If you want peace and privacy then this spot is for you." - "I surprised my girlfriend for her 30th birthday by taking her here and man did it not disappoint. My girlfriend was in tears when we first arrived as the pictures are amazing, but seeing this place in person is a different story. The cabin is simply stunning with incredible architecture inside and out. There are so many designated areas to hang and we lived them all. From the swing, couches/ chairs on patio, upstairs bedroom patio, gazebo, and lit up fire pit, we really made this place our home for 3 nights! The outside environment is something next level. It is super peaceful and beautiful here and has some of best views and sounds of nature you’ll ever find so bring your camera (we saw turtles, a stork, and many birds). We went out for my girlfriends birthday to a nearby winery called the Roost and that was awesome so I highly recommend doing the blind wine tasting there (ask for Don). The cabin is very clean and equipped, but just make sure to bring extra pods for coffee, own spices, containers for food and parchment paper/ tinfoil and clear wrap. We also swam in the pond a few times which was super refreshing so bring your bathing suit if you want a quick dip. Can’t say enough about this getaway as it was super relaxing, romantic, beautiful, and exceeded our expectations. John is also an unreal host and helped us from start to finish making our stay super comfortable. Highly recommend this to any couple and we will be back someday! Shawn & Kate"

A lovely spot for a quiet “couple’s retreat” or a relaxing "girls' getaway". The main floor of this bright, comfortable house is the perfect base for your stay in "The County". It's on a quiet one-way street a block from Picton's downtown. (The well-appointed kitchen, central location and 7-day discount make it great for weekly stays.)

The apartment is ideal for 1 or 2 adults and spacious enough for another couple if you use the comfortable and private sofa bed. A nice space for a small dinner party if not for a more boisterous gathering. You can walk to the centre of town in five minutes and browse the shops, restaurants, art galleries, the Regent Theater and more. You’ll find the well designed, well-equipped kitchen is a pleasure to cook in. After dinner, you can stream free movies and shows on Prime, Netflix or Roku (sorry - no satellite or cable). If you want to read, talk, play a game or just relax, the sitting room is the perfect place. The bathroom is spacious and pretty with good water pressure, a rain shower/deep tub and clean, line-dried towels. The bedroom is cozy with a very comfortable queen-sized bed and clean, cotton percale sheets (also line-dried). The sofa bed in the TV room is private and also comfortable if you have guests or friends staying. You'll be happy you booked with us and you'll be back!

Custom built with granite countertops, hardwood floors and leather furnishings, Highlander cottage, open year around, offers it's guests an arts and crafts style with a little post and beam thrown in. The inspiration for the one floor plus loft 1800 square foot layout was the panoramic view of Lake Superior...none other like it ! I designed the floor plan with an open living room/ kitchen concept incorporating a small cozy reading loft when you want to get away. The bedrooms are designed with privacy in mind. They are at opposite ends of the cottage and each has it's own bathroom with ample ceramic tile showers. For those bath aficionados the master has "ye ole" clawfoot tub.

The living room has a large gas fireplace to keep you warm and cozy while you look through all the windows to the lake. Off the living room is a large covered porch so rain or shine you can be outside enjoying the view while lounging on the patio furniture from Lazy Boy! The second side deck off the kitchen is convenient for grilling on the BBQ . This deck offers a great setting to dine with plenty of seating for a nice group gathering.

The kitchen is fully equipped for those of us who love to cook....and bake! If there is something missing I will make sure you have it! This is a working kitchen designed to minimize steps and enjoy the wonderful view while you are preparing.

The cottage is located in a very private setting. It is a large property offering a camp fire area up by the cottage and a nature trail down to the ledge rock edge of Lake Superior where you can sit and ponder life. With the Mink Mountains literally out your back door one can take the many hiking trails from easy to challenging. One of my favorites is the short walk to Picnic Point where a picnic lunch is a must! During the winter months these trails are wonderful for snow shoes. For those who like breaking trail... X country skiing is the best. Whether it be through the woods or on the lake when frozen over....a challenge is always waiting! A great country property nestled up against a forested area. This was once a barn that has been converted into the wonderful space that it is today. A small screened in patio off the back to enjoy the mornings. Wonderful hiking trails located just a 2 minute walk away. A common draw to the area is the world famous Stratford festival just a short 15 minute drive away. This is a great retreat from the city. The Country Nook is right beside our house. But offers a ton of privacy. If you have any questions or need something please don't hesitate to knock or send us a message. There is no cellphone service but wifi calling allows your cellphone to work normally. With your opening message will send you how to use it.
Please note we have 2 large dogs who are confined to our property via an Invisible Fence System. They do roam our property but are not permitted in the retreat unit. 1912 – Villa Niagara was built as the premier farm homestead of Grantham district, and the Coachhouse was built for farm help housing and storage.

