We are less than an hour's drive north of Winnipeg along highways 7, 8 or 9 with pavement access to our gated property driveway.

The cabin is equipped with a lofted double bed accessed by a ladder. We provide kitchenware (cutlery, dishes, pots, pans, French press, BBQ utensils, etc..), potable bottled water, a propane indoor regulated stove top, as well as an outdoor gas barbeque.

We provide firewood for outdoor bonfires as well as cut/split wood for the indoor woodstove. (Unless Burn Ban in effect)

Bring your pillows, bedding, towels, food and beverages. Being off-grid with a minimal solar power system, there is no refrigerator; please bring a cooler.

There is a small solar system to light the cabin, power small appliances, and charge your devices and a Cubic Mini Woodstove to combat the cold. The micro-cabin has an eco-friendly filtered rain-water collection system with gravity flow shower and wash basin. The water is as warm as the sun can heat the black barrel! The site features solar lighting, picnic table and fire-pit w/grill. A new outhouse is close by and there are outdoor games in the common area.

"Get your steps in" while exploring our 120 acres of land with numerous kilometers trail. Great for hiking/biking, birdwatching, or catching a glimpse of wildlife. Saskatoon berries are plentiful this year, bring a container! There are places to sit and enjoy the quiet along the way. We have a small pond with floating dock which is a lovely place to relax. During the winter months we do our best to keep the majority of our trails packed and groomed making for terrific dog walking, snowshoeing or fat tire biking. Though the cabins are technically closed during the cold months, but the trails are too good not to share with other outdoor enthusiasts.

While in season the Cranberries, Chokecherries and Saskatoon berries are in abundance. You'll see lots of wildflowers along the trail: Indian Paintbrush, Black-eyed Susans, Tiger Lillies, Lady Slippers and Marsh Marigolds just to name a few.

This off-grid cabin is powered by solar which will run the lighting, small fans, charging devices, etc.. There is no refrigerator so please bring a cooler. There is an indoor regulated propane stovetop and a new gas barbeque outside giving you flexibility for preparing meals. We provide potable water for drinking and cooking and there is a gravity flow shower/outdoor sink (not operational during freezing temps) The outhouse is in close proximity.

The 250 sq. ft. cabin comes equipped with a queen sized bed, kitchenette, dining table, and reclining sofa. We've stocked it with most items you'll need for cooking including dishes, pots, pans, utensils, oven mitts, cutting board, glasses, mugs, etc. Bring your food, beverages and a cooler. The kitchenette is equipped with tea towels, dishcloths and scrubbies. We provide the mattress pad for the bed, please bring your own (queen size) bedding and pillows. We have a single cot available if there's a third person in your group.

There is a TV/DVD combo in the cabin and a small selection of DVD's at the property's common area for guests to access. There is no Wi-Fi although cellular service is good.

The multitude of trails (over 10 km of them) make for interesting hikes or bike riding. We're pet friendly, so bring your dog.

A couple of pre-printed scavenger hunts provide plenty of reason to look up in the trees and down on the ground to locate various hidden treasures, and have proven quite popular. The pond area is a pleasant place to explore. Speaking of exploring, you may want to pack rubber boots and bug spray due to the wet season we've had!

Depending on the time of year, there are several species of naturally occurring wildflowers visible along the well groomed trails such as Indian Paintbrush, Tiger Lilies, Marsh Marigolds, Wild Iris, Milkweed, Black-Eyed Susans, and more. The Saskatoon berries are plentiful in the early summer and the forest will takes on a red tinge later in the summer when the Cranberries emerge.

Though the rental cabins have their own lawn chairs, tables and firepits, there is a common area where we provide outdoor games, large fire-pit and seating areas.

As you enter the home from the back deck, you will find a spacious mudroom. The back deck has a couple of chairs and a bbq. On the main floor, you will find a 3 piece bathroom (stand up shower, toilet & sink), the washer & dryer are located in this bathroom as well. The washing machine is pre-loaded with detergent for your convenience. Next you will see the fully appointed kitchen, with a dining table looking out to the lakefront view. There is a Keurig coffee machine, with basic coffee & tea pods provided. The kitchen and dining area are open to the living room, which has two cozy couches and smart tv. The front deck is the best place to enjoy! Please enjoy the fire pit in the front yard as you watch the sunset over the water. This is a year round home with central air conditioning and an electric furnace.

Upstairs there is a spacious and inviting loft with another smart tv. The grey sofa converts into a small sofa bed for a guest or child. Linen & extra pillows are provided. The loft area leads to the master bedroom and upstairs bathroom. In the bathroom you will find a lovely soaker tub, toilet and sink. The windows in the master bedroom & the balcony that leads off the room offer the best views! In this room there is a king size bed.

This private suite is situated at the edge of a small city along the banks of an oxbow on the Assiniboine River. The massive picture window in the living room frames a view of the private deck and river that seems to erase the walls of the space and transport the outside in.

This suite is on the lower level of a large home. It includes a large living/dining space, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with rainfall shower and laundry facilities, and one bedroom with a king bed. The living room has a pull out couch for extra sleeping space. The suite and its deck are private and for guest use only. Guests are welcome to share the yard, hot tub, sauna, and paddle boat.

