We were a group of friends from London Ontario looking to escape the city for a week and started the search for a cottage and stumbled across this beautiful piece of heaven… it absolutely exceeded our expectations. There was more then enough space and comfort for the four of us. Lots of comfortable bedrooms and places to just hang out and relax. The views from the upper deck are spectacular and the dock on the lower portion of the property felt like we were on a tropical island. The dock is also very stable and doesn’t move around with the changing water levels… i know that may not seem like a big deal but it made hanging out on the dock very relaxing. I’ve never had such a wonderful nap. The cottage itself was absolutely perfect! Lots of parking and lots of room to turn a truck around. The cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly need. Right down to cooking utensils and everything you need to have fun on the water. The property manager was so helpful and very good an communication. I can go on forever and ever about how perfect our stay was but I’ll keep it moderately short and sweet. Fenelon Falls is a beautiful little town. It is home to lock 34 on the Trent-Severn Waterway between Sturgeon Lake and Cameron Lake.

There are many great restaurants, pubs, shops, a grocery store, Friday farmer’s market and a beautiful waterfront park. All this is within walking distance of The Kabins by the falls.

Getting Around:
We offer 1 parking space per booking. If driving around town isn’t your thing, the ATV trails are 1KM away as well there are boat slip rentals directly across the street.

Other Things to Note:
The activities are endless at "the Kabins by the Falls" with a patio bar across the road, marina directly next door and walking/atv/snowmobile trails very close by.

The loft area is accessed by a ladder. You must be comfortable climbing a ladder to access the sleeping area

Beautiful, peaceful, Lake adjacent property, Less than fifty steps from the porch to the lake (shared access). Enjoy picturesque lake views from your lounge, kitchen, and porch. The high end mattresses (Endy) provide a beautiful night's sleep (in every room). There is plenty of backyard space for playing, entertaining, and outdoor dining. BBQ and firepit on-site. Alternatively, take a short walk downtown and visit Fenelon Falls' shops, restaurants, Lock 34, the waterfall, or walk to a full lounge and play beach. Why not bring your boat, there's plenty of space on the drive! You can easily carry your board, kayak, or floating flamingo to the water. The spacious backyard is perfect for games, or relaxing by the fire pit. It's only a ten to fifteen minute walk downtown (no need to find a parking spot), or to the beach. " - "The property shows well & at first glance things looked fine. The beds were made & the sinks looked clean. My teens LOVED the massage chair. However we chose this property specifically for the amenities & were very disappointed to arrive to find the hot tub completely unusable/green, the dishes & utensils in the cupboard dirty, & the BBQ was left with a tray of burn food and dirty used cooking utensils. We had text with the owner several days prior asking about firewood & were assured there was plenty. The only wood pile was old lumber and flake board with dangerous rusty nails and screws left in. There were no instructions how to use the sauna or hot tub. (Thankfully I have owned several hot tubs before and knew how) The house water filter had stopped working and resulted in smelly yellow tap water (which prevented us from drinking, washing dishes or showering). We were left with the choice of leaving or going to purchase drinkable water, chemicals to rebalance and clean the hot tub, fire wood, toilet paper (as there was one half roll left) and supplies to wash dishes. We chose to drive into town, make the purchases and stay as it was our only 4 days together the entire summer but it was in no way what we paid for. To the credit of the owner he did reimburse us for the chemicals, water, tp & dish washing supplies but could not rectify the inability to shower & in my opinion we should not have had to do any of that. Proper care & it could have been a great stay."

The view from the main living space was incredible - having dinner on the balcony, overlooking Cameron Lake while the sun was setting was absolute perfection. The water was a bit choppy the first couple of days, but it didn’t take away from the fun of getting in for a swim or kayak. I’ve never seen such an incredible sandbar! You can walk out so far from the shore and the water will still only be at waist height - perfect for families with smaller children. Our pup loved walking the trail which was conveniently located right behind the Boathouse. Sarah was also extremely accommodating and allowed us an earlier check-in/late check-out, which was great as the lake was so perfectly calm on our last day, and it was a treat to be able to take a final dip before we packed up. Only one small critique - the wifi was spotty but there were lots of movies and games to pass the time when not enjoying the outdoors. Will definitely be back! "

The primary bedroom features a queen-size 12-inch memory foam mattress, a large bathtub, and a beautiful ensuite bathroom and of course, the view speaks for itself. Go to sleep and wake up surrounded by nature.

The living, dining, and kitchen area is open concept. Expansive in its design and one with nature. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need.

Our sauna, perched right in the forest, has a Shou Sugi Ban (or Yakisugi, as it is known in Japan) exterior. This ancient Japanese wood burning technique, which means “burned cedar,” creates a striking and resilient exterior, while also highlighting the wood's natural veining.

We're delighted to welcome children and infants to this cottage, and many happy families have visited! However, we want to stress the vital importance of providing close supervision at all times. It's important to note that while the cottage is child-welcoming, it may not be specifically designed or equipped for your child's individual needs. Therefore, we cannot guarantee or imply suitability tailored to your child(ren). To ensure their safety and well-being, we strongly recommend that children are closely supervised at all times throughout their stay. Our utmost priority is for everyone to have a fantastic and enjoyable time at our cottage!

Bring the whole family to this great place with lots of room for fun. There's a river near the house just 5 minutes by walking, that's good for fishing. Also, there is a Golf club close to the house. Please no pet, and indoor smoking. please call me if you need more information and details.