OVERVIEW:
An early 1800's stone mill sits on an island in the Salmon River between two one lane bridges. A waterfall on either side, weeping willow trees swaying in the breeze, the river alive with wildlife, a variety of birds and bountiful gardens completes the picture.
You are viewing the Waterfall Retreat, an eclectic 525 square foot studio suite on the river, lower level of the mill which has a private entrance.
Our mill is located in the very picturesque and historic hamlet of Lonsdale which has been the subject of many artists and photographers.

SELF CATERING:
This is a self catering rental as we do not provide meals. The full kitchen is equipped with pots/pans, cooking tools, cutlery, etc, everything you'll need to prepare your own meals indoors or outside. We do provide you with coffee, teas, coffee cream and all the basic condiments and spices for your convenience. We encourage you to bring some food with you to start out as there are no grocery stores in the immediate area.

BUYING GROCERIES:
There is a Metro, No Frills and a Walmart grocery store in Napanee, a 15 minute drive east. Many grocery stores are located in Belleville, 20 minutes west. There are also grocery stores in Picton, 30 minutes south.

DESCRIPTION OF SUITE:
The space is well appointed with authentic rustic charm and many custom features, original mill artifacts and eclectic and antique touches. The full kitchen features a 1930's porcelain sink brought from the mill owner's house, an antique dish cupboard, antique oak counter originally from the Kingston Whig Standard Newspaper office and custom cut granite. The bathroom boasts a vessel sink and a custom tile and limestone shower with glass sliding door and oil rubbed bronze fixtures. There are two comfy reclining chairs for watching t.v. in the sitting area and large limestone window sills in the three windows which look right out onto the river and waterfalls. The bedroom area is a cozy space with a custom made farmhouse queen size bed, a memory foam mattress, fine linens, an exposed original limestone wall and an electric fireplace for extra coziness. The 42 inch Fire television with Netflix and Prime is on a swivel and can be viewed from either the bedroom or the living area. Original hand-hewn beamed ceilings and original mill doors as well as other mill artifacts adorn the space. A private patio with a Weber barbeque, chimnea and a dining area complete with cushioned, swivel chairs is situated right outside your door at the water’s edge.

AMENITIES:
The Waterfall suite is situated right at the river's edge with a patio by the waterfalls for dining and relaxing. Kayaks, a canoe, motorized peddle boat, paddleboard, outdoor shower and touring bicycles are all available free of charge to our guests from mid May until Thanksgiving and a riverside hot tub under the stars is available year round for which you have private times on all the odd numbered hours. A Provincial Parks Pass is also complimentary. With waterfront on three sides, you'll likely want to spend some time on the river. It is usually high and quite fast until May and then quietens for relaxing paddles or peddles throughout the summer months and early fall. Only seasoned paddlers should use the river in May and we will only offer use of the boats at this time of year at our discretion. Swimming depends on the river levels which depends on the amount of rainfall. We reserve the right to limit or prohibit boat, bicycle or hot tub use if we deem necessary for any reason.
All our amenities are fully complimentary. One bucket of wood is provided each day for use in the chimnea or firepit by the dock. Additional wood may be purchased at five dollars per bucket. You can also pick some fresh organic veggies ( in season) from our vegetable garden to complement your meals.

Enjoying nature is the main occupation here. It is the river that gives this place it's magical vibe and brings the wildlife in abundance for our pleasure. Bring your camera! Great Blue Herons, Song Birds, Eagles, Osprey, Otters, Beavers, Muskrats, Geese, Ducks, Turtles and yes even snakes are all happy to call the island and the surrounding river home. (Do not interfere with the wildlife and they will not interfere with you.) A motorized peddle boat ride at sunrise or sunset is absolutely magical! The grounds are full of flowers and birds chirping and the sound of the waterfalls makes this an ideal spot to just kick back and enjoy.

FALL AND WINTER AT THE MILL:
In the cooler months of the year, enjoy the outdoor all season hot tub under the stars by the river and waterfall. There are many walking/hiking trails in the area and wineries in Prince Edward County that are open in the off season and many other seasonal attractions in our area during the cooler months.