While we love hosting children for the joy they bring, we are not set up as a specifically child-friendly space and request that adults monitor their children in the suite and on the yard as there is water access from the grass. We also do not have cribs, highchairs, or other small-child focused amenities.

We know that pets are also valuable members of our families and we love to welcome them. In order to keep our space inviting for future guests who may have allergies, we charge a $50 pet fee to cover the extra cleaning costs associated with the deep clean needed after a pet stay.

The Ox + Bow suite is accessed via a door with keypad lock that will be set with a personalized lock code. There is parking provided at the front of the home.

My parents, partner, and I live on the same yard. We respect our guests desire and expectation of privacy but are available for whatever our guests would need.

Portage la Prairie is a small city in the Central Plains Region of Manitoba, Canada. The community sits on the Assiniboine River, and is a 15 minute drive to Delta Marsh and Beach on Lake Manitoba. Our vacation rental is located about 1 km outside of the city proper on a quiet rural cul-de-sac on the banks of an oxbow of the Assiniboine River. There is no through traffic and the street has access to a myriad of walking and biking trails. Our neighbourhood is located on paved roads with easy access to both the city and the highway. We are fully serviced by delivery services for restaurants as well as taxis.

The Ox + Bow is located on Treaty 1 territory and is the ancestral home of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples and is the homeland of the Métis Nation. Our family is descended from Mennonite refugees who were invited here by the Canadian government and welcomed by the ancestral keepers of this land. We are working to incorporate the 94 calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Committee into our business.

The kitchenette has all you will need including a Breville 3-in-1 combo air fryer, convection oven and microwave, as well as a full size fridge and dishwasher. The island with stools is next to the living area which includes an adjustable sofa, flat screen TV and fireplace.

The bedroom boasts a super comfortable king size bed (high off the ground) as well as a dresser, and place to hang your clothes. The blackout blind will let you have a good night's sleep after a long day. There is a also a dedicated workstation and a separate tulip table for dining.

The bathroom has heated floors, a rain shower and an Aeromassage tub with chromotherapy lights. You'll enjoy working out on the spin-cycle bike and the water rower. There's plenty of room to lift weights or keep up with your yoga practise. The far-infrared sauna will warm you up on a cool night or help you sweat out those toxins. Suitable to sleep up to 6 with two Queen bedrooms and a futon in the living room. Inside you’ll find an open concept living space with plenty of room for the family. Our cabin is newly updated featuring a spacious kitchen with all the kitchen essentials.

The outdoor space features a charming fire pit area in the trees with Bistro lights. As well as a Barbecue and picnic table for outdoor dining. There is plenty of space in the yard for outdoor fun and games with the family. One parking space is included with limited street parking. The property also offers the use of a kayak for the adventurer in the family.

Stroll, ride or drive into town to enjoy the great shops and restaurants Gimli has to offer. Center Street is a 20 minute walk and a 5 minute drive from the cottage.

The space
Bedroom has a Queen sized bed, a dresser, a night table, a decent sized closet, a window with blinds, a small sofa, a desk, a small laundry hamper, and a 27" TV with PS3 and Netflix. The bedroom door has a deadbolt with a key for your privacy.

Apart from your bedroom, the rest of the space is shared with the hosts, as well as the guest(s) in the other bedroom. Kitchen is well equipped, including a dishwasher. Full laundry facilities are available for use and wireless internet, TV with Netflix (upstairs living room and basement) are included. The front and back yards are fenced. The home has central air conditioning, and the beds are comfortable!

Guest access
There is free parking on the street right in front of the house. There is one spot behind the house too. Yards are fully fenced. Laundry machines and foosball table are downstairs. There is NetFlix available in the living room on the 65" TV, in your room, as well as downstairs. There is no guest access to the garage.

During your stay
Guests are met in person and given a tour when they arrive. When we're not at home, we are still available by AirBnB messaging in case of any problems or if you need help.

Other things to note
Your bedroom is exclusively your space, the rest of the common spaces are shared. If your stay overlaps another guest's (in the other bedroom), kindly be considerate of each other with respect to sharing the common spaces and amenities.

Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 6 am, 7 days a week.

You'll have your private room on the upper floor. There is also a full bathroom on the upper floor which is shared.

The main floor has the living space, a washroom and a kitchen, that guest have access to. Please let us know if you require a space in the fridge and if you plan to cook, so we can make space for you.

There is laundry at the basement and free detergent for guest use.

There is also a provision for ironing if required by guest.

During your stay
I live here as well with my wife and my son, and we love chatting with guests in the evening and over coffee in the mornings, if time permits and it's convenient for guests.

The house is armed, guest should let me know their preferred time of leaving in the morning and when they intend to retire at night, so house can be disarmed. If alarm ever goes off on you, please call me, and I will disarm.

My place is close to public transport, the city centre, parks, art and culture. Grant Park Mall and Corydon are only 4 blocks away. You’ll love my place because of the location, the people, the ambiance, the outdoors space. I'm very easy going and love dogs. No cats allowed. My place is good for, solo adventurers, business travellers, construction workers. Please note my space is 850s ft and the bathroom is shared with me. This is my home and I care for it.
