You will need to receive a code from the hotel to enter the estate and drive/ride, slowly for approximately 2 miles to get to the lodge. Along the way you will pass warthogs, kudu and impala…one guest told me he saw giraffes also. Frank greeted me and registered me at checkin. He showed me around the lodge and took me to my AMAZING room in the Monkeythorn building. My room was stunning. I had an incredible massage, given by Maria. I would highly recommend her. At breakfast, Vote, served me with incredible warmth, conversation and a smile. I wish I could remember all the names but everyone was amazing. It is unusual to find a place of this caliber anywhere in the world like this. It is a ways from Kruger National Park, so allow an hour or ninety minutes to get to the gate. hope to return someday."

All the staff were friendly and polite, and the game drives were both knowledgeable and enjoyable. We did four game drives with Peter, which were exciting adventures as we searched for animals. Also, Lux and Henry were great and knowledgeable. The food was delicious, and everything was well-organized. There are a few areas that could use some attention and improvement: -The outdoor restaurant was difficult to enjoy during our stay because of windy and cool weather. It would be helpful if they provided heaters for such conditions. -During the buffet, I noticed some guests refilling their plates without using new ones, which could pose a hygiene risk, especially since many guests were coughing and sneezing. -It would be great if they offered hot drinks like cappuccinos or lattes. When I asked if I could buy one, I was told they didn’t have any, though a coffee machine could easily provide this option. Use eKhaya Bush Villa as your base to then explore both Kruger National Park and the canyon area. My individual experience: To put it mildly, my trip to both Cape Town and Johannesburg did not go well. I had intended to stay at eKhaya Bush Villa two nights but stayed four instead because it became my oasis of tranquility and beauty. I don't know how old the place is but everything looks BRAND NEW. Claire, the owner, is a hospitality goddess. Truly. Hearing of my unpleasant experiences, she bent over backwards to make me feel at home and she helped me salvage my vacation (my experiences in Cape Town and Johannesburg were so bad I was thinking of flying home to the U.S. early). I am a HUGE fan of Claire and eKhaya and you will be too. The rooms are very spacious, the beds very comfortable, the bathrooms very large, the grounds are beautiful, the food is good and the staff friendly and helpful. AND it's in a secured estate so you are 100% safe. Don't miss it!"

In the main house, the infinity edge swimming pool has the most insane view of the mountains. You can choose to have your meals inside, outside, next to a fire pit or treat yourself and eat in the wine room. Unfortunately, im not a wine drinker, but the wine room was amazing. I genuinely cant say enough about how amazing this place is. The local area has lots of great activities, we visited Jessica The Hippo and a Hot Air Balloon ride both of which I highly recommend. If you are thinking of a trip then this is the place to stay, I promise it wont disappoint. The only thing I would mention is the long driveway, Id highly recommend a higher car, but we did manage in our saloon car. On the drive up we saw giraffe, so please stick to the speed limit, as they come out of nowhere. To sum it up, the best place I have ever stayed."

A rustic Mountain Lodge on hectares of private forest for only your party, no other guests or staff. The space
Your party will always be the only guests at Alkantmooi which consists of two adjacent chalets. The Maroela chalet includes an open plan living area and kitchen. A spacious main bedroom with Queen size bed and single bed, then an adjacent smaller room with two single beds. A daybed in the living area makes it possible for 5 guest to use the Maroela chalet. Two wooden decks with beautiful views, one extending the living area, and one extending the main bedroom. The shared bathroom with a bath is situated between the two rooms and an additional bathroom with shower is accessed from the outside. The third bedroom is in the adjacent Tambotie studio cottage with its own on-suite bathroom and kitchenette.
You have exclusive access to our little forest-spash-pool filled with cool mountain forest water, somewhat like your childhood cement farm dam feel.
CAMPING: We could also arrange further accommodation for self-camping on our camping terrace with electricity powerpoint and water tap. The terrace is next to the chalets for your tents, or bush-trailers.
If you would like to only camp let us know and you may book the equivalent of one guest in the cottage and have the camping space for up to six people. It will still be only your party on the whole property. You will have access to the bathroom and kitchenette in the Tambotie cottage.

The whole Alkantmooi complex is for your exclusive use which include the Maroela Chalet, the Tambotie Cottage plus the garden and braai/barbecue area.

Access Path: Your host will meet you at the security gate of the area to welcome you at arrival. From the main road security gate, our entrance path is a one kilometer roughly cemented bush-path up-hill to Alkantmooi. This helps to give Alkantmooi privacy, security and the magnificent view from above. The path can be negotiated by sedan vehicles but a vehicle with slightly higher road clearance would be ideal.

Relax with peace and quiet at this hidden away gem, on the Banks of the Blyde River. Once a year home to the elusive Narina Trogen nesting in the trees that canopy this unique spot. Lazy days can be spent down at the river, picnicking. Evenings are enjoyed by a quick visit from the local Bush pigs (very rare) on their evening foraging route.
Kruger Park (Orpen Gate) is a mere 60km away and on our door step are many other special places to visit like the Blyde River Canyon.

The space
The beds are interchangeable so you can have 1 x king bed or 2 x 3/4 or 4 x 3/4 depending on your requirements, we are flexible.
The sleeper couch is of high quality and comfortably sleeps two.
This unit is high up in the tree tops and is built onto of a lower unit (which we ideally will not let out to other guests should the top unit be occupied)
The outside braai area is large and has an outside toilet. The river runs through the bottom of the property about 40m away. The reserve has a diversity of wildlife which you will enjoy ranging from zebras, impala, kudu and Bush buck. Please note these are all wild animals.

You are welcome to freely roam the Lot: 63 property, the only place off limits will be the main house and stoop.
You can enjoy a walk down to the weir next to Lot:63 and along the main road within the resort.
Please do not enter any other property on the reserve.

Other things to note
The Self catering units are adjacent to the main house. There is one person living in the house so it’s very quiet. However should you have kids and we know kids can be loud when having a good time this is more than welcome!

The Loft is situated in the beautiful, secure Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate with awesome views of the Drakensburg escarpment.
