Welcome to The Burrow!
This 4 bedroom, 3 bath chalet is located on almost 2 acres right off the main road within minutes of the Hidden Valley Resort entrance. A picturesque chalet, hidden amongst the trees and ready for you to leave your worries at the door and relax.
With plenty of space for 8 people to find 'their spot', whether next to the fireplace looking out the sliding glass doors at mountains, by the smart tv with your favorite show, or cooking your go-to meal in the spacious, fully stocked kitchen! It doesn't get much more 'mountain ski chalet' than this! Tucked just off the main road, the goal of this 2700 sq ft chalet is to balance the spaciousness with the cozy feel you want in a chalet. Our living room is the perfect spot for a book or card game by the fire. Off the living room there is an office/bedroom with a memory foam futon and its own bathroom leading out to the airy sunroom with a swing and plenty of windows.
While we have some great food recommendations in the area, one of our favorites is a home cooked meal and this kitchen is stocked with all the cookware to handle it! What's a home cooked meal if you don't have a dining room table to fit everybody?! Don't worry, we have that covered too. In the huge sunken dining/ tv room there's a dining table with room for everyone and their elbows while the other half of the room features a spacious couch and chaise along with a 65" Roku Smart TV equipped with HBO Max.
The master suite is hard to simply show in pictures! It has a king size memory foam bed, a 43" Roku smart tv, a reading area then its private bathroom features three skylights, a rainfall shower and a soaking tub. There are two more bedrooms on the second level sharing a bathroom that each have their own memory foam queen mattress. One of the two bedrooms has side room that's set up to be the perfect 'Work Away From Home' office (with our 162 Mbps wifi) but can also work great as a sleeping space for little ones.
The driveway is fairly steep. It is plowed but take caution going up and down the driveway and street. Four-wheel drive is recommended in the winter months.

Most of the time there are not pesky insects outdoors but we cannot predict or control when nature decides their emergence.
- "We had a wonderful time here for our trip to Seven Springs Resort. It was only about 18 minutes away! The house was spacious, clean, and cozy. This is a perfect space for a large group! We will definitely be back next year!! Thanks again :)" - "This place was perfect for our Family of 9! It was quick and easy to find as well as checking in and communicating with host. Entire house was clean and well maintained. Definitely would stay here again!"

- "This place had so much space for my family and room for rhe kids to play and enjoy nature. Will definitely be back." - "We just needed a weekend away with our teens at the end of spring break. The place was a cut above. I've seen this level of well appointed in super high end mansion cabins, but never in an affordable cozy family place before. The only thing we wanted for was butter (because we forgot to bring it.) Nice fully functional kitchen. Super cozy family room. Three lovely bedrooms. Generous towels. We discussed the why's and how's. We decided that the reason it is so nice is not any one thing - it's just a lot of paying attention to details, and caring how they come together. Example: The fire pit was tarped to keep the rain out until we wanted to use it. But also, Mary provided a bin full of kindling and a stack of good dry wood. But also...Probably people will want to toast marshmallows, right? So... 4 extendable marshmallow toasters, not the kind that break the first time you use them. The whole house is full of details like that. If you stay, please treat it well so we can all continue to have nice things. :)"

- "We had a great time and it is a very convenient location to get to both Hidden Valley and Seven Springs. The owner was very helpful especially when there was extreme cold." - "Extremely cozy and well stocked. Everything was perfect. We did not explore much due to rain but the cabin was perfect for a weekend in with friends. Will return!" - "Nice property and great location to ski resorts." - "Here are all the words that came to me as my family and I enjoyed Christmas at Rockcliffe Cottage: serene, scenic, cozy, picturesque, quiet, beautiful! The online pictures of this cottage do a great job in putting a spotlight on the property. And while the pics are beautiful, they don't really speak to the deep feeling of coziness that is awaiting you the moment you open the door....actually the moment you drive up to it! I am certain that you can explore more of the landscape and the natural surroundings in the spring and summer, but wintertime......is magical!!! I can't wait to visit again!"