The Juliette Suite is accessed through the original mill doors at our shared front entrance. You can come and go as you please with the access code. FOOD:
We encourage you to bring your own food and prepare light meals in your private kitchenette, as the closest restaurants are a 15 minute drive away and there are no stores in the immediate area. There are three grocery stores in Napanee , a 15 minute drive east or Belleville, a 20 minute drive west or in Picton, 30 minutes south. You may also use the outdoor barbeque. There are many nice restaurants and eateries within Napanee, Prince Edward and Belleville/Kingston areas. Regular and specialty teas, french press coffee, cream, sugar and honey are always available in your room. We also provide the little things for cooking that are difficult to transport such as cooking oil and spices. You are welcome to pick fresh herbs and veggies from our organic vegetable gardens in the summer.

It is situated within walking distance to many coffee shops, restaurants, wineries and other attractions. The walk to the main street (Queen St.) is 12 minutes.

It's just a 15-minute drive to the Outlet Collection at Niagara, and 30 minutes to Niagara Falls.

MAIN FLOOR:

The Secret Garden is a hidden gem, and the beautifully landscaped property can be enjoyed from both inside and outside of the home, with spacious front and back porches.

The GARDEN ROOM is the most special place of the home. Cozy up with a good book, a mug of coffee or tea, or a glass of wine, and you will be in your own little oasis. There is also an electric fireplace for cooler days.

The KITCHEN features all the appliances you will need, has so many glasses, dishes, pots, pans and more, and the pantry is well-stocked with baking and cooking supplies. The adjoining DINING ROOM has an expandable table with 6 chairs. (2 additional ones are stored in the basement.)

Need an office to work at your home away from home? There is a desk in the MUSIC ROOM. It also has an upright Kawai piano, should you need to rehearse some music or just want to have a sing-along with your family or friends. That room also has a double sofa bed. (PLEASE ADVISE IF YOU WOULD LIKE THE BED PREPARED FOR YOUR STAY - SMALL ADDITIONAL CHARGE.) There are black-out blinds in this room, contributing to a quality sleep.)

The comfortable LIVING ROOM contains an electric fireplace, a multitude of games and books, and a Smart TV with an Amazon Fire Stick. You can also sign in to your other accounts, such as Netflix, if desired.

There is also a POWDER ROOM on the main floor.

UPSTAIRS:

TWO BEDROOMS with quality queen size beds and black-out blinds (for an amazing night's sleep!) are on the upper floor, and THE PRIMARY BEDROOM also contains a love seat that can be set up as a twin sofa bed. (PLEASE ADVISE IF YOU WOULD LIKE THIS SOFA BED PREPARED FOR YOUR STAY - SMALL ADDITIONAL CHARGE.)

The UPSTAIRS BATHROOM is spacious, with combined tub/shower, toilet and sink with plenty of counter space. For your convenience, I also provide quality safe and clean Canadian Rocky Mountain Soap Company toiletries along with plenty of plush towels for your use.

Enjoy the floral and musical themes throughout the cottage, and be sure to have a glass of wine (provided by your host!) on the deck overlooking the extensive and stunning Secret Garden, or in the Garden Room with a beautiful view!

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:

1) 7 is the maximum number of guests that the Secret Garden can comfortably accommodate. There is an additional charge of $50 per sofa bed per stay, so that the sofa beds can be prepared in advance of your arrival, with cozy bedding, extra-thick mattress covers, and enough pillows and towels provided for all guests, and then dismantled after your departure.

2) About TAXES: Town of NOTL requires me to charge a MAT (Municipal Accommodation Tax) of 4% on the room rate fee. Airbnb does not have capacity for this to be charged separately, so I have had to build it into the nightly fee. I "back out" the MAT and submit it to the Town. HST (Harmonized Sales Tax - combination of Provincial and Federal) of 13% is applied to the room rate and MAT, and I submit this to the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency).

Spacious upper-level entry way on the side of the house has space to park your bikes or golf clubs if need be. Our unit is modern with some vintage accent pieces that we have collected over the years to bring character and warmth to your stay. The ceiling height in the main living area is 7 feet 8 in to be exact! Large egress windows and adjustable ambient lighting provide lots of light throughout the unit. To make things a little bit fancier we installed multi-function spa shower-head in the bathroom. The wardrobe and dresser in both of the bedrooms offer ample storage as well as a desk and chair provided in bedroom 2 for a little work space.

There are so many wonderful types of accommodations in the area but our guests get to experience living in the heart of Old Town Niagara-on-the Lake from the comfort and safety of our home sweet home within your own private space. We have tried our best to provide all the essential amenities being away from home.