Are you looking for some nature therapy? You'll be nestled in several acres of forest, where you can hear the birds and enjoy the private backyard. The hot tub and campfire* beckon in all seasons, and the heated inground pool is open from mid-June to Labour Day each year.

We are dog friendly, but cannot accept other pets due to allergies.

The space
The guest suite is on one level of our home, but is not wheelchair accessible as there is a single step for the outside door, and a single step for the bathroom.

The bathroom doors are mottled glass, so only translucent. They provide light into the hallway while not allowing anyone to see through, but do not give full privacy. It will be possible to see that someone is in the bathroom - please refer to the pictures if privacy might be an issue. These vintage doors were reclaimed from a demolition - hours and hours of refinishing resulted in what I consider to be a unique addition to our space!

The suite is best suited for two people, but a small family can be very comfortable here. The area cannot be child-proofed, and is not safe for toddlers, so please do not book for toddlers/babies.

The cooking area is a kitchenette - there is no stove, oven, or dishwasher. Dishes are to be washed in the bathroom sink, but we provide a dish pan and rack to assist with this. The kitchenette started as a coffee maker and microwave, and grew as we thought more amenities would make your stay more comfortable. We are, however, limited by the architecture of our house, so it's a small space.

The extra bed is a double pull-out couch in the living area. There are no curtains on these windows, but the view is to the forest.

Indoor spaces are not shared, but we use the same hot tub, and in the summer, the pool will be shared. We have another rental on the same property that can access the pool (not the hot tub). If it is rented at the same time as your visit, there may be an additional two people in the pool.

The pool is heated to 81°F.

Guest access
You'll have exclusive access to the lower level of our side-split home; a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, and living room area. The living room has a pull out couch with a collapsible screen for a bit of privacy from each other.
You will have exclusive access to a campfire pit. (It is outside, and could potentially have snow in it. There is an annual citywide burn ban for the month of April, and occasionally other times when conditions are dry.)
We use the same hot tub, but only in the early morning.
The pool will potentially be shared with us or other guests, to a maximum of 2 additional people.
You'll have shared access to our 3 acre property; the backyard includes an inground pool, and basketball/tennis court (basketball, hockey sticks and nets available). There is currently a large pirate ship on it as well - long story!
If you'd like a different check-in/check-out time, please ask before arriving. If it's possible, we'd be happy to accommodate you. Time differences of greater than 1/2 hour will be an additional $20/hr.

Other things to note
There is a Keurig, a microwave, a toaster oven with air fry ability, mini fridge, mugs, plates, cutlery, cream/sugar, salt/pepper, assorted coffees/teas/hot chocolates. The bbq uses a small canister of propane which is provided for you. There are instructions in the house manual, but if you don't know how to set it up, please let us know and we'll help.

While the campfire is available in all seasons, there are occasionally burn bans. At that time, fires will not be allowed. Additionally, please note that the firepit is outside, and will therefore be exposed to weather. For example, in the winter it will be covered in snow. It can still be used, and is lots of fun, but may require some shoveling to access it.

There is an additional fee for an extra person - $25/night. There is an additional fee for your dog - $20/stay. We do not allow any other type of animal, and you MUST have control of your dog at all times. A single parking space is automatically included in your booking. If you need another one, please make arrangements in advance. There will be no charge, but we'll need to move our vehicles.

Our family includes a Golden Retriever named Charlie. He loves everyone, especially children, but we will keep him under our control. His favourite activity is to lay outside in the sun.

We have a fox family that lives on the property, and if you're lucky you'll see either mom or dad out for a stroll. Please do not disturb them, but feel free to take pictures. You'll also see/hear many different species of birds while you're here. We regularly get Hummingbirds, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Nuthatches, Gold Finches, Mourning Doves and Chickadees. Depending on the time of year, you'll hear different woodpeckers (Northern Flickers, Pileated, Hairy or Downy) searching for food, a mate, or just laughing in the forest. We also have Rose Breasted Grosbeaks, Redpolls, Cedar Waxwings, Purple Finches, a Barred Owl, and Mallard Ducks. No promises, but keep an eye (or ear) out!

We also hear the nearby farm animals occasionally (don't worry, we've never smelled them!) These include horses at the end of the street, and cows and donkeys behind us. Sometimes we can hear the coyotes howling in the Cavan Swamp Wildlife Area.

The space

Guest access
Guests will have access to the guesthouse only, which is attached to the main house on the property. You can utilize the seating areas outside on the property, along with the ample green space surrounding the house. The guesthouse has a separate entrance from the main home and its own living space and washroom. There is a microwave and toaster oven but no stove. Bbq can be utilized and shared outside if we have guests in main home.

Other things to note
We have a firepit that can be utilized, if there is no fire bans currently in the region.

We may have guests booked in the main house on the same dates so please be aware of that!

The main bedroom holds a queen-sized bed with a dresser to make you feel more at home. The second bedroom holds a double-sized bed with a closet where you’ll also find additional pillows. Each room comes equipped with a portable heater as well as motion sensor night lights to ensure a safe and comfortable stay.

Guest access
A unique code will be given to you prior to your arrival. This code will be used for the duration of your stay to unlock the main entrance door. You will then have access to your basement apartment as well as an enclosed area in the backyard.
