We live on a small farm 10km outside of Lydenburg. One end looks up the beautiful mountainside, other overlooks the breath-taking Long Tom Pass. Enjoy the quiet and gorgeous countryside. Some famous attractions are relatively close by, such as Dullstroom (45km), God's Window(90km), The highest brewery in Africa (20km) and the magnificent Kruger Park (120km).
This is a good spot for a quiet weekend, a stop-over on your journey or as business accommodation for easy access to the mines in our area.

The space
From your lock-up garage you walk directly into the house and straight to your room and en-suite bathroom. (an extra-safe option for the security conscious!) My husband, Paul and I stay in the next door room, but in this massive farmhouse you'll hardly notice we're there.
Your bedroom offers a queen-sized Sealy Posturepedic mattress and plenty of pillows to ensure a good night's rest and more than enough cupboard space.The bathroom is well-lit and roomy, with a toilet, basin and wheelchair-friendly shower. We also provide soap, shampoo, conditioner and fresh, fluffy towels for your convenience.
Just outside your bedroom you will see our lounge area which sports a TV with access to Netflix for your entertainment. Although the space is rustic, we do offer free WiFi and there is good cellphone signal for all networks due to our cell tower booster.
We use filtrated borehole water, fresh from the earth and have a generator available for when power cuts take place - convenient for business travellers and comfortable for leisurely tourists too!
A glass sliding-door leads to your private garden space. Here you can enjoy the fresh air and listen to the birds without interference from our dogs. (ie. your personal body guards!) Do bear in mind we have 5 friendly and well-behaved dogs. Even so you can avoid them if you prefer. Please give us a heads up if you are at all worried about the dogs and we will take special care to keep them at bay.

Khaya Mandevu is a quirky old farmhouse from the 1920’s, situated on a fish farm in mountainous and malaria-free Schoemanskloof. A covered verandah overlooks a dam below, there's a small dip pool for cooling off and a beautiful stretch of river close by with huge Matumi trees. Marked hiking trails extend from river to mountain top, with indigenous forest in 2 gorges, waterfalls, cascades, and archaeological sites to explore. The spacious old home, in it's own private garden, is newly renovated providing the perfect combination of historical South African homestead and modern living.

The house boasts 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Each of the spacious rooms has a queen-sized bed, large built-in cupboards and a desk . The first lounge leads off a long front verhanda. There is also a large living room with a smart TV, loungw,fireplace and dining area. The kitchen is fully fitted with all basic amenities.

The bedrooms and communal living areas are spacious with many options of where to sit and relax or work(privately in your bedroom) or in one of the other spaces.

The property is fully serviced. Longer term guests in town for work may request to lock and leave, if they want to go home for a few days or take advantage of many of the tourist sites in the area.

Stone Cottage has its own entrance and is situated on a hill overlooking the estate and surrounding areas. This secure lodge has electric fencing and solar power. The cottage is serviced daily. Enjoy free parking and Wi-Fi. Touring the Panorama Route from Stone Cottage is along sealed roads and the scenery is breathtaking. For those guests from Gauteng wanting a great half-way stop to the game parks further north, this lodge is ideal as it lies midway – just 2 hours to the Kruger National Park.

Access to the main property is through motorized electronic gates and the Stone Cottage is on the main property with its own private entrance.

The Hosts live on the property and assistance is available at all times. Fly-fishing, is available on the property. Equipment can be hired and tuition is available at a fee. Stone Cottage is fully equipped for self-catering and the lodge offers excellent meals by prior arrangement. Fully licensed.
The water is safe to drink. Firewood is for sale or bring your own.
